CD’s KH guild surprised us in TC by hitting TCBL’s Garrison’s Watergate with a massive zerg and several Omega golems. Garrison fell before reinforcements could arrive. You guys almost took Hills too!
Yes, luckily we managed to kill the Omegas at Hills outer gate and could kick CD out of Hills after they breached inner.
Also… we do NOT like it when someone takes our garrison! Prepare to meet your doom tonighet <evil laugh>

Well it looks like IoJ is finally going to tier 3, its kinda of bitter sweet for me.
As TC WWW-er, I watched the IoJ & TC scores in the past weeks and this is NOT something that happened just because of the Wintersday event.
Our scores were getting closer and closer every week, this was comming. Trixx may have sped it up with two or three weeks, but it was comming anyway.
That being said, I expect TC to take a serious beating in tier 2, so we might be back in tier 3 fast

I don’t see this being a problem unless you are running a bot to gather mats for you. I just kill everything then harvest the area. So far it hasn’t failed me yet.
I am not a bot and I kill as few things as possible. I mine in combat too, outside Orr. It’s only in Orr that I get ruined stuff.

If TC really has 4 map queues BG will be outmanned on 2 to 3 maps every night.
At TC, we don’t have 4 queues every night, but it happens, yes. Mostly on resets and in weekends.
Personally, I am afraid that we have a) too many commanders that each do their own thing and b) too many people that don’t do supply runs. But we’ll see what happens in t2, the ranking system is desgned so that we need to loose by alot of points to loose ranking, so it’s hard to say how long we’ll last.

Currently there is a huge problem with one profession that is making the wvwvw to become a thiefvthiefvthief
I absolutely agree with this, unfortunatly. Two well played thiefs can easily win against six soso played other classes.
One can argue that that is the way it should be, because you got to play your thief well by pushing those three buttons at the right time, but I fully understand that getting killed in 2 seconds over and over again makes people leave WvWvW
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
it’s a player-driven economy.
How in the world do you expect anyone to answer this?
It’s not purely player-driven. Anet decides on the mechanism of gem prices. They say that it is driven by player demand and we believe them, but they didn’t say how it is driven by that demand.
You probably saw that the gem prices didn’t went up for Wintersday. Maybe they change the way? You don’t know. I don’t know. But saying that the players define the price is not true.
Also… even if the price is driven by players, one can try to guess certain things (like: if there are less players in two months, the prices will go down).
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
It is the flat tax that account for it.
You got to see it like this…
- When you convert 100g into gems, you only get 85g ‘worth of gems’: the sell fee is 15%. Even though you do not see it as a buy, the seller only gets 85g.
- Say the convertio was 1 gold = 100 gems.
- When you sell 8,500 gems, you should get 85g. But there again is a 15% fee, so you only get 72.25g.
=> if you buy gems for 100g and resell them immediatly, you only get 72.25 gold.
This means that the price of gems has to go up with 38% (72.25 to 100) before you make a profit reselling.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
im pretty sure less than 5% of the population has 9500gold. to burn. and if someone did and decided to spend it all on twilight then that person should have it. the end.
9,500 gold = 9,000 dollars.
Your 5% is waaaaay too high, try 0.5%.

This can be someone who has watched the market for 2 days, saw that the item doesn’t sell for 10g and decided to place his up for 8g.

If you wonder why others have 1000’s of gold and you have nothing it is most likely due to your own inability to see opportunity.
No, it is due to me being honest.
It’s okay. There are always cheaters in the game. You are one. You are now rich by using what Anet called an exploit. Congratulations. I hope you enjoy your 50 gold.
Anet posts about a cheat, you do it, you make 50 gold. That is cheating. It really is THAT simple.
Now, I understand that you have some last shred of decency left and that you won’t feel good about yourself when you call yourself a cheater. So, you call it something else. You call yourself an opportunist, even though you use something that Anet calls a cheat. That’s okay, self-delusion is important, it just means that you still have some sort of conscience left.
There is still hope for you!
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
Anet better ban these people for doing this…
They won’t.
You got to realise that extremely rich players are the players that are responsible for high prices: they got so much money, they don’t care about paying high prices.
And high prices means that more people buy gems with dollars, to convert gems into gold so that they can afford the high-proced items.
Bottom line: Anet makes more money when there are some extreem-rich players.

Arenanet seems to have real difficulty fixing exploits like this.
I want them to succeed, but reports to them, in the past, go into the “thanks for your report” category. Never to be heard from again.
There is no “call GM button/report exploit” capability.
Just don’t see things moving fast in the “we take our users reports seriously” category.
Yeah. I do not know what solution is best, but something needs to be done. I report them, under the scamming category like the DEV said, but I got a funny feeling that that doesn’t do alot: I can imagine that Anet checks chat logs and such when you report someone for scamming and that doesn’t exist in these cases.
I can only hope that Anet is aware of this problem and is fixing it. A little word from them would be nice
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
Erm which PRO guild are u talking about?Hopefully not ours, as we are all against hacking and exploiting.
Well, a FA mesmer from Echo did it again in the Bay keep in FA BL. He walked in through the east inner gate, made a portal, jumped out, made portal, 5 people portaled in (from different guilds: CL, LGD, eGO, Echo).
We wiped the few people that came in, but then the same mesmer just walked through the gate again. We wiped these cheater again.
In FA’s defence, the majority of the people didn’t take the portal in: there were 20 people outside ramming the gate who did not take the portal.
Those 20 were honest, they kept destroying the gate (and then killed us inside, we were only.
I hope that those 20 honest FAers reported the 5 cheaters too: maybe Anet would listen better to scamming reports when they come from people of the same server.

Did anyone saw people still exploiting this?
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
is there no way that you can have the coding in place so people can pick:
No culling
old culling
new culling
No. If it was possible to have no culling, then that solution would have been in long ago.
I think that the problem is that if you are with 200 people in a small area (each with their own armor and skills and pets and what not) than GW would have to sent that data about 200 people to all 200 people, 2-3-4 times per second.
I am not sure that this is the reason why there is culling, I never read a DEV explaining it, but as IT-person, my guess is that this is not as easy as it sounds.

Yeah, this was my reaction too: make the downed state in WWW the same for all classes.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
I really, really hope that one of the exploits that were fixed on the 16th, is the exploit where people can just jump into WWW towers & keeps that they don’t own.
This is becoming more and more common. First, it were only a handful of people that did this, but because people saw that this kind of blatant exploiting went unpunished -despite several reports- more and more people do it.
It has even come to a point where players from servers that never did it before, do it too I guess they think that this kind of exploit is ‘expected’ if you want to be competetive in WWW
Does anyone know if this exploit is now finally fixed?

Right now skill has almost no impact on the outcome of a battle, it’s all about numbers. If you put 10 skilled players up against 30 mediocre or even low skilled players the 30 will most likely still win
I can give you several examples where a team of 5 well-organised people hold their ground against 10-15-20 people.
One of those 5 people was me, and I am not THAT good
You can’t take a keep that’s defended by 15 mediocre people with 5 good players, that’s true, but you can certainly defend a keep 5 good versus 15 mediocre.

You need those mobs for the monthly…
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
There is aphase where you got to destroy broken turrets. If your group does NOT destroy broken turrets, but instead just kills the toy centaurs, they respawn over and over again.
You can get to 100/100 for the monthly in one single dungeon: as long as you do not destroy 18 turrets, they’ll keep comming.

For the second week, TC, CD & FA fight it out!
- Will TC win again?
- Will the ranking-impact be as small as last week?
- Will the new outbreak event make a difference?
- Will this be a nice thread, like the other weeks?
- Will the Dolyak gods punish FA for the Dolyak murders last week ?

As a TC player that fought for 3 weeks, I can say that YB are honest players. I didn’t see them exploit any of the knows WWW bugs, I never had any of them dance on my corpse nor did they ever camp the Jumping Puzzle (except one of their players, once, but that was quickly resolved).
If you are looking for honest players (and you do not like to play on Tarnished Coast, hehe), YB is certainly for you!

Oh and about exploits hiding a Mesmer inside a keep and than flipping it 5 minutes later should be considered an exploit too. I think Anet should change the functionality of portals so they dont work through walls/gates.
I am always the first to call out exploits, including the occasional person on my own server (albeit that rarely happens).
But I do not consider it an exploit when a mesmer hides in a tower, waits 5 minutes, creates a portal on a wall, jumps down and then creates the other side of the portal so that his friends can come in.
This is a normal use of the portal skill imho. Besides, I consider ‘mesmer sweeping’ after capturing something as part of the WWW fun!

Score update!
TC 236,493 +305
CD 173,216 +215
FA 168,901 +180
That gives the ranking (as per http://mos.millenium.org/matchups#NA)
TC 1,832,147 -9.123
CD 1,729,316 +5.202
FA 1,721,509 +3.898
Since the last in tier 2 is IoJ and they are winning 16 points and the first in tier 4 is YB and they are losing 43 points, it looks like there will be no changes in tier 3 next week.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
No. It’s 166 per side per map.
I know that this is the number that is quoted most often, but I seriously, SERIOUSLY doubt that number.
On TC, yesterday, all mapshad queues, but I am pretty sure that there were 166 TC players on CD BL that time.
I would like to hear the official version of the cap, because this 166 per side is very doubtful.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
Not shooting unarmed players as they participated in a peaceful event …. Everyone will have a view on this …. Each equally valid. But those members of your community who did this at a very publically advertised event should be questioned …. Particularly after they came into the thread to gloat about killing essentially unarmed players.
I AM sorry for those who are stuck with this now.
Yeah, you can’t blame FA as a whole for the actions of a few players.
All you can do it hit them hard, explain here on the forums why and hope that those few players understand that they are ruining it for everyone.
But if those few FAers keep camping JPs, keep ruining events, keep ALT-F4, keep dancing on corpses… it will continue to rub off on the whole server.
I hope they got the message this time. But judging by the posts on this forum, it looks like they didn’t get it.
They actually defend that they ruined an event. How anyone can do that is beyond my comprehension.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
Well, it’s official, FA now has zero points, no tower, no keep, no garrison, no camp. I guess they can’t complain it’s 2v1 anymore, cause it’s 2v0 !

As long as Anet doesn’t do anything about blatant market manipulation like this, it will happen more and more often that people do this and raise prices for everyone.
These traders (I suspect they also feed gold-selling sites) have alot of money, they can spend 1,000g if they make 200g out of it.
So far, Anet doesn’t stop this market manipulation, sometimes even denying that market manipulation exists. Maybe this is because Anet makes money from high prices too: insane high prices makes more people pay $$$ for gems (to turn into gold), which is Anet’s income.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
I ‘sell’ mine by turning alpha golems into omega goelms (that requires skillpoints) and then giving the blueprint back.
I charge 1g per skillpoint, which I consider a fair price, seeing how long it takes to farm a level at 80.
But I think that it is probably easier to get skillpoints on a new character than on a 80, so some may find 1g alot.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
So, from my understanding, speculation, and interpretation of what you’ve just said: none of the Wintersday craftable items will use current existing items, but instead will have specific Wintersday materials.
That is not speculation, that is plain wrong. No where in any of the statements was said that the recipies would ONLY use Wintersday items.
If you wanne make a point by exagerating (which is a very efficient way to make points) get the facts right. It’s more fun that way!

I guess what ANet wants me to do is sit in one zone for a few HOURS, grinding mobs and DE’s to get the XP. Don’t worry though, during the process I’ll have diminishing returns on all the loot I gain too. Grind-free game, my kitten
I am a casual player myself, but I do not have any problems whatsoever with this: I understand that this achievement is not for me. That’s okay, that’s the price I pay for being casual.

Since I was kind enough to explain it to Guardians on their mace skill Faithful strike, here is the formula for this trait.
40+((Level^2) x 0.18) + (Healing x 0.8)
so at 0 healing at level 80: 40 + 1152 = 1192
at 1500 healing at level 80: 40+1152+1200= 2192
I’m confused
1500 healing = 2192
1464 healing = 2363?(And before anyone asks, the food buff is an omnomberry bar, no healing power)
The 2192 is a typo from Jon, it’s 2392. 40 + 1152 + 1200= 2392, not 2192.

Playing the market is not the only viable way to make gold. Not even close.
You can grind all you want, but the only way to consitently make more than -say- 2 gold per hour is by playing the market.
Also this wouldn’t work. If you attempt to artificially increase prices without a change to supply, you’ll just get an oversupply of incomplete transactions.
You are a smart man. I am sure you already know the blatant market manipulation that goes on.
So, statements that manipulation ’wouldn’t work’ only reinforce my opinion that Anet wants prices to rise, rise so high that players don’t have a choice anymore and pay $$$ for gems, converting them into gold.
It’s okay. Selling gems is your business model. It’s normal that a company wants to make money. And rising prices are a way to do that. It is okay, really.
Just don’t tell people otherwise.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
They were bought out by one person in the second week of November, so there is only an extreem small supply.
Since some people need them for their legendary and it is totally impossibly to farm 250 doubloon yourself, this type of market manipulation pays off in the mid-term.
Especially since Anet doesn’t do anything against it.
From Anet’s point of view, high gold prices for these items are good, cause high prices cause people to buy more gems to turn them into gold. Unless too many people leave because of these prices, but apperently this level hasn’t been reached yet.

The real question on everybody’s mind is if Yak’s is going to blow their biggest lead yet. Almost there!
Yesterday, YB lost the lead over FA in the ranking (not in the current match, but in the ranking as a whole), when FA attacked EB and TC decided not to defend EB but to attack YB BL and than defend it against YB.
This move effectively kicked YB to a meager +10 score for hours, which lead to FA overthrowing them in the new ranking.
I hope that FA gives TC cookies for helping them stay in the tier this way, else THEY were the once being kicked out!
