What you guys think about Binding Jeopardy? Even with Wrath of Justice (immobilizes) trait is still weak. You could use scepter and hammer to boost up, but is only 3 stacks of vulnerability on 10 seconds.

They should put Blind Exposure instead.

Binding Jeopardy will most likely to be a dead trait as is now.

Binding Jeopardy will do the exact same thing as blind exposure do right now, but they buff it to work with immobilize too. The reason why it will be use less is because it’s now a master trait in competition with Zealous blind. All GS + X build will take Zealous blade before Binding Jeopardy, which mean that it’s limited to build without a GS.

No. Thief and Elementalist have a really low survivability (both in PvE and PvP) to reach their top dps. It would be kind of broken if Necro could have both a Top dps and a good survivability (because of their deathshroud).

The problem is that if the entire team is not outfitted for maximum damage, it greatly reduces the group’s success chances as a whole. Max damage only works as long as your active defense (aegis, blind, stun, etc…) hold out. Once those run out, you start to die, which is why stuff needs to die quick.

Since one dead-weight player can bring the whole group down, people are strict on requiring zerker gear.

Not true at all.

1) If the team is not outfitted for max damage, it greatly reduce the group completion speed. But there is NOO way it will decrease the success chance. They will finish it without problem if they know a little bit the content. The old meta wasn’t full dps and was still view as the best approach back then, when we started the game nobody was full damage and now a good amount of ppl still like to play not full damage and they all success without problem. It’s all about speed, not success.

2) Good zerker player can solo almost every single dungeon/fractal (with some few exception). If you die because one person isn’t full damage, it’s because you are a bad player with full damage build that’s it.

I think having absolutely no utility or group buffs is bigger justification for being the best dps profession in PvE.

Maybe, but then Necro would need to have a serious nerf to their survivability to be balanced.

Then Mesmer will remain in the dumpster where it is.

Strange, is taht the dumpster where we pull multiple of the same profession for speed runs out of? Are they hanging in there with Ele/thief/war?

Mesmers are anything but trash, they just have the worlds worst profession mechanic.

Don’t really see how their proffession mechanic is the worst. I think they kind of balanced them wrong though. They basically balance mes for max dps, ignoring that it has ramp up time and is mitigatable by aoe/offense.

That’s it, it’s just completely impractical. The amount of times you can actually reach your potential is very small. And even when you do you’re mediocre

Yup. Mesmer are balance for PvP. They have huge burst of damage with their illusions. But they have terrible dps. Now even with 3 phantasm up they are at the bottom in term of dps. They should be one of the best dps profession for PvE since they can’t reach their max potentiel all the time.

And this is why the zerker meta receives so much hate.

PHIW does not look down on people who min max but the zerker meta people look down on us for choosing not to do so to the standards of the zerker meta.

Who know that these two statement contradict themselves. PHIW hate zerker meta because they accept it, but get look down by zerker meta??

Nothing is white and black. The majority of PHIW and Zerk Meta player don’t give a crap about what other people are running. Most of them just pug and go through the dungeon with no problem even when they play together. Most Zerk Meta are not 100% optimized and most PHIW don’t play a full cleric staff guardian either. They are closer what we can think after looking at the forum.

Then you have those who don’t care about the other group, but don’t really want to play with it. PHIW that don’t want to skip, stack, hear about dps or revive dead zerker. Zerk Meta that don’t want to carry someone with bad dps or profession that don’t use advanced tactic or bring the utilities/support that he expect from other profession.

But finally you have toxic people on both side. PHIW that create anti-zerk/meta subject every single day and hate on it like it’s something that broke the game and should be ban. Zerk meta that are look down and think they are better than everyone, talking about dps all the time and view any non meta build as pure garbage.

Nobody group is more or less at fault than the other here. Just more or less toxic people on both sides that kind of ruin it for everybody.

Guardian Meditation pvp "meta" build nerf?

in Guardian

Posted by: Thaddeus.4891

Thaddeus.4891

What you think will be the new Medi Guardian meta? Radiance/Valor/Virtues or Valor/Honor/Virtues

Radiance give
- Blind on F1, which recharge after a kill
- +15% crit chance with our scepter or Gain fury when we hit a foe with 3 stack of burn
- Immobilizing with our F1 or +20% burn duration and Zealot Flames when we crit
- +25% crit chance against foe with burning
- +33% burning damage

Honor give
- Vigor on crits
- Shield of absorption and boons when reviving ally
- Heal on dodge
- Aegis heal or might on crits
- 15% endurance regen when F2 is passive
- +3000 hp or Symbol are larger, longer and heal

Which line will dominate? Obviously Radiance will make us better at bursting, but honor will give us more sustain, which may be necessary since we gonna have less defensive stats.

Going into honor may also give us enough sustain to take Virtuous Mallet instead of Absolute Precision. Reduce cooldown on Hammer 2, 3 and 4 is nice and Slow is a powerful condition

Did you at least try to find a nice guild? My social interaction with other people in the game is mostly with TS, followed by Guild chat and then sometime there is an interesting conversation in map chat or say chat (mostly in a city or during World events). And I’m sure most GW2 players are like that. If you don’t make a little effort to find a guild and only relying on map chat, you won’t have much interaction.

Map chat is like talking to stranger in the streets. From time to time you found someone nice to talk too, but most of the time people get stuff to do, already have a conversation/activity with friends, or find you weird. It’s only in event when people get together for a specific activity that talking to people around you make sense.

I won’t speak for dungeons, because that is so easy, probably anyone should be meleeing and try to do max dps.

But purely speaking for high level fractal. Most pug are doing so poorly on boss fight, 5 bearbow probably out dps them.

So when it’s easy it’s ok to try to max dps, but when there is a little difficulty we should just lay back, relax and range? What about Warrior, Mesmer and Thief that just have kittenty range option? Should they range too or should they stay alone in melee getting all the hits while you range from 1500 range away?

That’s why I don’t pug fractal, people are lazy. They prefer taking 20-45 more minute in range, than trying a little challenge in melee against some fractal bosses.

it will add to the LB cooldown bonus, and it should. it should apply to any weapon skill.

That would mean that it’s 66%+20% =86% cooldown reduction. It won’t change much anyway since rapid fire is a channelling skill so 66% or 86% cooldown reduction will equal the same result. 66% will mean you have to wait like 0.5-1second before your second rapid fire, while 86% will mean that your Rapid fire will be ready before you end your first rapid fire.

Future
Healing signet passive : ?
Healing Surge with a Shout build (Shoutbow) : 306-470hp/s

The new change give more diversity with the healing skill, which is good. But if nerf HS for more than 9% it won’t be use in most meta build.

The new Quick Draw in PvP

in Ranger

Posted by: Thaddeus.4891

Thaddeus.4891

I didn’t really followed the Ranger subforum since the trait change announcement but I didn’t find any discussion about that particular trait. I’ll talking about Power Ranger in sPvP and the new Quick Draw trait.

Quick Draw : When you swap weapons your next weapon skill used recharges 66% faster.

I’m pretty sure that it won’t add to the 20% reduced CD on Longbow, but still that double Rapid Fire will be way too devastating. I hope that this only work when you are in combat, because if not you will be able to swap to Longbow and cast 2 rapid fire with a cooldown of 3.3sec for the second one. I run Power Ranger myself, it’s one of my 3 main in sPvP and I know how much it’s vulnerable even if it have such a great range damage. I usually feel sorry for people crying about power ranger because I know it’s a L2P issue, but that change can be abused so much.

I’m not against the trait itself, but it need some serious limitation. Like I said, it should only trigger while in combat. This will limit the situation where a ranger can just get into a fight and double rapid fire right away. The Internal Cooldown is 9sec right now, which is too much if you ask me. Maybe 20 or 30sec will make that trait less OP and more difficult to time right.

What do you think? Does the new Quick Draw will be OP in the hands of a Power Ranger?

Anyone think 66600 venom share thief will be so strong?

1.)Ice bow 5> basilisk venom (10cc)> one more cc> icebow 5 again to stun boss for 10+ secs
2.) sustain up to 10 stacks of might, depends of how many venom you equip
3.) 20 stack of vulnerability for 10 secs every 32 secs
4.) around 6000~9000 heal every 32 secs to whole party
5.) great chill duration, which is useful in fotm
6.) mass immobilize for mobs that love running
7.) leeching venom is very effective against husk/building

In addition, we have increased stealth duration and stealth while revive.

1) Icebow will be nerf and the new Defiant bar will change how we use icebow
2) Phalanx warrior keep it to 25 might
3) Elementalist have Glyph of storm. Thief, Warrior, Elementalist and Guardian all have a good vulnerability sustain, so there isn’t much problem about that and Engineer is a beast at giving vulnerability.
4) Heal why?
5) Not really
6) Not a real problem
7) So is power attack

With a full zerker gear, it won’t be bad. It won’t be the best either.

But dungeons are 3 years old so everybody expect pug to know at least the basic about dungeons. If you are new you really need to specified it in your LFG. Otherwise you will get ppl that expect everybody to do their part in the dungeon and can get angry when they figure out that ppl don’t know the path and said nothing.

The thing is that the way the old trait stats come now mostly from gear give us way too many precision.

In the best case scenario right now you can have 300 power, precision and ferocity. But 500 stats point need to be from something else.

With the new system 148 of these 500 pts will be vitality and tougheness, but the remaining 352 will be transfer to power, precision and ferocity with a full zerker gear. And this number can get as high as 900 stats point for some other profession. Getting 352 to 900 additional direct damage stats is a huge power creep for Dungeon meta.

Right now only Thief have a high precision in dungeon meta and that’s mostly because of trait. After the trait change, most if not all profession will have a high enough precision that most critical chance trait will be useless.

In a 30 second rotation, wouldn’t you get at least two chances to swap to each weapon and need to cover what happens in the second GS rotation? The Mace symbol will recharge faster in that 30 seconds time than the GS one will.

Not really because that’s the rotation (it may change when we optimize it, but roughly)

- Mace 2
- GS2, 3, 5
-GS 4, GS 1, GS 1, GS 1, GS2 or GS 1, GS 1, GS4, GS 1, GS2
- Mace 2, Mace 1, Mace 1, Mace 1 Mace 2
- GS2, 3

By that time you have more than your 30sec.

Why would camping mace beat the greatsword when greatsword still has access to a symbol and better damage coefficients on the skills ?

If you’re in a PUG with no fury right hand strength MIGHT make it superior, that’s a maybe, not a certainty unless someone has done the math. RHS + 25% + 50%+ will be 90% without fury. Of course the alternative to RHS is potentially 80% fury so…

This, including higher symbol uptime on Mace. I believe that the 7 second weapon swap is going to limit one’s ability to apply a symbol when you are on the second GS rotation because it’s still on cooldown? If that’s true, your rotation is going to force you to camp mace for two-ish rotations anyways. Mace2 -> GS 2,3,4,5 -> Mace 2, Mace #1 filler, Mace 2 -> GS 2,3,4,5. Some theorycrafter will revel in all this detail.

We won’t really give any detail for the second GS rotation because DPS are done with a 30sec rotation, which is before we run out of symbol with GS. Some specific math will need to be done for longer fight.

And, we’ll also have longer symbols and faster recharge on mace symbol with honor line. That’s mainly why i was curious Thad, I haven’t sat down and done the math on how you can space them out but I imagine with honor line you’ll probably have a couple seconds at the end of the GS rotation without a symbol, then basically full uptime on mace.

Without the Honor traits we’ll have some downtime on mace and even more on GS.

If you accounted for that though, cool.

Like I said I didn’t went into super detail. I didn’t account if a symbol end in the middle of an attack for exemple. I also didn’t make a video of the new rotation to make sure the time was exact. But when you use Mace 2, then switch to GS for 2, 3 and 5, then 2-3 GS auto-attack before using GS4 and GS5 again. The end result is that only 1-2 auto-attack from the GS weren’t under a Symbol. But I’ll have to do more testing eventually to see that in detail. For exemple, maybe that the GS5 won’t hit while I still have a symbol up.

The rotation will be super more impotant than now to make sure that your Symbol uptime is as high as you can.

Anyway Jerus, the Rotation that I made was to make sure all the hard hitting skill were done while a symbol is up. So the added symbol uptime from Honor line wasn’t as important as it seem. Most of the attack that I can make while a symbol is up with Honor line are auto-attack and that’s why the difference between 6/6/0/0/6 and 6/0/0/6/6 isn’t that high.

The dmg from Greatsword is too small. It takes a full Whirling Wrath to pretty much equal that of a Mighty Blow. Not to mention the CC is also worse. I think 10% would be fine.

Whirling Wrath have a coefficient of 2.8 with zero projectile, while Mighty blow have a 1.75 coefficients so no. It’s easier to land all of Mighty Blow vs all Whirling Wrath, but that another story.

If you use the same rotation yes. But by starting with Mace 2, then GS2, 3, 5, then GS4, etc you can keep a symbol uptime high enough that Hammer isn’t really much better than GS + Mace/Focus. I did 6 Coefficient. One with Mace attack, 1 with Mace attack while there is a symbol, 1 with Mace Symbol attack, 1 for GS attack, 1 with GS attack while there is a symbol and 1 with GS symbol attack.

I also made my own rotation to optimize the symbol uptime.

Did some basic math. It’s rough and a lot of speculation. I assume that all stats we got from trait will be distribute. This give some freaking high number in Power, Precision, Ferocity. Add that to the additional trait you can get and it’s a huge power creep.

GS + M/F 6/6/0/0/6 : 15 K DPS
GS + M/F 6/0/0/6/6 : 14.4 K DPS
Hammer 6/0/0/6/6 : 15 K DPS

This only include direct damage since we really don’t know what will happen with condition. This take into account full buff without a Ranger. These number make me doubt myself. The additional Power, Precision, Ferocity stats is really higher than I expected. Maybe they will tone it down a bit, or we simply have the wrong idea about what they will do with this exactly.

It seem that Writ of Persistence (Honor) vs Radiant Power + Retribution (Radiance) give around the same DPS boost. But I end up with 91% critical chance with the 6/0/0/6/6 build, while Radiant Power give 25% criti chance. So if we end up with less stats on our armor than we except, then 6/6/0/0/6 could get an advantage. Again, i’m maybe all wrong with my numbers. So much information lacking yet.

Zealous Blade : I’m ok with this trait. GS is already a great weapon. They could remove the heal altogether and it would still be a good trait with only a 5% damage increase for the GS. Remember that GS is already a powerful weapon.

Symbolic Avenger : At first it seem like an OP trait and it’s not far from that. But at the same time it give a completly new way of playing. You want to maintain as much symbol as you can and it will not only change which weapon are the best, but will also change our rotation. Now I think that they should rather nerf the guardian somewhere else and keep SA like that. This trait give another layer to the guardian gameplay and make it more fun.

Healer’s Retribution : Randiant Power + Berserker Gear + Fury = +100% critical chance. In dungeon, Inner Fire and Right Handed Mastery are useless and Healer’s Retribution is the best choice. It doesn’t mean that HR is a good trait, but it will be part of the dungeon meta if nothing change.

Radiant Power : It’s an OP minor trait. It make a lot of other trait useless in dungeon setting because it boost you to 100% critical chance. They should make it a Grandmaster Major trait or change it to something like 15%, not 25% critical chance.

Retributive Armor : It’s a great trait, but there is no reason to take it. For PvE, there is no reason to take this trait line except Retributive Armor and for PvP Monk’s Focus is more appropriate. Either put that trait into another line (Virtue or Radiance) or change some of the adept and master trait to make Valor line a good option for Dungeon.

Honor Adept and Master trait need a rework. PvE Hammer build will need that trait, but no Adept of Master trait are worth it in that line.

Let’s compare Icebow 4 with Meteor shower.

Icebow 4 have a coefficient of 0.88 and 24 impact for a total coefficient of 21.12
Meteor Shower have 1.30 and 24 impact for a total coefficient of 31.2

But the Radius of Meteor Shower is 0.33 larger meaning that against a boss Icebow will be able to land all 21.12 Coefficient, but the meteor shower will probably just land coefficient of around 20. Frostbow also give Bleeding.

The additional advantage of Frostbow over Meteor shower is the cast time, which is 1 full second less. In the end Meteor Shower on a boss have 4-5 Coefficient per second, while Frostbow have 6-7 Coefficient per second (+bleed). It would be fair that frostbow have a coefficent per second of around kitten

Icebow 4 should have a damage coefficient per impact between 0.55 and 0.7 compare to the current 0.88. That way, Icebow is still worth using, but it’s a bit less powerful. Which in the end is probably a good thing.

We could still go lower if Anet really want it. Lava Front + Auto-attack is around 1.6 coefficient per second. Between 2 and 4 coefficient per second for the Icebow would still mean that it’s worth using it as a burst. That would mean a coefficient per impact of 0.3-0.55.

In the end, if they nerf it by 66% or more, Icebow will be useless. If they nerf it of 37-66% then it can be worth using but we gonna need if Signet of Fire or Arcane Wave is not a better choice. If they nerf it by 20-37% then it will have the same use as right now.

I disagree about the retaliation trait. GS + Mace/X build will certainly take Virtue as a trait line and Virtue of Retribution is one of the minor trait. This give 3.25sec of retaliation each time you activate a virtue. Against a boss, you won’t have a high retaliation uptime, but against a group of mobs, F1 Spam will probably give you perma retaliation.

I agree that Healer’s Retribution and Wrathful Spirit are too weak. But Healer’s Retribution will probably be the best choice anyway by lack of anything better. In a dungeon setting the elementalist will give perma fury so Inner Fire is useless. With Fury+ Radiant Power + Zerker gear you will already be at 100% critical chance, making right-handed mastery useless too. This only leave Healer’s retribution, which will give a bit more retaliation to activate Retribution.

New Guardian Tips? - What Should I Know?

in Guardian

Thaddeus.4891

AC will be the first dungeon up on the list. At 35 you’ll be appropriately level’d for both the story and Explore mode of the dungeon. Retreat, as usual, deserves one of your slots. WoR will be great as there is quite a lot of projectiles through the paths. Purging flames is going to be another skill you’ll want to bring into dungeons as Guardians generally get the task of condi clearing.

As you do not have certain Radiance traits yet you cannot effectively “spam” blinds.

Alright, so my utility bar will be: Shelter, Retreat, Purging Flames, WoR.

Question: What exactly do you mean with the blindness stuff? I guess I’m asking because if the blinds are ineffective, would I be better off running scepter + focus or mace + focus?

The blind stuff is the combinaison of 2 traits.
Justice is Blind : When activating Virtue of Justice, nearby foes are blinded.
Renewed Justice : Virtue of Justice is renewed when you kill a foe.

Virtue of Justice is your F1. Each time you press it you blind people around you and it recharge each time you kill someone. That mean that you can spam it when you fight a group of mobs. Meaning that you can spam blind in some fight. It have nothing to do with your weapons. Blind is ineffective only against boss, but then you can’t spam F1 anyway. The F1 is really against groups of mobs, which are affected by blind. In these situation blind is extremely powerful.

Scepter have only two role. 1) It’s the highest dps weapon against large slow mobs (there is really few of those and you won’t see them until you reach level 80) 2) It’s a secondary weapon for those that need a range weapon to survive. So your goal will be to only use scepter in those specific fight, but the majority of time you don’t want to have a scepter. Of course since you start and you won’t be able to stay in melee all the time, scepter is a good traning weapon. You can go in range if you are in danger.

Right-Hand Mastery is useless in that build.

Fury + Radiant Power (Randiance Grandmaster Minor) give you 45% critical chance, that’s enough to reach more than 100% with Beserker power. You already waste a lot of precision. Maybe full berserker won’t be the best setup for a guardian depend on how thing are at release. A couple of power/ferocity/x gear should replace some berserker pieces. Ideally Power, Ferocity, Condition if they ever put that setup in the game.

To replace Right-Hand mastery, Healer’s retribution that give more retaliation would be a good choice. AW will always be a better choice over Perfect Inscription. PI will really only give you 36 more power when you use Signet of Bane.

I understand what you are saying but Elementalist is already by far the highest dps profession in the game for PvE. And when you look at it we don’t know yet if that’s gonna be a nerf. Yes we lose some stuff, but we gain other stuff too. Staff build will be buffed for exemple and it’s already the highest dps build for Elementalist. And we still don’t know what will happen with condition which may matter now. If it end up a nerf for Elementalist it really don’t seem big and we still gonna be on top of the dps chart, i’m pretty sure of that. Let’s face it, Elementalist is kind of an op profession right now.

Is D/F Fresh Air (pve build) getting nerfed?

I got around the same numbers than Quin. I end up with a 10% nerf for direct damage only. But condition will change a lot guys, a lot so we can’t really check how much condition damage we will do. The adept trait in fire could give us condition power based on our power (which is pretty high).

Yes it look like a nerf right now. But we’ll have to see, maybe that condition damage will make up for the difference in direct damage and I just can’t believe that they won’t change the Ferocious Winds trait. Gain ferocity based on a percent of Healing Power??? That’s stupid, most build that would take that have zero healing power. Maybe the nerf isn’t as high as it seem, even if they don’t give us back 10% dmg while attune to air. We’ll have to see what they gonna do with condition.

I went through all the info we got yesterday, but mostly guardian since it’s my main. While trying to theorycrafting I end up using trait that i didn’t want just because it was the only option far too often. More often than I do now.

I think that the new system will work just fine. But they decreased build diversity for the sake of simplicity (was that a real problem?? It sound so made up, never heard the complain that trait are too complicated on the forum and people complain all the time about everything), but they improved it at the same time.

I still have the same opinion than before. If only they left the system like it is now, just remove stats from trait and rework/merge trait that are bad/useless.

I like the Symbolic Avenger + Writ of Persistance combo. Hammer will now not only give perma protection, but also have a perma 20% damage modifier. We’ll have to see, but maybe Hammer will be the new meta.

I also like the 10% damage modifier when you have retaliation in combinaison with the minor from Virtue line that give you Retaliation when using a virtue. F1 spaming will be a lot stonger with that. GS + Sw/F still have some trick up its sleeves.

H/Vi/Z and H/R/Z will both be pretty good for that.

Virtue give you MoC, but Radiance give you F1 blind spam and more dps.

Ascended Gear useless after HoT?

Ascended rings practically grow on trees, and amulets are also fairly easy to get. If living story is a good example of things to come, then it looks like ascended asscessory are also on track to be common.

What are you even talking about? Ascended rings cost 35 laurels, or 25 if you also spend a ton of badges. They are pretty expensive to replace. you can get seven unidentified dye for 35 laurels, which is like 5.6g.

Again though, cost is irrelevant so long as it is not zero. ANet is making this change, whatever the cost would be for players to correct for the change, ANet needs to pick up that tab.

35 Laurels can buy you 105 tier 6 fine crafting material or around 35 gold.

except, before i could have just jumped in for cantrip reduction and got out of the line.

but as you say, no increase in viability here.
now in the old system, them buffing or changing some traits could have created more options. but since the options are so limited, nothing really changes, except you must fully commit to water now for cantrip buffs.
There can never be more options for this trait line. it basically has one dps option, one healing option and one utility option.

I agree about the fact that being limited to 3 lines suck, but you were talking about the 9vs13 choice of trait. That particular change I found wonderful. The 3 lines, that’s another story.

But even that. The number of build using 4 or 5 trait lines is really rare. It exist and it suck that you can’t do that anymore, but that’s not a huge decrease in build diversity. It doesn’t change the fact that I think it’s a mistake, but the new system overall will provide more build diversity, it’s not a perfect system and I hope they will change it a little bit, but it will still be an improvement compare to the current system in my opinion.

Ascended vs Exotic, new stat distribution?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Thaddeus.4891

Personally I don’t care about that aspect. I crafted 4 ascended armor knowing that it was only a small increase in stats. Ascended gear was a mistake from the beginning anyway, it limit build diversity. Ascended is not really friendly for using different build or rune or alts.

I agree that ascended gear was poorly implemented. However, it is in the game, nothing can change that now, so I’d personally enjoy it more if it was slightly more effective.

I don’t really care either way. Like I said I have 4 ascended armor, I either play with an ascended armor or in sPvP so it doesn’t affect me. But a LOT LOT LOT more ppl would be kitten by it compare to the number of people that have the same opinion as you. Or at least the number of people that would be kitten by it are a LOT LOT LOT more vocal.

why not just have your friend suggest two new ones.

some people prefer the girls others dont like.

you get 4/12 guy who likes something you hate has 3/12 etc.

Let’s stop with bad comparison. We can see what’s the real implication with Water.

We had 3 Minor trait and 13 Major Trait.

- 2 Minor trait stay the same. 1 Minor trait exchange place with a grandmaster trait.
- Trait 4 and 5 stay adept and get buffed.
- Trait 7, 10, 11 and 12 stay the same
- Trait 6 and 8 are now merge together as a Master trait.
- Trait 3 and 9 are now merge together as a Master trait.

What did we lost? Trait 1 and 2 only. Trait 1 is a falling damage trait. I’m not sure what they will do with it, but i’m sure they won’t just delete it. Maybe they will transfer it to another trait line, or do something else with it. Trait 2 was absolute crap and nobody in the history of gw2 was using it. So in reality we didn’t lost much, if anything at all.

But with the second option, ascended will stay as strong, while exotic will get nerf and it’s the best way to kitten some people off and QQ even more on the forums.

It’s also the best solution to make ascended statboost be worth anything in the first place. Currently, working hard to get ascended gear is one of the most unsatisfying, most unrewarding experiences in this game.

The 5% boost tries to appeal to both types of players: it’s not too high so the anti-vertical-progression crowd doesn’t gets too mad, but it exists so that vertical progression crowd has something to work for. However, it ends up appealing to neither of them. Its very existence is already annoying to the first group of players, and the boost is too low for the second group of players.

I’d rather want them to make the gap bigger, even if not by much. Say, up to 10%. Still tame, still kind of unsatisfying, but at least it’s noticeable enough.

Personally I don’t care about that aspect. I crafted 4 ascended armor knowing that it was only a small increase in stats. Ascended gear was a mistake from the beginning anyway, it limit build diversity. Ascended is not really friendly for using different build or rune or alts.

I’m not sure if I understood correctly; will the +30% condition duration from traiting Zeal and +30% boon duration from traiting Virtues be lost after the new trait system comes?

That one of the big question remaining. They simply didn’t talk about those in particular.

My guess is that they will improve greatly gear that give those stats (giver), which are terrible bad right now because they give so small amount of them. If they do that, they will probably introduce a couple of new stats combinaison with those 2 stats in them.

Will we see a Condition Damage, Condition Duration, Precision set?

Just to make sure, you saw that they are re-working the trait lines now too, right? So the current 6/6/6/0/0 may not be what you think it is. Or it may be. Personally, I’d avoid theorycrafting until we know exactly what the heck is going on But, if that’s your cup of tea, go make it

Ya i know, but they will still look like the trait line we have now. Valor will still improve meditation, honor will still improve symbol and shout, etc. Some trait will be deleted or merge the but trait line will continue to improve the same area as they are now. It’s just for fun, while we wait for more information.

no comments on some stats being profession specific? i would think that would effect dungeon meta maxers a lot.

Those stats are hardly relevant. And half of them are getting implemented baseline. Thats a buff to most builds.

well its not clear exactly what they mean with the profession attributes, if its like thieves get 150 more precision that might be huge, but that would seem odd.

hopefully they explain that better today.

150 Precision have nothing to do with this. For Thief is would be the cooldown recharge for the steal.

But guys we already have good information about that. Elementalist attunement recharge time will be improve by 15% (half of what the arcana line can do) and you can receive the remaining 15% simply by choosing Arcana as one of your trait line. We can guess that it will be the same principle for all profession. All profession will have their base profession attribute boosted by 15%.

Ascended vs Exotic, new stat distribution?

Thaddeus.4891

It depend on how Anet do it. We get 1400 pts right now with max trait. 296 of those pts will now be from base stats, which mean about 1104 pts will come from gear.

Will they add those 1104 pts directly to exotic and ascended gear. Or will they add them to ascended and then use pro rata for every gear under ascended.

The first option is the best by far. That way someone with full exotic won’t lose pts. He will get pretty much all the points he add from trait into basic stats and his full exotics. This way in absolute Ascended will still give the same amount of additional pts vs exotics.

But with the second option, ascended will stay as strong, while exotic will get nerf and it’s the best way to kitten some people off and QQ even more on the forums.

Actually it is crystal clear that we will lose diversity in the way the OP describes, the medi guardian build will be impossible, yes builds will be adapted but there will be inherently less build diversity and less choice.

Not true. The exact same medi guardian as we know it won’t be possible, that doesn’t mean that there will be less build diversity. Yes the 3 traits and the fact that you can only take grandmaster trait on the third slot decrease build diversity, but at the same time the removal of stats for trait line and the fact that you can now take 9 major trait will increase the build diversity.

Sure ideally they should leave the system like it is now, rework trait like they plan to do to eliminate useless trait and make all trait meaningfull, remove trait stats and give use 18 traits points (or leave it at 14 if they want). But the system they propose won’t give us ‘’inherently less build diversity and less choice.’’

What IS the end game content?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Thaddeus.4891

Thaddeus.4891

Like others said, the end game is was you want it to be. In my guild different people have different goal and they evolve and change over time.

- Some are into dungeon. Some just like to run them, other like to run them for the gold, other like to speed run throught them setting up a group and improve themselves, other like to solo them for the challenge.
- Other are in fractal. You can just want to reach level 50 or find some specific fractal weapons. Some just like to run it everyday, other want to speed run it to the max.
- Plenty of people go after achievement. They want to be on top of the achievement board, or just have a good amount of AP, or just be higher than their friend.
- Some are completionnist. They want to fill their wardrobe or their mini collection, etc.
- Some like to level up different character up, like a lot of characters.
- Some go after cosmetic for 1 or more character with legendary, expensive exotics, etc, etc.
- Some prefer WvW casually, or maybe they want to become a commander, or just help their servers as much as they can, or maybe they want to get into a zerg bursting guild.
- Same with sPvP. You may like to pvp like any other multiplayer game, or you want to make or get into a PvP team.

If Virtue work like the exemple they give about the Elementalist then I guess that our base virtue recharge rate will be

Justice : 25.5sec, if you take Virtue trait line : 21sec
Resolve : 51 sec, if you take Virtue trait line : 42sec
Courage : 76.5sec, if you take Virtue trait line : 63sec

To make things better looking
Justice : 25sec, if you take Virtue trait line : 20sec
Resolve : 50 sec, if you take Virtue trait line : 40sec
Courage : 75sec, if you take Virtue trait line : 60sec
