But in the heat of battle, things happens. Agg cant be responsible for every 1 at the field even if they make up most of the players present there.
It’s not that we did not encounter “weird” stuff from GOM sides, but we brush it aside as there is no point talking about it anyway… Okay I admit, I do complain about such stuff in guild and party chat but that’s about it .

Understood. Every server has been guilty of things like that at some point. My message was simply to notify them so they could report it if they saw it going on. We’d expect the same head’s up if you saw any weird stuff coming from GoM players, because the vast majority of us don’t tolerate that kind of stuff.

I haven’t said anything negative or complained about your guild thus far. But someone in your little siege group was able to hit our arrow carts that were far out of range without a little camera help, including one that was built almost completely around the corner in the courtyard.

Zergball/DeathTrain/whatever the Agg guys call it… it’s a viable strategy that’s got its strengths and weaknesses like anything else. They’re very good at what they’re striving to do, so respect to them for that. I personally don’t find it all that effective in the long run for this tier’s playstyle, but as long as they’re having fun, who cares? Run around and make things paper, you glorious zergy kittens.

I don’t know what Anet’s plans are for the scoring system but if SF could win by such a big margin, for such a long time and still need a nudge up to get out, I guess we may all be in this matchup for quite some time, especially when you consider how close the scores are.

I love this idea, it’s a fair match and three fairly even servers. I hope the three of us stay in this matchup all year long.

Just don’t enjoy the match-up TOO much. In our experience, that’s when someone comes along and moves you out of it. We need to keep ANet from realizing we’re having fun here… maybe get a thread or two locked just to throw them off the trail.

The really funny thing about GoM is that if we get riled up enough…we’re dangerous. Keep kicking the hornets nest. We’ll rebound. We’ll regroup. We’re having fun, learning things and adapting. I think this week has been a great lesson for us. If anything, it’s showed us that we need to get hungry again, start recruiting, adjusting our tactics and play past all of the nay sayers and trolls.

That was our exact sentiment when all those t1/t2’s transferred down. It was something new and shiny, and omg it was fun to play with and figure it out and how to counteract it. That seems to be lacking in t7 so far. Glad you guys are having fun down there though.

Ironically, part of the answer to the Agg puzzle is to NOT spend so much time trying to solve them. But where’s the fun in that?

We have never encountered anything like Agg before. We are learning and adapting and testing out new tactics. Only time will tell how successful we are, but we are definitely improving. The rest of ET has not been too hard to deal with, and you can easily tell if Agg is online based on whether ET is winning or losing. (No offense intended to ET).

That makes it sound like FoE isn’t present very much. Are they not around anymore? Agg and FoE were two fairly prominent ET thorns in our side while we were down there.

FoE is very present, as are many other skilled ET guilds we’ve come across. We’re don’t intend to slight the rest of the server when we talk about Agg. You just want us to shift our focus to FC so that they don’t catch up to you guys as well. With the scores as close as they are, there’s a very real possibility FC might slip by and steal 1st as the week progresses. I can only imagine how excited both ET/FC are right now at having a chance to win the tier after being stuck in a miserable match-up for so long. It’s going to be fun to see which one of the bros cannibalizes the other first, because I have a good feeling this match-up is gonna go down to the wire.

My guess is that it just fixes those clickable targets that are just barely out of reach by the #1 and #3 skills (but hittable with the #2 skill).

Just wanted to let you know, that random free-for-all between me, you, and that ET thief near the south sentry point in GoM BL was awesome! I probably spent more than half of that fight hovering at around 500 health. There was one point when both of you stealthed at the same time and I just sat in my black powder circle for an eternity, fully expecting to be the target of a double back-stab once that circle fell.

Such an intense fight. Too bad we didn’t get to finish it before it got interrupted. Looking forward to more!

HoD and NSP: Just transfer on over to GoM. You know you want to. We’ll send your old servers a big batch of PvErs. They’re really good at dungeons, fractals, and dragons, but really bad at opening karma temples despite keeping us marked as “Very High” population. I do all my karma shopping over at JQ and TC. :/

kitten happened, and we’re over it. Despite it being kind of a jerk move on ANet’s part to drop us without warning, the greater good was served and everyone seems to be happy with the new matches. I’m still optimistic about getting a GoM/AR rematch again someday, Nuzt. It’s just going to take a lot longer to get there now. :/

I’ve gotten better at killing thieves, just… those really good ones I still have trouble with. because when I finally do get the advantage, you stealth, remove conditions, heal, come back, back stab, disappear, I bob and weave so you can’t backstab again and eventually I hide back in my tower because you’re being a meanie head. If my mesmer was on his guardian… oooo those fights would have came out differently.

It kinda makes me sad to see GoM suddenly drop to T8, and, on top of that, score as low as they are (last time I checked). Having come from GoM myself, I’m surprised that the server declined so rapidly. When I was with them, they were having a fantastic race against NSP. Now… Even SF, a server that we used to beat often (no offense, SF, though it’s true, we did beat you pretty often when we were together in T7) has completely surpassed them. :/

Don’t count us out. We just need to adapt again. It’s been a pattern that any time we re-build, some outside force comes along and tears it down. Our WvW vets will shrug it off and keep pushing, but it’s difficult to keep re-earning the trust of our casuals and pugs when all of their efforts in building a well-coordinated community are rewarded with getting zerged by free transfers to every server not named GoM and then being physically moved down a tier on a developer’s whim.

Well, we didn’t want to go either. But even though ANet saw fit to give SF a pity pass at our expense, we’re still having fun here. It’s tough to judge servers on reset night because everyone is so zergy and all the squishies come out to play, but I like what I’ve seen from ET and FC so far (and congrats to that guy who got his map completion!). It’ll be interesting to see how everyone settles in once the weekend rush ends and the real battle begins.

As for T7, we’re counting on you guys to represent it well and keep SF from moving up. Broken ratings systems or not, they’re sitting in a spot they didn’t earn, and all we want is a chance to get back there and fight them for it.

Announcing this correction with so little warning feels a bit like throwing GoM under the bus… how about making the ratings bump a bit more public and waiting till next week so servers have a chance to prepare.

How is this throwing GoM under the bus? I’m just curious, because even if they normalize t8, you still have a week to not come in third place again. Either show up or don’t and fall to t8, pretty clean cut.

Because GoM, while very normally very active in WvW, is notorious for jumping head-first into new events as they’re released. So between the new adventure box and spring break, our maps were a ghost town for much of the week and our scoring was kitten. Combo that up with this surprise announcement about T8 ratings adjustments, and it’s a pretty bad sucker-punch for us, or a miracle for SF, depending on your point of view.

Either way, I’m happy the devs are making some progress into creating a more volatile scoring environment. And I do realize that no matter the solution, it’s impossible to make everyone happy (in this case, me and my server). I just think a week’s notice would’ve been grand instead of getting tossed down because everyone wanted to play mario.

What about resetting the ratings for T7 and T8, then populating those two match-ups based on random draw from the bottom six teams? Give those teams a fighting chance and let the ratings re-adjust accordingly. Who knows… maybe ET/FC don’t belong in T8 either.

An odd sight in GoM BL tonight. Perhaps the world is coming to an end: PAXA catapulting Woodhaven. Felt I needed to screenshot it to prove it actually happened.

Not as odd as you might think, it’s an age-old tradition held by PAXA and friends to catapult a tower or keep in order to draw out a zerg to kill. It is a necessary evil that we must endure at times.

Lol, I did suspect that might be their actual goal.

Next time you see them, just let them get the wall down and see if they’ll actually take it =)

Someone please enlighten me about this mechanic. Maybe i’m missing something because i can’t find the fun factor in that.

Since you asked him to give other defenses (why 10, can you name 10 for every class?) that a Thief has besides stealth. I’ll take a stab at this, as a Thief.

1) Stealth
2) Evasion – No other class has the amount of evasion we have, except for maybe the Elementalist.
3) Teleports – Infiltrators Arrow = 900 range that doesn’t require a target, and blinds, Infiltrators Strike = No range on the teleport back to said point. Shadow Steps Return.
4) Fear
5) Blind
6) Chill – An opponent moving 66% slower than you, can not catch you.
7) Cripple – An opponent moving 50% slower than you, can not catch you.
8) Stuns/Dazes

Yeah, I can’t name 10, but we have enough to stay alive, if used correctly. I run a non-stealth build, and I have no issues staying alive, or killing people.

Moas, eh? I’ve been having a rather entertaining game of cat-and-mouse all week long with a certain HoD asuran mesmer with a CC tag. Every time we run into each other, I either end up getting moa’d or they end up getting super explosion spiked. There’s also much /dancing, corpse jumping, and fireworks involved. All in all, lots of fun.

I recently came back to GW2, and my characters are on Gates of Madness. I want to get into WvW a lot more, but as far as I can tell, there is no server organization, website, mumble, anything.

Is it worth trying to find people to organize with, or should I switch servers? Anyone have a similar experience they want to share?

Welcome back! Things are definitely a lot quieter in wvw this week due to a combination of spring break and the new adventure box event, but stick around and give us a chance. We do have an alliance wbsite, a dedicated teamspeak server for both public and guild use, and plenty of wvw-focused guilds that favor coordinated small group play over zerging. I’m sending you a PM right now with all that info.
