1. No stability
You can trait for it in Soul Reaping = use F5 to “Enter shroud”.
2. No gap closer
Portal is a shadowstep. It’s the best movement ability in the game bar none. Scourges can’t complain about this now.
3. Barrier < Traditional Shroud
Barrier varies depending on Healing Power, so I guess it’s supposed to be weak on DPS builds.
Sand Swell needs the cast time reduced, probably to 1/4 second.
The funny thing about Sand Swell is that your allies can use it before you can
How about finishers that can be unlocked via WvW rank or reward track (like in PvP)?
Love the siege finisher idea, how about a ballista blueprint? :P
If they ever do introduce WvW finishers they most certainly should be for rank, it’s about time they give high ranks some prestige in this game…
With the confirmation that WvW Tournaments are dead (see Skirmish Tickets), Arenanet have three finishers ready-made that could be unlocked via ranks – see;
Bronze Dolyak Finisher.
Silver Dolyak Finisher.
Gold Dolyak Finisher.

An arrowcart buildsite that 4 skritt run up and build, then they do a little dance around it before it breaks
Come on Dawdler, you did better the other day …
tiny dancing Quaggans riding unicorns on rainbows come out of the bloody footprints [..] the tiny dancing Quaggans shoot tiny kittens in pink skirts that also vomit rainbows.
The Path of Fire elite specs seem to be an excuse to remake unpopular mechanics in a way people might like. I think this is a mistake. There’s a reason people hardly play mantras, turrets and kits!
Shade summoning seems somewhat … complex? It seems odd that at times you can pop 3 out and at other times, it’s cooldowns galore.
I guess it doesn’t really matter, they are so situational it’s not really that good a mechanic.
Sand Swell is amazing and should be baseline for necro. That’s the mother of all movement abilities!
Trail of Anguish is also fantastic, and is what the Warhorn #5 should have been instead of bees that aggro everything, putting you in combat and making the swiftness pointless.
It’s on the wiki now.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scourgeanyone that invested even a litle in their necro allready know these just saying…
thats why im saying why it will be massacred mostly in spvp… it has nothing to save themself againts Burst…. outside of shield that is waaaay weaker then a shroud….necros will forever stay the number 1 kill target like this…
What’s new? Working as intended. “Allowing allies to survive”. Ofc traditionally the “cloth healer” was always #1 target.

I think the OP’s idea is interesting, but that we’d be just as well, if not better served by changing all traits that do extra damage to low health players into extra damage to high health players instead. Let’s have longer fights, that will be a significant nerf to condition DAMAGE, and make players desire longer DURATIONs.
It’s on the wiki now.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scourge
The wiki page is constantly changing (with just over one month to Path of Fire launch on 22/9/2017): https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scourge
But i fear ANet is ok with how dumbed down this game is, and sadlyalot of players still think this is a a game that is hard to play, and they dont notice how ANet is carrying some of them.
That makes no sense. Either the game is hard to play or it isn’t [Hint: It is, because lots of classes are difficult to learn]. The key to this is to remember how formulaic they are in terms of story, then apply this memory to the combat part of the game. They want to use the cliche, “Easy to learn and difficult to master”.
Unfortunately the learning curve is steep. If you find Mesmer (for example) easy to learn, you win, but if you don’t learn Mesmer, people who do will obliterate you on whatever class you play.
Is this “dumbing down” of yours the notion that you feel condi spammers don’t have to learn every other class? If so, it’s probably a good thing, and lowers the barrier of access to fun in the game.
From reading the /wiki page (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scourge) on scourge, I conclude the following;
Scourge traits look really simple;
- one boony, per tier
- one condi, per tier
- one shadey/barriery per tier
The new ScourgeShroud/barrier mechanic seems to be a way of separating
- damage mitigation (barrier) from
- an ability cost mechanic (new shroud),
whereas at the moment we have both in Shroud/ReaperShroud.
Torment and Cripple seem to be our replacements for Reaper’s Bleeds and Chills.
This seems to be something of a nerf, as Chill also gives ability slowdown whereas Cripple is simply a movement impairing ability. Torment is a damage increase and when traited for burn, could provide very high output.

Hmm no review of Speed of shadows?
I would have liked to have seen this posted, too. This was huge for my build.
It’s great to be the underdog in every fight. If I win, it feels amazing (and then I thank whoever added).
The total number of pips per week did not change.
Do you mean tickets?
I thought she meant amounts of pips needed to hit ticket cap?
Ahh ok. It’s a bit of a round-about way of explaining it, but sure, that makes sense.
Raptor animations are top notch. Absolutely beautiful. Riding this felt visceral and fun.
The race was superb. This was great fun and something new that I’d love to see expanded and (I like that it was) open-world. This is exactly the sort of thing I want from mounts in PvE.
Dyeing the mount was great, too. That was fun.
Someone said that you could see the Skimmer, but when I went to the quicksand, I could only see the name moving around. Maybe it was under the surface or something.
Please could we have enemy mortar fire rings with a red ring, to make them consistent with other enemy effect rings?
I have said many times before that if they don’t make Deadeye OP, they may as well not bother.
They should put a picture of the trollface guy with a rifle looking at the camera and pointing and saying the word, “Problem?” instead of the traitline.
Who would play the Deadeye when the Daredevil is already stupidly OP?!
Thanks for copying the new UTF-8 characters into the set, they will make the game more interesting and fun.
Some need to be changed.
The below line has characters which are very wrong in the in-game character set (i.e. very wide), and need to be removed, since they aren’t even copied into the character set very well (they clip off on the left).
u20C0: ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
My concern is that they can be spammed to make chatboxes unfun.
Tips on reward track? I honestly really dislike WvW but how do get it done fast possible? I tired going in there and taking camps and I keep getting destroyed by huge groups on 4 man roaming group comes in and stacks 84 bleeding and destories me =(
Collect bottles of “Potion of WvW Rewards”. With 80, you can complete the full reward track. You’re welcome.
In small scale/roaming wvw this is a killer change.
^^ I’m feeling it constantly. It’s horrible.
Shroud is a shadow of it’s former self.
:( #BoycottPoF(for a few minutes, then remember how good mounts are).
currently you have to go to a heart vendor to do this each time you want to identify items.
That’ll be fun in WvW …
The sad thing is that there are a number of ANet people that play in WvW.
Can we see Armoured Dolyaks replaced/reworked please? They are very lacklustre compared with their contemporaries.
Gliding is implemented exceptionally well, and is mostly of benefit to defenders. This change is a huge improvement: there are now more and better ways to get big fights faster.
Well done, Arenanet. Kindly ignore these few naysayers.
The total number of pips per week did not change.

Its not about camping, its about proper rotations. The nerf on vital persistence ruined the synergy with a lot of traits therefore delivering a big hit on a lot of builds. VP is also necessary to keep up with the current meta.
The Speed of Shadows nerf-to-end-all-nerfs was delivered quietly at the end of the Necro section.
This is what it used to do:
Increases movement speed while in shroud. Reduces recharge on shroud.
Miscellaneous effect.png Movement speed increase: 25%
Count Recharge.png Recharge Reduced: 30%WHAT A MESS! Where’s the petition? Fire the balance team!
This nerf was worse than the VP nerf imho. Or rather, the nerf to SoS WITH the nerf to VP is just ridiculus. Not only do we have less shroud time, we lose the ability to access it more often.
The synergy with SoS and the other skills is what really hurts my playstyle.
I can no longer do small scale fights, so I’m back to standing on walls in WvW.
If you want free condi necro bags, roll Daredevil.
Or Druid…,
100% can confirm. Mained one before my thief
It’s OP but this huge list of classes can beat it. #ForumLogic
this will be interesting, i look forward to the change, its only within your territory so should be entertaining
My deadeye will be waiting for you when you flying over head and shoot you down like a duck :P this is going to be hilarious.
Yet another way for thieves to kill people that have no chance of fighting back. The elite that makes a class designed for cowards even more cowardly. /slowclap
Bingo! Someone get this man a cuddly toy. He shot that duck fair and square.
Let’s remember, there are decisions being made that affect abilities by as little as ¼ of a second.
Necro gets Shroud wait time extended by a third! That’s brutal!
(edited by Svarty.8019)
Guess they didn’t wanted us to buy the new xpac. We need a BUFF rather than a nerf. But then again, I expected nothing from Anet.
No! No! You HAVE to play scourge because old classes are weak (now)!
.
lets enjoy it
I’m not into S&M but thanks for the suggestion.
The reality, despite anet for an inexplicable reason not being forthcoming about it, is that pre-nerf vital persistence had no effect on Scourge or its skills and thus had to go. All scourge skills just cost flat life force like it’s a mana bar. Even desert shroud is a glorified mallyx elite.
Build diversity buff by virtue of Soul Reaping being an open-air debris garden?
None of that matters, it’s the Speed of Shadows nerf that people will REALLY feel.
Its not about camping, its about proper rotations. The nerf on vital persistence ruined the synergy with a lot of traits therefore delivering a big hit on a lot of builds. VP is also necessary to keep up with the current meta.

Well, this is just miserable.
Let’s spend our money elsewhere…
Having considered it for a while, I like the idea. I have some nice ideas for where we’ll see this being used and it will be cool.
Also, thanks for the territory preview map.
This looks great! Something to work for that will reward long-term dedication.
If anybody thinks this will be “easy”, it’ll take 15 weeks (of MAX tickets) to get the gear BEFORE changing it to legendary.
You should also add on the whatever cost of 18 of the new Gifts will be.

The sky is falling!
Oh … wait.. people are falling out of the sky. My bad.
But yes, it feels like a pet project that has been itching at the devs for two years.
- My big question is can we access areas that were previously inaccessible, and if so can we build siege there?
(edited by Svarty.8019)
This is wrong. Damage absorption is, pound for pound, better than healing. Drastically more useful.
Explain this one.
A character has 12k HP. They are hit by a 15k hit.
If you place a 5k barrier on them beforehand, they survive with 3k.
If you try to heal them afterwards for 5k, it doesn’t work because they are dead.
Ahhhhh!!!!!! BUT! BUT what if you try to heal them afterwards for 15k?! Huh huh?!!
Someone said Scourge is supporty. :/ pff.
Decay, however, is like prescribing chemotherapy for a wart. The wart may die, but it’s hardly worth the trouble.
I don’t think it’s overkill at all. I believe Decay to be an elegant solution.
While I find it frustrating that siege isn’t always there when you need it, I don’t think it’s a problem that deserves developer effort.
decay is necessary.
one could even argue that something like this in OP could be abused and is therefore not in the best interests of everyone.
Indeed. Imagine if people put five rams where ACs should be…
If Arenanet were to make all servers use EotM megaserver technology, I can’t see myself playing this game at all.
Please amend the proposal so that it works without me losing community. There’s a difference between server linkings (which introduce a lot of new players to one another over a long period of time) and Megaserver (which gives you 1(?) hour to speed-date your companions before booting you out).
I want the sense of permanence – what’s now known as server community. Those people can change over time, but I want to bump into my WvW allies who aren’t in any of my guilds – just comrades-in-arms whom I fight beside and get to know slowly over time. That’s a cool thing. THAT IS A FUN THING.
Ok, but what are players here going to do when Camelot Unchained launches with [features list] and is the predecessor to Dark Age of Camelot that gw2 wvw was modeled after?
If you’ve been following CU development you’ll have noticed Mark Jacobs mention multiple times that he has no magic bullet for population imbalance and won’t be doing much about it (also, it’s a (spiritual) successor, not predecessor).
Either gw2 needs to get rid of the old model, and all of the major flaws that go with it, to compete with what’s coming, or the precious wvw as we know it will be hit hard by a game that is 100% designed for pvp and rvr.
I’m a huge fan of Jacobs, I played DAoC for 4 years and think he did a great job of Warhammer (eventually), and I think he’ll make a success of CU, but I don’t think it’s the massive challenger to GW2 that many here tout it as. Subs alone are a huge barrier for many players, and that’s before we even talk about the difference in gameplay.
(edited by Svarty.8019)
Go to school, learn english and youre fine.
That makes no sense whatsoever, particularly when it’s possible to join a native language server. It saddens me that people have to take a big ping hit just to have this “luxury”.
As an EU player, I find it odd that there isn’t a dedicated Spanish server on NA.
Does anybody know why this is, considering that half of the Americas speak Spanish?
The result seems to be that all the Latin Americans play at night time on Baruch Bay in europe.
Would it be better if there was an American Spanish-speaking server or not?
The good news is that suns, clouds, umbrellas, snowmen, comets, stars, star outlines, old telephones and outlines of old telephones are all supported.
Hopefully this will serve as compensation for the lack of actually useful characters.
I’ve crashed out in WvW a few random times trying to see if claimed structures/camps my server owns had upgrades slotted and so decided to investigate the cause.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open the objective upgrades window for an objective on another BL (empty upgrade slots should be white) that your server has claimed but has no slotted upgrades yet.
- Click on an empty upgrade slot to highlight it and leave it for a minute and watch the rotating background behind the I, II and II; after a minute or two the background animation will seemingly “jerk” or “reset” itself and your slot will automatically deselect.
- Clicking this slot again will crash gw2.
I just tried this and can confirm that my client crashed with the “A serious error” popup.
Because we have both guns and regular bows, cross bows would be redundant. Don’t expect new weapon types, you’re setting yourselves up for disappointment.
Also, don’t expect anything to look as nice as that image you provided.
