We all get that ken enjoys the new system and has appointed himself its primary defense attorney, but I think most people will agree we are tired of your terse, uninformed opinions expressed as if they are fact.

TC, a server that fought hard for months to build a great community on the foundation of good sportsmanship and fair competition, has plenty room to complain. This statement alone shows you have zero clue why the new system is failing. Educate yourself before attempting to educate others.

Tier 2 had great matchups for about 15 weeks until this new system and has not seen a good one since. Tier 1 has seen good matchups only because they are in fact the same matchups as before the change. This system does not work, but the good news is, almost anyone who really cares has already left. I might yet come back if the pull their wvw heads out of their kittens, but I’ve pretty much lost interest at this point. Good luck to those sticking it out.

They complained less because there were less of them playing …Think about that. If you want an argument about stagnation, we can have it. This system solves stagnation like a blender solves brain tumors.

Personally, I say well done to Devon to ‘fessing up to his uncertainty in the current rankings and being prepare to test them. The stick he is getting from some is IMO very unfair. Many here and on Reddit felt people were locked in tiers and it was unclear if the ranking differences were genuine; on the other hand I think we are learning things weren’t as broken as maybe we thought. Variety is good, but playing teams too far from your league is not fun for anyone. I vote for tightening the RNG soonish so opponents are within around 250pts of you, at least in EU.

Of course that means there would be no suitable opponents for Vabbi and FoW. Unfortunately, this just seems to be true!

I get tired of reading responses like this. No one who had any sort of clue thought this was a good solution any more than the win up, lose down system. They are both solutions to a made up problem: stagnation.

Should I recommend to my son’s teachers that each year I want him to be able to randomly go up or down a couple grades so he doesn’t stagnate on classrooms full of people his own age? Ofcourse not, but idiot parents probably cry for dumb crap like that all the time because they are idiots.

We count on people in charge to filter out the idiots, even when they are vocal, because not doing so makes them idiots too. “Stagnation”. Is another word for saying “balanced,” and in a game where the only contributing factors for success are population and covarage, servers must be balanced by those factors.

The real problem here is not that they are so stupid that they don’t realize it, because at this point 4 year olds should understand it…the problem is that the reason they don’t care is because balance and fairness in wvw is not important. They aren’t reinventin NASCAR here, they are selling gems. Period. And believe it or not I can respect that if its honest,

You pay for the wvw experience you want in guildwars 2 , and if your somehow adverse to the concept of 40 to 80 gold per transfer, be preapared to have a crappy wvw experience every other week.

Why do people keep saying that the system will get more balanced as it plays out?? There will still be a random number added to a rating tomorrow, next week and a month after that till they remove it. It doesn’t matter how the ratings adjust or get closer to each other, the previous months of tiers have created and enforced clear WvW population distinctions between the tiers we are supposed to somehow forget.

SoR will beat every single server in game and destroy every single server other than BG and JQ. What does this mean? Anytime SoR doesn’t end up with BG and JQ, it will be a mismatch. What else does this mean. Anytime SoR doesn’t end up with BG and JQ, a new contender will take their place against BG and JQ and be dominated resulting in a mismatch. Tactics have as much effect on the score as GvG’s do.

This is no indictment of SoR mind you. BG and JQ are strong in their own right and will force mismatches as well, and if you think the difference between Tier 3 and tier 2 is any different, you’re wrong.

There was a time when this system would have worked, perhaps that’s even when it was written. But now, with huge distinctions in populations, we have to have tiering. Ironically, the best possible way for this randomness to play out would be for the numbers to COMPLETELY RANDOMLY have all the servers fall in their tiers from 3 weeks ago. How is this better exactly?

Those of us who truly enjoyed WvW did so because despite the casual atmosphere of GuildWars 2 as a whole, WvW offered a competitive outlet that made our guilds more than just chat rooms. We logged in to boost our characters, our guilds, and even our servers. There is no competition when the entire match is over before it begins. This is the same reason there are weight divisions in boxing.

If Anet will stop treating WvW like just another themepark attraction for the pve crowd, and just work on keeping it a healthy competition, I think we will all be more happy.

I don’t think anyone on TC who matters minds TW transferring off for the matchup. The week is early though, and TC still has plenty more to give. We won’t win the final score, but we will be winning plenty more battles. Tonight should be fun.

Here’s some reset from [PiNK] on SoSBL. I think the night started good, for us at least, but SoR’s domination of SoS left them incapable of fighting back and we settled for a 1v1 the rest of the night in camps like this. That being said, we won some, we lost some, and in this particular instance, we we’re the ones chasing rather than the other way around. Props to [HL] [TW/L] and [FANG].

Typical anet response. Change something drastically with zero testing based purely on the perceived inadaquacies of the original system. The old system is borked, the new system is worse, then we all settle for the third system in 4 weeks that’s pretty crappy too.

Guess what, I don’t know what the answer is, but I do know the guy in charge has zero kittening clue and is tossing darts into a dartboard. Ironically, the best answer is for us all to just quit because at least tht will 100 pct fix wvw as it stands now.

You can’t help but see the similiarties to the last time SoR and TC faced eachother so many weeks before. SoR the new champ of T2, fat with the transfers from SBI vs TC, and the shell of SBI. While I feel bad for SoS, I truly hope you guys put up as much fight as you did last week and don’t simply fade despite how fair it clear isn’t. Otherwise it will be bad for both of us.

It’s just one dude, what say we all just let it go. As for the gw2lfg…seems pretty petty and it occurs to me that if you guys ignored it, rather than bringing it here, they would probably stop doing it. The fun part, for the person who did it, is hearing you guys get angry, I believe.

When either side shows the outmanned buff it is generally called out in zone chat and we immediately drop what we are doing to take your stuff. That’s just how T2 works… possibly T1 too. If you can’t be bothered to protect something, you don’t get to keep it! And why take the foot off the pedal? We have to keep the momentum up for tonight. That’s just how TC works.
That being said, I was really impressed with the effort put forth by SoS and I hope we can do the same if tasked against a T1 server next week. You guys gave me hope that we can. Cya tonight FA lol.

SoR is number one, and deservedly so. They have the best coverage, and the best NA in the game. Their core is a solid grouping of guilds that are all strong in their own right, and they have the addition of some of SBI’s strongest guilds, then later TSYM and now IRON who can finally give those great NA guilds way-pointed keeps to fight around, rather than having to break the oppositions. They have a lot of to proud of, and I imagine they will keep the number 1 title for a long while.

That being said, they can be beaten…by themselves. Pretty much like every number 1 before them. That’s what keeps the system rolling. Until then, enjoy the ride!

I miss our relatively balanced matchup of T2, but I am enjoying the roaming for now.

I’m not sure anyone cares about the rating. We are a pretty mellow bunch. I think with time the old thought process on ratings will change anyways because tiers aren’t based on them. If we get matched up with SoR and BG next week, we will gain rating despite a probable score thrashing. After a couple weeks all the scores will start to drift to the center and we will probably see weekly rank changes that amount to very little overall.

I don’t blame you for hating T3 though. Our trip there a couple weeks ago was mind numbing. That’s the real problem for me with the system. I wasn’t concerned about the stagnant matchups because they always produced good fights. And who says they were stagnant anyways? TC moved up and down the Tier 2 ladder with different opponents constantly and covered every possible color on the spectrum in the last 3 months. I for one would’ve liked to see TC peak into Tier 1 on our own merits at some point, but had we remained in the old Tier 2 I could’ve been happy too.

Revenge for what? And I’m not sure the Dolyak Parade even still happens. I could be wrong though! Oh wait! SoS is doing the Dolyak Parades now!

I think wherever SoS matches up next week, they can do so with some swagger. They proved in this match up that they are officially not the server moving down, but a new server moving up. I hope we see you guys again.

You’d never tell from the forums but I’ve found that FA and TC to a slightly lesser degree, have conducted themselves well on the field, with bowing after good fights and such.

That being said, I wish you two would mix it up a little. I know we look like PPT hanging low on the vine, but I thought it was a little cheap that FA BL was pure green while Blue was upgrading keeps on our map.

Of course we would have never flipped TC’s garrison yesterday if you were so I guess you can carry on with your Plan A.

This matchup holds so much promise, not for us, but for those in the other tiers.

I find it funny that the new system proponents boast that at best, nothing will change and at worst, we will get one bad matchup every 2 weeks. How is this better exactly?

I think the truth is that this is simply a matter of appeasement for people in lower tiers who really don’t understand the system and assume a 100k lead in tier 6 means they are ready to take on SoR.

Noone is saying the current system isn’t flawed, but replacing it with another flawed system is a waste of energy and time.

I find it amusing that so much of the support of this is coming from the lower tier servers. Oh well, you wanted it, you got it.

Under the new system, the top 3 servers really make out the best. Each of you have a 66 pct chance of dominating the new tier your in, and a 3 pct chance of ever all fighting each other in the same tier again.

Sorry to hear BT is leaving FA. They were the heart and soul of Fort Aspenweod for a very long time and I’m sure any server they end up on will instantly see it reflected in the score. See you guys around.

FABL was like that in Tier 2 for 2 weeks but now it seems fine. I suggest that perhaps they are cycling some crappy hardware through the tiers so no one group of people is affected. It never got better though, till it was fixed completely. Good Luck.

I think the fix is okay, though not perfect. The truth is that if you hadn’t made us endure the worst possible scenario for 3 weeks, we would be hating this “fix” just as much compared to how it was before any patches at all. If ANET gains nothing else from this and every other change they make its that you absolutely need to test these things before you put them in. If you want to invite guilds to help you test them, I’m sure mine and several others will gladly give up our time and help you.

Even the smallest changes are amplified by very intelligent players who can find the best way to abuse an error on your part, and being caught off guard and forced to change something 3 weeks later is not a good business plan.

That’s it. Thanks to some minute changes, I can shrug off any number of arrow carts- even if they are grouped and assisting -long enough to heal through the damage. The absolute highest amount of damage I have ever taken from an AC post-patch is 1370 or thereabout.

So now we’re required to re-spec to counter ACs? If you can’t see the issue with that well I don’t know what to say.

Its not too late to just revert the last wvw patch. Give a full refund of all wxp mastery points and remove the ac mastery until you have a better handle of how it will effect wvw in its current state. By your own thinking, you want the entire siege system to change, so lets just wait for that? No matter how you feel about wvw, it changed the pace of the game. It turned exciting maps into 3 hr long commitments to take keeps. Noone is arguing its impossible, what we are arguing is its not fun. This thread is proof that many others feel the same way.
