You can’t choose map at ranked solo arena. so it is imposible to abuse Skyhammer. It is totally random. it can be any map. if you are new in pvp. if you can’t counter that situation like you have wroten – it is your problem. You are low not other is OP. If you are noob you will always lose. Your post seems like you are asking good player start play worse against you. You ask another player start afk at arena if they see you at enemy team?

I would to see you counter vs engi with Mine. Mine and mine’s F-skill rip off your stability and other boons, then has many knockbacks and pushes in 15s. I would love to see you counter that
. But I know the answer already. So yeah, Skyhammer point A and point C has nothing to do with skill. It has to do with lucky dodges and over 9000 seconds stability.
This is happening to me for few times by now.
Happened to me pre-patch aswel so it’s not the patch.
Getting randomly kicked from the game. After restarting either client or pc, it still doesn’t work since I can’t even log in anymore. Everything else with internet still works, so it’s not my modem, nor connection..
The length I can’t log in is very random: sometimes it’s 5min, other times it’s 30mins.
Either way, seeing from a Group on Facebook, it’s not just me having this problem..

Remove boons and conditions, they work instant
It tries to use player run custom arenas by design. The hot-join arenas are just custom arenas that we run, and are not treated any differently.
If we can’t find a custom arena with available slots, we will spin up another one and start placing players there as well.
If you want to keep people out of your arena, password protect it. If you want to exclude it from play now, then disable progression. If you want progression, you have to accept other players coming in.
With no “available slots” do you mean servers need to be 20/20? Who goes spectating a hotjoin match 5v5 with 10 ppl.. Or does it start another server when Anet’s custom arena’s are 10/20 full? because in theory, it’s full aswel because we can’t play..

All of them last game was today as I explained. It’s a very huge difference while we mostly play together. But this week the ranking went way out of eachother. And we mostly play only together.

Hmm, I did play a match the night before with one team from a friend and we lost it. My friends (which I eman my team then) have more tourni games played in total still. But we started same time with tpvp today and ended at same time still. They had always more games played in total, but weeks ago it was 100 places max difference for months in a row. Now its just very big difference.. Like over 500 places somehow..

It has been days I’m seeing weird stuff going on in Leaderboard.
Today (after few days break due Easter etc) my team started Team Arena again, like we’re supposed to every weekday.
We were all at same ranking (95% – 97%) before we started (due our multiple days off, our rankings went down). After 6-7 matches, we finished our event. We had only lost one match.
Afterwards I waited ’till the Leaderboard ranking refreshes.
Came to see that my ranking went to 97% (+1% since I was at 96% before we started with Team Arena training) and rest of the team went back to top 500.. I was with them all matches.
Can anyone explain how Leaderboard actually work? Because I really don’t understand this anymore.
All the other times (speaking pre-patch) we ended up being around same ranking on Leaderboard or was max 100 places difference in our team.
But 97% for me while all other are top 500.. What?
Actually, decap engi or bunker guard in the enemy team makes your team play way more different. Thiefs already in most teams nowadays.
+1. Get them banned from any other tpvp matchfor 24 hrs if they’re idle for longer than 30s. With idle, I mean not leaving base for 30s.
This is to all afk’ers aswel, 50% of the matches I play has an afk’er.. There goes my ranking and Champ Titles..

As a novice PvP necromancer, I can tell you when I use minions, I suck against AoE damage and 3+ people. But that might just be me.

I agree completely. You get kicked for inactivity in other parts of the game, why not have that system in place for PvP matches?
It is in place in PvP matches but the afkers bypass this by pressing any button once a minute.
Thats why I recommend having a new afk system. Like “If still in base after 15s, kick and instant replace”.
They should make it so that if people click Play Now, and there is no available left, they should create an addition server.
Unless there is a bug, it should already be doing this.
the system probably works fine if ALL the servers are full, thing is ppl what to play 5v5 and all 5v5 servers are full, if you press “join now” you will end up in a 8v8, what er are suggesting is that wen all servers of one kind, in this case 5v5 are full (or populated, meaning no empty 5v5 arena), an empty one should be automatically generated. That is not happening, so… I’m guessing it’s not a bug….
Or, when 5v5 servers have 10 players, it should be considered full. Spectating should be an extra option or a seperate list of servers where we can spectate. If we press Play Now, it means we want to play, not spectate. Waiting untill all servers are full (eg 20/20, meaning 10 people are spectating + 10 are playing)to have a new server proc’d, that’s just so wrong and makes us waiting forever. Custom Arena and Spectating should be split from Anets PvP hotjoin Servers. Gonna be more easier to see what game has a place to join aswel. Instead of waiting half hour ‘till one server has free spots (eg 7/20), join it and end up being spectator and wait because it’s full (5v5)..
The very real problem is not in it’s community. It’s in the match-ups. Example: I was top 400 Solo Q for few weeks in a row pre-patch k. Patch came in, boom, getting teamed up with people who don’t know anything about Team Arena or Solo Q or it’s teamwork. Capping one freecap with 4. Staying there waiting.. Now my ranking is 9xx or lower.. Why do ranked ppl get matched with unranked r5 players anyway? There is a reason why Anet removed the ability to see other ppl ranks after the match. They knew ranked ppl were gonna rage because they’re losing their leaderboard ranking so Anet decided to hide the problem. Match ups should be based on tourni games won/lost ratio or something. I love new people in PvP, really. But I rly hate having beginners in my party when i’m competitive. It’s just the same the elitist PvE’rs wwant experienced +5k AP zerkers in their party to do Speedrun. They get what they want through LFG. Let the PvP’ers have fair match-ups then..

Custom Arena is a must for every decent WvW/PvP guild/team to practice. It’s not the Custom Arena’s fault you’re landing there when pressing Play Now, blame the Play Now System. I don’t even get how you can even be mad at Custom Arena’s for that..
They should implent something like “when no buttons pressed and moved from base for 15s”= kick and replace instantly.

I just started doing Map Completion for the second time for 3rd and 4th Legendary but atm, I’m more spending time looking at Map searching those last little symbols then actually doing the Map Completion.

See it as a positive thing; as you got 2 real legendaries, you can put whatever asc stats u feel like for free.
If someone wants to have same ability as you without the legendary’s stats but only the skin, he would need to make +10 different asc weapons and pay for gemstore +10 times.
Not that bad ok, but will also fill up inventory, to keep one or two for pve, 2-4 for pvp (soon) and some for wvw. And this is only calculated on one character.
Someone with a genuine legendary will come of cheaper at the end still since with the balance patches, nerfs and buffs, its always possible you’ll need to change build drastically. Well guess what, u just need to right click your real legendary and change stats while the other one has to make asc wep first and buy tokens to transmute it.
Second, be proud of what u have since you’ll still have 2 purple pieces to link in chat while others are gonna be stuck with pink items since they’re transmuted.
So you’ll have still the feeling of exclusivity for your own.
I do understand your concerns, I would act the exact same thing, but look on the bright side aswel my friend!

I live in the 1v1 server and PW thieves can kill Mesmers there too of any quality and the PW thief can also be of any quality.
Ofcourse thiefs can kill mesmers, but since you live in the 1v1 server, you must’ve seen how many thiefs also died from mesmers
And for the third time, I agree pw needs to get toned down but Im talking thiefs in general, not only pw , but also d/p s/d.
So it’s quite a shame ppl call mesmer underpowered when they are totally not.
Took me 1 hour to learn staff/gs shatter mesmer and owned in hotjoin/solo q. Took me months to decently play s/d or d/p thief.
The current meta (steal meta) made it easier to learn it but still takes more patience/situational awareness than GS/staff shatter mesmer.
Both are very strong classes to be precise, yet I agree once again that s/p (pw in general) should be toned down. I won’t argue that.

Implying PW is actually meta in high tier thief play. I generally only see PW used by scrubs or in hotjoins where kids can’t handle thieves. PW isn’t hard to avoid, and its basically the only real damage a S/P thief has. Watching a thief spam it just means the thief has no initiative. Once you realize that you can basically just sneeze on the thief to kill it.
PW not OP.
PW it’s mechanic is somehow. When you look at third skill of sword/dagger, you need to press twice to do the whole skill. I would agree something like this should be on PW aswel since stunning, damaging and evading 1.5s long attack is quite overpowered.
It is overpowered because we can spam it, it wouldn’t be overpowered if we could use it every 8s or so. It’s just too much in one single button.
And I kinda stopped playing s/p since it’s so cheesy and people keep complaining.
Go to any of Blu’s streams and watch some EU PvP. You’ll see how disadvantaged the Mesmer is because it is lacking when compared to the thief in multiple ways:
- Survivability
- Mobility
- Damage
Yes, survivability. If for no other reason, survivability. Why? Because a thief can just train down a Mesmer quickly and easily. Why? Because the thief does better damage, has more evades and escapes, and better in-and-out of combat mobility. Create two identical teams, A and B. Team A has a thief, Team B has a Mesmer. Team A will win. Why? Because all Team A needs to do is have the thief train down the Mesmer. Team B now has to exert energies in peeling for the Mesmer, resulting in a loss of resources. The reverse (training down the thief), results in Team B losing resources because the thief has superior escape abilities.
Mobility. SB5 is better than any mobility ability Mesmers have. Stealth+SB5 allows a thief to escape a fight and quickly decap a node before people realize the thief is no longer fighting.
Damage. Like I said earlier, thieves deal far more damage than Mesmers overall. Especially the autoattack. I mention the autoattack because it requires no initiative and allows the thief to conserve initiative for escape and/or burst.
@Shockwave. If you don’t think Mesmers are a roamer class, you really haven’t played PvP in this game and definitely have not watched any high-end PvP gameplay.
I would love to see u spam auto attack with a thief vs shatter mesmer. Pls show me.
All comparisons done here in this thread are followed to be in the most perfect situation, where the enemy doesn’t attack you. While in the fight, u barely hit the mesmer with your auto-attack. Invalid argument. This whole thread is.
EDIT; all what thiefs has and mesmer don’t, doesnt make mesmer useless or underpowered at all. Does thief have clones? While dodging? While attacking? Does he have clones doing conditions AND damage? Does thief has conditions removal (null field) for the team? Does it? Does thief has fast long range pressure as mesmer? Does it?
Like I said, this thread is useless because ppl are comparing attacks and damage while you are forgetting what mesmer has but thief doesn’t. All classes have something the other one doesnt.
I do agree pw needs to be nerfed still.

Yes, Thieves and Mesmer compete for the same roles and yes, Thieves have an easier time applying their damage.
But they also pay a price by having much lower base-line survivability.
Even a glass-cannon shatter Mesmer has a decent base-line survivability thanks to their Illusions and shatter skills. Mesmers are unpopular focus targets for a reason. They also get to apply much of their damage passively, in the form of Phantasms, while being able to do something else for a moment (like revive or stomp).
Mesmers also have their Portal, which means near-instant relocation in the right scenario.
The only defense and 10/30/0/0/30 Thief brings to the table is his offense. When focused they drop much faster than any Mesmer.
Point being, Thief and Mesmers are different classes with different mechanics. Thieves just happen to be more popular and more “workable” in the current meta. But it’s not because they are somehow overpowered or Mesmers are somehow underpowered.
It’s just that the meta has no room for sort of hybrid builds. You’re either as bunkerish as you can be or you are as bursty as can be. And in terms of burst, nothing beats a Thief due to the way the class works.
