You come up with something positive and everybody ignores you. I suppose this is one reason so many people have given up.
They could at least make it so you can shoot the fish!
I think you can guess what this is about from the title.
My question is;
“How feasible would it be to allow players to put a tall pre-designed turret at a pre-determined (by the devs, but please please don’t do it badly -perhaps consult a trusted player) spot in towers/keeps that could be a crafted guild passive tactic, perhaps recycling the “guild decoration” technology for cheapness? "
I have previously suggested a towering tower which would increase the height of tower walls as the objective upgrades in order to give a varying degree of usefulness to the objectives depending on how well you can to hold on to them while dollies come in.
Seeing as Anet gave me no feedback on my concept, I have this Turret idea as an alternative.

It’s funny because it’s true.
Take that, “balance team”!
Maybe John is banking on the hoarders running out of storage space?
Is it their goal to leave this game only playable for pve fans?
No, but nearly all WvW content is about changing old systems, and that’s “more expensive” than implementing new systems, which they can do in PvE easily.
Even if mystic coins would be 10g each it would be a fair price since they are only needed to get prestige items
Today I learned of a new prestigious item that I didn’t even know I had. Yeah, I can totally see how Mystic Coins are fine /s
Indeed. As a fan of trays and pots, I’m saddened that I can’t make Trays of Roasted Artichokes without paying over the odds.
Clearly opinions vary! In the game, I got resounding approval for Cecil, particularly since it eliminated the confusion with another beastie. I’m personally not a fan of using the name of someone I know, like Colin, or Steve. However your mileage may vary, and that’s ok.
The fact of the matter is, if I see someone 2 feet taller than me approaching with a roaring chainsaw, I’m likely to call him “Sir.” Or her “Ma’am.”
I think Jon or Peter. Taking a chainsaw to GW2 and then disappearing deep into the Amazon.

As you can see, the last few months the demand has been well over 400% of the supply.
Supply and demand are all very well, but existence and annihilation are also a factor in this instance. I believe that John Smith is concerned that Mystic Coins (among other items) are being hoarded as a form of wealth protection (against mudflation) rather than spent (annihilated).
Thief OP thanks to Karl McLain, thief player, and his balance team.
Twas ever thus. Move along.

Three largest problems still are:
- Population imbalance
- Coverage imbalance
- Fair-Weather Effect/Fighting losing battles not fun
Everything else is lipstick.
I agree. These things are the major issues.
I think the problems associated with The Fair Weather effect need to be explained in greater detail, though:
- The Scoring needs to be addressed because you can see that in most cases the winner is decided several days before reset (number_of_hours = difference in score between top and second place multiplied by two),
- Many players don’t join in because there is no hope left; either of defeating a particular enemy zerg or of competing effectively in the PPT game,
I suggest that the proposed system of doubling the points available each day be implemented (i.e. Saturday points worth 2x Friday, Sunday points worth 2x Saturday etc), but also a handicapping system (free siege, weaker walls, etc -many have been suggested over the life of GW2) to stop the best side from butchering their opponents and allowing small groups to really punch into the big boys (and girls)!
EDIT:
I would include the problem of wholesale transfers in the “Population imbalance” topic.

This is the one lesson ANET might take away from “eSports” involving arcade games. In such games, there is not usually a glaringly weak or OP class or character. When there is, the game doesn’t do well.
I hope they take note of how little stealth there is in Streetfighter
1sec still feels like they ll be able to be quite some time in stealth.
That’s why the thieves in this thread advocate this solution.
I love this profession but I am the first to admit that it has very little to offer in a team. Now that I am bored of Halloween events, I took the time to modify the necromancer in my dreams. These are on top of how things are currently. Here’s what it would look like on paper. Is it perfect? Hell no, but it sure is an improvement on what we have.
Axe:
1. Auto-attack becomes an auto chain which inflicts vulnerability on the first two strikes and cripple on the third strike.
2. Skill 2 gets an extra +25% damage.
3. The retaliation boon has a base of 4 seconds and an extra 4 seconds per enemy hit.Dagger:
1. +15% damage on auto chain.
2. Increased damage of skill 2 by 20% and life gain by 40%.
3. Skill 3 also teleports you to target.
4. Skill 4 can transfer up to 5 conditions.Scepter:
1. Improved speed on auto chain by 5%.
2. Skill 3’s base torment duration increased by 2 seconds.Staff:
Reduced recharge of skills 3, 4 and 5 (10, 15 and 20 seconds).Greatsword:
1. Improved speed of auto chain by 5%.
2. After-cast of Gravedigger reduced by 0.1 seconds.
3. Increased the damage of skill 4 by 25%.
4. Skill 5: reduced recharge to 10 seconds, range increased to 1200; behaves like a projectile in that it reaches target regardless of uneven terrain (though uneven terrain will still prevent target from reaching you).Focus:
1. Skill 4: regeneration increased by 3 seconds and recharge reduced to 10 seconds.
2. Skill 5 can remove up to 5 boons and recharge decreased to 15 seconds.Heals:
Consume Conditions – recharge reduced to 15 seconds.
Signet of Vampirism – increased life gain from life siphon.
Summon Blood Fiend – heals caster when killed.
Well of Blood -recharge reduced to 25 seconds.
“You Soul is Mine” – increased base healing by 15%.Utilities:
Corrupt Boon – convert up to 5 boons into conditions.
Summon Bone Fiend – Rigor is applied to the next three attacks.
Summon Fles Wurm – Necrotic Traversal’s range increased to 5000.
Summon Shadow Fiend – Haunt causes AoE blindness.
Signet of the Locust – improved health gain by 40%.
Spectral Armor – protection increased by 5 seconds.
Spectral Walk: Spectral Recall lasts for 30 seconds (essentially as long as the speed boon); for 5 seconds all incoming damage is converted into Life Force.
“Rise” – minions do not expire but only a maximum of 12 can be controlled. Protection restored to 50%. Using “Rise” again with maxed minions simply reapplies the protection.Elite:
Life Form – increased base duration to 30 seconds and skill 3 steals life; jagged horror restored to previous form where they suffer slow health loss instead of being timed. Form also adds 1000 power. Recharge reduced to 120 seconds.
Plauge – Reduced recharge to 120 and projectiles automatically miss.Reaper’s Shroud Utility Skills:
Heal Skill – “Your Life is Mine” gain 20% of your max life force and 5% health for each foe struck (range 600).
Flames of Torment – Well (6s) Damage foes (1, 565) and apply torment (5 seconds) per pulse (range 900).
Cry of the Banshee – Daze (2 seconds) and chill target (5seconds) (range 450).
Ghost Body – Become invulnerable for 3 seconds.Traits:
Spite:
Spiteful Renewal – increased threshold to 50%.Curses:
Linger Curse – conditions applies by scepter last 100% longer instead of 50%.Death Magic:
Flesh of the Master – increased toughness to 25 per minion.
Necromantic Master – minions also attack 10% faster.
Corrupter’s Fervor – -5% incoming condition damage per stack.
Death Nova – Explosion causes damage similar to bone minions. Can summon three bone minions instead of 2.Blood Magic:
Vampiric Presence – life siphon increased by 40%.
Vampiric Rituals – applies to marks as well.Soul Reaping:
Last Grasp – reduced recharge to 30 seconds.Reaper:
Soul Eater – increased health steal by 25%.
Cold Shoulder/Cold of Death (renamed) – chill damage added here to current trait.
Reaper’s Victory (new) – killing an enemy restores 20% of your health. If in reaper’s shroud it restores 10% life force.
Some good ideas, but I feel you are dreaming too small. Here, let me offer some inspiration: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_thief_skills
Nobody cares about being able to cancel building things. This is an example of why I’m so dismayed about what the development team focuses on.
I just switched to condi yesterday. It’s noticably better than power, but FSP zergs are still too powerful.
I am not a new player. But I am happy to admit that I am more than a complete newb when it comes to winning fights.
I would like to rectify this somewhat, but I have a problem in that I can’t target my enemy. Thieves are a nightmare since once I have targeted them (no mean feat in and of itself), they then dispose of my target and I am again floundering around dropping marks and hoping to spot one if they hit it. At some point my health drops by half and then he teleports about 2 miles away before I can react. Repeat once more and that “fight” life is over. That’s pretty much every thief fight.
Similarly, with mesmer, if I see one, I try to run away – but with no swiftness or teleport and only one leap that isn’t always available (Reaper Shroud #2), I really struggle with movement.
The fight with a mesmer is always the same: Try to pop clones before they get close. Have a vague idea which one the mesmer is (the one at the back) and then discover he is a clone too when he pops. Then die.
I am certain I am not alone. This happens to loads of other players, I see it every day.
Why does Arenanet insist that these classes are ok? What do you do to beat them? Is it really a matter of learning every single class and spec in the game even if I don’t want to play them?
They seem to be in maintenance mode now, not changing much for fear of breaking the game, and hoping the playerbase doesn’t quit before the xpac.
6. Still no ingame voice chat system. Honestly there is no excuse for this, there is an MMORPG released in 2009 that has it.
Eve online was released in 2003.
But I don’t agree. I think in-game voice would be an extravagance. Having seen what they ARE working on, though, (legendary armour) I don’t care anymore. I give up.
(edited by Svarty.8019)
Disappointed with the balance team on this patch. I was hoping for a nice shake up of the meta
I concur. I’m extremely disappointed that nearly nothing was changed. I’ll be taking a break and trying Eve’s free-mode for a while.
I get the impression that the balance team is lost without the previous staff members.

I have played off and on since launch and now coming back I have a lot of time to play. The thing is I love pvp in mmos and this game kills me. I play a necro but looking to switch ( cause apperently i can play this class.). I jump in spvp and just get destroyed without being able to touch people at all. im using good build from metabattle and ones i know and i know my class. but icant kill anyone and i die instantly . What do i need to do to get better or understand this games pvp.
You are not alone.
GW2 PvP is terrible. It’s;
- too quick, and
- difficult to analyse what opponents are doing, and
- you have to watch the debuff bar constantly
- Add to this the fact that you need to know what EVERY class does and
- the fact that your class CAN’T counter many of the classes
… and you have the recipe for an awful, anti-fun combat system.
There’s a massive learning curve and no time to climb it before you are beaten by better, more accomplished players on more complicated, “piano-player”, classes.
Jon Peters is to blame. #boycottAmazonGames
u die instantly coz 95% of the ppl focus necros.. so how about u change class? :P
Perhaps Anet should just remove this sack of kittens class and be done with it?
(edited by Svarty.8019)
And again Arena net had screwed Dragonbrand. 5v1. What are the devs thinking.
Welcome to YB’s world.
Six versus one for months culminating in a Tier 1 to Tier 4 fall which will happen again and again and again to other servers until this garbage is fixed.
Don’t hold your breath.
This is what people don’t understand. With linking, there is no ladder. There are only “Good Matches”.
The labyrinth isn’t harder, now, only slower. the bosses aren’t threatening. And if the bosses aren’t threatening, you can give them 1hp or 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,456,000,000hp, it won’t matter. It just takes longer to kill them, not more effort/skill
Indeed. I’m sure Anet did some, “bags/minute”, calculations somewhere.
I have to say, this smacks of, “The invisible hand isn’t working. We’re going to call it’s bluff.”
But I think the largest problem here is one of perception. Our Fair Weathers stop playing the moment it looks like a match is going against them, thus drying out the numbers. While the fair weathers of the winning side obviously keeps going.
I would propose that the solution should be to again modify the scoring system. If it were possible to recover a losing game or to gain some kind of benefit when there is one dominating force, then I believe people might be more keen to stick around.
This solution would ideally apply not only to the whole one-week span of a match, but also moment-by-moment. HOW this happens is a matter for the developers to achieve, but the problem of, “oh we’re wiping over and over? I won’t bother then”, is ubiquitous.
The linking system is daft. People are transferring after the announcements so they can get onto a bandwagon “top” server and pulverise all opposition.
It’s completely non-fun.
The original devs would be turning in their graves (if they were dead).
People got salty the lord was being bannered. Made it too hard to take an objective.
WvW is EotM.
It’s natural to want to take the path of least resistance. WvW should be about beating defenders and all their clever tools. Sadly, these tools are a dwindling assortment consisting of arrow carts and more arrow carts.
I think the banner would give us more fun. THAT is why I propose bringing it back.
there are way more important things the WvW devs need to work on than this.
Such as PvE and the new expansion.
Anything but WvW!
Or cannons!
I’ve watched these forums since the game launched and I never saw anybody ask for cannons!
Did I miss this?
I just want to gauge the feeling out there. I don’t feel like I fare very well, but that’s my opinion.
Are you “Faring quite well”?
My goal is to get enough Pumpkins to keep my guild building decorations long after Halloween. That means Candy Corn. I’ll probably just buy it off the TP.
i need to be blunt though: and old player like myself finds themselves in many predicaments… im only a lvl 80 sylv mes, 400 tailor and somethin… I did a few dungeons but mostly stuck to cartography and pvp (not wvw). i guess after calming down a lil my question is just what should i be shooting for endgame?? i feel like if I discuss my plan or whatever it helps keep me on track
Old players belong in WvW. As a general rule we are inferior at PvP and we group together to make up for it.

IMO Tattered bat wings need to be more available. They aren’t in the recipes you list above, but they go into the Scarecrow decoration, Nightfury and now endless tonics.
Do a regular stomp like everyone else.
how about instead ill get 17k+ base hp like everyone else?
You can have 17k+ base hp like… er.. guardians and elementalists. Oh hang on…
… or you can have your high base hp and no stealth or everybody else can join you in spamming stuff and zero cooldowns… I’m all for an even playing field!
So like Druid and Engie with their Stealh High HP and High stealth?
Now you’re being picky!
What Na said. Producing new content for a once a year festival is a wasteful use of resources, considering they have LS3 and an expansion to work on.
I disagree. If Anet put more festivals together, it wouldn’t have to pour so much effort into getting The (IMO tedious, one-dimensional and confusing, now that lots of it is hidden away in Raids) Living Story out so often.
I remember vanilla WoW had festivals very often and they repeated them each year. It worked brilliantly and kept people interested because although the content was the same every year, it was different every few weeks.
Regarding this year’s new stuff, I’m actually impressed that there’s so much. IMO the cost of some items is extortionate, however.

They’re just gankers. People who couldn’t cut it in PvP.
Should Arenanet bring back bannering the Lord?
In light of the new, tough Lords on red borderland, would this even be fair?
Gunnar’s Hold had many wonderful times repeatedly bannering the Lord at garrison. I wonder if others remember similar times so fondly?

My thoughts on this are as follows;
- The armour is pretty, of that there is no doubt. Compliments to the artists and animators.
- It seems that a lot of development time went into it. IMO it’s a massive waste of resources.
- I have never wanted to do raids and this won’t change my mind.
Why is Anet still ignoring this?
… because all the people who built it went to Amazon Games and the new staff don’t know what’s going on or how to fix something even the old devs had no idea how to balance.
I offer thanks for new content, at least.
28 cannons and 5 people to man them all. It’s like every garrison nightcap ever.
I’ve tried making Bone Minions (not bone fiend- the immobilizing one that is useful in mm builds- the crappy slowcast “shatter” minions. The ones that you can’t control which of the two pops when commanded, and will blow up instantly where they are and not run to target like a mesmer shatter. Those) useful in any kind of sense for about an hour and a half of build shuffling and they are simply garbage compared to any other minion.
I tried using them as blast finishers. That lasted 10 minutes.
Don’t expect any existing content to get fixed tho. Anet prefer to make new stuff, it’s cheaper in development terms.
NO THANKS. This is not a thing. We don’t want dev time wasted on this nonsense.
before they give us a new map they need to fix the ones we have first, because they all have serious flaws.
True, but fixing old maps isn’t as feasible as making new ones due to development cost (time & effort).
So, from these basics assumptions, John Smith has decided to follow his former mentor Adam Smith and his invisible hand ?
Adam Smith would be rolling in his grave if he knew how people used his work to justify unfettered free markets.
Add clones to the list. I NEVER want to target a clone. EVER.
I think you’re missing the point of clones…
Well, why not? I mean, mesmer already gets the benefit of these as walking bombs, why should they also mess up my targeting at the same time?
I have always run away from mesmers because I can’t target them. I would not be surprised if they turned out to be a HUGE reason so many people don’t play PvP.
Clones exist to distract from the real Mesmer. If tab didn’t target clones, they would have no point.
Any skilled player has no issues finding and targeting the real Mesmer. I recommend you work on improving to that level.
Despite your jibe, I shall reply with dignity.
The fact remains;
- Mesmers get to mess up your targeting.
- The only other class to do this is thief.
Both are annoying to fight against and for average players make the game anti-fun.
Jon Peters has a lot to answer for: #BoycottAmazonGames

Why should WvW get its own legendary armor set? Hell why should it even give an alternate way to earn the current legendary armor set?
Yes, WvW deserves its own legendary backpack but thats it imo. Legendary armor is a raid exclusive, and at least for now it needs to remain that way.
Because … Only raiders need to switch their stats.
Add clones to the list. I NEVER want to target a clone. EVER.

I had an idea for portals and/or jumping mushrooms in Guild Halls that let players visit the far-reaches of their guild hall without the effort of actually jumping, walking and gliding to them.
The downsides:
- Development time taken away from the Living Borey
The upsides: - Player-generated fun, Minecraft™-stlye (if they are implemented in a certain way)
