Rewards are fine, multiple people in my guild have gotten exotics on just a few runs, I’m 1/5 on exotics so far on 5 runs.
It’s a fun holiday dungeon, bunch of entitled noobs in here expecting epic loot for every run in a 10 minute dungeon…
(edited by Strifey.7215)
Bad, would destroy the crafted exotic economy.
All runs on first character = 60, 20, 20, 20… as long as you don’t hit DR
If you do a 2nd character after the first = 30, 20, 20, etc.
false…
you know whoever is zoning in has to do story first right…

Omg it’s so much better, here are comparison screenshots of before and after.
Thank you so much for finally looking into this.
Very good idea for the skin salvage kits.
That way you still need to use transmutation stones, you still have to acquire (and lose) the item once, but you can freely use skins on alts or if you want to change around skins every so often.
This also remedies my issues with legendaries and the fact that you spend 100s of hours to acquire an item that can only be used on one of your characters.
I would be 1000x more likely to grind for skins or use mats on skins if I knew I could use it in the future on other characters or switch back to it without wasting bank slots. That’s the reason I’m not bothering with some of the named exotics, because I don’t want 10 different weapons and armor sitting in my bank and only being allowed to be used for one character. No one who is getting expensive named exotics or legendaries is doing it for the stats, it’s all for the skins.

Farming for 1 hour != gold farmer. So basically you want everything to be given to you for free?
And like I said, I run dungeons which is the most fun PvE content imho and make 1g an hour. That’s not gold farming, that’s doing challenging content in a group of players and you still make more then enough money for some piddly WP costs.
Any DE is going to give you money. It’s not like you have to farm to get gold, just straight up farming will give you a good amount of gold. Even if you casually play you still make money.
I used to think WP cost was high, but then I reach 80 and realised they are actually quite low. It’s like 4s for max range, which is really not bad at all.
You’re right it isn’t bad, if you go to that one spot and stay there.
But if you’re trying to hit the jumping puzzles or kill the dragons, it gets rather exorbitant.
Except Dragons give 5 pieces of gear, 2 gems, and 1s80c. Even if you got full blues it’s worth the port for the time you save.
With ports I’ve hit multiple dragons in a short time frame which gives me net profit, while a whiner is probably spending 10 min to run to each of them and losing out on money because they can’t run to both if they spawn at roughly the same time, which happens alot.
Not to mention with a port, you can just farm or do a DE and make 20s in those 10 minutes instead of wasting 10 min to save 3s, or do real life stuff even and then instantly port to kill the dragon and get 10-30s (or maybe even a exotic) worth of loot for a 3s cost.
Almost every single action in this game that results for porting results in a net benefit or break even in terms of money. For the few instances where you might lose money, you have the other 95% of the time where you made money to pay for it.
(edited by Strifey.7215)
As someone who has 3 80s and ports all the time, even within zones, it’s not an issue.
It’s so incredibly easy to make money in this game to allow you to experience all the content you desire. The only things truly expensive are cosmetics.
If you had an 80, you would realize it’s quite normal to make 1-2g an hour if you farm. I have a blast running dungeons and even doing that gives you 1g an hour. So take an hour to farm or actually play the game instead of whining, and you have enough gold to port around and help out all your friends and do whatever you want for the next few days.
Stop being an entitled baby and expect everything to be free and handed to you. This game provides more then enough ways to make gold to do all the fun stuff.
This is an MMO, it needs goldsinks, removing or greatly reducing goldsinks just means everything will be more expensive. 3s to save 10-15 min of time at level 80 is worth a ton, too bad some people don’t realize that. Even low level zones re-coup the cost in a couple of minutes if you carry around gathering tools or actually kill mobs…
And for people complaining about porting around for events, pretty much every single event will give you more then 3s. They give the base silver and karma, plus all the drops you would get since every event that I’m aware of has mobs that you kill. Pretty sure everyone complaining doesn’t have an 80 or hasn’t been one for very long, or doesn’t know how to do simple analysis on the cost benefit of a 2-3s port through both saving time and making it to events before they end.
(edited by Strifey.7215)
Whoever told you that doesn’t know what he’s talking about. You should probably test things like that out yourself before complaining on forums about something completely untrue and so obvious if you’ve ever run 1 dungeon or done 1 overworld boss like a dragon in your life.
You are correct on breakable objects, but dragons and any other “live” enemy can be crit. Basically if you can apply conditions to it, it can be crit. If you can’t apply conditions, it can’t be crit.
(edited by Strifey.7215)
If people are actually interested in semi-quick runs here are some easier paths that I recorded.
Citadel of Flame – Rhiannon Path – (9 minutes)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4D-ERftN3LUCrucible of Eternity – Submarine Path – (~16 minutes)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lH-UnpB91uc
Impressive on the speed runs, seems like you are all pretty much specced for damage?
My speed runs don’t kill as fast since most of us are more balanced a bit more tanky and we are in a primary WvW guild so we do that alot as well. Too lazy to always respec and carry around 3 sets of armor instead of 2.
Not to mention with DR in place we already hit it on our 5th run even doing ~15-20min runs :/
Why would the 2 people doing damage jump back? All you do is move to the edge of the rocks right outside the shield everytime the shield comes back up.
Everytime I’ve done this path, 3 people stay at the top, and the 2 dps people stay at the bottom.
Sure it’s tedious and I think the boss fight is badly designed, but that’s the easiest way to do this part.
Dunno, he was fine last night.
I’ll see if it changed when I run it tonight.
I got a core from CoF last night, but I’ve never found the drop rate to be that great on them anyways.
Any feedback on whether SE is working as intended from Robert?
Are you actually saving the tokens up for something? If not, you might as well spend them until they do something about it.
I use my spare tokens to turn them into exotic weapons of one type and throw them into the forge, since the forged weapon is tradeable. So far, I have not gotten a legendary precursor, but at least I can sell unwanted forged weapons for 1g or more. At one point, I got a cool GS skin (forgot the name) that I kept for a different character.
Saving them for alts. I already have 2 sets of full exotic armor, and at least 1 of every usable weapon for my guardian. It’s don’t find it cost effective to throw 1,560 worth of tokens into the Mystic Forge since really the only precursor I would be going for is greatsword. Much easier to just use gold for that.
I’m leveling a warrior up right now so planning on using tokens on him for weapons/armor, but tokens still take up insane amounts of room for really no reason.

Any missing dungeon paths should be coming in the future.
(edited by Strifey.7215)
I now have a full bank tab dedicated to dungeon tokens and it’s starting to really start eating into inventory space. Especially with the increase in rewards and now karma, and the fact that dungeons are the “ultimate” PvE content as far as challenges go, I see more and more people stocking up tokens.
Are there ever any plans to:
1. Make it a currency tab so it’s not an actual object you need to store
2. Make it stack higher
3. Reduce all tokens and token costs by a factor of 10
Right now they are taking up a ton of space and one full run a day takes up ~3/4 of an inventory slot…
(edited by Strifey.7215)
Nvm, haven’t run path 1 since patch.
As someone who does speed runs with guildies and friends and has a large majority of paths completed in under 20 min, heavy armor classes are just better for dungeons right now.
I regularly run 2 guard, 2 warrior, 1 mesmer groups and we just blow through everything. Guards for boons and tanking, warriors specced for pure dps with shouts and banners, and then a mesmer for time warp and more damage.
Most dungeons are easy mode, also axe & GS for sustained dps on warrior which is what you want in dungeons.
Videos can be found in the link in my sig, was uploading SE1 and 3 right now but I guess the SE1 is useless now :x
Path 2 was significantly harder then path 1 and 3 already, and it got buffed more? lol.
Glad I already did it once and never have to go back there.
I was just about to upload a speed run for path 1 as well which took 15 min., guess that footage is useless now
At least my path 3 footage is still accurate.
If 35-40 minutes is bad…. wait till Arah my friend.
I’ve ran Arah a few times. The difference is all Arah paths are relatively long since it’s the hardest dungeon in the game, all paths in HotW are not long.
So of course no one wants to do path 2 in HotW when you can do path 1 twice before you can do path 2 once.
Also it’s possible to do the easier paths of Arah in ~45 min, just depends on how good your group is at fighting GL and if you need to full clear the room for kiting or not.
lol man he always spams the No No No thing
Yes path 2 is definitely the worst because it takes quite a bit longer.
Path 1 is 15 min, Path 3 is about 25-30 min, Path 2 was like 35-40 min and soooo boring.
I usually do path 1 and 3 everyday with friends/guildies, sometimes we have an open spot.
It gets cycled through our daily speed runs, path 1 and 3 can both be done in about 20 min.
yay finally
I reported this a while ago, had a master kit I made with an alt because it says account bound, but it’s really soulbound despite the description.
Posted by: Strifey.7215
It’s been posted many times including 2 dev responses that the dr was changed to account based back in the patch that fixed the dr bug because that was one of the issues causing the bug…
I mean there’s a thread on the first page still with a dev post from today.. come on bro.
I run AC almost everyday in a guild group for sub 20 minute runs per path.. like Robert said, after they took out tokens, there is no reason to fight him.
The waypoint is useless for anyone that has done any path more then once because the next event for each path is almost impossible to fail.
For anyone saying his loot is good… it’s the same as every other boss, which is useless. I can go to Orr, do a DE event, and get way more loot from trash mobs in the same amount of time.
Pretty much every single dungeon has skippable mobs, that’s just the way it goes. No one wants to fight silver trash with high hp for no reason.
I do quick runs on SE 1, but yes we do the leave 1 behind as well.
I consider it a strategy rather then an exploit.
It’s quite obvious butter is wayyyyyyyyy too common, even with whatever supposed “decrease in drop rate” that was already put in.
When butter increases from 1c to 14c (stabilizing around 9c) with the mystic forge chest recipe, and then drops back down to 1c a week after the recipe is taken out, it’s quite obvious the supply is ridiculously too high.
On the flip side, Vanilla which is used starting at Tier 1 Cooking is 3s on the TP because from my knowledge it doesn’t come from bags and is a rare gather from low level zones.
Can we get an adjustment somewhere to butter?
Also, why am I getting butter in bags from level 70+ zones?
Since having 0 butter after using it all in the mystic forge, I now have 250 in my collections and another 100 or so in my bag right now which is all from dungeon running or high level zones. I’ve been 80 for weeks and haven’t touched low level zones except to go to some dungeons like AC and CM. I know I get some butter from CoF which is a level 75 dungeon from those Charr bags you get in there which could actually have useful T5 blue crafting mats… There’s just way too much butter, especially from higher level bags that could have mats worth 1s+ instead of 1c from butter…
Full run through video, Magg part starts at ~11:20. 3 Warriors and 2 Guardians fully geared.
I’m starting to make “speed run” videos of dungeons which can be found on my channel.
So far just have all 3 AC paths (these can be done faster but when I took the vids we had a couple pubs who died at running parts and we had to wait for them), CoF1&2, and HotW 1. All these paths are basically 20 minute or less paths. Working on compressing and uploading SE path 1 and CM path 1 & 3 right now also. CM is a bit longer at like 25 min a path right now but I think there’s a part you can run in path 1 that should cut it down. Hardest part about running CM is there is alot of stuff designed to make you clear some things (i.e. net traps and rifleman).
Then going to do the quick runs in TA. Basically I’m going to go through all the “easy” paths to speed run then going to work on the paths that take longer just because of length/timed events/more bosses.
Also have a video guide to my guardian on the page for anyone interested…
Basically this is an example of someone undergeared or not having enough knowledge about a dungeon.
I personally run about 6-7 various dungeon paths every day (paths that take 30 min or less with a dedicated group many times we hit DR after the 4th path doing things legit and get 45 tokens then have to wait a while which is another issue…) and have run almost every dungeon path at least once. I ran CM regularly because I wanted the 6 Noble runes for the dog proc, and it’s not hard at all if you know what you are doing, and I can’t imagine anything one shotting you except maybe rifleman while you are moving (i.e. your lack of knowledge) or standing directly in front of those mobs like at the first boss of path 3 where you get point blanked by their spread shot. There are other things like the barrel event in path 2 or the spike area after boss 2 in path 3 that seems hard until you figure it out, then it’s like a walk in the park.
There are more and more walkthrough videos and speed run videos up all the time, with plenty for CM. So I’m not sure how people can sit here 2 months into the game and say something like CM is unbalanced when there is tons of proof of people easily running paths in EM under 30 min.
Dungeons are the only challenging PvE content in this game, once you figure them out a majority aren’t challenging anymore. So yes, you are required to use your brain a little or have more then blues for your gear.
AC is the easiest dungeon in the game, you have a bad build if you get 2 shot in exotics…
All paths under 20 min and this was with a PUG, can get 15 min with static groups:
Here is path 1, others are in the channel:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVEhY7Tnddo
Had a really good PUG group yesterday and we were destroying the previous stuff in path 2 (killing the jailer boss before he even spawned his giant devourer) so we decided to try the Magg event without kiting and dieing.
This is our first try, didn’t kill everything and didn’t go perfect, but didn’t have to try and cheese it at all. That being said, this event is still pretty ridiculous.
I’m hoping this isn’t intentional… but yesterday I threw in 4 random rare items into the mystic forge.
I was happily rewarded with an orange text item and was excited that I just made some money.
Well it turns out a Shaman’s Amulet came out… which was immediately labeled as soulbound. I know this happens when Amulets drop from mobs as well, and I can’t imagine it’s intentional.
So now I have a useless amulet that I can’t do anything with because it’s useless for my build. Can we get a change on this?
Thanks.
This is correct, made a similar post in here a few days ago but it just died with no responses. Hopefully they make this easy fix so I can carry my 200 charge kit around on my main instead of leaving it in the bank since I made it with an alt ~_~
I run AC 3 times a day (1 each path) under 1 hour. It is by far the easiest dungeon if you are talking about all 3 paths together. Once you learn the dungeon you’ll realize just how easy it is. I hit DR last night and got 45 tokens on the 3rd path because we were running it so fast.
I already have my 500 token gift, the mace, the shield, the staff, and almost the GS (which I’m only buying to transmute onto my ugly pearl explorer exotic since I already have CoF GS) and still continue to run out because it’s awesome money and I get tokens for future alts.
I can’t believe someone would actually compare Arah to AC.
Funny I was asking myself that yesterday. But my solution was allowing tokens to stack higher then 250 even though it goes against all the other stacks of stuff.
But yes, at one point I had 4 stacks of 250 AC tokens and Hotw tokens while I was saving for a guardian alt I was leveling.
I do agree that it’s dumb that a set of tokens for a full set of gear requires 6 slots of inventory space. Multiplied by the fact that are multiple dungeons that you may want to save tokens for and it only takes 5 bonus runs to get over 1 stack.
Everything should have it’s cost reduced and rewards should be reduced.
They just need a global LFG instead of a zone only LFG.
It shouldn’t be required to leave what your doing, waste travel costs, and shout in chat to hopefully find a group in a reasonable amount of time. Then if you can’t find a group you just wasted 20 min. and silver when you could have continued what you were doing while having a LFG flag up.
I don’t agree with a fully automated Dungeon Finder like another MMO… where there is no human interaction and you just get entered into a queue for your class.
But I do think there needs to be a LFG so people can actively search for everyone who wants to run a dungeon, or karma farm, or whatever, by making LFG global and allowing you to specify a certain pre-existing option such as karma, dungeon, story, etc. that can be filtered on. There is still human interaction with people messaging each other and inviting each other to groups similar to many other MMOs, but there isn’t this archaic system of being required to teleport around and shout for groups.
Path 2 and 3 aren’t that hard, and GL isn’t that hard.
Arah is insane but not because of GL, because path 1 only has 1 wp and path 4 has the real insane boss known as Simin.
P.S. GL is a “mid” boss in all 4 paths, not the last boss.
Wait a group actually did that event instead of running through? Amazing.
I have the full HotW set and have never once done that event lol.
1 Guardian
1 Warrior
1 Ele
1 Mesmer
1 Thf
imho, that combo pretty much has everything you need for various dungeons. Thf has more poisons then Necro also.

Same here, on a Crucial M4 128gb SSD.
I’m assuming the issue with loading times is the same issue with player models taking much longer to load now which is blatantly apparent in WvW and is something the devs have already confirmed is an issue since the last patch.
Both map loading and character rendering seem to be linked to the same “loading” type issue. So I’m hoping them fixing the rendering problem will help with map loading as well, because current load times on an SSD are unacceptable.

Same here for pretty much all loading screens.
I’m running on a Crucial M4 SSD and have noticed that load times seem insanely slow now. Not sure what happened, since I specifically installed on an SSD to reduce load times.
I created a kit on an alt to break down some rares from crafting intending to give it to my main after finishing.
There are still 200 charges left now but even though it says it’s account bound my main can’t pull it out of the bank.
I believe someone in my guild said they noticed this bug as well.
Just letting you know so hopefully it gets fixed since it seems like a pretty easy one. Thanks.
Granted guardians have some amazing traits, valor and honor lines are very strong imho.
But yes, Zeal is by far the weakest trait line and 5% more damage is pretty much useless as far as major traits go. I don’t know any guardians that take Zeal past 10. I get that they are trying to lower the dps of guardians because of survivability, but I wish they would at least add supporty type effects to those traits. It should be 5% damage and something else, considering most other classes that are not warrior get 10% more damage and/or effects that are much more beneficial.
I don’t mind supporting… just give me badges and loot for healing and buffing other players who kill people ~_~
My thread on guru: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/70142-after-100s-of-hours-my-final-guardian-build/
Shortened for this post:
Healing + Shout Build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUEQJARWlYgyCXFyvDm4EhVBCi9AjwPjXPooDZIA
Equipment:
I use the HotW dungeon exotics which have pwr/vit/tough runed with Superior Soldier.
Exotic Emerald Jewelry which is pwr/prec/tough
The following list are the weapons I use based on the situation I use them in:
GS with Pwr/Prec/Crit & 5% crit chance sigil
Hammer with Pwr/Tough/Vit &5% crit chance
Staff with Pwr/Tough/Vit & 50% energy on swap
Scepter with Pwr/Prec/Tough & 50% energy on swap
Focus with Pwr/Prec/Crit & 5% crit chance
Shield with Pwr/Tough/Vit & 5% crit chance
Sword with Pwr/Prec/Crit & Bloodlust +10 power stacks
Mace with Pwr/Tough/Vit and 30% chance to heal
No Torch
Reasons for the weapons below:
Greatsword and Hammer with 5% crit chance are obvious.
Staff with Energy should also be obvious. If I’m in melee range I’m not using staff, I would switch to staff for an extra dodge which usually means I need to backoff. This allows me to instantly dodge + heal in any situation, sit back and regen with staff 4.
By keeping the 5% crit chance runes on my offhand weapons, I will always have 5% crit.
If I’m swapping to scepter from melee it means I need to get out of range, so the extra dodge + heal is key
Sword for building power stacks
Mace is a pure tank weapon, so the extra heal is nice.
Basics:
Okay so let’s get down to it, explanation time.
First off the actual build is a typical boon/shout build that heals. Many people don’t seem to realize how valuable Altruistic Healing is in a group setting, while both allowing you to support, soak damage, and still deal significant amounts of damage yourself.
The first thing you want is enough health to survive conditions and large spikes, but not spec too much health where it diminishes your e-hp from healing. This is what the 17000~ hp from vit armor and runes of the soldier gives. The toughness from all gear slots really helps to increase your e-hp past that because of the huge amount of heals the guardian has making toughness more valuable once you get an adequate hp pool. In addition, you have a large amount of power for direct damage and retaliation damage, plus precision (and bonus from the major trait) to push your crit chance up to levels where you will apply might and vigor stacks from crit a good amount of the time.
I primarily use GS or Hammer + Staff 95% of the time. Scepter + Focus is situational for times I need to range. I’ll be honest, I don’t use mace, sword, and shield all that much.
Healing:
With Altruistic healing your base heal per boon with this build is 72 for each boon per person (including yourself).
Virtue of resolve = 102 per tick
Regeneration buff = 168 per tick
Dodge Roll Heal = 429 heal per roll in AoE
As you can see, we have a large amount of ways to keep sustained healing. If you are able to time your dodge rolls (also why I use superior sigil of energy on certain weapons) you can “tank” for a good portion of time, including protection boons. In pug dungeon runs, it’s obvious that alot of people don’t use their dodges effectively which is huge for any “tank” type class. A guardian who uses their dodges effectively, with selfless daring, energy runes, shouts, and vigor procs is huge in any group. That in itself is really what sets apart players in dungeons.
Flexibility:
Another big benefit of this build is the flexibility. I’m a firm believer that the Honor and Valor line are the 2 strongest Guardian trait lines. Zeal is overall pretty weak past 10 points, and Radiance is good up to 15 for farming, but isn’t really as useful past that outside of PvP for spike damage builds. Virtues is a strong line and is what I run on my consecration guardian and can also be useful with shouts, but overall I prefer the boon healing build over the increased boon duration build, although both are still valid and useful.
Now as you can see, you can easily switch to a solo meditation build which is ideal for solo farming DEs and MFing, you can also switch out Empowering Might and/or 2-hand Mastery for things like Pure of Voice or Res traits for different situations. This gives you a huge amount of options for a variety of situations in terms of traits, while still being useful with your gear/stat setup.
Conclusion:
This is obviously not the only way to play guardian, and for many people may not even be the “best.” There are many other viable guardian builds based on a situation or playstyle. From my personal experience though, I believe this is the “best” build for me. It is highly flexible, does good damage, provides excellent support, and can be used for a variety of settings.
Hopefully this will help some other guardians out, especially for running some of the harder dungeons in the game.

Omg so much rage at this quest right now. I completed this on my main the first week of release fine.
I just did it twice on my guardian and it bugged both times at the cave part!
I can’t believe this thread was starting 28 days ago and it’s still messed up. This is already an annoying quest with no bugs because of insane trash mob hp, but now I just wasted 30 minutes killing trash for nothing.
Literally rage quit and not playing the rest of the night.
