Yeh I think they’ve got this wrong. The two big “nukes” that will benefit from remorseless are maul and pos, and they are power melee skills.

The perma AoE swiftness and Regeneration is to be loved as well.I might have gone a bit wrong at some places, but basically this “Ranger Shoutbow” version sounds totally legit. And you also bring a fire field to the table.
I’ll definitely give the build a try. If I miscalculated, I’ll realize it sooner or later.
I’m going to try similar, but battle sigils instead of leeching.

fixing WD is so easy. just compress the cast and the current damage into a 2s cast. secondly, allow us to move while casting. they’ve been dragging their feet on this offhand, it’s so frustrating. they also haven’t buffed Hunter’s Call which is probably the only ability in the game with zero utility. no cripple, no blind, nothing. just an extremely mediocre DoT even with zerker stats.
That would make it useless as a reflect though. I’d rather it becomes a mobile reflect with the existing cast time.

I think OH axe is quite powerful as it is, except being rooted while using number 5.
If they lowered the damage a smidge and allowed movement similar to the warriors axe skill then I think the OH axe would be a fairly popular choice.
The damage is crap for a 25s CD, and a 5 second cast time.
Its a DPS loss over sword auto. Meaning unless you are trying to reflect something, the skills is completely useless.

“Sic Em!” currently is not good, as it is mainly used for the revealed part, but that is due to pets not being all that good. After the patch, with fully traited BM Hawk/Owl/Raven etc it will be massive. A 40% increase to the already huge increase in damage is going to make it crazy good on a 32s CD.
I actually feel like Sic Em is not the problem. +40% movement speed and pet damage is pretty strong. The problem is pet AI. If it were a little smarter, Sic Em would probably be a lot more powerful.
I agree. If pets could reliably hit you would be happy to buff the crap out of them.
Maybe if they added stability to it, it would be a good skill.

BM Shouts for SupportThere are only four useful shouts for us and the CDs mean that you don’t need four to benefit the most. If they were short (20s) like warrior, then yes, trooper is good for them, but such long CDs? Hmmm
“HaO”, “Sic EM” “PM!” are about the only ones that will see use in PvP and the last two have quite long CDs. I wonder if Allies Aid will trigger Resounding Timbre?

WArrior’s traited shouts are 20s, 20s, and 24s CDs. Ranger’s will be:
HaO: 16s
Sic’em: 32s
Guard: 12s
The skills themselves still have no party support though…

I could see some weird power ranger builds with moment + opening strike combos for huge maul damage. Swap your pet to gain call of the wild, use taunt, technobabble and then maul someone, 75% increased damage right there. Ruin someone’s day

So black bear, murello, drakes, moas, alpine wolf, polar bear.
AoE doesn’t matter, the trait isn’t “Taunt enemies hit by your F2” it’s “Taunt enemies around you when you use F2”. So it doesn’t matter WHAT the active is, it’ll taunt things around them.
What i’m really wondering though is does this happen at the beginning or end of the F2 cast, if it’s at the beginning it’ll have amazing synergy with Drakes where you’d be able to taunt them into the jaws of the beast and it’d make Fire, Frost, and Reef drakes very very very viable and strong choices.

I might end up running a nasty technobabble build on my bm ranger, getting 5 stacks of confusion or a 6 second daze
Though sic em might be decent now.. Simply because it’ll give swiftness plus regen.
Could do guard though, wait till someone got beat and have a cat pounce them, that’d be interesting.

It’s been forever since I’ve run with 3 traps … can you refresh my memory as to why it was required to have them for them to be effective?
Spike to CC so you could land Fire and Poison? … not to mention bleed + burn + poison does hurt.

You sacrifice the survivability of survival utilities for a big condi bomb. Otherwise you could just roll condi-survival ranger, still have huge condi pressure, but way more survivability.

Is that not the same for other classes’ utilities as well? I know it is when I’m on my Mesmer/Ranger/Warrior/Engineer (my 4 most played). I could just take offensive utilities but then CC would eat me alive … though Engineer is a special case due to toolkits and toolbelt.I fail to see how this is any different. Hence I don’t see what the hubbub is all about.
The old traps really required all 3 to have any chance of being effective.
The new ones might be different though. The knockdown on spike trap means that it can probably earn a slot on its own.

The issue with traps was always suvivability, in particular the lack of a stun break.
It will be even harder to survive now that you can’t throw them from range, losing the ability to kite.
If you dont stand in your trap anyone with teleports will eat you alive (since you are full glass).
If you do stand in your trap you have no stun break to get out if you get cc’d…
Maybe the knockdown will make the difference…I think they synergise more with melee than bows though.
Bow trap ranger will be paper.
if your running bow trap you don’t take Power LB is only for hybrid use and its KB plus or huntershot and barrage for AoE control forcing target left or right into traps you don;t need overwhelming AA shots + high condi traps , Cav+valk+sinister is more than enough to make a LB trapper work , it does not need to be glass at all , hell i ran it with 2.7k toughness with LR , Sword+dagger.
thats the first mistake of running LB/Trapper going full cannon power/condi glass.
I’m talking from a PvP perspective here so when I say glass I mean not having any defensive traits/utilities.
If a thief misses your traps, you will be dead as soon as he is on top of you. Thats if you have a bow.
If you’re melee I think you’ll have a better chance. You can at least evade, block, swing at thin air, or disengage and try and reset your traps.

I am happy about Beastmastery, I feel like its a must have line for power ranger now.
One thing I find interesting is that Beastly Warden will be a buff for the crappier pets like Bears, Moas, Devourers, etc.
Anything that has an AOE F2 will all of a sudden have enemies running into it, instead of easily avoiding it.

I think it probably does stack, but 4 seconds is too short for it to work.
By the time you proc it a third time the first one will have warn off, so you could only stack it twice. So 10% damage buff for wasting two of your evades.
I mean seriously, wasting a dodge for a 5% damage buff? No thanks.
We now have better might stacking options and the new Remorseless, which will function way better than this.
Skirmishing line still sucks IMO.

It does seem that pve damage was hit pretty badly.

It took me 3 goes to get into PvP.
I think I just eventually figured out how to time skills properly, and found builds that work for me.
One of the hardest things for me was learning when to use invulnerable skills. If you come from PvE or WvW you are just used to spamming skills and not watching your enemy at all.
In PvP baiting your enemy’s skills is essential. But you can only do that after you start to learn what their skills are, and when to use yours.
The other thing to realise is that the objective is to cap points, not kill people. There are some very hard counters in PvP, Thieves on Mesmers for example.
If you can’t win a 1v1, dont do it. Stick to your companions, and go for the mid point. You will be more effective than someone who tries to sit on their home point and 1v1.

We’d only need 3. Hell you could split them into English and Non-English, same as Euoservers. I can’t imagine we’d need a huge data centre.

Well soldier will still be the staple of WvW. And WvW will continue to be the only home for all those other sets as well.
Its really all about Sinister. Does it become the PvE meta, a viable alternative, or slightly less annoying that it is now.

It will all depend on how much they buff conditions.
Currently with 25 stacks of might and full sinister gear:
25 stacks of bleed =4k dps
Burning = 1k dps
Poison = 300 dpstotal dps = 5.3k dps (single target)
Meta ele build with 25 stacks of might (stacks it themselves) = 12k dps (AOE)
Meta thief build with 25 stacks of might = 11-13k (Single target)To bring conditions up to meta status this change would have to more than double the damage from conditions, and even then that doesn’t count build up time.
THe number they have thrown out there is 400 stacks of bleed, which would be 64k dps based on your calculations.
As others have pointed out that would take time to build up to though.
It is going to be interesting.

Fire and Poison will now stack, stacks increased greatly (unknown how high), and confusion does DoT as well as on attacks.
Do people see a new DPS meta incoming?
I can see this changing things for large HP targets like world bosses. Trash mobs I imagine Zerk will still be the meta.
But for high HP bosses the new optimal set could very well be sinister.

I would switch Spider for Drakehound or another canine.
The poison from the spider will overwrite your own, more powerful poison, so you will be losing damage there.
You don’t want your pets to overwrite any conditions you apply yourself. So you should aim for pets that apply conditions that you can’t, or use non-condition applying pets.
