There are anet devs on most servers, and as far as our resident dev goes, they are pretty quiet and just jump in and engage in the action like anyone else. I’m pretty sure if it was up to them, they wouldnt have the tag, but they probably have to have full disclosure as per Anet’s policies. I find it refreshing that people who work for the company actually play the game.

If you want Anet to change the system to better protect low wvw population servers, then by all means ask for it. But asking for a new opponent from Tier 7 really just shows you have no idea what you are asking for.

The only option I can see is to just disband the lowest tier and spread the numbers evenly across all the other servers like they did in beta when they had probs with NSP server.

Of course give those lower three servers free tranfers for a month so they can move out together as guilds. Anyone left would just be inactive and get a random server.

That would help with the dwindling population on higher tier servers and also get rid of the lopsided system.

There will always be a lowest tier though, and any problems that exist in tier 8 would simply float up to tier 7. The matchups are inherently unfair because humans are selfish. The simplest solution is quite simply the one that noone ever wants to hear: If you really enjoy spending your time playing wvw in Guildwars, switch servers. Only you are responsible for your own good time.

Keeping Bay during reset against an entire queue of spawn is pretty impressive, no lie! Too bad you didn’t have an HB for both sides of the map though! Good fights all around though on BGBL.

BG and KN crash into each other all the time. However, over parts of the night and early day, both servers tend to be more opportunistic and take the path of least resistance.

So rather than fighting each other,KN and BG would rather not fight each other most of the night and day(every once in a while crashing into each other) so they can get the easy points double teaming the less populated server. Now i know why you guys cant get out of T2,but i cant figure out how TC is staying in T2 being the least populated server of the three,and being double teamed most of the time.

Don’t start. They fight constantly and we fight them as well on every map. Expecting them to not take advantage of easy points during our downtime is foolish, and getting hurt feelings about it only hurts you. They have a pretty close matchup going on, and I can tell Kaineng is hungry for BG’s ranking. Despite that, TC can run an extremely competitive Primetime with the luxury of not having to worry about the overall score since our Oceanic presence lacks us that luxury.

The most important thing, though, is that in a week or 2 we are going to be in their spot, hammering two other much less populated servers and you are going to be reading posts like yours constantly from them. Try to be the competitor you want to face.

The trick is to let them destroy the wall, then defend the hole. Makes for more loot too.

Yes. Maybe not 100%, but they count some.

Yes. You can test it yourself simply by looking at the loot differential by running in a party of people who are with you. I am always inviting people into parties as i run around a bl and can’t tell you how many times people have randomly said WOW so much loot tonight. Just make sure to group with other active people near you tagging the same mobs, then try to aoe frequently.

I don’t understand where the idea that kitten talking is somehow part of the competition. People who win all the time, or at least frequently, don’t have to talk kitten because they have been there before and its nothing new. They don’t need the admiration of their victims or their enemies and they certainly don’t want to hear you cry about it after.

Its fun for all of us. I don’t think I’m stretching too much by saying that if we had a couple oceanic or EU guilds, we would be right in the thick of this matchup. Who wants to come to T2?

Culling is apart of this game. It happens whenever 2 enemy groups hit each other, and whether or not you were aware of it, chances are you won a battle in a group because of culling. Some people don’t like this, its understandable, but if given the choice 9/10 people choose to use culling to their advantage as opposed to disadvantage. Kaineng wins for many reasons, as do we. Don’t call out the entire server because you died in wvw.

ALL sides use culling. Including us.

Do you always run in a group? In the case of groups you have the benefit of the entire group’s damage working towards your claim of the kill. This also means that as a soloist, you aren’t competing against other soloists, you are competing with other full grps for a share. It is sketchy but its something thats been known in PvE (farming) for a long time.

You guys are funny. You think you are skilled even though you have no idea there is a zerg around the corner getting ready to flank, cull and kill you. Part of the skill of wvw is knowing where the other guy is before he knows where you are.

Those of you from Euro complaining there are no mentions of euro guilds..well, mention them then. Most of us are on the NA servers and its the reason we are mentioning NA guilds. Noone is going to end this discussion with this is the best guild, but GvG is becoming a growing segment of WvW, especially in open field, and its only natural its becoming pretty competitive. Perhaps Anet will notice this as well and find a way to encourage it, rather than stifle.

I for one would love a WvW tournament mode where they pick 3 guilds and stick them on a borderland. You play first to 300 points (1map) then switch till you have covered all 3 borderlands. Winner moves on.

If you don’t get loot for a kill, chances are you didn’t really even get credit for the kill. Getting a high enough percent of the damage done on someone before they’re dead isn’t always easy. This is why it appears your sigil isnt stacking, and also why some people get so few badges and loot.

Quoting this late as I haven’t spent any time in this thread this matchup due to, well, WvWing.

Just letting you know, that this was a 5 man cap on your hills courtesy of a little NOC group – facilitated by an extremely patient and competent mesmer who sat in there for close to an hour after the line of battle had moved well away from there.

We still had to ram the north inner gate, and Thai came in at just the right moment to mop up and consolidate the cap. Nothing suspicious about it, despite what you may think.

This matchup has been really clean from what I’ve seen and honestly, when someone gets into somewhere and I don’t know how, my first reaction is always “should’ve swept better.” Best way to counter any activity is quite simply to have people sit in the keep, its what we do.

Seems every time we go for Hills or Bay, it always turns into an epic 3-way fight. Especially when LoTD is involved. I guess they’ve had a lot of practice…

it would make ‘a’ point to have one Albionian (HB) one midgardian (RG) and one Hibernian guild from the Excallibur server in DAoC amongst the top 5 ‘nominated’ guilds of all GW2 servers.

Skill at video games tends to transfer from platform to platform. Daoc, wow arenas, rift bgs, EQ pvp servers…Most of us have been doing this for a very long time.

This thread has really devolved into name dropping and petty bickering. I’d like someone to actually address a guild that is the total package and not just “awesome at open field”. I’ve said it before; RG is a fun fight in the open field, but they don’t really take points.

Motion to rename the thread: “Best Projected Guilds at GvG”

Come to our match up, RG do take points. I’m not part of RG but i think they went to NA just for fights not to take towers and keeps.

While they can be part of assaults, it’s not because they want to get whatever it is thats being assaulted, but because “oh, hey, enemies!”, and i imagine it’s the same with defense.

one could argue that RG excells in open field battles, leaving a huge amount of their server’s manforce able to siege and take structures, facilitating those captures and takes by the rest of their server. having 50 people on Bay or Hills while Red Guard roams in the triangle between Bay/Hills, Garisson and the supply camp north of Bay/Hills, and obliterating every possible reinforcements to Bay/Hills is WIN.

Sure, but when you have to do all that stuff yourself and win open field battles, it takes alot of coordination. IMO, when your guild is on a map, you own it. You have to take it all and try to win it regardless of the variables. If we are going to judge a guild only by open field, then its really a different measuring stick than being the best “wvw” guild.

It was just great matching up with you finally. You gave us a gut check early on in Hills and I’m just glad we we’re able to keep up with you guys. Oh, and WM didn’t leave ;P

I normally don’t respond to these threads, but having played a fair share of guilds, not all, but a “fair share,” I think I can say with 100 percent certainty that HB is the best guild in game. Their knowledge and ability in open field, defense/offense are really just impressive to behold and I would think alot of guilds would want to emulate that. Plus, they have alot of class.

Well I’m happy to inform you that HB is the guild that copied Red Guard’s playstyle open field.

Open field dominance is only 1 part of what would make a guild “the best.” I also measure a guilds ability to place siege, counter siege, scouting, opportunity awareness, judging enemy strengths and weaknesses, and ability to change strategy on the fly when the map changes, even if it means pulling out when allready committed to a high point target. HB is the closest to that total package •that I have seen•.

[PiNK] assembling… fine tuning our strategies, checking our gear…nothing is left to fate. Things are so super serial right now you guys.

The thing about being a solo roamer is, you really have to be very good. Its not really enough to roll the flavor of the month and expect to go kick butt the first night. Keep going out there getting beat and challenging yourself to win with greater odds and I think you will start surviving more and more. I play a ranger, so I’m sort of doubly hurt but I survive and win far more wondering around solo now than I used to.
