Well, I don’t see you or anyone else here offering an alternative solution. We’ve got a bunch of EU folks in CV who moved with us from GW1, or transferred from EU to NA servers due to dislike of the community. Not to mention the activity overlaps from SEA and early morning NA.

There is a “no cussing” rule for the guild chat and for anything a bit more controversial, we have a special section on the forum for such discussions so it will be kept away from the main crowd. Half the guild is in NA, the other half is in SEA, so we have people online throughout the day, no hour is a weird hour for us. We’re excited about PoF too, especially since we have many members from GW1 and have been in the Crystal Desert since then. We’re beginner friendly so anything you need help with or to get caught up on, we might be able to lend a hand.

Let me try to address each question:

“What do u mean with rp stories from your discord bieng parallel and crosing over?”
I meant there are two ongoing stories, one of them with 2 players, the other with 5. Each player controls 1 character or a handful, depending on how many they can handle. Beginners should probably just control 1. Sometimes the 2 characters from the first RP meet up with the second RP, and then they split off again, depending on what happens in the story.

We used to do in-game role play, but we’ve been trying out Discord recently. When it’s on Discord, we tend to type in paragraphs, like a novel style – An Example:

“I wonder what’s going on” Sigrun mused, too focused on the crowd to realize Arben was talking to her.

Two Vanguard soldiers stopped by Sigrun. One of them had a concussion of some kind, his hair matted with blood, looking a little disoriented. The other had an arm under is shoulder, bringing him back to the city. “An attack… the separatists…” said the Vanguard between breaths.

So in this case, one person is playing Sigrun, one is playing Arben, and the Vanguard can be used by anyone for story purposes.

“those weekly rp events are they mandatory?”
No they are not. You’re welcome to not participate, or watch as a spectator, or come in just for a bit, like a one episode thing, or stay for the long run. It’s all up to you and what you’re comfortable with. We’re most glad to guide you in what you need to catch up with the plot. Most people who’re coming in want to spend 1 or 2 episodes spectating first, that’s completely reasonable.

Throw in an application if you’d like to try it out. Will be easier to explain in person than on a recruitment forum like this. At the worst case if you don’t like the role play, you can just operate as a regular member :P

The Charter Vanguard has been having role play in one form or another since its inception. We’re currently running twice a week RP parallel stories on Discord chat that occasionally cross over. We find the format better than in-game RP because we can collect the log of exactly what went on per episode then go back and refer later.

Hey Tyrannos, the Charter Vanguard has 2 casual raid groups being set up a week. We’re an international guild with half in north america/canada timezones and the other half in south east asia timezones. I’m thinking you might fit perfectly with our SEA crew.

The good news is that both raid groups are in SEA timezone. Guild missions are also in SEA (and NA as well), but they aren’t compulsory.

We have a voice chat on discord, a website, forum and facebook page. You’re welcome to join all of them, though like the missions, none are compulsory.

We have about 250-300 members, and can be chatty. We don’t have a Japanese in the guild, but I can imagine you will be well loved, especially if you’re into anime (lots of anime lovers here).

We have Discord, but joining is not compulsory, and besides, our voice chat tends not to be that noisy. Lots of shy people in our guild too. No obligations concerning that.

We have an international crowd, the largest two groups being American and Singaporean, and peppered in between the EU and Oceania. There’s bound to be a bunch of people online at any time you might log in.

We’re beginner friendly, and don’t believe in elitist attitude. There are two groups doing raids atm. One of them regular, the other one from time to time. They’d be pleased to teach if you’re interested.

We like real life chat, and sometimes hold what we call “buddy circles” where we introduce ourselves for our real lives – because it is the gamer that makes the game, not the other way around.

Not a problem. GW2 turned multi-server few years back, so it’s now instanced based instead of server based. The only thing that remains segregated is WvW. So unless you’re a WvW enthusiast, you won’t really feel the difference.

The Charter Vanguard is a 200-300 member guild, we have 2 scheduled missions slots a week; Saturday morning and evening, most of our members are friendly so you might be able to grab a bunch to do quests together, and we have a maxed guild hall with jumping puzzles and whatnot (ask for a tour if you’d like to see the place in full). Hey Lid, the Charter Vanguard is a casual and friendly guild – most of our members are willing to teach if you need any guidance. We have Discord, Facebook and forums if posting is your thing, and we’ve been around since the GW1 days. We’re on Henge of Denravi, but like you’ve said, servers don’t really matter if you’re not wvwing. Many of us are married, some have little ones, so we all know how it is to have to balance family + gaming. We’re 200-300 member guild, I guess you can call us ‘large-ish’, but half of us are in NA and the other half is SEA, so our activity is spread out over 24hrs a day with about 10-20 online at most times.

The Charter Vanguard might be the place for you. We’ve survived since 2004 (never gone inactive once) solely on the basis that we’ve had relatively low drama in the guild – or the ability to handle guild crisis’ at least We like PvE (as well as a dabble of WvW and PvP) and aren’t competitive, rather we’re more beginner friendly.

Being international, we have several UK members, although most of our community are either in NA or SEA, but late EU tends to meet up with prime SEA and early morning NA, so it’s been ok for our EU members.

We’re not on Tarnished Coast, but it doesn’t matter if you don’t WvW. Our guild is on Henge of Denravi. We also do RP, and are starting a brand new role play this Wednesday if you’d like to join.

Forged in 2004, just before the launch of Guild Wars 1, [CV] has had a long storied history. First as a primarily RP guild, then as a mostly PVX/community guild. Several of our members have been around for years, and been through thick and thin together.

We’re currently on the Henge of Denravi server, have Discord, a website, a Facebook page, a forum, and a Telegram chat that we use regularly.

Our members often do fractals, raids, wvw (we do twice a week organized WvW), guild missions (twice a week organized GM) and also role play. But we do everything with a casual, never-leave-a-brother-behind attitude, which is especially helpful if you’re a newcomer to the game and need guidance. We’ll be glad to show you around.

We have the Lost Precipice Hall with full upgrades, and a really beautiful decor with jumping puzzles scattered throughout the hall.

Coming into this discussion late, but you might be interested to look at T4 ie. HoD, NSP and EBay. We have some SEA/OCX, but aren’t too heavily stacked. The communities are friendly and casual, not very PPT oriented (if that’s what you’re looking for). Coming from SEA myself, and also on HoD (we have 3 main SEA guilds and 2 OCX), I’ve been here since the betas, love the community, and wouldn’t ever think of moving. Beyond the practices of member and officer ceremonies, CV takes further steps into the realm of role-play, being one of the first, or only guilds on GW1 to create a 2-season machinima video series based on a beloved guild RP. People talk about the queues on HoD like they are inescapable, yet I personally haven’t experienced more than one queue, and it wasn’t that long either. Ironically CD’s been deriding us for having no coverage vs theirs. Going by your measure, if we have queues, you guys probably have double that. :p

Hi Grace, the Charter Vanguard on HoD does a bit of everything. We’re a 360+ International member guild with an almost 10year history. Many of the members actually “grew up” with CV. There are many families, couples, singles and relatives on here. We’re beginner-friendly and love to chat on the GC just about anything. CD is the only free transfer server with this coverage. In fact we got a couple of HoD sea guilds leaving them absolutely no coverage at all. They are strictly an NA server with a bandwagon warning label.

I don’t suppose you realise that by putting another server down in order to prop yours up, you’re just proving the negative aspects of your server culture that’s been outlined by some of the posters here.

And to correct your wrong perception Kraven; I lead an SEA guild – there are two other asian guilds here that I know of, one considering to transfer in, and maybe more that I don’t know of atm. But those in the Asian timezone aren’t pulling the weight alone. The entire server has come together, both new and old guilds, logging on at odd hours of the day to lend a hand in the spreading of coverage. It has been a truly bonding experience, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying myself both off and during SEA primetime.

I think you’re wrong. Guilds/individuals have approached us on their own accord. We get one or two good guilds over, and others start entertaining the idea of coming. I personally won’t think about pestering guilds from lower tiers to move over, we’ve been there and know how it feels for others to dig thru an already dwindling crowd. I know many of the HoD vets share my viewpoint.

I am glad that [CV] is still operating. But, I heard from a person that a portion of [CV]’s SEA transferred to SOS. So, I am curious on how many SEA in [CV] still remain in HOD. With that, it also reflect how many SEA are actually in HOD.

I do understand that HOD has a number of tw and hk but they seems lost and lonely, a few joined [TIME] and they will be transferring to CD.

Well, I do want you guys to come over but if you insist to stay in HOD, that’s fine. I have quite a number of mails and whispers from interested individuals coming over to CD, some are from HOD’s individuals.

The handful that transferred weren’t original CV anyway. We were housing them when SD broke down. Some SD stayed in CV, and are still here today.

Glad that you are getting transfers, we’re getting some ourselves… Ironically I hear a couple of guilds that are coming here are from CD. If some of ours are going over, it sounds like both our servers will be exchanging players. Should be interesting. :p

You either fall down when your guilds leave or become thick hard like NSP and survive whatever happen.

One bronze win doesn’t take away from the many arduous months we’d fought outnumbered and fallen from #1 spot to the bottom of NA. Survival and endurance is something we’d taught ourselves a long time ago. Don’t think that NSP is the only server that knows how that feels like.

HoD deserves to be excited about PPT this week since everyone’s worked ultra hard to prove to ourselves that a win against CD and NSP is possible. After all, it’s been a long time since HoD scored a win over NSP, and winning CD has had only been a pipe dream for the longest time. Ofc we know that some of the stronger servers in Silver League might/will trample over us, it’s not like that hasn’t happened before. Just a few months ago, CD was doing just that. But at least we know now where we stand, and that we have a fighting chance at least among some of the Silver League servers.

Get your facts right. There were murmurings about tanking and a handful did decide to stay in PvE, but the majority of HoD was still in WvW, fighting an uphill battle against servers 8ranks above them. You can’t keep HoD out of WvW, it’s a large part of why some of us still play this game. I was there in the last few weeks leading up to the league season, and can honestly say our population at the time did not drop much. It’s only when the leagues started that our PvErs came out to get their metas done, and that really appeared to boost our crowd.

GoM and FC neck and neck in the race for second! I don’t know who I should cheer for more, both have shown great fighting spirit and skills on the battlefront. I think you both equally deserve that spot!

Not sure how the other tier 8 servers are doing but this league has caused us (DR) to go from a low populated wvw server to a ghost town..

The leagues has lost every bronze server at least one guild into the silver and gold leagues, when it’s been repeatedly reported to Anet of population imbalance and they themselves have acknowledged it. Seems like any remedy they come up with only further damages the issue. If I were working there I would suggest hiring new minds for rethinking the balancing of servers.
