I can’t speak for people my server (HoD) but I don’t usually attack people unless they attack me first. And to be honest, I only attacked GoM today cause they were camping and killing people in the EB puzzle.
It’s unfortunate, but what often happens is that people will start killing in the JP, then others will respond to that killing with more killing. In a matter of moments people who were trying to live and let live start paying the price for their companions’ actions.
This is still a pvp mode. Just because I’m nice enough to let people through doesn’t mean I’m going to expect you or anyone else to return that favor.
Just go in expecting a fight and be pleasantly surprised if you don’t get one. You’ll be much happier in the long run.
I recall someone posting recently about using a longbow and banners to combo with themselves for kitten amounts of might stacks. Seems pretty impractical, but might be fun if you’re looking for a challenge by handicapping yourself.
GoM will also accept 20 dropped golem blueprints as payment for safe passage to your last point of interest. Of course, we’ll have to kill you after, but at least you’ll die with a shiny emblem next to your name.
Wait htf is DH beating you guys … your dead to me.
Well, we did lose a good bit of people to transfers during last week’s match-up. Getting roflstomped by project servers tends to have that affect on morale. I think T7 is going to be our home for the foreseeable future since we’re not really actively recruiting in this dash for free transfers.
But, on the bright side, DH and HoD have been nothing short of astounding tier-mates for us. My only complaints thus far is that a) they’re too quiet, and b) they think that “the score is too close” is a good reason to cancel fight night.
Some guy stole my golem and ran it off a cliff while saying over local chat “waste of 1 gold”.
My favorite line in this entire thread.
ok TeamBattleAxe after speaking to some folks sanity has prevailed – this weeks score is just too close to allow it – but that just means you can hunt my little asura down in HoD borderlands
sorry all but NO FIGHT NIGHT THIS WEEK
Welp, there goes my strategy of enticing both HoD and DH into a fight night so that GoM could sneak around and cap everything while you guys are distracted.
Maybe next week.
Sea of Sorrows is better.
Gates of Madness makes me think of maniacal clowns throwing acid pies. Sea of Sorrows just makes me think of sad puppies. Look at the sad puppy dog eyes…go ahead, I dare you.

“Join Sea of Sorrows, the only server that’s so emo that the grass cuts itself”
:D
Yesssss…. fight night!
Where at and what time? I’ll be home after 8pm CST.
My internet’s being all sketchy, so I got to spend some quality time with windows movie maker instead of defending the borderlands.
Here’s a clip of a really fun fight that took place earlier this week. DH eventually won that fight and kicked us out, but we made a good stand and held out for a solid 10 minutes or so.
http://youtu.be/vwo-4Pkzv4g
HoD has really stepped up their gameplay from the last couple of weeks and DH is just an all-around awesome server to fight against. We’re looking a little thinner than normal, but we’re hanging in there as best we can. Definitely a fun week of fighting and it looks like we’ll get to enjoy the same match-up again next week.
If anyone wants to host another Thursday night fight club this week, count me in.
Dear HoD and DH,
Go to bed.
Love,
GoM
Oil: 50
So if we rush with 55 Alpha Siege Golems 5 of them will be unharmed. Awesome!
You should test this… for science! Make sure to youtube the results.
Welcome to the week-day stretch. Kudos to DH for ending the weekend on top, but HoD is closing fast. And if our weeknight regulars show up, we should be right back in the mix as well.
Let’s see if DH can hold on ’til Friday. Keep up the good fights!
Loving the match-up. I think this is the first time we’ve fought against Darkhaven, and it was well worth the wait.
>.< Nuuu, only if I don’t have work right now, I’d go in and toss fireworks and run around for fun
Dont worry I jackaloped them and bombed them with a very large bomb for you.
I’m sure someone has pictures. d
I didn’t get any footage of the jackalope stuff, but I did get some video of a duel between me and Shaka while you were twirling around with fireworks.
Two things to point out in the screenshot: 1) You Ai folks sure love to prance, and 2) even in parties, GoM and HoD are out-numbered by Kaineng 3:1
(sorry, couldn’t resist
)
That was one guild. But everyone pretty much expected that fight club would end in a brawl anyways.
Was good fun though while it lasted, though. Thanks for the duels, whoever I fought. I definitely picked up a few tricks.
Wait, there’s another no-stealth thief out there?
I must break you.
Did we ever figure out who that WM commander charr warrior with the blue sword was? He NEVER drops anything good when spiked.
Oh, we gave ‘em a fight alright. There’s just so many of them that they can post a mini-zerg at every camp on every map and still have numbers to attack large objectives. Fortunately, they’re easily out-classed and you’ll be able to farm badges all week.
They do have some nice counter-siege placement, though, so take notes!
Whoever loses between DH and NSP will get rewarded with an entertaining match-up next week instead of a roflstomp. Not saying you should throw the match, but you should throw the match.
And Anvil Rock… we miss you so much. Come visit us over in T7 sometime!
I guess that’s as close as we’re going to get to civility for the week. :P
Calm down, folks. Everyone’s stated their arguments on the issue and neither side is budging. Now we’re at the point where we’re just repeating ourselves.
Just let it go. There’s only two days left before reset, then Kaineng will become someone else’s problem. If anything, go settle your differences at fight club so you can fight on equal ground.
While i agree no one is budgeing and respect you for your post. If players say or do nothing then more of these kinds of mass moves will continue to happen. I think those that jump ship and move in massive numbers ruining other players gaming enjoyment should at least know what we think of them. You may not feel the same and that is fine but seeing as my enjoyment for the week was ruined i reserve my right to let those responsible know how I feel about it.
Those responsible would be ANet. Until they weigh in on the situation, mass transfers are fair play. Just like night-capping, jumping puzzle camping, and those little invulnerability areas in some supply camps.
I’m with ya, man. This situation sucks. I’ve voiced my argument and read all of their points. Some of the statements coming from Kaineng are downright laughable, while others seem sincere. But the argument itself is going nowhere and we can’t generalize the motivation of their entire server. We’d be no better off than all the kitten who labelled GoM as the hacker server at launch and caused our initial mass exodus.
For better or worse, Kaineng chose their path. They’ll achieve some success, I’m sure. But on the flip side, all they have to look forward to for the next few weeks is another 8 pages of forum hatred from each tier they stomp while GoM and HoD will be enjoying a much more fun and even match-up.

1 at 4PM pst and 1 at 9PM pst sounds like a good idea.
Signed.
All people really want out of WvW are fresh, entertaining match-ups and some semblance of parity. The current rating system does work pretty well at achieving balance (minus the mass-transferring knuckleheads), but it’s a bit slow. Switching to a 1st-moves-up, 3rd-moves-down system will have a bit more flip-flopping, but I think it’s an acceptable compromise. Every tier except the top and bottom ones will get 2 new servers rotated in each week.
Give it a shot, Wryscher. It’s just to downed state, so no worries about repair costs. And if those shifty Kaineng kittens try anything funny, we’ll just wipe ’em.
+3 for a second round of fight club later on in the evening!
Rule #5: When a mesmer shows up, we all jump him. :P
Oh, you’re definitely playing. I want to see how my no-stealth thief stacks up against a respectably adequate guardian. Consider the gauntlet dropped.
This reminds me…
Event: Fight Club
Date: Thursday
Time: 4PM PST
Location: To be determined
Rules:
1. A servers players must be in one area together.
2. In order to start the fight, atleast 2 challengers (from any server) must go to the middle of the ring/open area.
3. Can be 1v1, 3v3, 5v5, Golem v Golem, etc.
4. No Spiking, only to down state.Whisper any one from RE if you have any questions about it. Its great fun, it builds cohesion and good/friendly communication between other guilds/servers. Its a friendly competition of PvP, great fun and something we started with NSP/Maguuma back in the day. And every guild from any server who participated loved it
I’m definitely interested, but I probably won’t be on ’til much later (8 PM or later by your time zone). Any chance of a round two for us late-nighters?
One thing that’s been glossed over so far is the timing of the situation. You guys chose to take your T8 project server out for a spin during the holidays. The influx of new players who got the game for Christmas that we low tiers so desperately needed? Yeah, their WvW experience was one and done. Nobody in their right mind would want to give a situation like that a second chance.
This goes back to the whole respect thing. It’s perfectly within the game rules and your right as a player to play on whatever server you want and transfer as you see fit. That’s fine. If that’s how you want to play the game, then so be it and more power to you. But you need to understand that your enjoyment of the game is coming at the expense of ruining the enjoyment of other players whose only options at this point are to either transfer themselves or simply not play. It’s up to you whether you give a crap or not, but at least understand why everyone is so angry about it.
But, it happened and the tiers will eventually re-stabilize. And it’ll happen again, and re-stabilize again as long as transfers are unlocked. No point in arguing.

Looks like we’ll see you guys next week.
Not you Kaineng. Wohahaha.Operation Fail Train has commenced.
Apparently.
Agreed with styx. I enjoyed fighting against NSP in that match-up a few weeks ago. Looking forward to the next!
This thread has gotten pretty silly.
GoM/HoD: This isn’t the first time you’ve been zerged. Stop acting like it. Kitten happens, and we’ll have a much better match-up next week.
Kain: You’re still new at having huge numbers in your favor. Learn to do so gracefully and not resort to being jerks about it. If Fubuki still plays, I can imagine he’s probably facepalming himself to death over some of the attitudes and tactics coming from Kaineng.
Personally, I don’t care who we fight or how badly we’re outnumbered. All I do is WvW, so nothing you bring to the table will ever send me back to PvE. Even if you manage to chase away all of my servermates, I’ll still be there throwing myself at 1vZerg ’til reset and taking as many of you kittens down with me as possible.
Now, back to the war.
So far the only strategy I’ve seen Kaineng practicing is that if our 4 wipe your 10, you return with 30. It’s no wonder your new transfers weren’t succeeding on their previous servers and moved south looking for easier fights.
Can’t wait to get done with work and join in on this match-up. Screw the scoreboard and screw your numbers. I’m going straight at your stupid zerg all week.
Those of you who are miserable on the new and improved Kaineng Machine (yeah, I read your last match-up thread) are more than welcome to join us on GoM. Or join up with our friends over on HoD, SF, or ET. The freeloaders packed up and left our servers long ago, so there’s plenty of room available for people who prefer a tough fight over a weekly roflstomp.
Sometimes you don’t want to rush at your opponent after a physical skill. Case in point, getting surrounded and using stomp to buy yourself some breathing room, or shutting down a pursuer with bolas or bull rush.
What I REALLY want is for Rampage to be re-worked into a 10-second duration with a 1-minute cooldown. Because punching a zerg in the face is fun.
I’ve fought more than my fair share of excala clones by this point (even ran it on my ele alt for a bit to see what all the fuss was about). Even if I kitten in combat and manage to get hit by their entire rotation, I’ve got plenty enough toughness and vit to shrug it off without popping my healing signet. Plus, you pretty much have to be afk to get hit by churning earth.
You wouldn’t happen to be running glass-cannon, would you? The only time I feel threatened by a d/d ele is when they bring friends with them.
I’d be more curious as to how warriors deal with constant condition pressure, as d/d eles can apply a dangerous amount of dots if specced towards condition damage.
That right there is what I really have to be careful about with my build. GW2 is all about trade-offs, and I’ve chosen to drop all condition removal in favor of extra cc’s and regen. It’s risky, but usually pays off because there’s not all that many people running around out there with pure condition builds. And against those, I have to decide very early in the fight if I’m going to try to kill them quickly or get the hell out. Fortunately, they have to sacrifice a bit of their durability to add all that condition damage, so things end up being pretty balanced. It just more of an approach-with-caution situation.
Just ignore them and laugh at their pitiful damage as you go about doing more important things. D/D eles are only good for one thing in WvW, and that’s distraction. Don’t be that guy who tries to chase them down instead of helping his team take a tower.
D/D Elementalist don’t do pitiful damage, they have the highest AOE damage in the game, even if they fully bunker, they can switch attunements to crit 100% of the time, so they don’t need precision.

An ele can teleport to you with churning earth.
After 3 seconds of standing completely still with a giant circle around them. >_<

As soon as the last golem is built.
Both can excel at in-your-face fighting. Guardians are safer because they have some useful damage mitigation skills and defensive buffs. Warriors are more straight-forward and aggressive. Technically, any class can be built up as a bunker of sorts, so the big question is what kind of play-style is most appealing to you.
Since you enjoy playing “offensive tank”, here’s a couple of videos I think will convert you to warrior
It was New Years and they weren’t being festive. Those kittens.
Dueling is a fun way to pass the time and improve your build/skills when there’s no other pressing objective going on. We’ve owned the scoreboard all week, so I was fortunate enough to find some sparring partners to test out a new build with (cheers to SF for being good sports). As Adaneshade pointed out, most people dueling don’t stomp each other. They’ll just back off or sit when someone is downed.
That said, it IS still open-world pvp, and dueling or not, you’re fair game. The red is dead rule trumps all. Duel at your own risk.
While HoD is distracted fighting for their lives, I’ll just leave this right here:
http://youtu.be/xyuxgTsFFc0
I’m going to miss this matchup
and wow the point difference between HoD and SF is to close to even call at this point
There WILL be action all the way to the bell
great fights last night in GoM BL and EB – HoD and SF kept GoM busy on several maps
No kidding.
HoD and SF are neck and neck for the right to remain in T7, while GoM and NSP are watching the point tallies to see who earns the final T6 spot. Should be intense right up ‘til reset. Only thing that’s certain so far is that Kaineng is moving up and has like a thousand people on their over-night crew.
Play whatever class you would like, with any spec you enjoy, however you enjoy it, as long as you have 10-15 supply, you are useful and an asset to your team.
I feel this should be bolded, underlined, and turned into a welcome message that displays the first time you log in to WvW.
GoM- Why you have so many people? T.T
Is it just me, or does GoM have far more players this week than they did during last week’s match? :-/
(Not griping GoM! Just observing!
)
yeah, you’re outnumbered. but considering i saw both SF teams and HOD teams put rams on SM walls i think being outnumber isn’t your only problem.
Oh, don’t even get me started on the dingbats on our server who have been building rams on the walls. A little part of me dies inside every time I see this. Such a waste of perfectly good plans and supply.
I believe that pve guys getting interested in wvw is a good thing, that may have been the case in there… dont bash them without explaining why it wont work, we, who have been playing since start need to do a lot of explaining of tactics and zerg.
Last time I tried to explain (and others too), we got “lol ur wrong” from the ones who built it (and they just keep doing it). I’ve been seeing SF rams at the SM wall (and only the SM wall, not at any other keeps or towers elsewhere in WvW) a LOT in this tier, which is a pretty new phenomena.
Sounds like you might have a minor troll infestation. But don’t worry; GoM can help! Send us 50 gold and we’d be more than happy to hunt them down and stomp them for you.
Disclaimer: We may have to flip some of your towers and keeps in order to squash some of the more elusive ones. It’s our policy to hold on to these towers and keeps so that we may monitor them for future infestation detection.
Could we just negotiate down to a way cheaper price and you guys can just destroy those pesky, unnecessary rams instead? :p
Sorry, the once-mighty wall ram is on the endangered list and it’s our policy to allow them to flourish in their natural habitat whenever possible.

My question to you: Would you still feel mobile enough to drop SoS if you weren’t running a short bow?
With signet synergy and skill at using the active it can be a combat asset, but the vast majority of thieves aren’t using it that way, and the ones that are using it that way have enough skill to make other utilities better.
This is exactly the answer I was hoping to hear. Thanks!
