Every server taking a hit means the ranks will be the same, except with fewer people playing on each server. There’s no reason to believe that T1 loses 90% of its players, and T5 only loses 5%, and suddenly SoS is T1 material.

This is true for PvE but not for WWW.

Say that every server loses one fifth of their players.
Say SoR has 125% of the queues on reset night. If one fifth leaves, they still got a full queue.
Say TC has 100% of the queues on reset night. If one fifth leaves, they got only 80% of the map filled.

The difference is huge in WWW.

And this example is not so theoretically as it sounds. On TC, we usually have a queue on EB but nowhere else (except in prime times).

If you take out 20% of the players, you will probably still have a queue in EB but the other maps will be empty. We saw to what that leads three weeks ago, when others took all of TCBL whenever they wanted

That’s true. I still remember exactly who did what in SWG. And that’s years ago. And it’s especially tru in PvP communities, they are smaller.

10/25: SoR/BG/TC (Gold League Round 2)

For those interested, this is a virtual table for the tier 1 servers in Gold League.

It is assuming that all tier 2 servers will finish below tier 1 servers in every match up.

This is no disrespect intended to tier 2 servers, especially as coverage is a major factor in points scored.

Updated virtual table to help visualize how things are currently standing in Gold League.

I made the exact same table, for TC. Unless the T1 servers turn against each other (which they won’t) or one will implode (which won’t happen) TC’s place is already set in stone: 4th.
This season-system is very, very lame for TC.

And for the T1 servers… JQ gets 3 matches where they are guaranteed to get 5 points, where BG gets 2 and SoR only gets 1 guaranteed match.

Someone didn’t do they homework, that’s for sure!

The End of WvW

I agree, sadly. Pretty much everyone was like ‘why bother upgrading’, because with the WWW system, you actually WANT to loose your keeps, so you can take them back.

It’s really, really sad

Not to mention that their ‘solution’ for the looooong queues will make the queues even LONGER, cause more people will queue: people will have something to do while queueing, so less-devoted players will queue again. Instead of -say- making one/two/three copies of EB with your matchup servers when you got queues on all 4, noooooo, after one year of queues, the solution is to make a new map that doesn’t count at all! <facepalm>

But the worse about WWW is the same as it has always been: with 50 people in SEA time, you earn as much points than with 450 people in NA time: SEA players are 9 times more valuable for NA servers than NA players, due to the stobborness of the DEVs refusing to adjust the WWW points, based on the number of players. This achieves the EXACT OPPOSITE of what they always say, that each player has the same value.

I’m from SoS and yeah, seasons suck kitten I hated the way matchup were since they added the randomness to it cause it made really unbalanced matches but with season 1 we are stuck at the bottom of Gold League with only Magunma that we can really compete with for the next 6 weeks. If ascended wasn’t enough to completely turn me away from the game, this bullkitten is.

Yeah, whoever made up the Gold league matches wasn’t paying attention AT ALL. JQ is green all seven weeks, lol. And, yes, not to mention that as 6th placed server, you will play against a T1 server 5 out of 7 matches. IT’s like they WANT to stop your server from WWWing

It’s indeed… how to put this diplomatically… not very smart to make up a Schedule were we, on Tarnished Coast, are not green for SEVEN WHOLE WEEKS.

I don’t know who made up this Schedule nor who approved it, but I doubt they thought it through. 10 extra minutes of work would have prevented this, just 10.

I don’t want to insult anyone here, but as TCer playing against Maguuma & SoS now, I fear that the next 6 weeks are going to be hell for these servers.

These two servers are gonne get BUTCHERED when they got to play against a T1 server.

And against TWO T1 servers… I am lacking the words to describe what that will be like for them… Unless those T1 servers show mercy on them, they won’t even hold their own garrison in NA prime, me think.

I don’t think Bioware thought this league-thing trough, to be honest.

We are the nr1 NA server of all 24 servers, based on the current score. We got a higher score that anyone else, woot!

Crystal Desert put up a good fight, but we overtook them, yes we did!

Well, you know the DEVs don’t listen to regular players like you or me when they go weekly on their fancy voice chats (which, like… 1% of the players use?) or when they actually post ‘the DEVs want the same thing as players’ (which translate to: why listen to you, we already know what you want, you want the same as we do).

That seems to be their source of information: hardcore players such as voice chat users and themselves

And then they are surprised that so few people PvP…

Neither windowed mode nor eyefinity are exploits. There are legitimate uses for them, which is why the game itself supports these things. There’s really no programmable criteria to tell if they are being used in a exploitative manner.

Yes, there is, program the distance and LOS correctly and people with multiple displays no longer have an unfair advantage.

Because that what it is: having a different LOS than someone else is an unfair advantage and ANet should do something about it.

Sorry TC, no disrespect but you guys just don’t have the coverage to have a strong say in what should be a decent weekend battle amongst the other 2 servers.

We know, we know.

Well, sort of. We enjoy being the third party, like… when JQ & DB are fighting in out, run into the JQ zerg, so DB has an easier time. Or when DB is attacking JQ’s garrison, attack DB’s hills, so they got to stop the attack.

Wauw… it must have been since… since… since SOE DEVs posting in SWG forums that I have seen such a post from a DEV.

This statement is particular disturbing:

I guarantee you, anything that the vast majority of the players want, we (as players of our own game) also want

This statement seem to say ‘if the majority of the players want it, DEVs want it too, so why even bother asking the players,, we know what they want anyway’. Or in other words: ‘if the DEVs don’t want it, the players don’t want it’.

That is really wrong. DEVs are usually a) hard-core players and b) people that know the ins and outs of the game. That is NOT representative AT ALL of your player base. In fact, it’s REALLY REALLY REALLY a minority of your paying customers that are like DEVs.

One might argue that this is the mindset that kills most games: DEVs know it all.

Let’s hope your view on this issue is not representative for all DEVs.

I don’t quite understand about Karma boost and trade in. Do you have 95% karma boost on while buying the boxes?? They would refund your karma?

What you do is…

You buy all the boxes that you can with your Karma, say 1 million.
You open them all.
Most of them will have Karma storage items in them, in various types.
Then you take all your Karma boosts, ice cream, banners, booster, the whole works!
Then you use up all the Karma vials, you will recover… like… 800,000 Karma.

Then you do it all again: buy boxes, open them, open the Karma vials, this time leaving you with like… 640,000 Karma.
Then you do it all again, this time leaving you with like… 500,000 Karma.
Then you do it all again, this time leaving you with like… 400,000 Karma.
Then you do it all again, this time leaving you with like… 320,000 Karma.
And so on and so forth till you have less than 42k Karma (the price of a box)…

That way you will use up all your Karma, and convert it all to items that you can sell for gold.

about SM I will choose to hold it. It’s more valuable than holding towers or keeps, and it’s not just because of points. Its location makes it especially strategic, and the simple fact that the server holds SM may entice players to join Eternal Battlegrounds

I fully agree. It’s a sore point on TC for months: take SM or not. In my opinion, SM deserves to be defended with everything you got. The reason is not the points you get from it, but when you hold SM, you own the map: you can attack pretty much everything and no one can stage a big attack on your keep.

SM is the perfect place to have and hold.

How much of a stat gain do you actually nett after upgrading your backpiece from Exo to Asc? I can’t justify the gains enough to warrant forking the money out for an Ascended backpiece.

It was 8% on the rings, when we did the math back in the days.

BT has been stuck fighting the same servers for a long time, good on them for a change of scenery, sometimes its needed.

If the WvW opponents are indeed the main reasonthe timing of the move is very odd. With the WvW changes comming, the opponents will be more-or-less random.

Anyway, enjoy your T1 server.

DB isn’t bad either No spawn camping, no corpse dancing, usually no jumping puzzle trolling, no Roleplay-Doljak killing… It’s always nice to play against such servers, I wish all servers were like that!

This new system does not fix either one of the three main WvWvW problems:

a) thiefs still 2-shot kill you.
b) half of the WvW stuff does not give any WXP.
c) night-time players are worth more than regular-time-layers: 30 night-timers can undo all the effort of 150 day-day players, despite ANet saying that all players are worth the same.

Also, a random roll can be blatantly unfair. You do not need to guess to know what will happen when the 8th server plays against the 1st server. Really, you know in advance what will happen and that the 8th server will be p0wned, making alot of players want to quit WvW. Pitting the 1st server against the 8th is NOT a good idea.

As long as you didn’t solve point c) above and continue to punish servers that do not have a big asian crew, you will never be able to have a decent WvW ranking: 50 asian players give the server much, much more ranking than 50 NA players or 50 european players.

So, Arrow carts gets nerfed BIG time, 50% less damage to siege, but no point reset.

I do not understand how it is possible that ANet treats their customers like this. Really, I don’t. 50% damage nerf and no reset. 50% !!!

Where did you read that it will be up until the 16th? Everything I remember seeing said until Southsun goes live on the 14th.

On the official announcemnt when the bonfire was announced.

This is so messed up. ANet posted the wrong date and now WE are getting punished for it, cause we can never, ever finish it.

This is so unfair. It’s like they don’t care at all about their loyal players. I did EVERY quest in the story line, every single one of the quest and then they treat you like this.

But the thiefs cried and cried and cried so much that they didn’t do it.

They got the highest DPS, they got stealth, they got clones, they can transport a mile away, but according to ANEt they are not overpowered.

This goes out to all TC Commanders. Siege is very powerful right now. If you can’t siege up something after you take it then don’t bother even turning on your Commander tag. That is why we are getting obliterated right now.

We have indeed too many commanders that don’t siege up. Not even in keeps & towers. Most just run to the next place.

TC needs to learn to siege up. And they need to learn it fast.

Eventually we will learn. But old habits die hard, and harder on TC than on other servers, it seems.

So… first you’re gonne nerf the hell out of ACs, laughing at everyone that had a mastery in it, and then in the looooong run, you will fix WvW siege in general.

Out of pure curiosity… do the DEVs even play WvW ???

And to the person above me that counted the posters so nicely: this seems to be ANet’s way of doing things: when some people yell hard, they change stuff, totally disregarding other people. Thiefs being the best example: people yelled that thieves were OP, they planned a nerf. Then, people yelled that the nerf went to far, they didn’t nerf. Then, people yelled that the 3 to 4s wasn’t good, they changed it back.

They got ZERO direction in this game. It’s always the same, some people make alot of noise and BOOM, ANet changes stuff.

Who in their right mind posts ‘we will nerf ACs ASAP but only look at other siege in the comming months’. What kind of a communication is that? With all due respect to Devon and what he does, but isn’t there anyone there that actually cares about balances?

And the worse part is… ANet doesn’t do anything about the zoom. No fix. Not even saying they will fix it. Not even saying this is intended. Nothing. It seems to me that THAT is the biggest problem with ACs, not the damage or the range, but the shooting over walls and around corners. Instead of buffing and nerfing and changing and all that, FIX THE PROBLEM.

Good job TC taking your bay back………but i have one question…….how do you use an ac to hit lords room from outside north inner gate?……good thing everyone took screenshots of it.

I’m guessing (guessing, since I wasn’t there when TC did it) that TC did it the same way DB kills siege inside the Lord room : build an AC in front of the east inner gate of Bay. You can hit all of Lord’s Room with that, when you have the AC range mastery.

No need for 3 monitors or windowed mode, just need to play against a server that doesn’t check that gate when north inner is under attack.

You said you all took screenshots… well, if you really like sceenshots of people that outsmart you, here is a screenshot from OUR perspective! Pity that the green circles don’t show up in screenshots, but ok, surely you can see what is happening here. Try it out yourself. And don’t forget to take a lot of screenshots, lol!

No, ACs got abused before too. Anyone that plays in window mode was able to shoot over walls. Going back to the old AC won’t fix this.

1. We took Briar and built a treb to kill the arrow carts on the gate.
2. We built 2 rams to kill the gate.
3. A bazillion arrow carts were behind the gate and killed the rams.
4. We ranged the gates down with our ossum staves.
5. Gate goes down and we are greeted to so many red circle on the ground, I thought the Bay contracted an aggressive form of the herpres simplex virus.
6. We get through the herpes after applying some Valtrex (which was a push through the gate).
7. We built 5 trebs in the vale to hit the inner. I can only imagine a lot of TC pugs were using this as a good opportunity to get WXP by repairing the gates/walls.
8. After a long bore fest of this. The walls and gates were finally down. We then put two trebs on the south outer gate of Bay to treb down siege on the walls.
9. We built another treb over looking the dock to kill more siege on the inner.
10. We made a push to the south inner gate and found out that Valtrex does not work because there was an outbreak of an even more nasty herpes strain.
11. We slowly built our own counter arrow carts and proceeded at a snails pace to take down what we could.
12. After taking down all the siege that we could while pushing with our own arrow carts, we pushed in and took the bay.

And you preferred something like..
1. Build Golems.
2. Take Bay.
… do you?

What you described sounds like what a siege should be, to be honest.

looking to move to a server anywhere from a tier 5 to tier 7

Your guild will be the biggest WvW guild BY FAR in those tiers.

Even the T2 servers have very few WvW guilds that have 15 people online 24 hours a day.

If you go to any of these lower tiers, you will be bored to death pretty soon, I think.

First… arrow carts got both nerfed BIG TIME (removal of the warrior stun) and buffed in DPS. This seems to be very well thought through, if you ask me.

One of the biggest problems in WXP-WvW is/was the zerg balls. When you know where the enemie zerg is, you can become very, very lazy, you only got to defend in one place!

So when you want a more exciting WvW experience, you need to have some tools against zergs, tools to make sure zergs split up.

Arrow carts are perfect for that, because they hit 50 targets at once! It is much more efficient now to break your zerg up in 5 parts, each attacking a target. That requires defenders on 5 different places, instead of just in one place.

People that complain about the ACs are probably just zergling that want to curl up in a 80-man group, take a map and move on to the next map.

we were doing a guild raid with 25-30 people, going for garrison watergate and placed two superior rams. Not 10 seconds had passed and around 4 arrow carts started firing on us whilst we were at the door and everyone was just melting away we had to get back, and before we could get the gate to 50% the rams had melted rapidly

So you thought it was normal that you can take a Garrison with 2 rams?

Personally, I think that defending a keep should be easier than it was before: for me it’s perfectly normal that 4 people on defensive siege can kill 2 offensive sieges.

Mostly normal. 4 people on defensive seige could indeed do that pre-patch anyhow

But lets hypothetically say they couldn’t.

I think you’re basing your definition of “should” on realism rather than gameplay balance. If it’s possible to hold a garrison almost indefinitely against a vastly larger force, why should more than three or four people defend the tower against 45-50 when they’re better suited to standing around trebuchets at another objective?

With 40-50 people you can build more than 2 rams. Just saying.

Arrow Cart Mastery skill 3 bugged?

When you do not have the Arrow Cart Mastery, you got the following skills…

Fire
Damage(8x): 11,040

Fire Crippling Arrows
2 1/4s cripple
No damage shown on tooltip.

Fire Barbed Arrows
8 Bleeding (24s): 11,040 Damage
Damage (8x): 8280

With Arrow Cart Mastery level 3, you got the following skills…
Fire Distant Volley
No damage shown on tooltip.

Fire Staggering Arrows
4 1/4s cripple.
No damage shown on tooltip.

Fire Exsanguinaing Arrows
2 Bleeding (16s) 1,840 Damage.

I assume that someone forgot to show the damage in the tooltip and that the QA team didn’t see it. soit.

But the bleeding does show and it goes DOWN when you get the 3rd AC mastery skill, called ‘Increases Effectivenes sof Applied Conditions’ ?

How is this possible?

(also… on the Tooltips in the WvW panel, it doesn’t say how much damage the AC increase is)

If it was good enough to put your points in the first time, it’s certainly not bad enough that a point reset is something super critical to your build, no?

That argument is odd. You picked whatever was the best at that time. Now, new things are added and maybe there is a new ‘best thing’.

That being said, this whole WXP thing is very badly designed from the start. I won’t be surprised if they don’t reset the points.

This whole WXP was a good idea, but it’s badly implemented so far. Let’s hope it gets polished soon!

Why do you guys not charge out of your towers/keeps when you have number and momentum advantage?

Because it’s tricky. It only takes one smart mesmer to run in behind your back and all your siege is gone.

I don’t think build sites attribute to siege cap. Only finished siege counts afaik.

Seems like it. But that is… odd. Cause it means you can throw down 10 sites and then build all 10 of them, no?

That’s not right; the current combo time is 1.5 seconds (on armor less than 1900/16000 health, ie glass cannons, scale it appropriately with multipliers for your armor/health value):

  • Black Powder ~= 1k on crit
  • Steal ~= 5.5k on crit + condition on target
  • Heartseeker ~= 3.75k on crit + condition + >50% health; 6.6k on crit + condition + <50% health. (Puts you into stealth.)
  • Backstab ~= 8.5k on crit + condition + >50% health; 10.2k on crit + condition + <50% health.
  • Proc::Lightning Strike ~= 1.5k condition + >50% health; 1.8k condition + <50% health.
  • Total = 25,000 damage.

Let’s see if I understand this correct… according to you, thiefs can do 25,000 damage in 1.5 seconds.

And you think that this does not needs to be nerfed?

You think doing 25k damage in 1.5 seconds is normal??

Really???

This deserves a nerf. Plain and simple. A BIG nerf.

Also… anyone… feel free to show me a rotation where a warrior does 25k damage in 1.5 seconds.

I thought people would work out after a few months that everyone has different peak times. It really is childish and selfish to even suggest a system where one persons efforts are worth more than another simply because they don’t play in your peak times or have school/work.

That is exactly why the current system is so broken.

The efforts of 400 people in NA prime is totally wasted because of the efforts of 80 enemies on Oceanic prime.

That means that the effort of 1 person in Oceanic is worth the effort of 5 people in NA. How is that fair?

If every player is indeed worth the same, then the points should be divided by the number of people on the map. With the current system, Oceanic people are worth 5 times more than American players.
