And already there’s the conspiracy theories about Allie’s “sickness” again. Sigh. I shouldn’t be surprised or disheartened, but I still am.
I’ll note, approaching a CDI with the attitude of “well they won’t listen anyway” or “it doesn’t matter, just a publicity stunt” isn’t going to be of any use if they’re a legitimate attempt. All it’s going to do is be not-helpful, and if enough people do it I’m relatively sure ANet will just give up for real.
TL:DR? “This is why we can’t have nice things.”
From the CDI page 17
“Yes, like I said about the sustained vs burst, it’s not necessarily fully functional in the game. This is one of those things that we would have to balance with bringing other classes down a bit as far as damage output. Burst damage needs to have risk involved, and we know that right now many classes don’t have that associated risk.”TLDR: “The other professions are why we can’t have anything.”
Is that what you read? What I read is “we need to figure out how to get their damage figures down without everyone quitting”, and “burst damage is generally broken anyway”.
Not that the second one is a surprise to me, there’s few games where throwing bursts around has much of a downside short of allowing friendly fire damage.
More like they want the Ranger to be like the Pyro from TF2 and burst classes to work like the Spy. High risk, but high lethality as well. Burst is powerful but countered by steady, flowing sustained damage.
Problem is that the current dynamic is so utterly different from TF2’s balance it’s like night and day. And, as I’ve said before, the sun will explode before their glacial balance pace ever makes this system a reality. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s hopes dwindled dramatically when she posted that.
The Pyro’s sustained damage is quite a bit higher than what other classes are capable of in TF2. The sustained model may work if your DPS was 50% higher than the sustained of every other class and only their burst was able to close the gap. Here, our sustained is below that of every other class and their burst just widens the gap even further.
True, I mean that’s what they want us to be, or think the game should be working.
It’s a nice idea, but they didn’t design the game to be that way and god knows how long it will take for them to change things to match their vision.
Personally, I just don’t see them nerfing the auto attack damage (source of sustained dps) of thieves, warriors, mesmers, and guardians to be less than that of rangers, I just don’t. They said they don’t want to buff us instead so I have no idea what will come of this new vision of theirs.
It sounded more like “here’s our grand 5-year plan so stop asking for burst already” than anything else.

pff what? Feel free to show just 1 vid of a zerk ranger taking down a zerk theif 1v1.
Theory crafting hypotheticals is all well and good but show it working in reality.1 backstab and 1 auto attack chain is all it takes to down a zerk ranger. There’s no contest. Not when steal shadowsteps you 1500 units.
Oh come on now, someone posted a thread of what class you most like to engage in WvW roaming and thief was number 1. They’re one trick ponies. It’s not theorycrafting, it’s how it goes down because thieves have a predictable pattern. I’m sure many will relate.
I have never been able to get TS or video recording to work on my computer, but if no one vouches for me on this I will make a serious effort to video me killing thieves 1v1, because it’s important to me to show LB rangers are roaming-viable.
Edit: And I am talking about the backstab thieves. I refuse to acknowledge the existance of perma stealth thieves. I will even go so far as to WP away from them.
D/D thieves are just as bad. You can’t kite a good one because they will just CnD off the pet. They aren’t impossible to beat but a ranger with base armor and 15k health isn’t going to cut it. Not when I can still take 6-7k backstabs and 4k heartseekers with 2800-2900 armor.
People like engaging thieves because they are hard to kill 1v1. It’s a metric of one’s skill. No one is going to vote for cheese bunker roamers because those fights are long and boring and more about who traited for better sustain than who played the best.
If you don’t have signet of beastmaster, you’re not beating any thief. This should have been a skirmishing trait.
Totally disagree with this. Typical thief encounter, see thief in distance, he stealths, you estimate time for him to get in backstab or C&D and sword 2 away. Immobilize him and in the same instant you hit him for half his health he breaks out. He shadowsteps to you, you dodge away and knock him down. He gets up and either your pet CCs him a final time and he dies or he stealths and you’ve already started rapid fire. He reappears somewhere downed.
There are like 5 other choose your own adventures I can do with this but you get the idea. It’s always berserker vs berserker and thieves are not good at that vs ranger.

It stopped being worth it when they changed how Quickness works. I never spec for BM but I would assume the pet only Healsig effect is much more valuable if you spent that many points on the pet. Especially in any pvp setting.
Rangers, the only class that can justify using Prayer to Kormir (or most any racial that isn’t that ridiculous Leopard Form)
But, ya, AlphaK is right. Put it in the second utility slot and you will get a target any time you recall the pet. First time it happened to me I thought they made guard’s functionality a normal pet feature…
Same reason it can’t give history about the server’s performance last tourney. They put in the guy but they haven’t turned him on fully.
The only thing anyone can count on is balance changes are probably not going to happen during WvW Season2 March28-May30
So either next Tuesday, or not until June.

The rule of thumb is: 1 click = 1 action
If your autoclicker is 1 click = 250 actions, that’s breaking the rules, thus a ban.
The rule of thumb for autoclickers is not 1 click = 1 action, it is 1 click = 1 function, which is a big difference.
The 1 click = 1 action rule is related to macros, you are not allowed to program a macro that enables you to clickitteny once and your character performs multiple actions that dont have the same function.
Concerning auto clickers Gaile Said:
“You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere.”
So if your autoclicker requires you to hold down your mouse pointer over a stack of lootbags of essences of luck and you cant perform anything else while doing it, its fine. Thats how i interpret it.
But Gaile does go on to elaborate that she means " it must require one keystroke per action". If a function allows an action to be done multiple times with 1 click, that would be breaking the rules.
They have implied several times that even basic “rapid fire” macros, ones that click dozens of times per stroke, count as “not allowed”.
“You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere.”
One could assume this applies to rapid fire macros as well though use of such may set off bot flags anyway.
Defending in this game is pointless unless you outnumber the people outside, In which case you’ll win the fight.
Depends. I’ve seen 60+ man zergs pack up an go home because a 5 man team on well placed sup carts kept them from placing rams or cats.
Not sure if that’s balanced or not, but it usually comes down to “Is the tower scouted and does it have sufficient and well placed counter-siege?” more than “Do we have the numbers to PVD this gate?”
I suppose open field trebs always work if you hilariously outnumber the opponent but everyone always seems too impatient or lazy to even try it.
I just had the strangest thought – the WvW subforum is like a school. We, the players are like the big bad bullies. We want answers(bully) from the devs(the snotty rich kids). The devs don’t reply(the kids hide) and send the moderators after us(and send the adults after us). We threat with leaving the game/not buying any more gems(the bullies swear revenge).
I actually thought it describes the situation quite accurately.
More like we have a car that needs a new component after a recall. Anet says they have the parts on order but aren’t sure when it will arrive. It’s been months, they won’t tell us when the order will arrive or if it will ever arrive and they are the only company with access to the parts.
Every time we try to get answers personally they have security escort us off the premises.
The big thing people miss is that expansions aren’t just expansions to explorable content and new dungeons, they are expansions to game mechanics as well. New pvp modes, new skills, new minigames, new ways to earn rewards or new types of rewards. Often games will introduce new classes or new races to play that can change the faction vs faction dynamic or make the world feel more alive. I remember playing EvE when they released the planetary survey expansion. While not the most well recieved expansion, it was still a massive, new way to play the game that was unlike anything they had already and gave a purpose to things that were in the game mostly for flavor. Planets had no use, you just warped to them and they made it look like you were in space. Suddenly, they all had types and certain types yielded different kinds of resources and you competed with other players for those resources. A whole new way to play the game opened up and people had a new set of toys to play with and learn.
We really haven’t gotten much of any of that. As someone pointed out, we are playing the same fundamental game we bought back in 2012. We have no new spvp zones. WvW has never broken free from zerg/coverage to win. We have only gotten 1 new skill per class. We are still going zerk or going home for pve. And finally, we have only had 1 new pve map (zephyr was more of a town). We have gotten new dungeons and paths but they still suffer from the same issues that have plagued dungeons and pve since the start.
We’ve gotten a lot of fluff, temp content and many folks have certainly paid more than enough gems to simulate purchasing an expansion, but the LS just isn’t one. Not when the game and world it’s in is no bigger or complex than it was at the start.
(edited by Substance E.4852)
A open all option would be great. I’ve already destroyed left click on one mouse.
^ This
Gaming mice aren’t cheap and it sucks to have one with a young body but the left click of an old man after a few months.
If we aren’t allowed to use rapid fire macros, then stop putting everything in stacks of randy bags that we have to button mash over and over. Those LA rescue bags were insane.
“Dye unlocks now come only from crafting and from the gem store.”
One pack is two and a half euros. A subscription is around thirteen euros, give or take a few euros depending on the game and possible discount for making a bulk purchase. So for that amount I can choose to obtain five packs (adding up to 25 common and 10 uncommon or rare) in GW2 or get full access to all items in another game for a month.
Uh-huh.
Wildstar offers 250+ account bound dyes and you only have to pay $15 a month and that includes all the features not just the dyes (such as teleport your whole party to you every 60 minutes ($15 for a single person on an 8 hour CD in GW2 China)).
You would need to play Wildstar a full year in order to spend the same amount of money just to use all the dyes in this new dye system in GW2…
Cool, but do you think WS will have an intensive pace of profession balance and improvement patches like GW2?
A game that charges you per month for access has a direct incentive to keep people playing. People stop playing if the game stagnates too long. If I take a break for a month or two or more, that’s money they don’t make. GW just needs us to log in for 5 minutes a month, buy $10-20 worth of gems on overpriced armor sets and they get the same money for a fraction of the effort. Doesn’t matter if we don’t play. and even if many of us don’t buy gems, there is always that group of gambling addicts with disposable income buying dozens of BLkeys every time they release a new weapon set.
It’s no big mystery why every LS update was about a day’s worth of content with several Gem Store tie-ins. Hell, the last two LA metas took a day to finish and the only reason anyone stuck around was because the gold flowed like spice and the hat tokens were time gated after they fixed the bug.
That’s not to say they won’t crash and burn with WS. I just suspect we’ll see a much more rigorous level of updates from them because they can’t afford to have people “take a break for a while”.
The effect on kill should be expanded to all applicable weapons, not just Legendaries.
I fear, ANets silence is the only reason why people are still here.
If the one patch people await will be less than uber awesome, people will get mad. ANet probably is afraid to see the reaction on what they have to offer.
Well i think they just don’t know how to treat the players or don’t want to talk. This is the first game i play in which people really try hard to get around with certain problems (no gvg, spvp tournament problems, overflow mechanic) which don’t get fixed or are heard by Anet. So there is/was so much sympathy by players. But nothing happens.
But on the otherside Anet employees hype upcoming patches or LS parts like there is no tomorrow. And at the end it’s quite disillusioning.
In 2 weeks ESO is going to launch and there is nothing said about the near future by Anet (oh sorry i forgot the new wvw season, wohooo).
Oh that’s okay. Nothing has changed in WvW since season two except server density and guild locations. If anything it will be even less exciting since the pve AP grinders won’t be around as long trying to complete the meta.
I fear, ANets silence is the only reason why people are still here.

And suddenly we all realize why they decided to hide it behind 11 weeks of dubveedub tourney time.

just lower your kittening expectations.
Well, this CDI was the first thread about a serious problem in GW2, you could call it their debut. And they could’ve done better. Way better. I, for myself, will hinge my faith in ArenaNet on the outcome of this CDI.
no. world population and pvp game modes are both more important. they affect overall game health much more significantly than a single class’s balance. game modes have nothin as of yet, population imbalance is in its infancy.
Pvp game modes are a direct result of balanced classes. The best pvp maps/modes ever made are worth crap if the classes in them aren’t properly balanced.
And as far as population goes, I know that a good way to ensure it doesn’t grow is to neglect class balance. I wouldn’t invest in a game with rampant class imbalance even if it favored my preferred play style. It shows a lack of attention from the staff and that they don’t care about their players enough to present a level playing field. It’s a good sign to look other places for an MMO.
allie put that into the cdi
then it was discussed for about 2 or 5 pages, and she took that discussion into considerationthen it was buried under another 30 pages of proposals
She said that was only part of the ideas she forwarded to the devs.
Allie isn’t a developer, shes a community coordinator.
I mean a person who physically works on the game compiling a list that caught their eyes specifically, that they would then be discussing as possible changes.
just lower your kittening expectations.
If they get any lower they’ll become negative expectations and I believe that would rip a hole in the fabric of spacetime.
In all seriousness though, a summery of what they liked and what they are currently thinking about as far as changes for the class would go a long way. Their lack of feedback/communication in general is what causes issues in every part of these forums, not just ours.
Most of the time, we have no idea what they are working on till its live.

Timeline of WvW’s Role in Legendary Production
-Gift of Battle is needed to make a Legendary for 500badges
-You used to have to kill players to get the badges. There was no other source.
-These badges dropped a lot less frequently than they do today.
-They created achievement chests that gave ~1000 badges by 5000 points.
-People stopped needing to WvW to buy the Gift of Battle.
-Anet reintroduces a need to actually play WvW to buy the WvW gift that you have always needed
-People start to complain they have to pause weeks of grinding mats/tokens to spend a couple days in a WvW zerg.
To be fair though, it is heart warming to see us all put our server nerdrage aside to rage at a common problem. Kudos for solving one issue by creating a massively larger one Anet.
Also, I know the balance patch had been delayed until summer, but it will be at least October by the time the profession CDI are done so don’t expect anything meaningful to come to fruition until 2015.
lol and then we’ll all have EQ:Next to look froward to.
(…)
That’s why I would like to just make 1 thread at a time, 1 week at a time, 1 topic at a time, and gather everyone’s opinions in one place for each different aspect of the Ranger, no matter who is giving the opinion. An outsider/inexperienced perspective isn’t going to be as good as an insider/experienced perspective, but, the way other professions see the Ranger is still valuable. The need to summarize the threads is important though, and its something that none of us were willing to do with the Ranger CDI…If we can summarize all the posts into an easy to read format like what people did early on to some of the other CDI threads, I think it just might work.
THIS! For the love of god, this! I am of the firm belief that one reason for the derailment of the conversation was the (as the SOTC guys called it) “wannabe game devs” posting their entire redo of the class. Every weapon skill. Every trait. In back to back posts. (I’m looking at you Orpheal.8263 and friends.)
The CDI concept is new so I hope they’ve learned from it, but it should have been more directed just like how you’ve suggested. I am most worried that Allie will be so discouraged as to not give this a second, better shot.
Good, she’s not a dev and shouldn’t have been running our CDI. Look at the one that ran at the same time for Fractals. You had an actual dev posting regularly. That’s the kind of thing that gives people feedback so they know their ideas are heard and lets them explain things to us in a way only a person who actually works on the game can.
I feel like a lot of people wouldn’t have spammed the crap out of the thing if we didn’t go 10+ pages at time between “I’ll show this to the staff” and “rangers can’t have burst because your special”
Telling us we can;t have burst because there is too much and that they would rather nerf every other class so we aren’t disadvantaged? lolwut? At the glacial pace they update, the sun will explode before that plan comes to fruition. Pretty obvious why we would harp on that as being a bad idea than just accept it.
They should have also put at the very beginning what was currently being worked on, what is not a possible change, and detailed explanations of what they think the ranger’s role in every major game mode should be. We got none of that and spent the whole time throwing paper airplanes down a dark hallway, with a few flying back with the words “looks interesting” written on them.
Without active feedback, the whole thing was just them crowd sourcing ideas, 99.9% of which they new, from the get go, they would ignore completely.
(edited by Substance E.4852)
No one can “tank” in PvE. U can be max useless by maximizing personal defense, but u can´t tank.
Pretty much this ^
Even with how tanky necros can be without trying, they are still even less desirable than Rangers on paper when making a dungeon team (in realty most just auto kick when they see the paw print though)

1.Please keep the modes APART.
2. If you refuse to play the class as intended by the developers, then you will not be successful. .Two statements that should be stamped on the forehead of every Ranger new or old
You’re right. But I refuse to play a class as intended that is designed without reason and common sense. ANet’s fault, not the players.
Doesn’t that kind of go without saying?
I wont be playing Wildstar. I can’t stand the look of it. Same thing with Warlords of Draenor. Both games getting hyped, but I can’t stand the cartoon characters.
Why would I ever complain about that? they have a product. The consumer either agrees with the product…or not.
Disagreeing with aesthetic choices is different from disagreeing with mechanics choices that don’t work. It’s unreasonable to expect a game to look/feel such that everyone loves it stylistically. It’s a whole other thing to expect a game to work correctly, and not an unreasonable one at that.
I, and many others, bought the game knowing full well the Ranger had a pet %100 of the time. I actually welcomed this, I thought “hey, maybe they figured out how to make it work in a way that it didn’t in GW1. Maybe I can have a functional pet without having to sacrifice survivability/playerdamage”
Instead, we got a pet that brings virtually no advantage to the class and actually hurts us in many spots because it can die and take both our damage and utility with it. Had I known that, I and many others, probably wouldn’t have bought the game.
ok, we agree on that. I thought you were alluding to something else. If you were happy with the pet idea, then you are completely correct in not being happy with how the pet actually works.
It’s actually part of the reason I even bother staying on. I’ve seen them do amazing things in GW1 and I still feel the pet can work, it’s just going to take more prodding than I ever thought necessary.
It took ~4 years just for them to drop the silly “Charm Pet” requirement and let us use pets without wasting a skill slot. Hopefully we’ll see something like that one day.
They’ll probably hold it till March 28th right before ESO release, that’s usually how MMO companies do it.
Only if they want to lose what little hardcore WvW community they have left. Launching a massive update that will be plagued with bugs the day Season2 of WvW launches is a sure fire way to get them to all try ESOL if for no other reason than Anet’s lack of respect for the game mode. It has more team synergy combat and can support 100+ people in one area with little to no server lag.
PvE in it may be a bit lame, but the WvW is good enough to drain Anet’s WvW if they do something stupid.
Oh…it doesn’t matter when they let loose that patch..
That ship has already sailed….ESO is going to take a chunk of WvWers from this game
Ya, if gameplay vids didn’t make it look like one big fanmade Skyrim mod and it didn’t have a sub fee (I’ll pay for good games, not for meh games) I’d check it out. I’ll probably let it marinate for a couple months before I seriously consider trying it.
They took 15 months to remove the ledge that allowed you to jump over jerrifers gate. I expect that adjusting actual code will take at least 6 more months.
Still wasn’t as bad as the “No outer Bay walls for you” treb spot in Garrison.
I don’t blame Allie. It was just she did not have the time to discuss ideas and build a proposal for the important issues of the Ranger (like perma-stowing, pet AI, traps, no burst damage, etc), which is clearly what the Ranger CDI needed.
Of course, if we get a redo, and I sincerely hope we do, I would be overjoyed to have a dev who can more quickly discuss what is viable and liked.
She wasn’t a Dev though. She is a Community Coordinator which I can only assume is a type of PR role. Any discussion she had with us had to mostly use her to transmit dev ideas to us and vice versa. It didn’t help when she threw out things like we aren’t a burst class while not being in a position to be able to explain why we don’t have burst in a game that seems to be built around burst for power builds. Things like that only breed frustration. If we came away with more questions than answers at the end of the CDI then it failed horribly.
Things would have been a lot more constructive if the actual devs had taken a break from fawning over the Fractal CDI to talk to us as well.
league probably doesnt start till that friday?
It starts the 28th of March and goes till April 30th. The only updates we’ll see during that time are probably going to be pve content like a slowly rebuilding LA or another trip to the SAB on April 1st.

Just a note of interest.
I’m playing around with a Nature’s Voice build and I noticed something rather odd.
Why does Guard have a 1 sec cast time? Really, I want to know.
I can’t make heads or tails of it, that a skill type which has always been defined by having instant cast times, doesn’t.
Not that the rest of their functionality has anything to do with shouts either.
It’s just a really weird design choice. Can’t remember the name, but he will make an appearance telling you that it needs a 1 sec cast time or else it would be overpowered. That a shout isn’t always a shout
And he makes an appearance! But, Its getting pointless to keep arguing this against you guys. I mean, yeah, sure, it gives your pet 10 seconds of Stealth and Guard to start with, and that balancing considerations were made, (and had to be), when thinking of traits like Nature’s Voice and Shout Mastery (plus the 30% boon duration in nature magic to get nature’s voice), and I would have to say that its a pretty balanced skill because it keeps your pet alive even through boss fights, and it gives you a source of regen and swiftness if you don’t have any. Not all skills need to deal damage, and not all skills need to affect allies by default, even if they are shouts. It could benefit the Ranger a little more by default, so it would be a useful skill without needing to waste 40 trait points, but the skill isn’t terrible in its current form.
Oh wait, I forgot! you guys don’t care about all that! I could explain all day why Guard works the way it works, but, Just like the “Stealth, Cool!!!” people on the longbow, there are the “Its supposed to be instant, nothing else matters!!” people when it comes to shouts.
Dude, just let it go. None of us with your “logic” and you aren’t going to convince us with fairy tails of how “borderline OP” Guard is.

I disagree with this. The vast majority of people will remain loyal to their servers. The big guilds will server-hop and leave when <insert_current_server_name> goes anywhere near gold league.
I just mean that this is the reason that we deal with massive guild migrations. It starts with the fair-weather guilds leaving but then more and more start to leave when getting curb-stomped becomes a nightly affair. Soon there’s no one left who has an organized group and eventually even the pug commanders stop logging in because no one enjoys herding cats who don’t use TS.
Its more on the lines the players are killing wvw. Games that are RvRvR live off of players competitive ways. If the players do not have pride in there world or there realm then there is no point in RvRvR in the first places.
Agreed. There is no server identity anymore. Most (not all) wvw guilds are responsible for causing the rift between player and server identity. There are not many guilds that have actually stayed on their server from day one without transferring. Most guilds are just looking for fights rather than ppt, which is really hurting some servers as well as the community. WvW is for fighting against other servers to see who can win by PPT, not kills. I really wish Anet would make a guild arena where guilds could match up with other guilds from other servers to fight (kinda like LFG); I bet you it will reduce the amount of massive server transfers (and transfers overall) we have seen lately.
It should never have been about servers in the first place. It should have been about guilds. Everything in this game should be about guilds.
There could be 3 main alliances and a guild could only represent one of these 3 alliances. Let’s scrap the server system.
I disagree, although guilds do play a role in the game, it should not evolve around them. There are people that don’t want to be in a guild and you can’t force them to be in one. One person I saw on this thread stated that Anet does not want to make any significant changes to WvW, in fear that they may unintentionally ruin it. I agree, the only thing they can do is to test features they want to add into the game before rolling them out and hope that the community accepts them. I like the server system and I still think there should be server transfers. The thing is that the community (in particular the WvWvW guilds) needs to accept that they are responsible for ruining the experience in WvWvW. By abandoning servers, it basically forces new players and other players alike to buy gems to transfer to another server to get the WvWvW experience. I think this is truly unfortunate, but some things you can’t really regulate, you can only inform people so they know before hand.
You can’t blame people for taking advantage of a bad system.
Coverage = victory in WvW. You either have it or you don’t.
They created a bad system and it’s not our fault that people choose to use it as well as we can. It’s not fun to lose to a group 3 times your size or to log in every day and find all the work you put in last night to be undone because your server has no coverage during certain periods when the opponents have good coverage. Eventually people won’t stand for it anymore and will move to tiers where they don’t have to deal with population blackouts or lopsided match-ups.
No you can, If people know it is a bad system, they have no right to abuse it.
You must be new to online, multiplayer gaming.
I guess it’s the players’ fault that the Hammer Train is so powerful because we blob it, not because anet decided to stick spammable CC on a dps and tank class.
Gloves are probably Noble Gloves.

EOTM has an amazing map design, most people complaining about the map don’t know it well enough. It gives multiple options to go to different locations and travel times really aren’t that long.
People dying because they get knocked off is just you losing a fight. And yes it is only you and you and you. Nothing to do with the map design. Most pushbacks/pulls can be dodged. So it is your own fault if you fall off.
But why not, let’s make this game easier. Let us make it so easy you don’t need skill at all. Give perma stability because using that dodge key is so dam hard.
I smell a warrior that never leaves home without “Stomp” and “Fear Me!”
There are such type of suggestion in last CDI but seems Anet doesn`t want to go for “one big server” and “red vs blue vs green” that works well at EOTM and may be in ESO. I think this would be good dessision for “dead” servers and adress question about “pride” from server to guild.
It works in ESO because each faction is distinct and you do the story associated with the faction so you should identify with it more. EOTM is only a colour, how do you identify with that.
True, but each color has a themed zone with specific npc factions guarding it. Obviously such a system would need massive expansion to feel complete but it’s possible. We have 3 different world organizations we can join in the personal story could also be used to make each color feel alive and different.
3. When porting to a specific waypoint in another borderland, often you just get ported to the citadel/entrance waypoint instead of the one you clicked..
Next time that happens, check the WP you tried to zone to. Often when I get this bug, it’s because I tried to WP to a keep that became contested in the time it took for me to click the icon and the game to load me into the map proper.
Every 3-4 months, yeah. Guild Wars 1 was the same way though, so I personally didn’t expect much different, but I agree that it is totally frustrating especially when the outcry for necessary balance changes is completely and totally warranted.
True, but GW1 would change the meta overnight with their scorched earth balancing. It sucked when your build got destroyed, but it kept things fresh and interesting.
Smart money says the 2nd Tuesday in April. Balance devs said there would be a break period for them after the first season of the living world ends (it ends on the 18th), and the Friday Ready Up schedule has been changes to have one every Friday until the first week of April (the 4th) and then not having the next one until the 18th of April.
Could be sooner than that, but it would be highly unexpected and unlikely. As far was we know, the 18th is just glory removal and bug fixes, and the only other information we have about the date of the next “feature” build (aka balance patch) is that it’s happening before June.
Unlikely as they try to avoid any mechanics updates during WvW seasons and the next one goes from the 28th of March to May 30th.
It’d be unwise to place a huge balance change, one that likely also changes the way sigils work, in the middle of a tournament.

Implemented: ???Ye, I am quite dismayed at the length of time it’s taking to implement such a simple-looking change. It leaves me wondering if there will ever be fixes to a lot of WvW’s major problems.
My optimistic(!) guess is that we will have to wait for Guild Wars 3 to get the improvements to WvW-style gameplay that we all want to see.
Considering how little they care for wvw, GW3 won’t even have it and will just be spvp (still one mode because #yolo) with a gem store and some how LS in the spvp maps because temp content is boss as kitten.
Reviewers will play a day of it, give it 5 stars, and it will win the company “Game of the Year” a second time.
Not everyone wants to play a tanky turtle good thing not all professions are the same.
Then don’t roll a heavy armor profession? In most every game that gives a crap about balance, heavy classes are slow tanks. Only anet seems to think tanks should also be heavy hitters with superb mobility.
I don’t know what games you have played but in most games warrior is a dps class.
Lancers, paragons, paladins, guardians, protectors you name it are usually tank.
Also you should know by now there is no trinity here.
Cool beans, then maybe warriors should lose their sustain abilities and heavy armor/hp and should instead rely on evades for tanking because they are a “dps class”.
Warrior in GW2 =/= Warrior in Terra.

First of all, March 18 is only a “clean up” build. They’ll remove glory and the current LS, not much more. Then there are 2 other builds coming, the feature build and a balance patch. The ranger CDI will be seen in none I think. The CDI discussion must go through the entire development pipe-line, so I don’t expect to see any of that no less than half a year down the line.
WvW season 2 starts the 28th. If we don’t get it in the next 2 weeks we wont for another 11.
We have revealed previously that someday, there will be Guild Halls in the game yes.
I am happy to predict the release date: 22th August 2017, one month before Guild Wars 3 will be announced.
Ho, ho boy! Chill down! With this speed of providing new content, in 2017 wewill be possibly on 5th Dragon and still sitting in Tyria
I think you meant 2nd dragon.
Why would anyone ever miss being pigeon-holed into a one-dimensional role, spending ages looking for a tank or healer or playing either of those two simply out of necessity?
Trinity as a gameplay mechanic should have died in the 90’s along with most archaic MMO design.
GW2 does have control, support and damage. The reason that some of the player-base rejects the game’s approach to them is because those roles are tied neither to professions nor to gear. Apparently, this is too much of a hurdle for people used to thinking in terms of how roles are handled in other games — where the trinity roles are tied both to character class/profession and to gear type.
Exactly what it comes down to. I’ve played every class and they all have weaknesses where the others excel. If that isn’t support at a basic level, I don’t know what is.
I’m sorry, what weaknesses do Guardians and Warriors have in PvE that are filled in by classes other than boon spam Ele? In what way is CC a class role at all when Defiant exists? What class is specifically a support class first and deeps class second if at all?
Hell, what strength do condition classes have over power classes when enemies have a condition cap?
