zerker all day errday
I take the mordrem husks down twice as fast than any zerker with my dire elementalist, especially those ridiculously tanky slingers and smashers. They just have too much armor for power to be effective, it’s kind of become condi builds ‘thing’ in the SW, like tanks dealing with the wolves that attack too often for dodge to be sufficient defense or the AoE spammers that go after the menders. Though admittedly zerker is most affective at nearly everything else, and most of the games content still has no ‘thing’ for condi builds to do at all, let alone be effective at.
Until just one other person in condition gear shows up, and overwrites all your damage…
You non-zerkers really need to read up on how conditions work…

The only problem with courtyard is that they lumped it in with the conquest queue.
Obviously the people who like/dislike this map have quite different preferences, and I can’t understand why anet thought it would be a success introducing it that way…
Furthermore, they are doing the exact same thing with stronghold…

IMO toughness does not scale well so knights is a waste. You are better off with a mix of zerk/pvt or valk/pvt.
You definitely need extra HP for wvw tho. With only 16k HP condition builds will absolutely melt you, and thieves will 2 shot you.

You really overestimate the players in ranked queue. Lots new players don’t bother to learn the game and just go straight into ranked which results in frustrating matches. Honestly, quality in ranked and unranked is pretty much the same. It’s been worse lately.

RF is way easier to land than maul or PoS. Way easier.
MoC increases next attack by 50%. Even buffed Maul does not hit as hard as RF. Its no where near it in fact.
PoS is not much better. It has a weaker multiplier than Maul. It is only better if it hits twice, but is still way less than RF.
Just look at the numbers. Power Melee ranger is one of the least viable specs in the game.

In addition to the lack of teles, rangers also lack burst. Every other berserker class out there has a true burst, unloading lethal amounts of damage instantly or nearly instantly (maybe not necros, I’m not terribly familiar with their “meta” build.) LB rangers do good damage, but it isn’t fast enough. Many of the meta builds can simply outsustain a “burst” by 2 longbow rangers, where basically no one can survive a burst from 2 of any panic strike thief, medi guard, GS mesmer, even a static discharge engi because you don’t have time to react.
Melee rangers pack way more burst than and even more mobility than LB rangers. I’m pretty surprised more people aren’t trying those. They still fall flat from lack of teles, and despite insane 1v1 abilities, don’t have the sustainability of a thief.
Melee ranger has more burst than LB? I don’t think so…
The damage modifier on RF is 1320*3.75
The damage modifier on Maul is 434*1.5
Plus maul is a lot harder to land, and you’re getting hit while you do it.
GS is weak. Seriously weak. Especially compared to Guard GS.

You’ve got 44% crit chance and 66% with fury so I would be using on-crit sigils.
Personally I would go torment/doom for PvP and torment/Blight for WvW.

Greatsword – agree, needs major damage buffs. Hilt bash also needs greater range and quicker animation. You can’t even hit someone who is moving away from you.
Entangle – nothing wrong with this skill. Its weak frankly.
Shortbow – the counterplay is to not get flanked? Most ppl think the flanking requirement should be removed anyway…
Axe – yes might is too short, and the animation is too slow for such low damage.
Pets – agree.
Piercing arrows – I say merge quickdraw into this trait. Quickdraw in skirmishing is rediculous as a condi build has no reason to go into it.
Burns – what?
EB – would be great if the removes conditions on pet swap. But of course pet swap would then need a shorter cd.

No one seems to understand what the OP is talking about…
ANET announced that they were nerfing certain port locations. This was taken as a nerf to thief and mesmer mobility, with the hope that other classes in the dps role like ranger and medi guard could at least compete for that spot on a team.
What the OP is saying is that the camera changes have inadvertently opened up a new range of port spots. So the nerf has not had the intended effect.

There is some truth to this. People were playing condi survival ranger since before SotF was introduced, but it only became ‘meta’ when ROM played it in a tourney about 6 months ago…
That said, I think the OP is confusing viable builds with roles. The meta only has about 3-4 viable roles at best, and each class only has 2-3 builds that fit into one of those roles.
So the total number of combinations is bigger than what we see, but not that big.

Sorry, what is the problem we’re trying to solve here? So many afk that events scale too hard? No, that’s just BS. People got to pee, answer the phone, attend to kids. Perhaps if more of you had a life and didn’t farm a sad repetitive, and rather unrewarding map we wouldn’t have silly moan threads like this.
Perhaps you would prefer a single player game?
AFK in competitive formats is a bane, but in open world? Really? No
If you did vw regularly you would understand how much of a problem this is.

As I see it the problem isn’t really people being AFK, although a map getting full but with low activity can be annoying.
The real problem is that Anet is so forgiving when counting towards those that go AFK. Being AFK should significally reduce the reward you get/can get from an event.
There are so many events in the game where you can be very lazy and still get the full reward, like the Vinewrath, Shadow Behe and other World bosses etc.
But I love that I can wp into godlost swamp with SB at 1%, run towards it, fire off an arrow from 1500 range and still get full credit :P

Would a system that ports AFK players, after a certain amount of time, to the nearest WP at zero cost work? It at least gets them out of the way.

The build for optimal GS is 4/5/0/5/0.
The 17% assumes Max might, vulnerability, fury, etc.
That being the case the gap would be slightly smaller thanks to the vuln from maul…but its not going to be much. Only a few percent.
Sword is still the best by far.

^Exactly that. Too much investment if you want to use the warhorn as a condition procer. Long CD, trait investment, precision investment versus simply taking up a torch or dagger.
Remove the channel, make it hit once and apply blind, and its fixed.

ex:-GW2 5v5 consists of 20 abilities x 10 (200) that need to be kept track of, which is overwhelming. Fact.

So you’re telling me that keeping track of 200 abilities/cooldowns at once isn’t overwhelming? You’re going to have to show me some evidence because it is actually a fact that keeping track of 200 abilities is overwhelming for myself and other players I have spoken with. That is a fact.

Infact I watched Sodapopping rage log from Gw2 the other day after Phantaram literally went through every class and showed him all 200+ abitlities. Sodapoppin became overwhelmed (He said so) then logged off Gw2 to play H1Z1. This is a fact.
Nice try though. You know well that the fact I was pointing out was the large number of abilities in play in 5v5 MMO gameplay.
Are you complaining about the number of skills from a players point of view, or a viewers?
If its players then that is l2p. Any decent player, with time, can learn the necessary skills/mechanics.
If it is the viewers, then stronghold should actually help with that because it has a single objective, which is kill the lord.

Some people here need a crash course in marketing.
Twitch receives 45 million + viewers PER MONTH.
That is more than Hulu, more than Netflix, and more than any single TV network could ever hope to achieve.
That makes it a massive audience for marketers, and furthermore its an audience that they can’t access anywhere else. The demographic who watch twitch don’t typically watch a lot of TV, or consume mainstream media.
That makes it a massive, untapped resource as far as ANET is concerned.
They should be all over this. This guy mentioning them is a BIG DEAL.

What we really need are less selfish changes so we can play a bigger part in group scenarios. Change the shouts so they offer group support like stability, protection, etc.
Make empathic bond cleanse (not transfer to your pet) 3 conditions from allies in X radius. Give maul a blast finisher.

Nomad does very little damage.
Condi necro needs a buff. It is very bad.
Because they are both too defensive. People don’t want classes who can sit on point all day without dying.
If you brought in these amulets you would have to buff the power amulets to compensate = power creep.
Anet knows what they are doing with these things.
