It’s not important if you didn’t change ranks, it’s only important you tried to not gain rating on purpose to avoid silver league. A server should always fight, no matter the odds. That’s courage, that’s purpose, that’s valour.

When asked hypothetically what you thought of having hard fights, Henge of Denravi said “No, we’d like something easy for 7 weeks please” and that’s the crutch of it. It’s what you said that I hold against you for those 7 weeks. The server that only wants easy fights.

When Tossed Fish said somethin to the effect that you were on PvE vacation for that week, I thought “No, what you’re choosing is a 7 week long PvE vacation over WvW”. So heart broken. =(

I agree that a server should always fight, no matter what, and that’s precisely what myself and large part of our community was doing those past few weeks before the leagues. Fighting and learning from the higher tiers. That improvement in tactics certainly did not come overnight. Sure, some people decided to tank so as not to get into silver, but casting an entire server with a blanket statement is as good as labeling an entire server as hooligans just after one guy dances on your corpse. Many fought, regardless of being outmanned by a higher tier server, and there was even a guild set up on HoD, dedicated in pushing us to silver.

If you ask me, NSP deserves that spot in silver more than us. The few times we’ve gone up against them in the past always ended up in losses. We weren’t sure of our strength vs SF and DH too. That’s where HoD really hovers in terms of population and overall skill.

I definitely think you guys stand a good chance. SF may have huge primetime zergs, but they have gaping holes in their coverage. From what I’d seen last week, you definitely have a better spread around the clock. If you use that knowledge to your advantage, you will have the upperhand against them. Good luck!

Asian guild? This is bronze league, never heard of one of those.

There are actually about 3 and a half asian guilds on HoD. We tend to do fairly well in those hours because we probably have the largest asian community in bronze. If you were wondering, they aren’t recent transfers, most of those guys have been around since the launch.

Why do we have two threads dedicated to our matchup? Double the chance for more mama jokes?

I’m a commander from the SEA timezone. There is a healthy community from this timezone for those who’d like to take part, and you may contact myself or another SEA commander to find out more about WvW during these hours.

Hi goku, I’m also from Singapore and currently leading a 300member guild on Henge of Denravi that is international, with almost half from Singapore. There are two other HK guilds on this server, and we get along great with them.

Population here would be smaller than higher tiers, but it is also a welcoming and stable community, most of whom braved the odds during HoD’s most infamous fall from top spot last year. HoD’s WvW community has since rebuilt itself and prides itself with strategies to burst through enemy zergs, especially when we are outmanned (which is common here). If you want a challenge, and to prove your guild’s might against larger groups, here is the place.

The Singaporeans themselves have a dedicated team at our timeslot (evenings), led by three HoD commanders who have transferred back after studying with some of the best guilds in tier2. We would be more than glad to have people to work with.

At this point with how broken wvw has become, anet should seriously think about releasing a Factions expansion, and turn all servers into two equal opposing teams, scrubbing out all current rank systems in the process. Problem solved.

Appreciate CD saluting to some of us on HoD. I died in a tower overrun with about 30 CDs, 3alpha golems and 2omegas. One person stopped to salute my corpse, and it softened the blow.

Join us on the Henge of Denravi! We’ve taken the tumble like you guys, but have since progressed slowly but steadily to rank 18. We’ve dedicated recent weeks to training our guilds and pugs to group strategy, since gaining a couple of higher tier commanders, some of whom were on hod at the start. If you come now, you could be a part of those classes, and a movement to better ourselves as a server and a community.

If you’re sourcing for a guild, there are a couple of really good wvw oriented guilds here. My own guild, the Charter Vanguard [CV] is more an all rounder, and our community of 300 is international. 2nd plug for HoD

We have an active website at www.hengeofdenravi.com that has been around since launch. Sometimes our amicable opponents pop in to say hi as well. We also have a TS3 server. our members love a good fight. Most have stayed on through the hard fall from T1 to T8, including a number of fresher guild transfers. We hover between T6-7 these days, and could certainly use another commander on the field.

Try Henge of Denravi if you’re open to moving to a NA server. We have euros too – assuming you are from there. Small scale fights are rampant here.

Henge of Denravi welcomes you into our community if you so choose. We have a TS3 server, have been hovering between T6-7, and have plenty of room to grow. Because of our smaller community, people tend to recognize each other on the go, and drama is low. We’ve had a few recent transfers in who’ve expressed their satisfaction with the community and opportunity for smaller scale fights. Zergs are a whole lot smaller at this tier, so a five man team can be incredibly successful, not to mention anything larger.

Just out of curiosity HoD, are your forums moderated as far as foul language goes? I got nothing against the occasional curse word, but a steady stream that’s accepted by the community is non productive, and drives away those that don’t accept it. I’m interested now, after reading this post because the lag is just crazy when zergs collide in T1. Maybe this yak slapping gypsy can find a good home.

There isn’t a lot of foul language on the forums or in the wvw maps. Any arguments on the forum gets moved to a private area so it doesn’t spam or offend. You can take a look around the forums to see the typical chat that goes on there. Most of the community is friendly and we love to share a good joke. You’re most welcome to join us.

Agree +1. I believe strongly in defense and in the same breath, I’m often one of the poorest. Upgrading, refreshing siege and keep guard duty are all essential parts of success in wvw and yet the rewards are few to none. I’d like to see more mechanics that encourage such duties, and reward those who will stay behind.

They should use 8-12 man teams like gw1

Server transfers should’ve cost money from day 1. The only way to truly balance out the populations is to go back to the root of the problem. Create new servers, and abandon the old mess. Have everyone reselect their server of choice, paid transfers in effect the moment of selection, and have wvw start afresh.

Hi guys, with the recent cheaper prices for gem transfers (due to population increases) I am considering a move to another server. I really want to join the “least zergiest”place. I don’t mind whether the server is winning or losing, Id actually prefer losing, but I just want to play somewhere where I can have a considerable contribution to the server I play for and not run into 50+ player zergs 24hour a day. But I have been playing in Tier 1 since last year so I don’t really know where to go. Can anyone give me intel or suggestions? Would I be right in assuming the lower ranked, the less “zergy”?

Speaking from HoD in t8 (before the change in server matchups) we are definitely less zergy than the higher tiers. You tend to find 3-5man roaming groups pretty often – sometimes you find solo cappers. There is also little to no fighting in the jump puzzles. I personally really enjoyed that somewhat ‘relaxing’ aspect in t8, where you can run from one end of the map to the other alone without getting flattened by 50 men… Hopefully anet sorts out the uneven matchups soon so we can go back to that. FC and ET were the other two in t8. Maybe you’d like to check them out too.

Seems like weekdays prove a better balance for all three servers. Now is when it gets fun! Go go HoD!

I heard a Rumor that in the sometime near future anet is going to merge some servers. IDK if HoD is on that list or not.

I don’t mind a merger. Sometimes I really feel we’re stretched thin. Can’t be on all places on the map at one time. More people will def be appreciated.

<3 HoD community. At a point in time I assumed every server community was as tightly knit as ours, till recently when a couple of commanders and players moved in for good after scouting a few other servers, swearing that HoD has about the best PvE and WvW communites they’ve seen – thus the decision to stay. There aren’t usually any arguments between commanders or members, which makes wvwing rather pleasant. And guilds often work together for PvE challenges, jps, as well as other events.

I believe I was one of the people who mentioned that ET towers/keeps weren’t upgraded, thus the easy caps for enemy teams, because one of your guys mentioned the server having a low morale. That did not mean we would always hit your stuff “because it’s easy”. It was meant to be constructive advise to you guys on how to prevent your stuff being capped too easily. I remember at least once a huge group from HoD specifically avoided your un-upgraded Bay keep and went for fortified/reinforced FC BL instead because they were the stronger enemy then.

At least two of our commanders were approached by FC to form an alliance to double team ET while they were at their lowest, which we promptly refused in the name of fairplay. Obviously there are some shady deals going on in this tier is all I’m saying. Getting double teamed is no fun. Some are still fighting but many are just boycotting till this blows over and the fights (in all borderlands) are balanced again.

I know there was one but both myself and a guildie came on to apologise. You’re the first person from ET who’ve frankly explained the situation. So now we know. Pity there’s nothing we can do about it too. I’ve had no quarrel with ET since day 1, since both our servers were taking that long fall from t1.

regarding ET upgrading stuff: after 3 long months of SF, alot kinda got into the mindset of “why bother, it will be taken anyway.” and now it’s set into habit. a habit we will have to break. i’ve been doing my part upgrading and prepping siege (in fact i woke up early this morning to do as many of the upgrades on hills as i could, due to my error last night) and i’ve been encouraging others to do the same

HoD has been there more times than I can count on our spiral from T1 to T8. There was a time we didn’t even have enough morale/manpower to cap one single tower in our own borderlands. I believe we bumped into ET more than once on this devastating journey. Doesn’t mean at any point that you or anyone should ever give up though. Keep plugging at it, spend time training your guildies/server mates in defensive/offensive strategy, and you’ll get there in no time

Its clear there is something going on here… We are so far behind yet FC or HoD refuse to make an aggressive move on each other. Rather, they are just staying neck and neck attacking our(Eradon Terrace) BL and EB territory and pushing us further behind.

The only explanation must either be one of two things:
1. FC and HoD are afraid to anger each other and not want to make a decisive lead
OR
2. ET is far more powerful than either and so they have made a joint venture to suppress ET together.

Don’t think it’s intentional but Ive noticed ET doesn’t upgrade it’s keeps/towers much, so people would gravitate towards the easier cap. Must be hard for those who are spending money to upgrade when others aren’t defending, I’ve definitely been in that position. But I will say ET has some really excellent offensive players, esp their guardians. They just tear right through us. FC also has some really good stacking formations. There’s something for us to learn from each of your servers, so I’m glad to be here

Also big shout out to NSP for that engaging battle at HoD’s bay keep. Sure kept us back for long with those 8 ballistas! We deserved it for taking your upgraded garrison I guess. :P It was a fun fight, hope to have more of those in time to come.

The community in Henge of Denravi is pretty lighthearted and closely knit. In fact any server in T7 (ie. Northern Shiverpeaks and Gate of Madness) is pretty much the same way. There are people who’ll be hardcore about WvW and PvE, but majority are casual. HoD uses Vent and Mumble for WvW, and we don’t strategize in secret on the forums, which is probably a bad idea lol, but it’s much friendlier that way. Many of the guilds on HoD work together on bounties, and other events. And it helps we’re not superly large so we keep bumping into the same ole’ regulars both in PvE and WvW. Just like home really.

Basically, this will be a meet-and-greet session open to anyone who has a question, or who would like to experience the community of HoD. Simple door gifts will be given to early birds as a “thank you” for your interest.

Weird when tags are a higher priority than the toons themselves. Oft I see just tags running around till the toons eventually appear. But I guess it’s for practical purposes. Nonetheless, yes I agree with the OP. The tags are way too long.
