I remember the time when karma didn’t even come in jugs and had to be farmed by actually doing events in Orr.
By moving the signet of Beastmaster you’d destroy most of ranger burst builds which rely heavily on the signet of the hunt and the signet of the wild.
Direct quote from the Balance preview topic.
Further down the Road
- Runes/Sigils are also something the balance team wants to improve. We’d like to see cooler effects on some of the sets, so we’ll be working towards that. They also lead to a lot of build diversity, so we want more sets to be stronger so that it gives you guys more options in your builds.
So yes sigils/runes will see changes but when is a different matter.
The amount of karma after they introduced the jugs, vials, drips, drops and God knows how many others was just too much. Karma gained from these made acquiring temple armors/obsidian shards/orrian boxes very trivial.
It will only remember the latest step which in this case is the mutation between lvl 75 item and lvl 79 item.
So you’ll just have to cough up the money or dungeon tokens to get a new lvl 80 item for exotic stats.
I’ve been hunting a fractal warhorn for god knows how long. All I seem to get from FotM sre skins that I can’t use on my ranger.
Yes it is possible. Friend of mine made a bersekers warhammer and carrion warhammer so he could get the berserkers stats with the darker skin of condition dmg ascended weapons.
Just because some people don’t enjoy content like this it doesn’t mean it’s lackluster. I for one am exited about this update because:
A: I love doing dungeons, I run multiple paths every day because I enjoy it.
B: Twilight Arbor has been my favourite dungeon ever since launch, I’ve done it hundreds of times yet I still want to do it again.
C: Scarlet is a good villain in my opinion. I like her twisted mentality and quirky humour.
D: Aetherblades and Molten alliance mobs are a nice change from your average dungeon mobs because you might actually need some extra condition removal or stunbreakers against them.
Also do note that so far PvE players get content every two weeks whereas sPvP and WvW players get shafted and end up getting pretty much nothing compared to the PvE crowd.
Trapper with wolf/krytan hound. Also awesome at Skyhammer, just pop the traps on the teleporter and throw some new ones immediately after someone comes trough for a nice condi bomb. Wolf is also awesome at the Skyhammer cannon.
Especially annoying when it happens in SM. >_>
Even when being the first one in there and bashing the Lord and sitting the whole time in the ring.
First people complain that they get too much content and now they complain that they get too little.
Doesn’t matter. A good commander will find a place for everyone during the event.
When was the last time the balance team made any sense?
But about sic’em, it won’t help us one bit. 3-4 second reveal is nothing for a thief they just end up using few dodges and then CnD off our pet again and go on about their business as usual. And the 40 second CD just makes it even more useless.
Ranger has crit dmg in prec tree, so going GC he has 30% more crit dmg than warr.
Also, tooltips lie :p
Except warriors have traits that increase crit dmg.
Standard warrior dungeon build is pretty much 30/0/0/10/30 and with proper traits it will have about 130-140 critical dmg with the axe.
Pretty sure you need dragons breath bun activated (+200 power on kill for 30s) to get 4k attack, unless some other profession is buffing your stats.
This build with 25 bloodlust stacks and every possible ascended accessory and an ascended weapon can reach +4k attack and 2,9k power.
You can also see the foods/consumables being used in the calculator.
My ranger. Main since headstart with well over 2k hours played. And I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.
Not glassy enough needs more crit damage.
I’ve calculated it with exotic trinkets, with ascended gear + food its about 114% crit dmg,I think thats plenty.
Here’s what a full ascended berserker set with food/consumables can reach in terms of power/crit chance/crit dmg.

Is there a cap on crit damage at 100%? Always wondered if I was wasting it by going higher.
Yes, there is a cap, on both critical chance and critical damage. So going over 100% is wasting your stats.
Critical damage doesn’t have a max cap. Only critical chance does.
You can also avoid the fear completely now. If you time your dodge you can evade it and just keep fighting.
Before if you dodged the fear would be reapplied every few seconds regardless, but now it’s pretty easy to avoid!
You could actually dodge the fear before. If you stood behind tequila the fear ticked 3 times in few second intervals. Dodge the first 2 then use a weapon/utility dodge skill.
I’m fairly certain she’s not Caithe. Sure the resemblance is undeniable but why would the image be named 7bec610-01_TA_NextHero_EN.jpg if she was our old friend?
And the fact that she is wearing the Twilight Arbor light armor top makes me think she’s a new character to join forces with Rox and Braham.
You can always invite an offline player to your party. Then you’ll get to use party chat. And you’ll even get a funny message when you try to say something.
ooo we get to use party chat even if the invited to party offline player does not accept the party invite?
Yes.
I tend to do it whenever I just want to preview armors/weapons without going to the mists.

Next update seems to be focused on Sylvari/Twilight Arbor based on the release page image. (check the image link)

Fractal relics = fractals obviously
Guild Commendations = Guild Mission, can be used to buy guild weapons/banners some vanity stuff and ascended items.
Rest are dungeon tokens which are acquired by doing the respective dungeon.
Well we have spirits/traps and lots of soft/hard CC trough weapon/utility skills and pets. Even though pets can be pretty gimmicky at times they still provide the a very wide range of utility/support.
Rangers are easy to pick up and play but hardest to master and reach the same level of group support/control/dps. Right now rangers are in a rather good place when it comes to PvE/WvW/sPvP but most people don’t realize it and insist on sticking to the old bear/bow ranger prejudice.
But mostly play the class that you enjoy the most and find people who have the same ideals. I’ve never been kicked out of a dungeon for being a ranger (or any other reason) mainly because I run with guildies/friends.
Because they had some major technical issues yesterday and are preparing to launch the update today. And then doing the standard bug fixing tomorrow.
In fairly certain that they’ll have their hands full for the next few days.
This is the build that I run atm.
(The calculator doesn’t have ascended weapon stats so the power/attack will be lower there since I use Kudzu with zerker stats in my build)
Purely offensive one trick pony so if i fail to kill my target with the first few long range shots and rapid fire I usually need to either hightail it out of there with the GS or survive long enough to charge the Signet of the Hunt and try to use Maul for a big hit.
Thank you for the video!
I think I’m going to go ahead and craft the Frenzy. :P
Luckily the precursor is cheap.
There was no mention of a time frame so I’m guessing they will be permanent.
Frenzy got updated last patch to include a unique projectile, namely a fish. It is a little underwhelming and hard to see, but at least they gave that.
Other than improving that projectile a little, I’d say my Frenzy is fairly well polished now.
Would you mind posting few screenies of how it looks?
I’m close to finishing my 2 universal gifts and haven’t really decided which legendary to get. I really love the way it looks but the lack of effects is a little let down.
GS works well with power/crit builds and in zerg surfing where you just want to tag lots of stuff and stay alive.
Eventhough the autoattack chain has a very low dmg coefficient it has a 1 sec evasion as the third part of the chain which makes it good for staying alive in WvW when lag takes over and prevents using your other skills.
Also the GS #2 Maul has the highest attack dmg available to the ranger and can reach whopping +20k hits with a proper build and preparations.
I’ll Post my build once I get home but I get around 2900 power and 118% crit dmg with that set. Got some screenies in the other zerker ranger thread below this one.
actually power cap is 2752 for ranger… and you must build it all pow/tough/vit ang get a really low damage due to low crit chance and low crit damage… how did you get 2900 power? Or do you mean 2900 attack?
2900 power with bloodlust stacks and appropriate consumables. I’ll post the build and screenies when I get home in a few hours.

Holy necropost Batman!
Point blank shot can be devastating also if buffed. Managed to do a 11k hit with it on an upleveled mesmer. Can post the screenie when I get home.
Sylvari are supposed to be a bit smaller and slimmer compared to an average human.
Yeah I’ve tried it but just can’t get the feel for sword/axe. Ans GS is invaluable if things don’t go as planned and I need to hightail it out of there.
And if i really want to instagib someone I’ll use the GS Maul with the same buffs and get +15k hits.
And since you wanted an over 12k hit here’s an almost 13k hit on an upleveled ele. Poor thing downed on the first shot.
Hehe, skin color affecting the armor colors is one of the things what I absolutely love about the Sylvari.
Here’s the latest incarnation of my beloved ranger. I’ve used about 6 or 7 makeover kits on her by now. ^~^

Based on this build. Hits like a truck at 1500 range.
Please send me a screenshot of you hitting an enemy player for 12k damage with a longbow autoattack and I will post a video of me eating both my shoes. My valk thief with full zerker trinkets and D/D stealth traits with 110% crit damage hits for 12k on a backstab. I highly doubt a longbow autoattack comes even close.
11,441 dmg on a up leveled engineer fighting some harpys. Before that the 9k hit was on a lvl 80 enigneer. (yellow underline shows where i had my signet of the hunt active on)
Full berserker armor and trinkets with scholar runes and 30/30/0/10/0 build gives me 2,900 power and 4,034 attack when having max bloodlust stacks and using Butternut Squash soup and sharpening stones.
If everything goes as planned my first arrow will have a +110% dmg buff (10% from steady focus, 5% from eagle eye, 10% from Hunter’s Tactics, 10% from Frost Spirit, 50% from Signet of the Hunt and 25% from the Signet of the Wild)
(Edit: Forgot to add the Signet of the Wild)

Last time there were leaked patch notes they turned out to be spot on even with all the speculation about some people just trying to troll.
And in this case they will most likely be the real deal also because rangers get shafted again.
I agree with the OP, they should make world bosses, like Maw, have more hp… is kinda lame to kill this big bad guy in like 15 seconds, give it more hp or make it a fight with phases, like 75% spawn some champs, 50% transform into something, 25% more champs then die, it would give those events some of its flavour back and would differenciate them from regular champ mobs
And further drive people away from them as it won’t be as easy to get the guaranteed loots.
With the changes to hunters shot to grant invisibility my survival has gone way up since I can go invisible the swap to GS and swoop away, if I start getting ranged dmg I can use GS #4 to block.everything for few seconds and then swoop away again.

Berserker LB/GS ranger are glorious fun in WvW roaming or picking off stragglers in zergs. I can do 6-12k hits on the longbow auto attack ranging from tanky guardians to squishy upleveled folks.
With roughly 120% crit dmg and traited signets I can deal massive damage on the first 3-4 shots and most often ending the fight there. Sure it’s a high risk vs reward build but when you manage to pull it off it’s all the more satisfying.
All duration stacking boons(Aegis, Fury, protection, Regeneration, Retaliation, Swiftness, and Vigor) and conditions(Blind, Burning, Chilled, Cripple, immobilze(now stacks duration), and Poison) now stack to a maximum of 5 times.
5 Stacks of Poison/Blind.
You didn’t quite get what that means.
It means that their duration stacks maximum of 5 times not intensity.
Last time patch notes leaked they turned out to be spot on.
And as for the maul buff. It makes me a very happy power ranger.
