We tried out a thief trap yesterday, tripwire. The guild was curious.
First attempt: Getting chased by one person. Instant cast. Looking pretty good. Dropped it right in the path. Person following went around.
Second attempt: Attacking a tower. Put it in a choke so we can finish capping. Supposed to knock down five. It got one.
The guardian implementation is going to have to be much better than this.
Traps are the same mechanic as marks. I bet you wouldn’t mind if it were placing “light marks” which triggered an effect when an enemy or ally entered the area (offensive or supportive effect depending).
They will just be like symbols, only they don’t activate unless triggered by someone entering the area. Isn’t that better?
I agree the name is lame. Both DragonHunter and “Traps.” It should be something relating to light-wielding, and “Marks.”
Depends. The ranger traps are being adjusted to have a timer delay to activate after being placed. So if you place it under an opponent and he moves off the trap before it is primed, it doesn’t activate. If guardian traps are like that, then not as good as marks.
Depending on implementation it may be extremely difficult to use against a skilled opponent.
As someone in T2, go with what Liston said. As for the people bashing the other servers, to be honest, usually the bitterest people post on the forums so it is really not a good indicator of what a server is like.
I am on FA. I have friends on YB. They tell me that YB has a great community, one of the best they have experienced. They traveled servers a lot. I have every reason to believe them.
FA has a great community too.
However, every community is not for everyone. Unfortunately, you really need to just experience it and see.
Hmm. Interesting. Guess I had to be there, CD or HOD to really have a complete picture.
Being hostile doesn’t stop the bandwagon. HOD did that last time in the most explicit terms you can expect. People showed up anyway. Mind you, this is second hand from me and reading the forum posts from HOD telling people to GTFO.
Well, we will see with the trait revamp. If it introduces a new interesting build to work towards, it’s all good.
However, if I need to do major grinding for another ascended set to just get back to what I had before, I just don’t have it in me to do that. That also includes doing whatever to get back the traits that are still here and I had before the update.
It is a reflection on the community our reaction to him, be it positive or negative.
It is a reflection on him that he has failed to communicate anything. Being sick is a perfectly valid reason to not perform work. It is not a valid reason to fail to take three minutes to post that you have been sick and cannot do the work.
If he has decided to not do this, that is fine. He should say he is not doing it. His behavior is somewhat irresponsible on his part.
Easter weekend actually makes the map cap a bit irrelevant. Well, I suppose if it continues for a while. The queues have actually been smaller on FA and from what I have seen, the population on SOS and YB have also been smaller.
I suppose we should continue the fiction that the server populations actually behave differently.
Sorry, I lost my notes. What am I supposed to accuse the other servers in my tier of doing? Am I supposed to still hate on the doylak parade?
Look. They are advertising to rebuild a tier in a manner they like. They don’t care about T1.
Remember T3 , this is a thread about T3.
Good luck guys. Hope you have success in reestablishing T3.
Actually it looks more like two days if they don’t switch it back soon. But whatever. All I know there was a huge population drop in WvW in general yesterday on my server.
But I am sure it was just a coincidence.
Yeah should have gone with the tonic. Losing the combat animation had me a bit off and significantly lessened my enjoyment of wvw. I should have just skipped today. I will skip next year.
It’s the weekend. Pretty sure a mod is not going to look at this until someone reports a post.
Don’t you have to take into account the fairweather effect? Whether any server wants to admit or not, every server will have a significant portion of their population long in more often and longer when winning and log in less often and shorter when losing.
Though if it was a constantly recalculated metric, that could work. The only question would be if it could react fast enough to changing circumstances.
The whole situation is simply moronic. When does Crowfall and Camelot Unchained release again?
I am simply explaining to you what happened when the fall tourney was announced. It’s a fact. If you have a problem with facts about what happened in the past, take it up with someone that owns a time machine. Please do not throw personal insults me anymore. I am only talking about what happened in the past, and it’s not like I’m the only person who knows about it. Perhaps you should be informed yourself.
Do you have evidence of those facts or links to them?
What specifically are you claiming is a personal insult? I hardly describe calling someone out on flinging accusations, while failing to support those accusation with no evidence, as personal attacks.
You claim it as “common knowledge” in the same fashion that scholars claimed the misconception that the earth was flat as “common knowledge” for centuries. It appears even more malicious, given that you offer no evidence that you were part of those communities, or their discussion, and apparently on an entirely different server.
Eh, SOS and FA tanked to get out of gold league last fall?
1) Don’t see how that would have been possible.
2) Very certain that was not what was going on in FA and just as positive about SOS.The only server in T2 that was trying to leave gold league in the fall was Maguuma, for very good reason since most of the guilds left or went to Archeage.
I find the assertion by Ark somewhat inaccurate in my opinion.
The ‘race’ was for the top t3 servers not to advance to t2 should maguuma fall fast enough before the tourney (cd says they wanted gold, but it didn’t seem like they all did as they were invisible at times too).
There were 5 servers in t3 / t4 that were very close swapping wins until the tourney was announced… The tourney occured, people started moving for easy wins… Tourney ended, mags dropped down, people moved to YB – cluster**** started….
Absolutely agree that was what happened. Well, if that is what he meant, ok, I agree. Not what was actually written in the post.

Judging from the OP, he actually means the T3 matchup because it always has one T2 level server on it and been that way for months. The T2 matchup is actually reasonably close, but the T3 matchup has been broken for way too long.
What i’m seeing repeated is that posters from balanced tiers, or with stable populations (T2+) are more likely to approve of the change.
Defensively minded players in matchups where there are not enough players are quitting entirely (no upgrades, no saving keeps, fewer call-outs are all symptomatic of defenders getting fed up doing something else)
Offensively minded players like this change because it means they get to PvD and take stuff without getting stopped.
Fighters do not like this change as it’s impossible to draw out a fight by tapping structures,
Roamers do not like this change because they wander aimlessly following sentry flips, camp flips and yaks and are finding fewer and fewer fights. As the fights dwindle, the roamers move to SPvP, because you can’t NOT fight them in there. Roamers leaving affects defenders, and you’re in danger of slipping into a negative feedback loop.
My guild is a havoc guild on FA. Pretty much everyone in the guild except for one person strongly disapproves of this change.
We used to be a very defensive chase down the other havocs type of guild. Now, we pretty much just go to the other borderlands and ninja stuff till we get bored.
Shrug, we can chase down the predicable roamers just fine. The ones that vary their routine just are hard to find and quite frankly, the game play of chasing people across the map is extremely tedious.
Well, I am improving my sPvP and dungeon running skills now.
This tournament has sparked our guild’s interest in sPvP.
FA does have late night PST NA, which is after midnight PST. Well, very little.
And let’s be honest, on most servers, it is a dead zone.
BUS’s goal was to paper everything, not just cap paper stuff. We worked on cutting off all supply lines, then slowly breaking down a fortified keep/garrison to end up taking it and papering it. It was all about taking their shiny and breaking waypoints… thats it. That was our fun.
And by “they” he means FA’s home bl waypoints, which pulled FA off of SoSBL and EBG time and time again, giving the night time SoS blob free reign.
Oh no, we also tried to take SoS’s stuff. There were just so many of them, all the time, in every tower and every keep that they just wiped us constantly. 10+ of us, versus SO MANY of them.
As someone on FA I have to say about BUS.
1) They knew what they were doing as far as ninjaing towers and keeps.
2) They are one of the few medium size guilds that were willing to try to take on waypointed keeps and one of the fewer still willing to wear it down instead of ninja it. I even named a wall in Bay after them.
3) Even though open fighting is not their strength, if it was close to even numbers, they stood and fought almost always to the last man.
I understand that things no longer worked out for you on Mag. This guardian from WS wishes you luck in your new home and hope that you continue to enjoy the game and play the game your way.
The not working weekends for this comment while completely understandable was really ill advised. Having worked fifteen hours this last weekend to fix critical bugs for a software push, I actually understand their position on not working on this bug this weekend.
However, given the rather poor PR this bug is tied to, more regular updates should occur to indicate that they are on top of the issue even if the update is that no progress has been made today. It is an indicator of how on top of the issue Anet is.

While I agree that some patience is required for this situation, I disagree that the rewards are trivial. I had planned on filling out the ascended gear for my wvw build with the rewards. Now I can spend resources to get these ascended pieces instead. However, I prefer not to.
So, I wait and see.
I’m still trying to find the effort where I give two kittens about drama my ex-guild leader may have stirred up. Might as well blame him for the first IOJ exodus too.
No. However, how old is he? Was he in Dallas in November 22 in 1963?
Server: FA
League: Silver
Season 1: No
Season 2: No
While there were a few good points about this season, mostly facing the higher quality havoc groups on the smaller servers particularly Emery Bay( Baltimore Style and others) and NSP, too often the fights ended with our server zerging down these groups and our group hitting empty camps undefended towers assuming they haven’t been taken already.
The quality of the fights were much higher. The quantity was at an unacceptable level due to our ridiculous population advantage. Until the population issue is fixed, the leagues should not happen at all.
If you were referring to [HAMR] (as we did do this a few times last night) it would be because, we all run hammers. Can’t do much against ACs with hammers. We’re a guild made of several FA guilds meant to be fun, buold the community and hammer smash everything in our way. So come down from the towers and get plowed by our giant hammers plz thx.
You and yours did send my scrawny downed Asura rump flying over NE cliffs north of Cliffside on TCBL last night once. You know, after the rest of your 25+man group stampeded little old me.
That was probably me.
Sorry.
We were part of the tail at that point and the guy spiking you was taking too long if I remember correctly. Or I was having one of my fits of obnoxiousness. Can’t say for certain since that night was a bit of a surreal blur.
