I suggest going to http://guildwars2roleplayers.com/home and maybe checking out the guilds. Joining a guild might really be helpful – there is a mega rp guild TCRP…if you see anyone from that guild, they can invite you.

Also listed on the site are events, they are almost all public (I have yet to see a private event listed). You can also try the other DR pubs, Maiden’s Whisper and The Busted Flagon...and if I’m not mistaken, there is RP in all the pubs in major cities.

I made my female norns tall as can be and I love it! On a side note, I made my asura (male and female) short as can go and I love that too!

You can always create your toon, go into Hoelbrak then to Lion’s Arch quite easily and then compare your toon to the crowd standing around the bank. Nothing lost in rerolling to change size if you don’t like it.

I think this is a lot easier than getting Warhorn Weapon Master.

This isn’t a very big deal, but I couldn’t help but find it incredibly odd that all of the sylvari NPCs, especially those two, left with everyone else through the portal, instead of staying behind to check up on their poor mother, who’s lying on the ground passed out and barely breathing.

Furthermore, when talking to Trahearne, he has nothing to say about the ordeal aside from wanting to go back to Fort Trinity asap (understandable, but your mom almost died honey). I didn’t recall seeing Caithe anywhere…? Atleast Laranthir expressed some concern.

I just found it distracting that Anet made all of the non-sylvari Destiny Edge v2 people show more concern for the Pale Tree than the important sylvari NPCs, the firstborn no less.

Especially that Trahearne is the first of the first. I did this on my human and before I left through the portal, I kept going back to talk to the wardens cause it seemed wrong to leave. (The wardens assured me that I could do nothing more and they would take it from there.)

I just want a profession that doesn’t die, and is easy to learn for a newcommer. I have hear that warrior is the most “user friendly” one.

Welcome to the game! Sorry your post is being hijacked by fools. As you can see, some people have very strong opinions.

For just general PvE stuff, I have personally found that Guardian is the easiest, “tankiest” (and I didn’t use hammer either!!), followed by Necro. I got my Warrior to level 55 and Guardian was a million times easier to level. I have no idea why Warrior is deemed to be easy and op because I have not found that to be the case at all.

However, you asked for guides/builds. A great wealth of information is located at dulfy.net. She has recently been adding class guides that I think are very helpful – warning, they are very long and geared more towards doing dungeons.

Keep this in mind…you start with 5 character slots…make a guardian, warrior, necro and engie (as suggested in this thread) and see which one you like most! It’s important YOU have fun with whichever profession you play.

After my inept typing /say resulted in death many times, I found that saying “Thank you” while being revived works out well. I’m still dead and even if it ends up that I’m not fully revived, I can still be appreciative of the effort.

Very nice! I also prefer GW2/orchestral music, but I can’t imagine it in this video; the song fit quite nicely. You did a great job!

I could use some help as I keep using up charges trying to get a look I’m happy with.

• Human female mesmer.
• Prefer overall medium – light colors (dark colors ok as accent) and please use at least 2 different colors.
• Sexy but not overly sexy. (example: Inquest chest is too much.)
• No ascended gear.
• No bows on butt.

So we know about whats going on with Marjory but I like a theory crafted on Reddit that I hope A-net pays attention to because this to me would be the making of Jory as a character.

Jory sent Kasmeer and you away, so that she could potentially practice necromancy on Belinda hoping to bring her back from the dead.

This, to me gives us TWO opportunities for some very interesting theories:

1.
Jory fails, Belinda is horrifyingly deformed or something goes horribly wrong, which in turn will change Jory significantly as a person.

2.
Livia makes her first major appearance in the setting, and agrees to help Jory in return for something, and possibly train Jory to become a powerful necromancer in the future.

Thoughts?

No reason for Livia to make an appearance in relation to Jory. If anything, she’d show up because Queen Jennah is in extreme danger/killed.

How do you know the game isn’t meant to work that way? Please keep in mind that many, if not all, players encounter glitches at one point or another, or some anomaly that benefits. (And what of the glitches that hinder? There are plenty of those too! Maybe that can balance things out for you.) Most continue happily along, like finding a small amount of money in the middle of a street. So, in essence, you encountering a glitch actually puts you at a level playing field with everyone else. No advantages for you!

I agree that if you encounter a glitch, the best thing you can do is report it. Don’t restart, just move on. Consider yourself a part of the Anet QA team. You must go on to the next thing to find the next glitch and report it! I also very much like the suggestion of roleplaying.

The gloves seem to be Winged while the chest (which also covers the arms) is Apostle.

Because of the chest piece, all you are seeing of the gloves are what covers the hand. It goes farther up the forearm. But good news! You can get Winged gloves on the TP!

Weaponsmith maxed as in to 500? If so, it will cost more to max out Weaponsmith again than to buy an additional character slot, and a character slot is more useful. If you don’t want to spend the gold, remake your human engi to thief and see if you like thief. Getting levels doesn’t take long (especially if you have scrolls that take you straight to Lvl 20). Of course, if you end up hating thief, you’re left with a decision to make.

Wouw, unfortunately, total make over kits don’t let you change your race or profession, only your looks and gender. :/

Oh I see. I know you can change your background music…but have no idea on things like whispers. Judging how there has been a lack of response, I’d say there is likely no way to change your UI sounds.

Yes, go to your F11 screen, Sound Options. You can use the slider to adjust the volume for the UI. Also make sure you don’t have option that GW2 is muted when in the background.

However, there isn’t a specific slider for whispers, so overall your UI (in game mail notification, nearby events, etc.) sounds will be louder, not just whispers.

Also, you can use Laurels to buy Heavy Crafting Materials – gives 3 T6 mats. But, make your mystic clovers first since you get T6 mats there too.

• Using the device, at current, transports you to a random location in tyria. Using it upon being upgraded, will instead bring you to a random location in HARD MODE tyria. Effectively functioning the same, but bringing you to hard mode.

I like this. I especially like the random location…perhaps there is another that takes you to a specific place of your choosing and one random. Random yields better rewards or costs less.

However, I think this should be more like a dungeon. You and your party are taken to an instanced map. The map itself can be a mirror with just the foes being as you described, maybe more champs (looooot!), maybe less waypoints, no merchants/npcs. Time to use those repair canisters, revive orbs, black lion trading merchants and bank access express!!!!! GW1 was setup similar…remember the candy canes/clovers to remove death penalty?

The Scrying Pool is where everyone should have to go to replay missions from S2 after it’s over. Would be a good addition. Since everyone can access the HoM, they should give us the ability to make it nice again. I was super bummed when all my trophies, armor sets, weapons, pets etc. weren’t there and it was totally dilapidated. Could have been implemented as an actual monument to our past accomplishments on a much grander scale than it was.

I, too, was sad not to see my accomplishments…even if they too were fallen over and half destroyed…it would have been cool. But, oh well! There was also the issue that some characters had more than others…so likely couldn’t have been done anyhow.

I don’t think I’d get it myself but I was super happy when someone plopped one down right before the Boss Blitz started. That was fun. The bobblehead prank was my favorite silly fun thing in game so it’s nice to be able to experience that again.

I had thought the same when wardrobe system came out.

Access to bank from anywhere for free!…no can do. Then, there has to be a reason why X is now there that fits with lore. Maybe one day in the future there will be a quest. The scrying pool somehow come back to life and will give us a vision of something!

Or it will be just something that we visit once and never again. I’m sure there are other places in game like that. How often do we visit Queen Jenna, or Rytlock or that place in Rata Sum?

Give it a try like Lazuli of using the w, s, q, e. Also, there is a keybind for Turn Around, while it’s buggy, if you keep hitting it, you will eventually turn around. lol

I started gaming just a few years ago (I’m 35) and I did struggle a little bit. Show him different options. My husband (who has gamed since his teens) showed me how he plays but also told me all the options of how to move. I tried his way and found a different way that felt much more comfortable for me.

In my experience, having never played a pc game or mmorpg, I found it pretty overwhelming at first….inventory, what to save/sell/use, who to buy what from, builds, crafting. I didn’t understand why I would want to gather, why I would want to make things at all, how to create builds that work for my game style (especially when you don’t have all traits unlocked)…or changing how I play to maximize a build, using consumables, creating combos…there is a lot more reading involved than I thought there would be. And that doesn’t touch the socialization part! Map chat was always gibberish for the longest time as everyone talks in acronyms and sometimes it’s kinda shocking what people write (no I’m not a prude).

Please be very patient – you’re going to have to repeat…A LOT. Just a little bit at a time! And encourage him not to give up!

Most of all, have fun! Your father is likely happy to spend time with his kid so make the most of it!

They will not be in the story Journal, and they will remain as temporary content that comes in each year for a period of time and then packs up and leaves when the festival has completed.”

To answer your question: Queen’s Gauntlet is a festival thus temporary and Destruction of LA is Season 1. Once they put Season 1 in the journal, then I guess you’ll have a definitive answer.

It is 100% immersion breaking. Not to mention the complete and utter wreck it has all made of guild missions or anything that requires a large coordinated group.

I completely disagree (except for wreck of guild missions…that does suck). My top 3 reasons:

1. There are still things I haven’t done, events I haven’t encountered, NPCs with lore I have not spoken to, even though I have two characters with 100% map completion. Tyria is a big place, if you go to places to you don’t normally go to with a character that is not your main, the experience is different. That doesn’t touch experimenting with different builds or different weapons.

2. I thought I wouldn’t like megaserver, but for the most part, I do. The game feels more alive. I party with more random people also exploring the area, whereas before I was always alone. I’ve noticed an influx of new/returning players and I find it enjoyable to bump into them and help out. In mid-higher levels, I do experience the small groups banding together against a difficult champ/event.

3. I love my guild. I love the people in my guild and I enjoy gaming/chatting with them. They have a great sense of humor and it’s just what I like for relaxing…which is why I game at all.

Are there things that can use improvement? Absolutely. Since I only play a few hours a day, I’m lucky that there is still much I have not completed/experienced. For others that game a lot more, yep, I can see how you can get bored.

Every map has Champions (they give better loot) and usually people call them out in map chat. Ask for them to ping the waypoint and specify directions if they don’t do so initially.

What would be really good is to join a guild. There are often people recruiting in every map. Unless you want to WvW with your guild, it doesn’t matter what server you are on. Don’t be afraid to try out different guilds until you find the right fit for you. You can also post in the Guilds section of these forums.

Also, don’t be afraid to put in map chat that you are mapping and would like company. Worse will be that no one will respond…but usually someone does.

Play the one you enjoy playing now. If the all weapons for all professions comes to pass, that might not be for a looong time. This was written almost a year ago. Then you would have gotten bored playing a profession you’re not to thrilled about. Also, there aren’t any details. You might have access to the weapon, but what skills would you have? Would there be limitations?

Then, if/when it comes to pass, you’ll have fun with a whole new character!

People who are making derogatory remarks aren’t going to read this with any seriousness. Unfortunately, if they are acting in such an uncivilized sort of way, they don’t care about who they might be hurting. You are likely not going to be able to reason or change that person. They are hiding behind anonymity…which also shows their true colors.

Question though, how can you know the sexuality of another player? Are they using the insulting term for gay as a general insult and the actual gay player is taking it personally? I’m not saying the term is acceptable at all…sometimes, like in real life, you have to learn to let the insults roll off your back and not take it personally. It’s not about you, it’s about that person’s own insecurities/discomfort. No denying it’s hard. Good for you, Quincy, to reach out a helping hand.

The bonus of game vs. RL is that the game has block! Use it!

Seems like we are the minority.

Trahearne maybe have been terribly boring, but he doesn’t take credit. How is he any different from other npc’s in our personal story? As a higher rank, he is in charge of ordering us around…as for the speech, that would be like being upset that Queen Jennah makes a speech about humans uniting instead of our character.

The real issue with Trahearne is that he seems unable to make a decision for himself, he’s very uncertain, way too recluse and there isn’t really a good “bonding” moment with him. He’s very serious, almost to the point of being depressed all the time…I can’t think of him acting/feeling happy or cracking a joke at all, even at the end!

I, too, agree we will likely see more of him come LS2. Maybe he’ll be a bit more confident and lighten up just a tiny bit.

I’m 35 and many in my guild are older than me – mostly 40s and 50s. There are older than that, I’m sure…and I love them all! Being a part of an “older” guild has really made this game even more enjoyable for me.

I am not claiming to be the only one practicing the art of “Off-mapping” though. I am claiming the title though for I only know 1 player in the entire game that knows as many places as I do. (Xiem/Trix – We play together sometimes)

I have a friend that has made it his mission to find how to get under the maps. My guild stumbled upon one in Iron Marches when we had a guild event using a Twisted Watchwork Portal Device. We could see the Chaos Crystal Caverns as if it were cross sectioned…very cool to see. Going under the map in Cursed Shore looks cooler though…I think he mostly uses jumping and Experimental Rifles.

Haha, I wondered the same. A couple of days ago, I opened one and of course, it blew up and I went down. Sorry, no screenshots.

Complete daily achievements and receive daily reward on that character you are leveling. You get much more experience from completing each achievement on daily list than if you did those things without them being part of the daily. I’ve leveled up very quickly doing this…and as others said, exploring the world, doing hearts, gathering…

Conflux is a great guild. After looking around for a guild, my friend invited me to Conflux. I’ve been really happy with the people here. There are scheduled events to do as a guild ( e.g. Dungeon Day), the more experienced take the time to teach and everyone is pretty laid back.

We have a good amount of influence and thus have many guild buffs going, so that’s a plus.
