As for PvD… just stop already please, you are embarrassing yourselves and your server (which i happen to like). When we logged in it was all blue, myself and rob are bot on GMT times, We were camped and fairly outnumbered…. just because you realised that we came into EB to fight back, you cant just say “ok lets everyone stop trying to fight them, because they will win, instead lets all leave and claim that they pvdoored us while we were asleep, it gives us a much better server image”

I will admit your numbers sucked by the time we took GoM keep, but for the hour prior to that your numbers were very equal to our own, but maybe after we took SM and a few towers some players lost morale. Or maybe they legitimately went to sleep but what do you want us to do? log off? Would you like to see the videos of your defenders actively trying to stop us? I don’t have them uploaded yet but if you so request I will.

As for hacks. no one on NSP actually thinks GoM hacks (except for trolls) We all recognise that there was a server glitch, unfortunately some people abused that glitch more than others, but a few does not a bad server make.

Can we all just stop the QQ and the hacks/spies/teaming up (not sure what gom and hod beef is, but trust me, NSP will fight both with equal respect, we never want a repeat of what happened to us)

I do notice that our downtime seems to correlate with GoM uptime and vica versa, that is unfortunate, But the keeps were by far not defenceless, 2 days ago we fought for almost 2 hours in GoM keep

Can’t really say for sure as I wasn’t really a part of the pvd discussion but I took comments on both sides to be light hearted trash talking. I say that because it still seems like they respect each other and are just laughing each other off.

NSP abused us while we tried to hold SM. Once HoD had SM for a bit every one pretty much went to their standard corners and tried to hang on to what they had. Good times.
Barely saved the keep from those mean ole NSP zerg trying a bum rush after taking SM. Got to the Lord but didn’t get him down. Phew.
Seemed pretty even, in numbers, out there most the time. Hope everyone had as much fun as I did tonight.

And It is good to be home. I missed you guys. Yeah someone actually paid to come WvW on Gates of Madness. Crazy I know, no one ever said I was all that bright.

Looks like our doors didn’t put up much a fight for you today, Rob. Maybe tonight when GoM logs in, we’ll build some spikes on ’em or something.

Muni’s team got all the action, screenshots, and cool stories tonight. We had to settle for making up our own.

Here’s how things looked for those of us playing defense:

1. Knocked out a few jumping puzzles to stock up on blueprints and get ready for a night of awesome fights.

2. 12:03 AM – No sign of awesome fights. Built an offering to Great Lord Flame Ram in hopes that He would send us some worthy competition.

3. 12:25 AM – Great Lord Flame Ram failed to deliver. We have resorted to staging illegal golem/guard cage matches to pass the time.

4. 12:40 AM – A lone HoD elementalist appears! Overjoyed, we gave her the chance to duel what was left of our gladiator golem in single combat. Since Pierre is bad at golems, the fight was short and the result predictable.

5. 1:07 AM – Two NSP stroll by looking for their missing golem. We quickly change the subject and distract them by throwing an impromptu fight club. Much fun and amazing fights were had all around. NSP suspects nothing of what really happened to their golem.

I do agree on this one. There was a time last week where someone brought a whole mob of people late in the last week against DH from a boss event to attempt to take SM from them, and it was prolly one of the first times we ever had a que for EB for a nonweekend day. More LA advertisements!

That was Thursday night. Wide Charr and Laura brought in that PvE crew right around the time we were doing our jump/smash event over at Ogrewatch. We had so many people around that we were able to push DH and HoD at the same time and neither side could stop us. We need more nights like that.

I think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen people cheer for a queue.

I think you need to focus on #2, Lights. The rest of your questions are just jabs at the very audience you’re trying to recruit. :P

I think mainly we’re looking for advice on what we can do as WvW players to entice our heavy PvE population into trying out and sticking with WvW. We don’t want transfers or to cherrypick guilds from other servers. We’ve got plenty of people. They’re just all currently interested in doing other things.

We’ve taken a few steps such as having a commander bring a group of PvE players to WvW after completing a Jormag event to reclaim and defend our borderland. That went particularly well and people were pretty excited about being involved. It helped that things went really smoothly for that campaign and the puggers were able to take a bunch of objectives with minimal risk of dying.

We’re looking for more ideas along this vein. Any success stories out there from other servers?

I think the bottom line is that it makes it harder for players to log into WvW and understand where the front line is at.

We should be making it easier, promoting more battles, not harder, promoting more PvE “ninja captures”.

That’s a good thing two-fold. If our pugs don’t know where the front line is, they’ll ask and end up getting assigned to more important tasks than running in a blob. And if it’s not clear to our own players where our front line is, the opponents sure as hell won’t know either.

WvW is about points and holding objectives, not two armies running at each other in an open field and mashing buttons. Combat is an important part of the game, yes, but only if used to serve a purpose. Otherwise, it’s just sPvP on a bigger map. Causing a ruckus at a south tower and tying up your enemies’ reinforcements while a small team secretly flips an opponent’s keep… that’s what makes WvW fun.

So, people can get PAID to Kaineng through the brackets again?

tbh all I could think about was how happy this patch would make GoM.

On the bright side, you guys are moving up and will be a little more prepared for this new meta than other servers after having fought against us for so long. Mobility and misdirection are two of GoM’s strongest qualities, and we’ve definitely noticed that DH’s response times have really improved week after week of facing us.

Several weeks back, we had an NSP/GoM/AR match-up that was pretty rad. Good fights and nice people all around. The only thing I’m not looking forward to about playing against NSP again is the strong off-peak crew, though. You guys are going to get a ton of easy pvdoor points from both GoM and HoD, and that’s just no fun. But we’ll be looking forward to the rematch, regardless.

That, and I believe Rob still owes me a duel.

I figure since the servers involved most for this matter likely visit this thread, I must ask; “Do the other servers still resent GoM for the fact that people used flying hacks or just hacks in general?”

I ask this because I only recently started playing WvW after getting to 80 and I love it. But my freinds in the our guild talk about transfering servers for various reasons but probably most for the consequences hacking has wrought on our server.
I am personally under the opionion that at this point it no longer matters but I’m curious to hear opinions from the other servers.

I’m just trying to keep people together here.

I doubt it. There was a good bit of animosity towards GoM early on, but people eventually realized those same flyhacking and orb exploits were taking place on every server. Not sure if those originally responsible got banned or quit (popular theory has it that the flyhackers were jumping from server to server just to stir the pot), but we definitely paid the price for it in the long run. GoM was the first server to suffer a huge WvW population drop as our early prominent guilds wanted to dissociate completely from that checkered history and start fresh elsewhere. We’ve been trying to re-build ever since.

Here’s the tl;dr edition for those just tuning in:
Prosecute is mad because he got killed in a pvp area and decides to form a mini-alliance with some HoD guilds to make GoM mad in return. Succeeds in creating dissension on both his own server and HoD while GoM collectively shrugs and goes about business as usual. HoD hosts a hugfest so everyone can go back to being bff’s. Meanwhile, Acium makes a play at forming an alliance with the forum moderators.

In a shocking M. Night Shymaleen twist, it’s revealed that Prosecute is a former Kaineng player. Credits roll.

Thanks for the info, Flinch, but it really doesn’t change anything about the match-up.

We spend most of our time bringing the fight to the points leader and trying to chip away at their score, HoD is content to just play for 2nd, and DH has the numbers to do whatever they want. By server mentalities alone, this often puts us in 1v2 situations anyway, with or without a public alliance. We expect that, and we welcome it. And if we got under some guild’s skin deep enough to make them resort to asking another server for help, then job well kittening done, GoM!

Aaahahhaa. [Abys] Got tired of kittenfooting around trying to get our bay back. We kept sweeping the majority of your defenders off the bridge in inner to give the “Alliance” guys a chance to take it, but they decided that going for front gate was a plan. And we were all perfectly fine until we noticed that the 30-40 of them had been somehow wipsed. So, yeah, 9 golems. [Abys] doesn’t kittenfoot around when we need to get our stuff done. I was that first golem!

And all those trebs at garrison! We smashed at least six of them on the cliffs at one point, then came back later and broke some more. Also, almost every arrow cart and flame ram we’ve run into the last couple of days has been upgraded to superior. Is there a siege sale going on over on DH or something?

It doesn’t take an alliance or even a cease fire. All I’m preaching is that if you notice your opponent doing something that HELPS you, use common sense and leave ’em the kitten alone.

Simple example: HoD is hitting DH’s borderlands hard. GoM can either go grab free stuff in HoD’s borderlands (which will cause HoD to stall out in DH bl and return to defend, which leaves DH with high PPT and minimal gains for HoD/GoM), or GoM can go wreck house on DH’s side of eternal battlegrounds (splits DH forces, both GoM and HoD benefit from higher PPT, and DH has to spend more time recapping before making their own push). Which sounds like the better plan?

Please post your build, too. I don’t feel I am contributing enough to my team against a solo player and would like to improve.

This pretty much sums up my point. DH stomped our territory in EB while HoD took our borderland. Now that our players are logging in and starting to reclaim our borderland, DH has started to push HoD (who are caught between defending what they took from GoM as well as their own land).

End result: Easy victory for DH.
