I have noticed my playing may have improved since sat (or better match ups)- I switched onto my their, guard and necro (been manning this one lately).

Something definitely changed – gone from 38% win ratio to over 43%.
I am also still climbing the leaderboard Sitting at rank 30 – and really enjoying some of the high level fights that have been going on lately.
Perhaps it’s me or it’s the matchmaking has improved ?

My win / loss feels closer to 50% when the team I am in is actually playing (and not having people who AFK for mins at a time – who I report for bottling OR go Afk).

I’m getting less of these 20s Que times and insta matchs and I know that I’m really appreciating the waits between matches for a much better overall experience.

Prehaps I am a masocist – I am a EU Player on a NA Server.
So I run usually arund 8pm UTC – 11.30 UTC.

I see this as a limited population issue – as many cannot read lfgs/descriptions or requirements for a group.

Weekends are okay – as I can hook up with my international guildies on both sides of the world – APAC/USA. But trying to do stuff on NA Servers is defn. harder being an EU player with the reset where it is.

Read – this is why this post and many others will get shot down:

Turn down the negative tone.
There’s a difference between being critical and being negative. Learn this difference and avoid the latter. Select words that show you’ve thought about the effects of the problem rather than simply presenting your gut reaction.

NO: “I can’t see around that ridiculous ball of puke-colored light.”
YES: "The light around this character obstructs the view from most camera angles and is an unpleasant shade of yellow.

No one knows best.
Avoid taking an inflexible position or positioning yourself as the authority. Proposals should be accepted on their merits and practicality. Disagreements should be settled after careful consideration. Using forceful, pretentious language hurts your point. If your argument is “You need to do it my way because I know best,” then we probably won’t because it seems you don’t.

NO: “I’ve played games like this since I was ten. Trust me: you have to include polearms.”

Don’t speak from inexperience.

Avoid inaccuracies.

This thread has gone in two directions again:
1) PHIW being excluded from zerk only groups – they are not good enough, cannot use active defenses (can’t recognise and don’t want to that zerker groups use these) , don’t want to trait up in an optimal way (weapons,food,utils,traits) don’t understand there professions full potential and will protest until they are blue in the face.
OR
Just want to have good runs and be carried by others (eg zerkers)- and can’t be asked to form a PHIW group running what the hell you want and will protest until they are blue in the face.
OR
Don’t want to be told what to run and don’t want to learn from others – and will protest until they are blue in the face.
2) I cannot understand GW2 trinity (damage,support and control)- which all professions can do and want the (heal,DPS and tank)- cause that is all I understand from years of playing other MMOs. They will protest that GW2 is all wrong and needs to be changed until they are blue in the face.

If you fit any of the above- I hear that the smurfs 3 are looking for more actors.
As you’re blue in the face already you could land the star role !

Create a new toon !
They will be getting rid of the horrible trait system or revamping when hot comes out.

It’s a good chance to lvl up on low levels get lov level mats (which are worth more) whilst you do your killing of foes at a lower level.

I cannot support the suggestion you are making – too much effort from Dev perspective where other bigger things can be made with the limited resources available.

It was put at UTC time as it never changes – is a crude measure.
Getting guildies together is much harder than you think- the population imbalance of let’s say NA players on EU or EU on NA servers is much smaller than you think which can run at a high level.

Now if EU & NA merged for PvE – better coverage would be available.

The suggestions of a 8 hr reset are not that unreasonable on the face of it.
It’s not an exploit – people that could be on for 12 hrs prob currently still earn the same in or out of dungeons as all zones roughly balance out at 10g/hr wherever you are – dungeons actually come out with a lot lower gold/hr ratio than a lot of other content available.

Funny thing is most current metas don’t stack (including zerk) for most bosses and now fight in open.

So yet again brainy smurfs this solves nothing and will only hurt the non zerk players more – they have been conditioned to Zerg and stack.

I don’t see anything new in this thread that was not raised in last months zerk a meta thread .

Almost forgot this one at the start..
Was playing on a map once and went why are we playing 10v5?
.
This is no fair – how are we expected to win if they have 10 players !

.- it wasn’t till a few matches later I realised Mesmer’s could clone/phantasm and duplicate themselves all over the place.

I still sometimes have trouble working out how many Mesmer’s are at a cap point if there are lots of Mesmer’s on the opposite team quickly.

The same goes for FoTM – there needs to be three reset periods !
The further away you are from the reset period the harder it is to find a team for that level,

The other thing to remember is all PvE events (when skilled)- including world bosses, Balth chains currently award more about 8-10g/hr.

The ability to run a dungeon 6 times in a hour for 1g reward is still less than running other PvE events.

I think it’s not about speed it’s about one reset/day for dungeons.

A suitable compromise would be to have 3 reset periods for a dungeon in a day – every 8 hours.
Right now what is happening is there is a large NA Crowd who can do dungeons after reset – EU players come home from work at different times (16 hrs later) and fine guildies have completed that path earlier in the day or there is a big lack of players available in the pool of people who would do them as most have already completed.

By introducing 3 reset periods for dungeons caters better for the time zones that exist in the world rather than the big mad rush that happens after reset. This will also have the positive effect of brining together people who are around for each segment.

The amount of gold in the economy does increase like the mad days when people ran CoF all day long- but would provide guildies more flexibility in which dungeon reset period they go to (and could do multiple).

Very few people would be able to do all 3 reset periods:12am-8am <US>,8am-4pm<APAC>,4pm-12pm<EU>.
But would at least improve the situation we currently have – which highly dose courage guildies to help each other with paths like we used to in the past.

FYI – Zerk is not easy mode…
Go do Arah p4 in 20 mins – that’s a speed clear requiring knowing the encounters well.
Many people would rather take zerk so they learn the encounters faster and what kills them and improve rather than face tank all the dmg in nobads gear and it take much longer. Even if it takes the full zerk team initially longer they learn and improve what active defenses are required where so it takes less time next run eventually improving to times that a non-zerk party cannot achieve.

Then go tell me how long it will take in a non-zerk.

It’s funny – all those private hoarders with 20+ of every precursors watch you profits fall.

This is know as a market changing announcement which will have economic shocks as supply will go up , demand will go down , velocity of transactions down.

Prices are already starting to nose dive – won’t be long until a full market recession hits.

Hi All,

For giggles what is the most noob or misleading thing you have done in PvP (Ranked or Unranked):
1) Pretended I am noob and it was my first PvP match ever whilst playing ranked – whilst displaying the reaper title prompting someone to rage quit the team. (guess they didn’t know PvP as the title kind of gives away I can’t be new)
2) Every time I killed someone typed ‘kaboom’

I would like to see this- I have many professions which I have not even started playing : mesmer, ele – and I know it will be really bad for the first 100 hrs or so when playing those professions.

Where if I play engineer, war or thief – I know I’m not balanced across those three classes on my highest skill level profession.

Nope dx12 will usually be back ported and is often supported via software if the GPU does not support all the calls.

The biggest improvement that dx12 gives is reduced CPU usage and faster gfx calls – which will improve heavy CPU (single thread) orientated games like GW2!

Most of the benefit is from how MS has rewritten the DX engine this time round rather than new fancy effects.

Yup this current test leaderboard is even worse… My win ratio is sinking even more wi with swap outs between team → solo → 2 man etc.

It’s like the mmr isn’t quite right at all.
I had about 40-45 % win ratio on the dec test… Now it’s <38% something here is not right.

If you bought the game via ncsoft write to customer support and see if they will give you the discount price and refund the difference.

Go to the top help→ support raise a ticket.

They often do for new purchasers when the sale price kicks in so quickly afterwards.

There are players that will do substantially better in team mode than solo que.

I honestly suspect the MMR will have a wide variance.
As a prior solo player (pretty much exclusively)- before sec 16th there I has a much higher win ratio. My team group ratio was much lower as I often would be teaching guildies or people starting out.

Now I rotate between both and it’s obvious that a single MMR (at least to me) doesn’t function well at all given the types of wins/losses and types of matches I have played recently.

Even teamed with 2-3 others who had a basic understanding of the maps compared to people in solo que who have no understanding makes a high difference.

If you don’t believe me try running in teams for a week and then go solo and vice versa.

That’s why I’m suggesting Jason looks at the stats of players who have mixed it up to support this with some data.

It may be we need 5 different MMRs behind the system of solo→full team.

Hi all,

There has been numerous threads on both zerker, meta and trinity causing problems.
I usually see a new thread on these subjects once a week (sometimes daily).
This is more often than not from PHIW rather than those who are playing the game as designed and want to remodel the game again into another WoW or other clone out there.

Does anyone have a list of the threads which we can merge together as a sticky ?

It needs to be a non-linear progression …

With input variables such as :
Solo MMR, 2 man MMR, 3 man MMR, 4 man MMR, Full-Team MMR as key input points into the team combined with the other members in the party to get your teams overall MMR. For some players there solo MMR can serve as a starting point for these data calculations- with each being tracked individually behind the scenes.
I think the 5 data points need to be tracked and see of they in a linear or non-linear MMR curve.

I suspect very inexperienced players solo MMR will be similar to a full 5 party MMR as they are novices at a map. The veteran players in a full team will have a much higher MMR differential between solo and team play.

The MMR needs to adjust a lot faster than it currently does as a couple of wins adjusts the MMR up far too quickly and is very slow to go back downwards.

This way if someone goes from 4 man to solo or to a full team they will get relatively challenging but fair fights over a period of time- rather than a loony loosing streak as the persons MMR adjusts down from the 4 man to the lower solo MMR they would normally have.

If you need to look at MMR / Match history and do some data point testing – feel free to look at the data behind my account as I have played solo/2man/5 man/solo/2 man/4 man teams and if this would produce better overall results.

Something does need to be done – not everyone can play full teams all the time and those who switch between solo or different sized teams are being unfairly punished right now.

DX12 is supported by the current nvidia hardware and will be via drivers.

They have already been working closely with MS on this.
For systems where it is not fully supported in hardware it’s usually done via software emulation like MS have done in the past.

They are also talking of back porting DirectX 12 to Windows 8.
With the free OS Upgrade to windows 10 for Win7 or above users -I expect the leap to the newer version of the OS to be faster and quicker than in the past.

I don’t get this… At all go back to team play and honestly get even more losses and fighting the same team for 1 HR resulting in 3 losses (1 person diff in opposite side) and 0 points gained or lost.

Honestly the win ratio and the rewards gained does not make this worth it any more.

I’m out until MMR is providing some decent match ups and variety.

On a finer note people who are persevering are not getting anywhere : I see people with 7 wins 27 losses – 0 points on the leaderboard. They were on the top 500 last season so I have no idea what’s changed but this just doesn’t feel rewarding or any fun at all now.

There is no reasonable explanation that a player can play this many matches and only win 4 points.

Hi All,

Okay I have been doing some testing on different characters..
To further prove this-
Total points gained =21

Solo q: — Phase 1— (Solo Q only) —
Leaderboard total now : 9 wins with 10 loses – just under 50%. (15 points gained)
—Phase 2— (Team Q)--
Then did some testing with some guildies on Sat [3-4 guildies/friends and a ANET person who was kind enough to join us for some fun]. We are a PvX guild so had some idea about PvP (and no idea about a lot of advanced strategies) with 3 out of 5 of the team in TS. We had no real idea what builds each other were running and only a little bit of sync between us (team composition).
Won 4 matches, lost one – points gain: 6. (Points lost from the lost match =0)

Leaderboard total now: 13 wins 10 losses – win ratio over 50% (21 points total)
—Phase 3— Solo Q — back to solo Q to see if we get any decent matches
All the matches on returning to team que as a solo player honestly have resulted often in carrying very bad players with no real concept of pvp or team work.

Leaderboard total now: 21 wins, 24 losses (25 points total).

Conclusion:
The solo q needs a different MMR than when running as a team MMR or 2-3 premade MMR.

There is no reasonable explanation why the number of losses should yet again go to a full on loosing streak. This is exactly what was happening in the Christmas leaderboards and often being paired up with teams or indivuals expecting to carry them.

It really sucks the fun out of the game having long lose streaks – there does need to be a streak buster and faster adjustment of MMR against if you are playing in a 2 man / 3 man / 4 man or as a solo.
