I was being sarcastic, but now that you explain it only happens on the blue side I can sort of see it would be an issue. As someone who is always in green, I don’t think we have any equivalent and we see the grub as a place we can always find you standing around unaware.

The overall score doesn’t really matter much to me. What is important is how a map looks before I enter it with my Guild, and how we leave it when I log off. Whether it be regaining territory we have lost, winning new targets against tough odds, or just trying to maintain some sort of balance, it is a great rush to be a small part of the strategic discussion, and watch and listen to some pretty amazing players (commanders) in [PINK]. I believe we enter every map with the mindset that the score is zero to zero and we have about 3 hours to try to win.

I know there are guilds on Yaks and FA that feel the same way too, because every night we run up against them. Knowing where ULTD is and guessing where they are going to be portaling from is 40pct of my night haha. Anyways, seeya in the borderlands.

All 3 garrisons are green now. As an idea, and I havent thought this through completely…But what if the winning points holder of every matchup was locked to transfers for the entire next week? This might ward off band wagoning. Any semblance of equality in t3 is pretty much gone now.

At this point TC really needs to move up a tier, not because we are neccessarily going to do well there, but because its just not fair to YB and FA anymore.

I’ve been seriusly doing WvW for about 3 weeks now and I offiically have 3 pieces. I think thats a fair rate for me at least. Of course I’m not walking around in greens because there are like 50 other places to get exotics in the game…ie my original set was via karma from God Temples.
Even when I get the full set, my stats will change very little, but I enjoy how it looks and plan to collect the set as a personal goal. Is it too much to ask these days for people to just enjoy the process of obtaining something rather than the end result? Maybe I’m just too old.

Oh here’s an idea. If you are currently on TC and think you are not being challenged in your current matchup, transfer to FA or Yaks. Part of the reason TC’s numbers have swollen so much from matchup 1 to 3 now is beause fair weather Yaks and FA’s are jumping ship and many of them are landing on TC. Eventually we will probably have sucked up enough of the people from our own tier and the ones below it to move up a tier in points, but how we do once we are there is anyone’s guess.

This system is based on putting people in control of their own destiny. Every week you have the opportunity to pursue whatever WvW experience you are looking for by transfering servers for no charge, and you don’t even have to leave your guild or stop talking to the people on your friend’s list to do it.

Servers are going to rise, and fall alot over the next couple months, and if TC does move up to tier 2 we might find ourselves in the same position that FA and Yaks are now. But like has been pointed out here so many times before, if all you care about is winning the big point score, then just transfer.

Furthermore, if you think that possibly the third place tier 2 team would be a more exciting matchup, don’t expect it. Chances are they will dominate because of their ability to field larger amounts of people in offtime hours.

What if in conjunction to all the current WvWvW battles we have going on, there is another Free-for-all WvWvW where people are randomly placed on 3 different sides r/b/g to fight it out. This new fight could act as an overflow for the crowded servers, and perhaps an outlet to find more competition for people on the bottom tier servers.

Because placement would be random, Guilds wouldn’t dominate this battle and I see it being a little more back and forth with spontaneous teamwork determining the victor. Ultimately, this wouldn’t be a place where the points mattered but I’m sure it could be woven into the current sytem to alleviate much of the issues that exist.

The zerg is nothing more than the amount of people that hook on to any given commander. More commanders..more zergs, but I will say that everytime a zerg starts to get big the Guilds start breaking off and thats really where our militia shines. You throw those guys at a target and they will siege and supply quicker than any other group of 15 guild tags.

Common sense though, if you set up siege at a camp.. you are basically saying please zerg, come destroy me. They love that stuff!

I didn’t think of my post as smack talk but perhaps it came out that way. You are right I don’t see FA chat, I just see the results on the field. Last week, FA was a solid server capable of fielding full forces during prime time and the score reinforced that. Like it or not, the perception you were getting 2v1 permeated the entire matchup, and I think it hid alit of your server’s issues that were obvious to those fighting against you.

This week the talk is all doom and gloom and the games to blame. Yes, it’s not your entire server, and yes even TC has fair weather players that will probably leave if we get handed our butts in a new tier.

But that wasn’t even my point. My point is that yaks had far less to work with in the beginning and I believe they are proving that attitude alone can carry a server high even if you aren’t winning the matchup.

So if you want to keep talk like this out of the conversation, it’s fine, and ill not remark on it again. But how bout we keep the constant complaining about wvw too that is becoming so common. FA sinking tiers really doesn’t affect the game as a whole..

It’s interesting to me that when yaks bend came in third place last week they didn’t make excuses and they worked with what they had to at least hold what they could, protect their homelands, and be as disruptive a force as they could be.

Far from dying because of it, I think we can all agree they are even stronger now, and they haven’t even had to adjust their working strat that much.

FA is the classic fair weather server and while I don’t blame the rank and file soldier out there trying everyday, I think the bulk of the responsibility falls on the FA guilds themselves that are either making poor decisions or not communicating them. Perhaps another trip down tier will give you a chance to veer away from the attack, attack all day long and spend more time protecting.

At this point, it might be too late. It will certainly be interesting to see next week if the map is nothing but TC and an even stronger yaks.

Why is WvW such a grindfest?

Obviously badge hunting differs from server to server due to variables as participation, population, and competition, but there are some tricks that help you get more gold/badges from WvW regardless of where you are. I average about 50-60 a night (not counting jumping puzzles,) but i get them doing almost anything in wvw, whether it be zerging, zerg v. zerg, small group guerilla style, or defending a keep. Here are some tricks I’ve learned.

1) Priortize badges and loot bags. Don’t get so caught up in the pvp in front of you that you ignore the bags around you. Rewards are a very important part of WvW and if you’re skipping them you’re just hurting your team by being unhappy and poor. Try to make tiny moves towards bags to loot as you kill. Its not that hard considering they drop right at your feet. If it means going back or diving into the enemy that so be it, but it really isn’t hard once you get the hang of it.

2) Group with other like minded players. The nature of the looting/exp system in GW2 is that everytime you tag a mob, you and your group are competing with other solo players and their groups for a percentage of the damage in order to be awarded loot. You might tag every single person in front of you, but if you don’t cover that threshold, you don’t get loot. On the other hand, if you are in a group, the entire groups dmg is added to your tally just by tagging a mob and you will instantly see a larger amount of loot both in pve and pvp.

3) Assuming you are in fact grouping, and your encountering a large force, don’t waste your time trying to kill 1 guy, and instead, concentrate on just hurting as many as you can. Obviously this doesn’t apply to 1v1 or 1v2 but in zerg v zerg, if everyone on your team is wounding everyone, than people are going to die. If you run past 30 possible loot bags to chase down that 1 ranger that hit you, you are only missing out.

4) Jumping puzzles. Easy loot/ badges. Don’t even bother solo though, its a waste of time. Keep an eye out for groups, or arrange a group yourself.

Reality. MMO’s are grinds if you don’t enjoy what your doing. If you don’t truly enjoy WvW then it really doesn’t matter what the rewards are, it will always feel like work. There are a million other ways in GW2 to get the exact same gear that WvW offers.

I’m the Norn female ranger (TC) with a star on her chest that charges up front recklessly to AoE then runs away leaving the big dumb red lizard, or green spider to gnaw on you. I don’t care if people know who I am, but I get why they did it the way they did. Hurt feelings and stalking for instance.
I think anonimity actually makes for fiercer combat though, because you forget they are real people from another server and just treat them like the pixels they are. And that’s why I won’t rest until all you scum are dead…DEAD!

Blocking camp capture while stealth

One player holding a camp for hours on end solo really was not the designers intention and I think we can all agree that in some shape or form, this will be fixed. It would be nice if thieves and guilds with thieves would uphold the spirit of friendly competition and not do it until then, but perhaps that is too much to ask.

One thing that is for certain is it requires zero skill and is purely an exploitation of game mechanics combined with the current issues with rendering. If I happened to hear of or see a thief from my guild or even server, I’d make a point to see it stopped.

In the end though, it won’t stop until its fixed and worse, it will force every guild to do it just to keep up. So expect this to get alot worse before it gets better, as more thieves begin rationalizing it “everyone does it, l2p.”
