You seem to be pretty rounded, not focusing too much on a single stat, which is the best IMHO.
If you gave up some stats you can get better at others, but I think a balanced approach is best in most cases!

TC once again managed to please The Golem Gods and took both YB’s keep and FA’s keep with 9 golems, plus everything inbetween!
Just a pity that the defending-focused commander left and an attack-focused commander took over, else we may have held the FA keep alot longer.
Still, was alot of fun!
All hail to The Golem Gods!!!

is there any comfort in 2nd place? Do you turn to the person who came in last and say “well, at least I got 2nd”? In my experience, and with my mentality, no. There’s one winner, and two losers.
When all 3 people had fun, there were 3 winners.
I know that it may seem odd for competetive people, but some people can have fun without comming in first.

Nah, you undercut the price of the commodity you want to buy. For instance if a t6 blood is selling for 25 silver, and I put up a few for 20 silver chances are that other ppl will join my 20 silver or undercutting it even more. When there are some posted at 20 silver or less you buy them instead of instantly buying them at 25 silver.
This is how I buy stuff on the TP.
<nods in agreement>
nice price manipulation, hope someone smart is quick and buys them all
Yeah.
The TP hs a bad interface that makes this type of manipulation easy, because as a seller, you don’t see that information, you got to look atthe item as a buyer to see all the listings.
IMHO the sell-list should have the same info as the buy-list and this kind of stuff will stop.

I….don’t think so? I can’t say for sure, so I’ll wait and see what others say. But I do enjoy jumping puzzles, and I haven’t noticed any difference with it.
I only do the EB jump puzzle, for the WWW badges and I fall off everytime now, at the same spot as were I almost always make the jump
I don’t do other puzzles, though, only EB.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
Did Anet steath-nerfed jumping?
When I go close to the end of a platform and try to jump, I simply fall right down. I am pretty sure that I used to be able to get closer to edges to jump, now I just fall down without jumping at all.
I didn’t see anything in the patch notes, so either it is my imagination or they stealth-nerfed this.
Anyone else saw this?
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
What EXACTLY is the siege limit?
1. Is it x sieges per map? E.g. 600 sieges on EB? Or is it x sieges per map and per server? E.g. 200 sieges on EB for each of the 3 servers?
2. I know that there is a ‘area cap’ too, you can’t build alot of siege in the same area. But is this per server too?
For example, if FA would build 5 catapults in an alley under a tower, would that help prevent TC from building Arrowcarts in that tower?
3. Also, I assume that there it doesn’t make a difference WHO builds this siege, a newly tranferred character or an established siege-master?

[quote=911651;Gaile Gray.6028he was allegedly logging in from four hundred miles away, and in a span that covered three countries! (England, Scotland, Wales)[/quote]
Last time I checked, England, Scotland & Wales were not seperate countries, but all three part of the same country, the UK.
But I guess Anet’s idea of countries outside the USA & South Korea is a little bit odd: they even seem to think Belgium is a French speaking country, because they keep sending me to French pages.
Oh, well.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
The most important thing about making fast gold on the TP is not to tell anyone how exactly you do it.
It’s simple as that. Take the post above me as an example – within 2 minutes this method will be gone.
I agree that any method fails if it is explained here.
But not the gem one. There is no way that this will fail, even if all 1,100 people that read this post do it.
People will have more and more money in this game. And these people will buy gem-store items that they want (like vault slots and inventory slots), alot of them with gold-bought gems, even at higher gems prices. It is a 100% safe investement (unless Anet suddenly disides to lower gems prices, but that would be against their own interests).
It takes time to make money with gems, because gem prices have to rise 30% before you profit, but it is a safe way.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
So far I have bought 1 bank slot with gems, that’s all.
What would I buy?
- Alternate armor slot
- Easy-to-swap trait setup thing
But, what do I need the most that is not in the game? An item toolbar! Really, I need a toolbar for my WvWvW blueprints and for my Ogre Pet Whistle, Seed Turret and Ash Legion Spy Kit. These are items that are very fun too use and not OP, but it is terrible to open your inventory and having to use them from there.
Seriously! Just add a toolbar for 12 items, Anet!

Also, a screenshot of the current map.
I think we won :O.
This screenshot should really put an end to the TC-YB alliance nonsense. That is TC holding half of YB’s map, including their beloved garrison…
People should look at this screenshot and realize that both FA and YB simply looked for opportunities and then went after them.
Also…
We at TC fought an hour today at the keep near FA’s spawn in EB, defending it from a FA zerg at one inner gate and at the same time defending it from a YB zerg at the other inner gate.
Eventually, we lost the keep to YB, but it was one heck of a fight!
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
I swear half don’t pick up supply’s or have any siege blueprints. Don’t how many times I’ve had to run back and forth from supply camp to build a ram while couple others sit and attack door with their measly 50 damage or so.
That is the same on TC, you know. There are always people just standing there shooting the gate here too.
If you just say in /map ‘Some people come with me to supply’ chances are no-one will come.
But if you whisper 3-4 peopel individually and ask them to come, saying very specifically that it is to build a ram that does 3,000 damage per swing instead of their 30 damage, then very few people refuse to come.

Edit: Also have seen several PRO members alt-f4 tonight. I am disappoint.

Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
One word and one word only: gems.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
That’s not what I meant at all, and I spent a great deal of the OP explaining exactly what I meant.
I was simply trying to find out why gem prices spiked to 3x since I started playing and why ANet isnt doing anything about it since they control the supply (and the supply is not limited in any REAL sense, like Oil is, supply in GW2 is just numbers in a system)
I assume that the price is only calculated on a part of the supply, the gems that players sell for gold. Just like demand is only calculated on players action, Anet buys all gems up too, so the demand is infinite too.
Now, why isn’t Anet doing anything about it? Probably because they make money with higher gold-gem prices. The more gold it cost for people to buy gems, the more people will use dollars to buy gems (all other things being equal).
If I were in charge, I would have a market study done to calculate two numbers…
X: the amount of dollars that Anet wins, because more people buy gems with dollars due to the higher gems prices.
Y: the amount of dollars Anet looses, because people leave the game due to higher gems prices.
To calculate number Y, split up the players into different ‘type of players’, attaching a dollar-value to each one of them, probably depending on how much dollars they spend and how much time they spend in the game (and maybe some other variables).
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
(edited by Tallis.5607)
No.
You can only buy gems with dollars or gold.
And items that you buy for gems are bound, so you can’t sell them on the TP for gold (to buy gems with).
So, the answer is, unfortunalty, no you can’t trade those items for gems.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
First, you can not buy them all. It is technically impossible. But I asume you want to go theoretically.
Theoretically
If you buy everything from one item, people will offer the ectos in their inventory. This will set a certain price. At the same time, new items will come in and a new price)level will be created.
So, that is the answer: people will find a new price level where supply & demand meet each other.
This new price level will not be 2 gold or something crazy like that. The price can not go up indefinatly, because at a certain moment people will simply stop buying them.
Why can’t you buy them all?
A. The current TP.
According to the TP, there are now 12,800 sell orders for ecto, 10,700 of them at 50s or lower.
So, let’s take 42s as the average you will pay for those 10,700, that is 5,000 gold.
1,170 of them are between 50s & 1g, so let’s say another 3,000 gold for those.
350 of them are between 1 and 2g, so that’s another 500g or so and ley’s assume the last 50 ones cost you another 200g (doesn’t matter much).
So, you just spent 9,000 gold to buy all ectos.
That is about 1.25$ = 100gems = 1g28s, so about 9,000 dollars.
B. People’s inventory.
Now… when you start buying up stacks of 250, people will add more ectos. Players will tell it on their guild Mumble servers. People will yell it in map. And as time goes on, more and more people will add ectos, because more and ore people will know someone is paying whatever price for them.
And this is an item that people HAVE stored away, trust me. Pretty much every hardcore player and every trader has them. Dozens. Multiply this with the amount of hardcore players and you are looking at more than 10,000 new ectos, this time at prices waaaaaay higher than the ones on TP.
C. People making them.
Once the ecto-prices are up, alot of people will stopwhat they are doing and start making ectos by buying rares and salvage them.
This will simply break you. You can not keep buying these, because they will keep comming and comming and comming. As in, literally, 100,000 of them if you don’t stop.
The fact that people can make them at will, makes it impossible for you to buy them all.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
High end items also serve as motivation, the famous carrot on a stick. But if the stick is a three mile polearm and the carrot is a barely visible dot on the horizon, the whole idea of this type of player motivation drops off.
You seem to forget one that you can buy any legendary off the TP with gold. And how do you get gold the fastest? Buy buying gems from Anet.
That weapon you see three-miles-away is a money-maker for Anet, plain and simple: players will pay dollars to get it.
Next to no-one will farm 350 lodestones. People buy them off TP. With money they got from gems. Gems they bought from Anet. With dollars.
I would 100% agree with you that this is a unattainable carrot on a stick. But it is not, it is a carrot very specificaly designed by Anet to make money.
And, quite frankly, I can’t say I disagree. If some lonely rich boy wants to use daddy’s credit card because he wants to have a glowing weapon, well, who am I to disagree? Or if some crazy woman doesn’t mind ploinking down 350 dollars to shoot rainbows out of her bow, well, let her.
Bottom line: legendary weapons are not unattainable at all, you just got to pay Anet money.

You have to give us credit for our skill in diplomacy. Apparently we can have a deal with Yaks for two weeks where we team up on FA, then after costing Yaks second place by taking their keep at the last moment in the second week, we can team up with FA, take out Yaks, and reward them by immediately seizing their keep.
:)
As a (admitably, new) member of a big TC WWW guild, I never heard anyone say aything about a real alliance. Not on mumble, not in guild chat, never.
We do, however, all rally against the server that attacks our homeland.
And we ALL hate whatever server dances on our corpses, kills in JP or camp our spawn.

Out of curiosity, what are TC queues like? FA actually had a queue on every single map in prime time which was awesome, the first time I’ve seen it.
On TC there are queues on every map at peak hours too and often there is a queue to EB at off-hours.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
I agree that something should be done, yes. Maybe instead of making tiers of 3 all the time, take the first 3 out of rank 1, 2, 3 and 4, then take the next 3 out of the one that isn’t in that group and then two from ranks 5, 6 & 7 and so on.
Now it is very stale
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
Update…
TC 252,912 / +275
YB 181,948 / +160
FA 181,025 / +260
So, it is REALLY close between YB & FA…
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
The changed prices come from a lack of supply relative to demand, not from a substantial increase in inflation (this is apparent when you look at the TP as a whole bundle of good rather than just a few items).
Yes, but ectos aren’t just another type of goods, they are required to make exotics.
Price spikes on these items hurt players where it matters, in their gear. Not in something cosmetic that you ‘can do without’, like dye, but in their gear.
You may reason that it is ‘the market’, but the end-result is the same for the players: a doubled price.
Result: new 80s can simply not afford things anymore.
This is hurting the game, in my opinion.
I’m rich, so I’m not bothered by it, but when you look at the player-base as a whole, this is hurting a group of people that you want to cater for: the players that are on one of the game’s most critical moments, the moment where they often decide to stay or leave: when they hit the max level.
.
I do not know if there is some sort of marketing theory behind these prices. Maybe Anet thinks something like ‘yeah, well, if they want exotics, they can buy gems and turn them into gold’. Maybe Anet makes more money from people that do this then it looses on people that leave because of this.
But my guess is that they loose valuable customers over this.

Like the past two weeks, Tarnished Coast, Ford Aspenwood and Yak’s Bend fight it out in tier 3!
- Will Tarnished Coast win for the 3rd time in a row?
- Will the second place again be decided in the last hours of the week?
- Will FA lose it’s current 8th place in the ranking to YB?
- Will the tranfer of some GODs from FA to TC affect this week’s outcome?
- Is pie really better then cake?

The other day I saw a group of 15 pubs auto attacking the gate to a tower. No siege. I watched to see how long they would go on. After 10 minutes I got bored and threw down a ram. It only got half built, because of 15 people only 2 were carrying supply.
We have good guilds, Pro, ULTD, PTX. But our pubs are complete idiots.
So yea, I don’t blame people for wanting to distance themselves from that.
Pffft, we were all newbies once.
It only takes 2 minutes to explain a group of newbies what siege is and how supply works. Then another 5 minutes to lead them to a camp, supply up, run back and build your rams.
Look at it this way…
About 3% of the population plays computer games.
About 1% of that 1% plays GW2.
About 5% of that 1% of 3% plays on your server.
About 20% of that 5% of 1% of 3% plays WWW.
So, these people are veeeeeeeeery much like you, it will be hard for you to ever meet a person in real life that is so much alike.
The only difference is that they don’t have your experience in WWW yet.
And you are here on this forum bashing them, calling them ‘complete idiots’, instead of helping these people.
If you can’t even take 10 minutes to explain things to these new people and show them how to do it, then you are more part of the problem than part of the solution.
Just my 2 cents.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
I disagree with everything you stated except for people logging off while downed. And they won’t really be able to stop that.
Sure, they can, just add a -say- 5 second pauze in WWW before you can do that.

Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
You can’t speak of supply or demand as the supply is infinite.
I agree: the supply of gems is infinite, Anet can sent you as many as you want.
The demand of gems is infinite too: Anet buys up all gems that you offer.
The supply in gold is infinite, Anet gives you gold for any gem you offer.
The demand in gold is infinite too: Anet takes all gold you give, in return for gems.
That is why it is odd to say that the gem price depends on demand & supply, cause both demand & supply are infinite.

Is there an armor set in the game that has Thoughness & Healing Power on it (for warriors) that can be bought with Karma?
I want to upgrade my rare Cleric’s set, but a full exotic Cleric’s set would cost me around 20g and that is alot of money! So I prefer to spend Karma (I got plenty of that). Or even spend skill points (plenty of those too), but I guess that’s not possible.
Does anyone knowns if I can buy an upgrade for Karma or with anything else than gold?

So this is just people buying in and making profits of the people that are late?
Yeah, this are people that buy for 100g chocolate bars, post in forum about rising chocolate prices, sell the chocolate to the people that believe them and go buy chocolate & take the profit, laughing all the way to the bank at the stupid forum readers.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
You can buy Dye at the gem store, so it is a source of ioncome for Anet. What did you think would happen, they would give MORE of them for free?
So prices doubled and some even tripled. You can bet Anet is making more money on gem dyes now than before.
That being said, I don’t really mind this market-manipulation from Anet. Dyes are a pure cosmetic thing, they can 10-fold the price for all I care.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
It’s just another one of the market manipulations.

I just want to know how TC dropped a kitty load of players (literally) on my head last night as I was manning a ballista. No warning to me or anybody else in the area, we were epically crushed. It was both rude and awesome at the same time! I guess I still have a lot to learn….
Probably a mesmer portal. We did that ALOT this week, especially at choke points: with their two invisibility sources and some of their protective skills, they can run pretty far after they placed the portal entrance.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
We wiped our borderlands blue with a 10-15 man crew after TC either got bored or realised how much territory they had sacrificed for our garrison and withdrew the majority of their forces.
Well, as one of the TC players that was there, I can tell you that our determination to take your garrison was partly caused by the FA-whining-post here on the forums and partly by the many complaints in our chat about FA-corpse-dancing.
We knew fully well that taking the garrison while Yak was around would cost us more points that it gained, but several people literally said stuff like ‘better to take stuff from FA and loose to Yak, then let FA keep their stuff’.
That’s what happens when you are rude to others…
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
Yaks here. So um atm right now TC is rick rolling everything. I think someone got a big transfer boost. Sry TC but you didn’t have those kinds of numbers a day ago. So Well I hate to say it Yaks but we can’t compensate with pure determination .with our dwindling WvW community and I have to blame it fully on fractals. All I seen lions arch is LFG Fractals lvl 20. The fractals has killed yaks WvW community.
o_O
TCster here. There were no tranfers to TC that I know off. I’ve seen the same amount of queues for weeks now, I seriously doubt there are more players now.
It’s not the TC numbers that make a difference, I think it is the fact that a) alot of TC WWWers are in one guild, a guild with mumble and all, so it helps ALOT and b) this week, FA often simply gave up when things were going against them, unlike previous week when they didn’t gave up so soon.
We captured the whole FA map twice this week, all points, without a queue to FA BL.

For those wondering, the options are basically the same as at character creation right now. No new colours/models/etc. That goes for hair accessories too they’re limited to the default palette which is a shame. The full makeover kit even allows you to change gender if desired (but not race)

TC WWW player here.
I do not know anything about an alliance against FA, but I can tell you this: FA is the only server out of the six that I played against where players dances on your corpse after you run into a zerg.
THAT is the reason why I prefer to attack FA instead of Yak.
If you would get rid of these (few) bad elements on your server, people will stop seeing FA as target number one.
I do not claim that FA as a whole is rude. But as I said, of all the servers that I played against, they are the only ones doing that. Just saying…
It gave me great personal joy to have captured FAs entire borderland this weekend (every single point on FA was TCs for a while) just because of this rude behaviour of some of your players.

So, it looks like we will be fighting the same two teams AGAIN after this week. Pfffffft. There should be a better matching mechanism, so that the servers don’t have to compete the same ones over and over and over again: I am tired of FAs dancing on corpses and camping JPs

Prices of gmes in gold are only affected buy buying and selling gems with gold: when you buy gems with gold, the price of gems in gold goes up.
And thus, according to the community, the amount of gems that people own has no influence whatsoever on the price.
If all players combined own 1,000,000 gems and someone buys 100 gems with gold, the price will go up with the exact same amount as when players own 25,000,000 gems and someone buys 100 gems with gold.
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
The answer to this can be found here…
Always carries a towel – Never panics – Eats cookies.
Player driven, unfortunately. Players have to buy gems, and then sell them. Anet don’t actually sell gold.
That’s not true,; Anet sells gold.
When you buy gems for 40$ from TP, you buy from Anet.
When you sell your gems for 40 gold, you sell to Anet.
Net result:
- you are out of 40$.
- Anet has 40$.
- you have 40 gold.
That is pure gold selling, no matter how you look at it.

I obtained my precursor (the legend) for cheap, after the Karka event.
On the whole, I feel like the legendary weapon is entirely too easy to get.
Gee… you are so… well… I can’t find a word that would not break the TOS…
You got LUCKY. Plain and simple. There is no other word for it. L.U.C.K.Y. You did the same as we all did, but because your RND gave the right number, you got your legendary.
And now you come here, saying that it is too easy to get…
Man, man, of all the posts that I dislike in here, this tops them all.
Lucky. That is the word, pure and dumb luck.
It had nothing to do with skill.
It had nothing to do with determination.
It had nothing to do with planning.
It was pure and dumb luck.
Good for you! But do NOT tell people that were not lucky that they are too easy to get. It’s like a lottery winner saying that it’s easy to make money, cause, hey, all you got to do is fill in 6 numbers.

Someone said in another post: If you want to do your part to shift the ratio, buy some gems and change them into gold.
How would this change the gem price? Can people here tell me what they think about this?
.
Step 1 : buy gems with dollars.
What do you think that the affect is on the gem price in gold of this step?
( a ) Does it go up, because there was more demand for gems?
( b ) Does it go down, because there is now a higher supply of gems?
( c ) Does it cancel each other out.
( d ) The amount of gems bought with $$$ does not influence the gem price in gold.
.
Step 2 : sell gems for gold.
What do you think that the affect is on the gem price in gold of this step?
( a ) Does it go up, because there is now less supply of gems?
( b ) Does it go down, because there was a higher supply of gems?
( c ) Does it cancel each other out?
( d ) The amount of gems bought with gold does not influence the gem price in gold.
.
3: effect of 1 and 2 combined.
Assume that there were no other gem trads being made between step 1 and 2, by nobody.
( a ) Was the effect of Step 1 greater than Step 2?
( b ) Was the effect of Step 1 smaller than Step 2?
( c ) Was the effect of Step 1 the same than Step 2?
.
I would love to know the community’s opinion on this…

I agree with adding a cost to the custom buy orders. I think that this will put an end to the market manipulation that we currently see.
That being said, I do not agree that you should put the minimum price too high. Plenty of people cannot afford 9g for one item. And if the seller, who may have researched that item and got alot of points of them or who happend to have materiuals laying around, wants to sell it at 5g, that’s his right too.

^ this… There is nothing that says ‘buy more gems’ than having 15 gems in your purse, unused.
That being said, you can buy the exact amount with gold. Or you can sell your unused gems for gold.
It is not such a big problem as in other games.
