I think it’s just better now that people are actually playing WvW. Every server has decent coverage now — that’s why there aren’t any blowouts.

It’s LEGEND-Freakin-DARY armor. Higher ranks get pips at a faster pace already. Like Jayne said, it’s nice to have, not need to have. You’ll get it if you want it.

KISS principle. The tick is only 5 minutes. Yeah it’s frustrating, but I’d rather them focus on other items.

If we are focused on being outnumbered for less than 5 minutes, them the focus has shifted from what outnumbered really means.

I don’t think the OP was saying the BLs were so busy that they couldn’t get in.

The OP seems to be saying the only way they could progress the cue was by logging out and logging back in. While waiting in que the numbers wouldn’t move. When They Re-logged, the que was always down…

I disagree, EoTM killed proper WvW more than any class imbalance did.

This 1000% (if that is even possible and I can’t believe I am agreeing with a Maguumite…)

If we are going to give pips and things to EOTM in needs to be at a 25% rate or lower. And maybe only if you ARE in a que for one of the WvW maps.

This is a WvW legendary/rewards track. EOTM is by definition NOT WvW. At best it is realm vs realm. Which needs to continue.

Currently you can only see the queue size of all the other maps so players have to ask in teamchat for the size of the queue of the map they are on. Players ask because they want to do things like switch to another class or commanders ask in case they are being asked to help out on another map and want to ensure they are able to return to the map they are coming from. All want to establish an expectation and it would be easier to just see this from the UI.

Gonna reply partly to bump this back up.

Right now, as many of the maps have double digit quesnit may not seem to matter much, but this would be a really good QOL for the future. Wanting to switch classes, or as a Commander trying to decide about swapping maps to help.. definitely would be a plus.

Did anyone play in the 3 wvw tournaments? Player were reward with tickets that a lot of wvwers were not able to spend complete. Wvwer have been asking A-net to make them useful now they are.

XTR: I can understand you want to run closed. But if it is just five of you, what part of the squad UI do you actually need? With five, between VOIP, party comp, etc, I can see no benefit of the squad UI to you.

In what way would that UI actually help?

I mean if this turns out to be such a success that even the linked worlds go back to healthy populations, maybe there’s a chance to take out links. But we won’t know for months as we give it time to shine and see who sticks around to continue with it.

They would still need weeks if not months of monitoring of populations to see if maybe links, map caps, or server population caps would need adjusting.

Chaba, please understand I am not referencing you in the last post. You are offering a clear and relatively easy solution that doesn’t take new builds/hardware etc.
Well, no. The point is the impact to the playing experience now, not months down the line. They don’t need weeks to months of monitoring population trends. Relinking servers is done to handle normal trends. Tomorrow’s patch is not a normal trend. It is an anticipated explosion.

And what would you like them to do? raise map caps the next day? which of course would cause more lag, unlink servers at the end of the week? offer free transfers to lower servers?

What if the population starts to die off again next week because the rewards aren’t quite as good as pve?

Yes they will need weeks to figure out what is the appropriate step to take next, just like how it takes weeks for them to collect data on server populations to do links.

There’s going to be growing pains with major changes like this, we had major queues to deal with when links first came in too, like I said we’re just going to have to ride it out.

The expansion in population is a known upcoming event, not something that requires weeks of data collection. All I’m asking is for attention to it (see emboldened part in OP) because those queues have a negative impact on the WvW experience, which is detrimental to retaining that expanded population. And yes, if need be, Anet should consider readjusting server links sooner.

I feel like you’re just trying to construct some sort of argument for the sake of arguing with the “what ifs”. They don’t need weeks of data to know what the active playing population of a server is right now at this exact moment. You’re confusing the rolling average of population trends with live data. But let’s use your method. Tomorrow’s expansion is going to spike that rolling average upwards, making current server pairings quickly outdated. In fact, we’re already seeing that spike reflected in this morning’s population update. Full and Very High servers tend to be able to queue maps by themselves. Now multiply that with population returning to paired servers. It is shaping up to a negative experience which makes people leave and look, what do we want here, people not having a good time and leaving because of queues? No, they’re not going to understand “ride it out” either.

Easy solution: the guilds that are huge and move every thirty days… move.

Or, move to a lower pop server.

Or, ride it out.

People have complained that WvW was dead. Now they are going to complain it’s too full, because it’s not full of the people ‘like them’. (It’s those darned pve’ers)

Move to a high host server and ride it out. OR deal with the question.

Just like supply huts were, Emergency Waypoints are being spammed with birthday cakes to siege.

Spam their build sites with cakes. Make it hard for them to build the segue in the first place.

It’s a tactic. A cheesey one for sure, but valid.

Spam cakes on their catas, then fear them off… Spam cakes ???? On their rams and fear the off the rams.

Cakes and food are not build sites. IT WONT MATTER. The only thing your ‘no build site’ will prevent is Friendly siege.

Also, you can’t interact with enemy siege. Your concern and solution I fear will not change what you want to change.

Oh yeah… definitely Friendly Fire for a few hours… because there would be too much rage if it went longer than that.

Or maybe Friendly Fire from siege, so fighting under AC or Cannons hurts both sides. Close catas to the walls splash damage would kill you too…

Tweak some skills maybe, but do not remove down state. It differentiates GW2 from a lot of games. I don’t think we want banners reading fully downed players, which is what would need to happen.

And yes Justine, I get you don’t want it removed, but too many have taken the opportunity to complain about it.

Don’t gripe because a party has specced for down state in sacrifice of something else. Have your group do the same thing.

Wvw is not designed to be balanced. Duel and attack roamers at your own risk. It is made to support each other. If you can’t get back to your group, then wait.

If a bottom tier server wins their way to tier one 4 weeks in a row, that means the server is good enough to be one of the three t1 servers in any aspect. The other than that, its impossible to make it to t1. Think about it, do u really think one of the servers in t4 can win 4 weeks straight in a row against jq sos and FA that are stacked by so many guilds.

Wow. Wake up? I really didn’t think my post warranted that rude of a response. I believe you read the rest of my post where I said some form of a hybrid of your idea and our current system would be good.

Yes, I gave a hypothetical, and we have seen a LOT of gaming the system here, so no, while it would be unlikely, I would not put it past an alliance of guilds to game it.

But anyhow, it’s my opinion. Nothing else. ????

Would be good if you could ‘choose teams’ to pick a color for there. It would allow guilds from the same server to GVG in a large enough space as well. If it is EOTM style without choice, the problem still exists that guilds from other tiers would have to time their matches when the are on competing colors.

The Guild hall arena has the capability to choose which team color, so it would be logical that it is possible.

Again, like OP stated, the remaining technical challenges may not be something that could be easily overcome.

Not evryone playing with a group of 3, and not evry class has a light field

And not every class has stealth, and most do not have repetitive invulns.

Necro gets one buff, and people lose their minds…

So, did you look at how many skills were needed to place the 25 stacks?

A condi cap in general would be good. But don’t nerf the one small buff that has been given to Necro in almost a year.

saying t1 should have more fights, but people in t1 are more eager for fights in general

compared to the people in low tiers. It’s not even worth playing in t1.

Your premise is flawed. To be in Tier one, you do not have to look for fights nor be eager for them. And likely, it was more PPT that raised a server vs PPK (Though there have been some legendary periods for Mag over the years with PPK)

Not saying that there are not guilds on T-1 that enjoy and look for fights, it is just that those guilds are in EVERY tier. Though, your perspective likely means that most of them left, and you are left with mostly PPT focused groups.

One up, one down would not solve the issue you are stating. If anything, it is more likely to get some of the t-2 guilds to tank matches to keep from being the “Lucky server to go to T-1”

The other problem with 1 up 1 down, is that theoretically, a bottom tier server could win their way to tier one in 4 weeks. Not sure that is the healthiest model either. (I can see the intentional manipulation now.. Not that anyone would do that of course….)

Now, some form of a hybrid of the current and the 1 up 1 down would likely be a manageable solution.

What, pray tell that is, is beyond me.

I just thought of something … if OS became a megaserver where you could scrim/gvg … how the hell does that work when everyone is on the same server?

Currently, there are still three colors. That could be maintained, with an option to pick a color.

Or, worse case (but likely easier to implement) make it color specific to the current servers that you represent.

But Guesting would solve that piece as well: Guild ‘A’ from EU guests to a server that is competing against Guild ‘B’ in NA. Color wouldn’t matter.

An easy solution for those guilds split by the changes (which begs the question why they moved in the first place) is to move to a tier 4-5 server that isn’t locked. If enough of the guilds that are up in the top three tiers did this, likely the tiers would shake up.

There are ALWAYS choices.

Sort of, Yaks Bend lost a bunch of guilds because T1 guilds came to Yaks Bend so I don’t necessarily agree. Yeah sometimes you get a bunch of guilds that move to a new place but it’s not a monthly occurrence. I’d be in favor of something like you proposed though, maybe make the time between transfers longer than 7 days? Make it 30 days or 60 days that way you have less movement but still allow players to have the freedom to move every once in awhile. What do you think about that?

A couple things:

1. This will fix the population inequality. That is fairly obvious. It may not be enjoyed by people that are stuck in tiers thy don’t want to be in, but it will balance them.

2. Somewhere in your OP, you noted people want to play with their friends. If people are THAT enamored by playing with their friends, I am sure that Tier 8 & 9 have room to accommodate. But I really don’t think that is your real issue here.

3. You state you have been in tier 1 for 3 years. We’re you not in one of the guilds that transferred to YB? Correction: your OP stated tier one and two.

4. I have heard rumor of some who feel they are/have been in ‘control’ of the top tier servers, helping some rise and fall at their whim. Wouldn’t this be a great opportunity to test that? I mean, with this in place, the (I think they refer to themselves as the ‘Illuminati’) could prove their superiority and transfer down to a tier 6 or 7 server and drive it up to tier 1. This change would actually make that possible and solidify their ‘greatness’.
