I understand how most Tpvp necros want to start a match or upon repsawn be at 100% lifeforce. However I doubt that is a change Anet is wanting to make right away or at all. Other classes will start to complain that they do not also get 100% of their mechanic bar filled too. What I think Anet CAN do to help in that regard is making the amount of lifeforce generated by things dying around the necromancer a lot more. Especially for targets the necromancer has damaged previously.
On the subject of BiP, please Anet just take the chance and up the damage of the dot and shorten the duration time. There is really no point besides a dungeon boss that a 30 second bleed is appropriate at all. Also rethink putting the might gain onto scepter #3 attack instead and giving BiP back its lifeforce generation.
Don’t get me wrong i like the change, however it feels like you are trying to help 2 different playstyles by changing ONE ability. Better to put the burst damage to conditions on a scepter attack ( scepter #3 I’m looking at you! ) and put back the life force gain on either a dagger offhand skill or something like that.
Maybe I’m just QQ’ing though. Shrug.

Do not be afraid to pick a build based on what you ‘think’ you would like to do endgame and start building to that. Personally I did not find that my ‘build’ while leveling was really hurting/helping my leveling speed. Your best bet is to just mix and match stuff as you level for what is easiest and works well for YOU. You can always respec at 80 when you are done =)
Anyhow check out those posts as they have a wealth of knowledge available.

The problem with the duration for BiP is that they seemed to of balanced it around how much condition damage was average for level 80 necros. Since the skill was changed to make builds feel more burst like, wouldn’t it of made sense to just shorten the duration time for the bleed associated with BiP and thus make it a true bleed burst skill along with power gain?

I have been crying all over these forums since day 1 for the devs to give us some way to make condition damage also feel a little more “bursty”. While so many of you are in disagreement with this change , I welcome it. Was it a change that I am 100% satisfied with? No, mostly because I feel the power increase should of gone on a scepter ability instead of a utility ability. I also don’t think changing BiP to no longer give life force was a wise choice.
Perhaps some of the changes they have down the road for us will compliment these changes we are seeing now.
Please keep in mind Anet if you have a design scope in mind, now would be a good time to share it with us. The Necro forums are not filled with patient smiling people.

As was said before it would be a painstaking process for them to add in a completely new dot type ( disease) In order to please us in this respect. Yuki’s idea of adding burning into our traits / and or our weapon abilities would be best. It would give us some semblance of doing better bursty* damage. Which once again I am all for.

Yep, I am starting to resent my Asura necro, mostly because of the way she looks wearing male gear. So last night I started a Norn female necro. Would love to see some pics of any other higher level Norn Necros to help me be motivated to actual level another necro. Anyone?

Also if you rolled one, how do you feel about your height in pvp ( WvWvW) and such? Do you get stuck in jumping puzzles often etc etc?

While I am not sure what the best way to implement something like this would be, I have to agree it would be a welcomed change.
Either necro could use another condition damage so that we could feel a little more viable in fights – or – Give us some way to stack bleeding faster and higher than what we currently can do. ( the 25 stack limit to 30 or 35, and making bleeds stack 2 bleeds instead of 1).
Either way, something should be looked into here.

He can’t play the way he wants because that’s NOT the game. The game is GW2, not I deserve to have ANet as my personal video game studio.

He is being punished by unnecessary arbitrary systems.

He is not asking for a personal game studio. He wants to play the game in its current form minus the ridiculousness of the DR system.

A system that is supposed to punish bots but instead punishes everyone else instead.

Most people get around it by simply switching to a different zone. Forstgorge or perhaps even WvWvW to farm.
Shrug.

The endgame gear is already ridiculously easy to get. What in the world do you need all that money for?

Why do you care what he want’s it for? Why can’t he play the way he wants? Making a silly list of things for him to do is not a solution. People should be able to play how they want.

We are all being punished by this stupid DR and Dungeon system because of botters and exploiters. The result is people are playing less, less likely to spend money in the gem store, and less likely to recommend the game to other people.

Was funny to see people like you defending SWTOR right to the bitter end.

Sorry you feel like I personally defended SWTOR or that you know what kind of person that I am.
If my post offended you, quite sorry as it was not meant to. I just wanted to shed some light on the reasons WHY the the DR might of been put in in the first place. I.E forcing players to find new avenues of what a dev would consider ’ fun’ in a video game. No where in my post was I defending Anet for doing it. heck, I dislike the bot code just as much as the person next to me.
And as for me asking WHY someone would need to farm the money or items. I asked because I currently don’t feel the need to farm…so…hearing from someone who does would help me to understand his situation.
Please don’t mistake someones curiosity and willingness to help or discuss a situation as then defending something you are against.

While I understand you guys are frustrated because you cannot play the game ‘your way’ …Anet really is just trying to get you to play more aspects of the game. Instead of trying to be the first on your server with a legendary just do things that you enjoy in the game
Do a dungeon
Do some heart quests
Do some tpvp
Do some spvp
Do some WvWvW
eventually through just ‘playing’ the game you will reach your end goals of getting your legendary, or amassing so much gold your are Scrooge Mcduck. they built this game for you to have fun. I think they are just trying to nudge people to go out and actually have fun in the game.

Now if your idea of fun IS to go out and farm mods until you are that first person with a legendary etc, then I am very sorry, and it currently does not seem possible for you to have fun with the bot code in place.

Some people I have talked to generally switch between farming mobs in Orr > World vrs World >and Frostgorge to maximize profit and minimize the bot code. You might give switching it up a try.

Ok…so the necro in the video is you Forice? Just because you happen to of done well in tpvp does not however mean this build ( your build) is going to be good for anyone else. No we will not be dueling because there is no duel feature in the game. You should of learned this by now.
Just last week you made posts complaining about how weak you were doing direct damage and how no one wanted you on their tournament teams. Now this week you are all of a sudden the undisputed KING of 1v1. The grandmaster of ‘purely normal’ damage .

Trouble getting drops in large events

You will need to do more damage. I always recommend going through Orr with a group of friends as it will increase your drops. I tend to put up 2 wells on my bar along with the Asura racial ‘well’ whenever there is an area that waves of mobs come to I setup shop and drop wells, use staff abilities, and utilize deathshroud aoe as much as possible.

I can't make any money in this game due to mechanics...

Everyone complains about not having hundreds upon hundreds of gold sitting in their bank.
What do you guys really need all this gold for?
You can outfit your char in ‘endgame’ stuff by running no cost dungeons , or no cost events in the world.
I have yet to find something in this game that requires tons of gold, besides the cultural vendors…which I dont think were put in with the intention of people getting the full set 1 month out from the start.

A Well that Bleeds

Well….i guess you can sort of get bleeds from a well with the well of power by converting regeneration to bleed…shrug?

How would a well like this work? Have it place a stack of bleed on anyone inside every second? Or perhaps anyone in the circle upon each tick gets a full stack of bleeds that refresh on each pulse? Cool idea none the less. I’m sure there is some weird design reason they didn’t add this is as it seems like a very obvious choice for a well. =(

Easy fun friday question:
Do you prefer to stay with the main group, knocking down towers and capping supply camps en mass?
Do you roam the map solo taking sentry points and collecting resources?
Do you roll with a small group of people doing supply camps ?

I roll with a small group tagging sentry points and sometimes the odd supply camp. I feel like going minion master or sometimes support/cc builds help a bunch in smaller supply node groups…anyhow…

While I agree some of these abilities are in need of some kind of change, are these changes you’re suggesting based upon how YOU as an individual play the class or are you basing them on how the class should be played as a whole?
Example:
Signet of locust: you want it to be reversed. I cannot understand why. What is the reasoning behind this? Why do you think overall necros need a way to passively take life from enemies?
Spectral walk: Why do we need this ability to grant us stealth also? I understand why stealth is a benefit to anyone but what would necros gain by this change except making other classes call for nerfs? The ability already is giving life force and a, in my opinion, rather long amount of run speed also.
Overall what I am saying is can you explain some of the reasons you want these particular changes to the class. Would love to hear your feedback.

The problem with something like this would be…epidemic. Necros would be able to spread those conditions and quite possibly become unkillable life gaining monsters. Or they would put something like this in and it would do maybe 5hp a tick per condition . No one would be happy with the result. Either necros would feel it was a waste of time or other classes would think we were overpowered because of it.

And not because what you suggest would really hurt the game, it would help it..agreed.
it’s because the vast majority of MMO developers purposely design their games to have freely obtainable(gather, trade, loot etc..the typical methods) incentives or highly sought after items. When they do this, they create an artificial market with supply and demand. Then come the gold sellers.

Some games have avoided this pretty well … but clearly it’s obvious when development teams want gold sellers around..it’s a dirty underhanded two way business.

When they talk about gold spam prevention, you can believe it’s through lying eyes and a fake smile.

If not, then why do they design the games this way?

How do game devs design games this way? I’m curious to hear from your expertise how they utilize this two way business to their advantage.

Necro in my opinion is decent to play on all fronts. Be it World versus, pve, spvp, or tpvp. The sad part that you will find is that you must work around glaring bugs and weird builds to be decent.
You will be frustrated.
However most here on these forums will tell you , the class is still very much fun to play.

I think going beserkers for dagger/dagger ~ staff would probably be best. However I would never ever recommend a necro go dagger at all in world versus. At best I think you will find your ego boosted by the single kills you will get from roamers. At worst you will feel slightly useless in the main attacking force ( being short range).

Either way, try out beserkers and good luck!

I really wish our staff auto would always continue through targets for a minimum range and then dissipating if it hits no other enemy targets thereafter. I love the fact that it hits multiples in its line right now but in order for that to happen you need to target someone in the back lines and hope they don’t go running off into the distance or off to some side. If they changed it so we could still attack a target closest to us and the grasp would continue on for a bit if there was enemies behind , i would freaking love that.

I agree, I do love it but it really sticks out in comparison to the other minions. I think it’d be pretty sweet if it looked like a cross between a standard flesh and bone minion and the nightmare style creature from GW1; make it fleshy with a death aura type visual effect on it.

But if not that’s fine, I do kind of enjoy having Blinky and Blinky Jr. (minipet shade) follow my necro around :P

Best thing is World vrs World for me. If i could find some of my old WHA guild ’ Hammer n Anvil ..I’d be in love…Otherwise the thing I do not like is the draw distance/ player loading in World vrs World. Makes it frustrating when you think you are chasing one guy only to have his 30 buddies load in around you.

So I just spent 3 hours in Arah. Had a great group but couldn’t get the last boss under 50% HP. That last boss is pretty tough… is the easiest way to get Condition damage, toughness, and precision now running TA? Is that our only hope? I want exotic gear only so am I down to 1 option now?

Um, you also have khilbrons set you can get. Also the temple karma merchants in Orr sell light gear that is itemized with condition damage/precision/toughness.

Because of the fact that no one can inspect other players in this game. I have taken the liberty of becoming a rune addict. I sometimes switch mine out to different runes and combinations 3 or 4 times a night. Sometimes I will go for condition damage + vitality or toughness. Sometimes I will go for precision or different effects. the cost of runes on the TP is relatively low in my opinion, so take advantage of that fact and mix and match them and try them all. shrug.

K, so i did a search and am still looking through some bwe1 footage but I cannot find what it is that the OP has described. In this video that you linked to around 1:53 you can clearly see her using the staff and the necrotic hand coming out during the autocast.

Sooooo…for kitten n giggles….if no one ever removed our bleeds condition duration would actually be better right? But because of the amount of removes in pvp, both self and group/area…condition damage takes the cake here, right?

So my question is this, at what point does it become better/worse to stack condition( or bleed) duration over condition ( or bleed) damage? This is in regards to playing a spec like conditionmancer or a heavy bleed stack build.

Bonus question: would necros having a master trait that makes bleeds immune to remove effects be too OP? Discussion?

1 being a self-heal actually makes it quite potent since it helps bring you back faster when you’re being resurrected and can keep you from dying longer (the latter at least in PvE). The fear is in line with other interrupts in the downed state.
If anything, the downed state of the more powerful classes should be brought in line with those of the rest. Mesmers in particular can stay up for absolutely ridiculous amounts of time due to their broken 2 ability.

True, perhaps it is more of a problem that the other classes should be brought down a notch instead of reworking all the others. Our downed state is actually good for pve as some have said, just feels very much below some of these others in pvp, which as you pointed out , they really need to be brought in line with the rest. Shrug.

Flesh Golem

Those people that have the flesh golem at that level are down leveled and actually are higher level people just playing in a lower level area. You will get the flesh golem when you can start putting points into your elite skills and gradually build up to it.

I don’t believe the OP is wrong. I think our downed state abilities are quite ‘meh’ and lacking. Just because downed state isn’t high on everyones list of things to be fixed about this class or looked at does not mean that it does not deserve balancing and tweaks just like the rest of the necro bugged/ not working/ and baffling skills.

I completely agree. Other classes downed states far surpass ours. I think they did this as balance around the deathshroud mechanic.
What i would really hope for is for our downed state to cause anyone attacking us or stomping to gain bleed stacks over time, or some sort of escape mechanism like the mesmer etc.

World Vrs builds without epidemic might not be great at spreading conditions to enemies, but there are lots of other things they can be doing in pvp like helping supply lines, manning arrow carts or other siege equipment.

WvW builds without epidemic – Just different than others.

Low compared to total health (although damage too, as it does barely anything). Lets assume somebody has 18,000 health. Hitting for 25 is 0.13888% of that.

I now feel very lucky that I have not as yet dived into the abyss of unsatisfactory lifesteal necro builds.

+-25 thats still a horrible hp steal per hit.
If i were going to balance it out, i would think it would need to be drastically upped to about 2% per hit. Give or take whatever the average hp total is for necros across the board.
