I want to throw my support behind blood magic + parasitic contagion + flesh golem. It is basically a fool proof way to carry pugs through cm 100 lol.
it’s bad – bottom line cut & dry. there, i said it.
you dont need any of these things to carry 100cm. maybe I would take contagion or rise if I wanted to do an entire boss solo, but if there are noobs running around taking aggro you can go full dps and survive until phased, then they get ressed after bullet phase, rinse & repeat. especially since killing it quickly means less opportunities to get killed, since fight is shorter.
taking blood magic is absolutely the worst thing you can do, it’s the biggest dps drop. soul reaping is essential to keep rotation flowing (important cd reductions). + necro is a DPS class not a support class. there are druids and chronos to ress/distort people
solid ocean surely is better for power comps
nightmare – power – only if you remove prot immediately and burst entire phase during “exposed”
aetherblade – power – you fight trash mobs so burst is better than condis
molten furnace – power
not sure about others, i dont play ranger
i successfully raid on necro but im THAT awesome at playing my necro.
anyway, most people who are excluded for being necro aren’t because of balance (deathly chill buff really balanced our dps to be good). if you are being rejected it’s because of necro stigma and player mentality. a lot of trash level players run necro in fractals and people are afraid of getting these people in their squad. i myself often witness necro pugs with death magic/blood magic or(and) warhorn. rise, parasitic contagion, flesh golem 24/7. my eyes literally burn and i judge these people harshly. while i dont agree with kicking on sight, i kinda understand this but i wish people would just resort to gearcheck and traitcheck.
i know how to avoid detha bugging and other shenanigans but thats not the point, dungeons are bugged af and it’s not just clunkiness but the whole instance gets blocked
the light armor is very bulky and the “leather” part isnt about the dyes but the way the armor moves as you run and turn
druids remove conditions constantly so it’s not like you’re gonna wait for all these condis to stack up, and if you do you waste even more time to transfer. suffer is more consistent.
lol it IS literally unplayable. there are bugs which completely block the entire instance. they mainly involve bad NPC scripts involving their deaths or position.
examples:
(common) se p2 after killing taskmaster – npc not triggering the glowing rock event
(rare to common) ac p2 – detha wont trigger the event to deploy traps
(very frequent) arah p2 – belka wont turn hostile
(rare) arah p3 – npc will not trigger the cleansing ritual
necro on KC will do similarly to guard, you can still do 3 orbs KC with 1 reaper in pt if there are some eles
on matthias you can spam suffer which will transfer condis back to him and you will easily beat condi mesmers or other classes. plague signet is a no-no, it has 50% longer cd than suffer.
its hard to be top dps on MO as necro since getting your ice fields is harder on that boss and you’re expected to epi the boss to kill adds and not the other way around. also thieves obliterate there.
2 years of doing an armor set.
not asking playerbase for an opinion
3 dye channels, hardly dye-able texture.
Light armor made out of stiff leather and metal

back in the day i sold aetherpath achievement runs to so many people and we rarely had issues with getting people this achiev. we found it helps if the person actually kills an elemental and if nobody else in the party gets hit by the fire. try these two tips.
what im sure you’re not supposed to do is go afk or semi afk. do the achievement actively
same for light aura and crystals x_x
Personally i think a mobility skill would help mh dagger alot.
dark pact teleporting you to target in 1200 range would be rad!
To be honest, staff is the most underwhelming weapon we have right now. I’m obviously a PvE player so it’s coming from that standpoint.
I’d just like to compare our staff to Ele or Mesmer. They have different skills with various visuals and functions, and necro staff is just filled with the same skill type which strongly lacks a e s t h e t i c l y.
What staff also lacks is usefulness… autoattack is underwhelming and the other skills don’t feel powerful enough. Maybe it’s somewhat useful for pvp (but again, not as DPS source except condi transfer), but in my opinion the staff deserves a major overhaul like Plaguelands did. I would keep the general roles of each skill but change the application and visuals.
dungeons are rewarding enough. you get stable gold per path, stable gold per 8 paths, a lot of materials for salvaging and a lot of champion bags. on top of that you get tokens which you can turn into ectos, insignias or if you were lucky and got a recipe you can craft accessories which sell for 1.5-8g on TP (200 tokens per item). also Aetherpath drops exo skin daily which makes 2-10g
the ONLY reason why people are not playing dungeons is because of shifted mentality of the playerbase which follows gossip and not the truth
had same issue while pugging today. its so painful when you use up the expensive food for nothing
oh and also just noticed the waypoint name is “PORTAL to lions arch” so gg on consistency lol
This thread is more of these “literally unplayable” posts. The “asura gate to lions arch” doesn’t have asura gate model, it has a typical portal model. It triggers me so much every single time…
no thanks, blinds are useful on power too
dungeons dont make little gold though. its still a good source of income
im not hostile.
i recorded with overwolf
nope you dont get a prize, you get to prove your point. make sure to show sigils and food though
10% damage increase and reduction of CD for 2nd skill is beefy. Sure, axe won’t be used once 50% HP threshold is broken, but Chill of Death won’t be used above it. Also, axe WILL be used below 50% in real life situations, because sometimes you just need to go ranged.
a) axe 2 is strongest hitting skill we have, naturally you want 10% more dmg on it and cd reduction lets you use it twice before swapping
b) only raid boss where power will be viable is KC and you will use axe below 50% as an opening burst because you get to prepare before each burst. going ranged on normal bosses is a bad behaviour in general so it’s not an excuse to go axe below 50%. only good choice to start with axe below 50% is when you are allowed to prepare an opening burst (like archdiviner getting invuln until you hit seal etc)
With heavy use of axe as suggested in rotation, which one would actually be better NOT on dummy fight?
chill of death doesnt hit hard, axe 2 hits hard and you spend more time above 50% than below
The only reason SR even exists in this build is for 5% damage modifier. Also, Dhuumfire, but seriously… On the other hand, build runs 2 wells, axe and warhorn, all of which benefit extremely from Blood Magic line. It reduces well CD and stockpiles syphons, which really add up damage on fast-hitting skills. It also offers damage increase to party – while it can’t be measured on dummy fight, I wonder if it will provide at least equal damage increase in real fight.
SR is taken for golem benchmark, in real raid/fotm you should take BM
Points against SR are that Dhuumfire is completely wasted below 50% (since RS is also melee range, below 50% you’ll be in RS only to facetank something you most likely shouldn’t), and that 5% is tied to LF – which in real fight can fluctuate quite a lot, so it’s not constant uptime.
a) dont worry about dropping below 50% life force, you wont if you can dodge and if your support classes are decent + you can very quickly replenish
b) gravedigger spam benefits the most from the 5% so taking Soul Reaping isn’t wasted below 50% hp.
i actually did test it myself long before this thread was made. if you are getting these numbers it means you’re not using the same buff setup or you’re cheating with night sigil/writ of strength. so again, i am believable and you are not.

dagger focus + axe warhorn.
cast warhorn 5, axe 2 and swap to dagger and autoattack. also spawn well of suffering and well of corruption. easy burst for a newbie. make sure to wear gear with power precision and ferocity
feel free to drop a video confirming these claims, otherwise your credibility is low and i dont really believe you.
yes this build is bad
ummm… but thats how it currently works, wtf
reaper’s onslaught is trash, dont use it
Sooooo. Power reaper with wells but no blood magic? And with axe, but no axe trait? Pardon me if I doubt this “benchmark”. Maybe I don’t know something, but build looks like garbage.
im sorry to break it to you but it’s option two – you don’t know something.
soul reaping has 5% dmg modifier and it gives similar numbers to blood magic
another thing you dont know is axe trait was actually slotted, you can know it by looking on cooldowns so please fact-check next time you post lies
(edited by Sublimatio.6981)
24k dps isnt “peak”, it’s THE total average dps. the numbers leading to that is the dps before gravedigger spam, not “average” dps.
if necro could get a 10-man or even 5-man party buff like pinpoint distribution, but for increased expertise it would already guarantee a spot in the raid. just put it on curses minor and let it work it’s magic.
Incorrect.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/6egz3i/power_mesmer_dps_benchmark_263k_292k/
While this benchmark is not done properly (racial skill and writ of strength) the numbers are big enough to expect even with 100 less power and different elite it will still beat 24.3k
Farbstoff likes to minmax, grind and theorycraft the necro rotations, this channel is the go-to for all top dps rotas as of today
idk define main weapon. its as important as scepter and looks way cooler so i mainly have my gs visible all of the time out of combat (+ its an opener weapon for the rotation).
ps. power reaper doesnt hit things really hard. its worse than power mesmer lol
camping greatsword is our highest power dps build
only below 50%. axe was buffed so above 50% you swap between axe&shroud and gs
no.
that’s completely useless comment for that situation that happened to me, I was only looking for a guild to start raiding and it happened that I was invited and being told they will tell me all the mechanics. Then they did what they did.
Oh I’m sorry if my comment is useless to you, I didn’t realize we were having a pity party.
Chilling Darkness wasn’t touched for a long time. You’re probably thinking about Chilling Nova or Chilling Victory.
maybe watch some videos of the boss kills so you’re not completely clueless and then find some friendly group. alternatively stop being so touchy, its the internet.
you’re kinda 4 years late and that is just one guide, swampland guides are so overdone
I don’t want it changed, except maybe make it a channeled cast time – 1 tap i would spawn it in place, holding for a sec would cast it mobile, following my position
I play like a Goddess so I don’t really need/like voice chat but generally I join to listen because it is expected of me.
I would play a legit queued annihilation arenas, random arenas like in gw1 or 2v2 but not as a custom arena, it has to be queued, supported by the league rewards etc. Otherwise I’m not interested. Sad because I would like to get into pvp but I want to focus on killing people and not fight for points or lord.
In Raids, Fractals and general PvE it is optimal to run with healing minion, the devourer one and in some very specific situations also flesh wurm.
You can also substitute Suffer for Shadow Fiend if you want (the dps difference is microscopical, but then again Suffer/Flesh Wurm is only taken when Epidemic isn’t applicable.
Note the Shadow Fiend ability needs to be timed correctly to match Suffer dps – the chill from blind has 3 sec cd and you’re using other blinds in the rotation – usually you need to use the minion ability before entering shroud).
As for elite, Plaguelands is the best but Golem is a good CC and isn’t a dramatic dps loss (about 1k+)

you’re so brave, thank you for sharing your story
gw2dungeons.net you can find guides for each path
would be cool if I could actually have blocks (necro)
CPC is better than blocks for most trash anyway due to the extended Weakness and projectile management.
so how about an enraged melee boss with non-projectile ranged attacks?
just find a static team and prove your dps, I’m clearing every raid boss on reaper, of course some bosses are meh and some are amazing for my perfomance, but all of the times im within top or reasonable spectrum. if you’re playing necro correctly, you will get very competitive with crangers in your team.
worst bosses for necro are:
VG – you cant easily epi the seekers when they are pushed back immediately so you’re stuck with Suffer or Wurm (but minions die on VG so i prefer suffer instead of 2nd minion), also other classes will outdps you easily here.
Sloth – clears conditions, you have to be careful with epi, it has big hitbox so u get outdpsed by eles
KC – if you switch to power with impact sigils and generally minmax, you will do similar dps to guard due to bursty nature of power reaper and KC being all about burst. don’t go condi.
best performance i gain on:
Sabetha – very high epi uptime and easy to manipulate ice fields. can easily get top1 dps if you’re not doing cannons
Matthias – suffer is life. you can transfer condis back with it and manipulating ice fields is easy here. minions die if you get sacrificed, resummon when shield is up.
Xera – high epi uptime and easy ice fields.
Cairn – only boss where you can safely spawn wurm and dont worry about it getting killed. easy to work with ice fields.
Deimos – epi play is on top of the game here
MO – you wont get top dps here and ice fields are hard to work with, but your epi will be very useful to clear adds.
edit: ok this is a joke thread, i dont care, my advice here is honest
