we have enough info to predict what the meta weapon set, utilities and the rotation is going to be. we only dont know what the gear will be (runes, sinister/viper combo etc)

If you slot Bone Fiend and Shadow Fiend and summon them and then switch their places on the skill bar instantly un-summoning both and then have your squad mass /gg for cooldown reset every time you do so you can get LF quickly.

if you cc the avenger he disappears. you probably were blinded and missed

the only issue with them for me is when i insta rally and they are doing the finisher and then i go down again and get insta-dead as they are finishing the skill. avenger should be immediately despawned after rally.

With Scourge the pve meta is going to be scepter/dagger + torch, and the only source of LF in this set is scepter 3.
The utilities are going to be plaguelands, blood is power and possibly cpc and maybe a new one. None so far give life force.
Scourge’s shroud also doesn’t have a skill that regens LF (like life transfer or RS autoattacks) and we lose GS which is a strong LF tool.

if scepter, torch or dagger offhand doesn’t get life force source, we’re gonna be stuck with a LF regen utility like the shadow fiend or spectral armor and that’s really restrictive for fights with no nearby deaths (for example Cairn, Samarog)

older maps are more expansive and while general idea for dungeons and fractals is rushing from boss to boss, the new fractals are very compacted and it feels really boring, like even the arenas are turning into giant flat circles/squares. the environment and terrain shouldn’t be so bland.

why cant they just remove how the phase mechanic works and rework it, maybe make rigom desperately running into guldheim and we have to keep them separate , otherwise rigom explodes and wipes pt or something.

why didn’t they split this skill??? the change is useful for wvw/pvp but in pve this butchers a source of CC, the cooldown is way too long. old spectral grasp was even not that big of dps loss with cd similar to “suffer!”.

Life Force stays, but Shroud does not. The new F2-F5 skills cost Life Force to use.

F5 actually is a sand shroud you enter for 7s and that will trigger all shroud traits that rely on entering/being in shroud. You dont use life force as hp though

i know it does, i meant in my message it will remain useless until it’s changed and it’s just my opinion of course.

most of the barrier will be removed due to degeneration rather than enemy attacks. especially if it’s a slowly attacking boss and you need to use some shield generating skills for either dps rotation or might upkeeping rotation if it becomes a thing.

as an edge mistress myself i completely support spider mounts and find it silly that arachnophobia is a thing that stops development. a lot of people fear heights yet you made a lot of vertical maps. its a game!!!

Raids are a tiny fraction of the game. If you can’t see beyond them, then I pity you.

it’s a huge fraction for where the class balance matters (wvw/pvp/raids-fotm)
and the flaws of necro are affecting every one of them, except zerging in wvw

they were supposed to take away shroud and give us the meaningful defense like blocks, evades, invulns yet they gave us something we already had in abundance – boon corrupts. come on.. why would i want to play this spec? taking away my greatsword doesnt help either.

also the barrier deteriorates by its own almost immediately so it’s really bad.

1 barrier is like entering 10% shroud and expecting to be protected from damage lol… why couldn’t the just give us aegis or blocks, or invulns???

i assume scourge meta build will be curses, soul reaping and scourge (ofc).
curses for bleed and scepter,
soul for dhuumfire and recharges
scourge gets torment DMG increase, traited expertise, burning on torment and burning on shroud skills after using punishment skills.

i expect torment sigil/tormenting rune to be tested and possibly used. especially the sigil
maybe smoldering
probably sinister gear will come back but not sure.

there also seems to be a might generating build which probably will be able to upkeep 25 might on allies with aristocracy runes, but obviously won’t be optimal with war/ele doing better job at it (ele gives better dps and warrior gives unique buffs).

the rotation will obviously involve scepter/dagger and torch rotating through with blood is power, F1 skills and possibly new utilities. i expect plaguelands to still be the dps elite skill.

since F skills only affect once per target, in pve we won’t have to upkeep more than one soul active. they have a casting time and spawning new ones doesn’t add dps. (unless boss moved so you have to place a new one). and maybe dhuumfire works only “on spawn” of f1, then we might have to spam new f1. we will see

Yes because raids you can stand still and dps you dont need to dodge: Seekers, blue circle, boss cleave, shake, smash, eggs, flaks, hadouken, red orbs…….. /s

Theres a diff between action combat and simply never getting hit by anything because aegis blocks evades and distorts and therefor trivialising the encounter.

Compairing it to raids is the funniest because raids suffer from your meaning of “action combat” more than anything with blocks evades and distorts soaking all the dmg to the point where not bringing a healer makes sense.

1. It’s not trivialised encounter if you avoid death by actively playing and paying attention. What is trivialised is relying on passive heals where you don’t need to pay attention.

2. Raids have pulsing dmg you need to outheal and sometimes even other factors like on Matthias (conditions, undodgeable ghosts) so calling raids “action combat” is the funniest. Raids are just golem benchmarks with heal check.

no, the rewards are practically the same if not better than before. you get both liquid gold from path and for repeatable achiev (+150 tokens). also token per path are increased and it adds up (if you have no recipes whatsoever, 1 path (100 tokens) equals ~60-100s. also tons of loot, lodestones, rares etc. AC even gives you lots of dust that got expensive nowadays. aether gives guaranteed skin selling for 2-10g.

fractal rewards aren’t significantly better unless you mean farming f40. kinda weak to compare farming to dung tours though

The voice line about social interaction is for the bomb, not the green circle. Most tells are completly fine once you figured them out.

i have all the mechanics figured out, my previous post was basically my “first impressions” and while i am familiar now, the criticism still stands. for a first timer the tells really are confusing as hell (unlike the first boss or nightmare cm etc)

So let’s just ditch the dodge system altogether and force players to spam heals like you do in raids? Not cool. I enjoy the action oriented combat, not traditional MMO which stacks on tanks/healers. I’d like to remind that Guild Wars 2 promised to break conventions of older MMOs, it was one of the main selling points and during dungeon times it was upholding that statement. It’s sad to see the game turning into something it wasn’t originally designed for.

But when ANeT removed the money incentive that speed running dungeons was built around the dungeon elitists began to disappear.

this is not entirely true.
while originally the money for dungeons was nerfed and people stopped doing them, later devs increased tokens and gold gain for dungeons in response to people’s outcry, but the mentality of not doing dungeons remained. + most people are kinda bored of this old content/not know it’s still good money if properly speedcleared.

+ a lot of old players quit the game and the new ones are used to condi meta and dont know dungeons so there’s also that.

That is intended, however currently it does not scale. The proper way to deal with it is a condi cleanse, resistance, or healing. We will be adding better scaling soon.

Why did you intend to damage players when they dodge the attack? That’s really unfair. When I dodge I expect to be protected from damage.

Fractals : Good grief, this gamemode have been designed for necromancers with mobs that produce boons so that you can finally find boons to corrupt. The necromancer innae survivability also make wonder here.

are you kidding me? mesmer can corrupt boons just as well and necro doesnt have survivability AT ALL. zero blocks, evades, invulns, mobility, nothing.

I just realised on normal mode you dont even get any reward chest for the first two bosses. Every fractal rewards you at various steps, be it dulfy in urban, champions in uncat, anomaly in chaos. Here you get nothing. wtf

while i dont hate the fractal, i hate how they design them. they were supposed to be mini dungeons and dungeons let you explore a little, its not just straight line you follow. early fractals were good at conveying this, now nightmare and cosmic are just 3 bosses next to each other. i wanted the nightmare fractal to be exactly like in the living world, it had vertical levels, rooms and a big arena on top. it was fun. what they made in a fractal is 10% of what it should’ve looked like.

telegraphs of the third boss are really badly designed – unintuitive and chaotic. nightmare CM clearly shows all attacks, boss animation provides knowledge of what is gonna happen. here you only got this asura aiming bazooka in the sky. then you get a green circle which asks you to avoid social interaction but in fact you need to stack together so this is contradictory and confusing as hell. i don’t enjoy it.

they can change the functionality just for pve though and leave pvp version as it is, although i do believe necro in pvp should get this version as well since the class has no mobility, no blocks, no evades, no invulns. its a free target.

I support the whole idea with all my heart. Necro doesn’t have any active damage mitigation unless you’re a sylvari. No evades, no blocks, no invulns. Something must be done for this weak class already

T5 would be fun with rolling a random fractal, perma combat, no ressing, no /gg, extra instabilities and better rewards. But it still wouldn’t be as hard as it should be.
T5 fractals should be modified like:
- not able to use the fan at Old Tom, last golems are champions
- urban should have the barricades made in a way that makes you run all the paths possible, boss should summon ballistas and arrow carts
- volcanic should be filled with the rolling boulders constantly threatening the areas.
