Still struggling vs thief with the new “balance” changes that don’t “balance” anything.
Land Staff 5 and Staff 3, maybe use #2 or #3 on scepter if you fancy, then leave. They should die from that.
I tried that, it doesn’t do much.
So far the class that was “designed” to outlast oponents in PvP gets outasted and burst down faster than most other classes. The ones that could get burst down quickly have escape options or other survivabily tools at thier disposal.
Powercreep does not exist cough cough cough
I fear we’re all wasting our time here. Lest we forget, here is what the PvP forum looks like at the moment.
I look forward to the WvW forum having this much developer attention after the upcoming WvW patch!
Top comment on this video suggests Keybinds Per Class. I concur with this and hope the developers do, too.
Helseth – a guide to settings and keybinds
I love getting feedback like this. It helps inform our decisions about what changes to make and when to make them, and for the record we agree with a lot of the assessments you have all given here. Keep it coming!
And here I was thinking you guys only liked positive comments.
Wow the pvp ascended is so kitten easy to get. A few hours and ive got 4 pieces already.
And better still, the more you play PvP and not WvW, the more they can ignore WvW and develop PvP!
- There’s now no point fighting for second place. Win or don’t bother seems to be the message.
First or nothing, how does it affect the people who don’t care about winning or losing?
Let’s be honest. Scores are like a tertiary part of the game really. Nobody is trying to score points – We want;
- to kill enemies, and while that’s happening;
- to maintain ownership of, and upgrade our own stuff, and,
- give enemies a black eye by downgrading their stuff, and,
- kick them in the nuts by defending their stuff from a recap
Scores are there to make the matches even in that they should determine which enemies we get matched up with next time.
Having said all of that. I would sort of agree with your assessment, and it should give more even second and third places per match, with the dominant side being kingmaker – I expect to see more angry politics in-game as players gain more hatred for these dominators. Hatred, good! Yeeeessss..
I don’t, people are lazy and want to kill easy targets, for second place that would be the server in third place usually
I would say people are efficient, rather than lazy.
I’m no behavioural analyst, but I suppose that the thinking is that one guaranteed point is better than the possibility of two.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-December-13-2016
World vs. World
General
- On Friday’s reset (12/16), skirmish points will change:
- 1st place will be awarded 2 points.
- 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded 1 point.
- This is a change that we and the players wanted to try. If we aren’t happy with the results, we can change the skirmish score values again.
War score floaters have been added.
- When war score is earned via various activities, floaters will now appear above various things to display the amount of points earned for all teams.
- When an objective is captured/ticks, the war score will appear above the lord.
- When a player is killed, the war score will appear above the player.
- When a sentry is captured/ticks, the war score will appear above the capture point.
- When a shrine is captured, the war score will appear above the shrine.
- When a dolyak is killed or makes it to an objective, the war score will appear above the dolyak.
Thanks for these new things. I know we were hoping for more (we always are, ofc), but these look like good changes anyway.

I find the OP’s comment intriguing.
For all the jokes here (good work, btw), I like how the OP is thinking. GW2’s PvE, like PvE in all current MMOs, isn’t a competition between players, it is a chore.
Should it be a competition, should (and could) there be puzzles (not jumping puzzles – which are physical tests really, like PvP rotation-training) that can’t be solved by a website?
It could be argued that the aim of PvE is to acquire more than other players, but after a while players become comfortable and satisfied with the amount of gold, stuff, dyes etc that they have. Sometimes people like to compare: “How much Karma do you have?” crops up from time to time.
I suppose the nearest thing is achievement points – and there are Dulfy guides for those.
Great post.
Great, but inaccurate. Or to put it less diplomatically, wrong.
As a WvW player, it will be nice to see PvPers coming to WvW with no idea how powerful or otherwise their builds are.
If you don’t like the way a commander plays, may I suggest that you can buy your own tag, tag up, and be the commander you want to see on the map?
Gandhi would be proud.
In my opinion, this idea, whilst fun and cool, would waste decades of WvW development time that could be spend on getting other things done (but won’t). SO I say go for it. Why the hell not? By the time it is implemented we’ll all have moved on anyway.
I have a sneaking suspicion that there will be a lot of upset WvW players when the PvP patch (tomorrow -13/12/2016) doesn’t balance things for them (because of skill separation).
Having said this, it might make the game more …interesting… for players who bring their established PvP builds to WvW and discover that they aren’t as effective in this mode. Hopefully it will mean they aren’t the roaming monsters we currently endure.

High mobile classes that can enter and leave combat is a very abusive mechanic for roamer.
If it doesn’t affect PvP, it won’t get fixed.
Druid Longbow #4 is proccing Ancient Seeds.
Ancient seeds states:
Striking a stunned, dazed, knocked down or launched foe summons roots to entangle them.
Longbow #4 states:
Push back your foe with a point-blank shot. The closer they are, the farther is pushes them back.
Knockback for range less than 300: 600
Knockback for range between 300-600:500
Knockback for greaterthan 600: 400
Knockback is not Launch and there are specific differences as detailed in the wiki.
- BUG REPORTED 12/12/2016 -
@BlaqueFyre.5678 “Quit crying and move on, WvW get more attention” WvW will not get more attention when you only have like two devs working on it which is part time and their main focus in PvE. So please hush.
You are just whining and lying when saying and I quote "while its been years WvW has barely gotten that level attention. " when the past year WvW has. Web receiving a lot of attention/overhauls/additions. And WvW will get more attention so don’t worry quit whining.
It’s undeniable that WvW has had developer attention this year, but I question developer focus when;
- didn’t provide features that increase a team’s ability to recover from large point disparities, and instead do the opposite (see #2).
- they implement things that only 13.7% of those polled requested.
- out off the blue they suggest open field cannons
I was encouraged when developers made the proposal for, “New Worlds”. This gave me the impression that they were trying. I was instantly discouraged when they just dismissed the whole idea after people suggested that there were problems with it, rather than discussing those problems and solutions to them.
This would benefit thieves, who have zero cooldowns anyway.
There should be a reward for winning. Let’s brainstorm ideas for it.
It should fulfil the following criteria:
- The reward should be cool/desirable,
- The reward should not be something that makes players more powerful,
- The reward should be temporary i.e. for the duration of the following week (so players don’t end up with stacks and stacks of reward),
- You can suggest alternate rewards for other criteria, such as most camps flipped or whatever, so servers who know they will be creamed (we all know this is due to dev neglect, let’s not discuss that here) can focus on one of these instead of winning,
- I would suggest to any dev considering this that the reward should require a certain amount of hours spent in WvW per week.
To clarify: we’re looking at a firework, a finisher or something equally fun/pointless.

I have a few questions:
What makes you think Arenanet are suddenly going to make such an enormous commitment of resources to developing WvW content?
Why would Arenanet make radical changes that they know might obliterate their current WvW population?
What happens when the population is spread so thinly that many of the modes aren’t used? Why develop them in the first place?
What happens when everybody wants to play one mode but not the others?
What about server pride? Home area? Despite what a lot of people think, people love this stuff.
What happens to whole teamspeak communities when they can’t join the same map together?
Where is the opportunity for Arenanet to make money from transfers and why would they give up their current money-making system for one that doesn’t?
This seems like an idea for a completely new game. Good luck with it.
My guess is that;
- Animations are probably done using and old, expensive mocap system,
- The developers don’t feel fully in control of their skill system and don’t like to touch it once it’s implemented,
- The guy who made/maintained the system went to another company.
Am I the only person who finds this insulting?
Judging by the replies here, no, but I believe it isn’t insulting and I’ll tell you why.
One game can only be so much. If you want more than that game can provide – look elsewhere. That’s not an insult, that’s logic. You might also make suggestions to the developers, and hope they adopt your proposal, but don’t hold your breath.
Ultimately, looking for another game is simply common sense and not something to be upset about – all games eventually come to an end (even WoW – actually, scratch that, not WoW. WoW will be there after humanity is long gone, still churning out raids – That’s automation, right there).
Stats in WvW do matter in small groups, scouting, or solo roaming. In larger scale a player can mix in and make do being naked (i.e. carried). Then there is the fact blobs can abuse traits, sigils, food, conditions, and a host of other things that most of us agree are game breakers.
Literally everybody who plays WvW at some point plays vs small numbers of enemies. thus stats will matter to everybody who plays WvW.
It’s hard to say what they know or don’t know when the people who write the actual code are not the ones who decide the direction of the game.
That’s a fair comment, I am simply basing my comment on developer posts … I mean, it’s not as if they can’t respond or even be proactive on the forum themselves. I believe it reasonable to take their lack of interaction for a lack of interest.
I am very happy to discover that the devs are communicating on Reddit, but I don’t think this is well known. Here is the latest thing: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/5e6uxb/a_crack_in_the_ice_devs_here_ask_us_anything/?st=iwjfo5x6&sh=e63636a9

Technically EotM is part of WvW. Look, it even appears on the WvW map. There is also the supply delivery that the EotM dominant side gets in their Citadel, which means that is impacts the WvW game, albeit slightly.
It is unpopular with regular WvW players because of the awful floating-island style design, narrow walkways (especially considering all the knockback powers in the game and that there are 70+ enemies grouped together), a lack of places to fight in open field and horribly designed objectives that often make defending futile because of the tight confines and difficulty in circumventing enemies to hit them from behind.

Here is my latest suggestion for siege: Rocks.
In reality, a staple of warfare since pre-human times, rocks were still being used in medieval times:
“Soldiers would be positioned atop the second wall and armed with any variety of weapons, ranging from bows to crossbows to simple rocks.”
How would we use those? I’m glad you asked, because the developers would doubtless get it wrong if you didn’t (sorry developers, but after 4 years your track record is abysmal, but I have faith you can do better from now on! Implement Rocks correctly and the world is your oyster).
Pile of Rocks appears on the inside of a wall, near steps leading up.
Player interacts with Pile of Rocks to acquire Rock, a skill set:
- Throw rock – a single-target attack with a range of whatever is reasonable – can damage siege and doors but not walls.
- ROLL rock – bowls the rock along the floor – this is intended to be rolled off a wall and onto point-blank siege below. The express purpose is to destroy catapults that are below the wall without having to stand on the edge of the wall.
-Suggestion ends-
Please leave feedback when you hear read the tone. The Tone.
Getting people to stick on tag and/or join teamspeak (or voice communications of your choice)
The 100% Problem with WvW Development is that;
- there is barely any of it, and
- the developers aren’t prepared to spend time learning about it
- so they don’t know why players enjoy it
- so they don’t improve it the way players want it to be improved
It all comes down to a misallocation of resources by the guy at the top…
… and that’s Mike. Sorry Mike.
New about season 5 is coming very Soon™!
Here I am trying to decide whether you forgot an entire word or just a letter, but waiting for both news and new info all the same :P.
One letter -_-
You know those bugs you don’t make…
Grats, this is easily the most obscure reference I’ve seen in months.

- The overarching plot is has been one-dimensional.
- We all know that the story needs a moral dilemma and meaningful betrayal. The current season is the best thus far in this regard. If Braham doesn’t go full evil I’ll be disappointed.
- The main enemies (Dragons) are boring when they are just combat encounters (regardless how intricate) with no/meaningless dialogue.
- In terms of combat, it seems that Arenanet are focusing on producing raid-style fights – which seems to be an effort to make them interesting while at the same time production-lining them.

I love GW2 so much!
I enjoy the Story Missions!
I enjoy the Events!
I enjoy the Exploration!
I enjoy the Jumping Puzzles!
I enjoy the Combat!
I enjoy the Voice Acting!
I enjoy the Cutscense!
I enjoy the PvP!Honestly I love it so much!
GW2 makes other MMOs a chore to play.
GW2 makes other MMOs boring to play.
GW2 makes other MMOs feel cheap.ArenaNet I ask you this:
Please make MORE!
MORE STORY!
MORE JUMPING PUZZLE!
MORE EVERYTHING!Only Issue I have is there never seems to be enough! =(
Forget playing other MMOs… they are boring grind fest compared to the adventures of Guild Wars 2 in the world of Tyria!
Nobody will remember any of that in 10 years time. The only thing they will remember is WvW. Calling it now.
how about 3 servers with no HoT forever
I think anet would be surprised how many would transfer there
I think you would be surprised how few would transfer there.
I like reaper because I don’t have to have a target.

You know those bugs you don’t make…
PvE crowd won this game once ascended was even introduced. Camelot Unchained can’t come soon enough.
Kind of like how Blade and Soul couldn’t come soon enough? Or Black Desert? Or Wildstar? Or ESO?
MMO specialist, DocGotGame is recommending Archeage’s new 3.0 fresh start for PvP, though it’s not WvW/RvR.
… but all WvW fans are watching Crowfall and Camelot Unchained.
I’m amazed how poorly WvW has been treated, considering that it’s easily the best aspect of GW2. What will GW2 be remembered for? Raids? Fracdulls? Living Story? I think not. It’ll be remembered (fondly, despite Anet’s neglect and our disappointment) for WvW.
I feel like I just typed an obituary.

Why give the developers the opportunity to waste development time on YET ANOTHER thing that people didn’t ask for and don’t want?
Players say Devs, we want new maps
And Devs granted new map
Players say Devs, maps are too big, small populated servers can’t cover/manage
And Devs removed new map
Players say, Devs, we made a mistake, we want the map back
And devs took a poll and added map backSee any pattern here at all OP?
Correction:
Some players told devs they wanted new maps. I was never in this group. I think other WvWvW related things should be solved first: Like population imbalance, better profession/skill balance, better rewards, getting rid of lag & bugs. These remain still to be solved and since Arenanet has limited resources, I hope they are NOT wasting their limited resources in making a 3rd borderland map.
While I concur with you, I do wonder whether Arenanet should pay attention to the result of the polls or not. The OP is clearly in the minority and yet believes they should listen to him/her.
Having said this, I also wonder why they implement things that only 13.7% of those polled requested.
RIP ascalonian mage tonics, you will be missed
Only by some.
It’s less about learning and more about interest, if I buy a new game I can usually tell if I’m going to like it or not with the first 5-10 min, I won’t bother putting in the effort to learn if I already know I’m never going to play it. So learning to stay on tag is irrelevant if the map is not enjoyable.
The Desert Borderland had forum hipsters whinging from the get-go. They are the same casuals who say they “only play for fights”, “hate PPT”, etc. – to me this is boring, mindless trend-following. Think for yourselves!
Nobody is forced to make legendary items. If you WANT the legendary item, you have to do what is necessary to make them.
Careful they will give you infraction points for being negative lol
In fairness, the moderation has been noticeably more lenient in the last couple of years.
Arenanet happened. They are busy with living story, forget WvW – they see it as a sideshow.
Desert Borderlands are good, but are in need of desperate alteration. There are fun battles to be had in the map, particularly with the powerful bosses.
My main issues with desert map:
- Garrison is very difficult to defend
- Towers give no advantage – they are pointless
Other people I talk to believe:
- The objectives are too far apart
- There is nothing in the middle of the map, this could be a good fight-spot if the ruins were sunk low into the ground
It would be interesting to see these things examined with some seriousness by the developers. I mean, I appreciate that they’ve changed things considerably from their original, unpopular vision to something that more players enjoy, but I’d love to see the map make more sense.
TL;DR The Desert Borderland is a beautiful map which is even better with the changes. It should have a few more adjustments, too, though.

I’m looking forward to the replacement giving a monkey’s about WvW, as well as PvP.
(edited by Svarty.8019)
I think the dev team is still struggling to comprehend the work of a certain Mr. Peters. Once his logic has been translated into human, I’m sure they will try to fix all the glaring imbalances and boring mechanics that currently plague the game.
when will season 5 arrive? this year or next year?
New about season 5 is coming very Soon™!
Now it will be funny if it is announced that it is coming next year.
