How does credit work when you do story line ?

Normally, you get a pop up window saying something like “You have the choice to get credit for doing this story step, too, even if you haven’t opened the instance” after you’ve finished the instance.
The not-in-sequence part is intended to not count for you I guess, since PS (vanilla and HoT) seems to have a forced order, unlike LS chapters.

“Untethered” seems to be fixed now. At least theres now a “Qualified for Untethered” sign. I’ll report soon if it worked as intended now.

There are many bugs that are known since the launch of HoT… and still aren’t fixed.
Well, I’m logging in at the moment and will take a look around for some unmentioned fixes, but my expectations are low…
You can start each episode individually. Even though it’s not making that much sense storywise.
It’s not a real problem if you, for example, complete VB on all of your chars (I have 9 and it gave enough XP to get me way ahead of what was needed).
You need gliding fully completed (up to rank 6) and itzel rank 4 for anti-poison.
I’d next do nuhoch wallows (even though I’m unsure if it’s really needed anywhere) and exalted 1 (or 2?), it’s needed for some underwater part in TD, even though you can theoretically get around that by bringing a friend that has it, but it’s needed for the story too, so…
My order advice would be:
gliding 1
gliding 2
itzel 1
itzel 2
exalted 1
gliding 3
nuhoch 1
gliding 4,5,6
itzel 3,4
nuhoch 2,3
exalted 2,3
And the rest is basically only important for some collections or quality of life.

You can try it by completing 2 random fractals before (so that Solid Ocean will be your 3rd daily, ergo triggering your daily fractal reward. This happens at the second “event fireing”, so you have an indication when you should get the achievement)
Did you possibly left the instance too fast?
Solid Ocean is kinda special since it takes like 20 seconds (after the chest spawns) that the fractal counts as completed (e.g. for daily fractals, possibly for the achievement too), even though there are some things (possibly including the stabilizer achievement, can’t remember) that are granted upon chest spawn.
I have a kinda similar problem:
I’m playing in window mode and my inventory (width: 10 items, height: 16 items) starts at the top menu icons and ends somewhere around my health bar / shortly before my skills. For some reason, it gets switched to 11 items a row after each new login. I guess it’s because my inventory “nearly” clips over the boundaries or something… but it’s kinda enervating. I don’t mind if that’s intended / can’t be changed, but it would still be nice if it could.
Well, at the (last) boss platform. I don’t know the exact direction, but just press Ctrl and look around a bit. It’s somewhere at the edge to the lava surrounding the platform.
(The interactable thingie is called “Boiling Hot Magma”)
A +18 infusion costs nearly 5000 gold, so nope.
I guess I’ll hope for that fractal fix…
On a side note: Make vials / globs / shards of coagulated mists essence drop somewhere else – maybe from salvaged ascended rings or from fractal encryptions. Those are a pain in the a* for low-lucker like me.
edit: thanks Hekela, didn’t know that (I’m not even near lv 100 yet)… kinda strange though.

Okay, hi everybody!
At the moment, we have the following sources of Agony Resistance:
14 infusion slots for offensive / defensive infusions
5 extra agony infusion slots at rings and back
Besides those, you can get 5 AR through mistlock singularities and 10 AR through this potion you can buy in FotM.
Let’s assume you “only” use +10 infusions for the agony infusion slots, since 11 or 12 or even more isn’t really worth it. -> 50AR.
The 14 others give +5 each or +7 each if you upgrade the normal ones -> 70 or 98.
That’s leading to the problem I have at the moment: You can’t reach 150 AR if you’ve used the +5 infusions in the offensive/defensive slots.
I’ve paid tons of money for T6 mats to get those infusions that give a stat bonus ( plus 5 toughness, power, …) besides the +5AR, but I can’t exchange those. I can only exchange the “normal” +5 AR infusions, ergo “my” infusions are practically useless now.
Maybe it would be fair to add a few options to the merchant, so that those more expensive infusions get a +7 counterpart, too. Otherwise my max AR will be 135, even if I’m constantly using that potion.
Any opinions?

5 out of 6 posts are yours? Calm down a bit, lol
There surely will be other expansions. Living story season 3 was already announced to start somewhen in 2016 and it will surely lead to another expansion/dragon.
I’d bet on Primordus next, it could somehow be connected to Rata Novus. Plus, it would be an interesting location change since we haven’t seen much from underworld areas yet.
The rewards got nerved. It’s just not lucrative enough. However, there’s still enough end game content.. fractals, raids and so on.
It’s not his YT channel or anything. Someone is just using one of his videos… wouldn’t call that “hacked”…
I’m pretty sure nobody will buy gold anyway, since Anet seems to delete every gold bought through gold sellers immidiately.
You could try the guardian, too, since it’s a bit more “tankier” but still able to do nice DPS and it’s nice for additional group support, too.
The starting zone is a short instance (at least I think that’s what you mean) that can be left anytime without actually doing it by walking towards the reddish area on your map (the borders of that instance).
Well, what is your favourite playing style? (aside from DPSing)
Any unlimited gathering tool would be SO helpful for my precursor hunt
(Or any mats.. I’m currently in need for metal + wood…)
Big thanks and shoutout to everyone who likes to share their wealth with us!
Patch notes say that this has been patched already with the latest fix.
As far as I know, raids are also addon-gated.
Well, the current max of 161 is strangely unsatisfying, so maybe they raise it to like 200 or something.
I wouldn’t be too sure about that.
a), there would be the need to implement more sources for central Tyria mastery points
b), the raids take place in HoT regions, so it seems more likely that (possible) new mastery tracks would be placed in the Heart of Maguuma mastery section.
Exactly. ^^
Depends on what your char already completed and how powerful he is.
The tyrian hero points are much easier to complete, so you may like to buy maguuma hero points which are harder. However, they are faster, too, so if you’re willing to find 2-3 others to complete maguuma points, it’s better to buy tyrian hero points since you avoid running around from point to point for a good amount of time.
Imagine max level would be 90 now and all your 80 gear would be like 2% weaker.
I’d rage out if I had to grind 9 new ascended armors because of that…
Masteries may count as leveling, but you get more powerful through itself, not through higher level gear. And most of the new stat combos are kinda irrelevant.
I spent my karma on the racial weapon skins. I don’t use them however, so it’s just a completionist thing.
Don’t worry, everyone can get lost in the numbers from time to time.
32 hours non stop map completion without bio-breaks? CoF is still 2x-3x as fast with all boosters and you can pretty much AFK through it on a staff guardian.
But you have nothing than XP from it. For completionists like me and many others, who will do map completion on every toon anyways, it’s kinda handy and more rewarding.
I get around 600k on my revenant too, PER MAP. I’m not using the most efficient routes, but I still finish a map in around 90mins.
(Of course I don’t count cities etc.)
And: The XP is not only increasing according to your level for mobs, but for every XP source. If you want correct numbers, find out how much XP you get for getting 73 level ups on a level 80 char.
edit: okay, too late, everything has been already said :P
So as you can read in the recent blogposts, you can unlock a collection via killing a raid boss. You then have to fill the collection for an armor precursor and you have to upgrade that armor via the mystic forge with some Gifts you can get in the HoT/raid areas.
I just got really scared when I read about their comparison to legendary weapon collections. I REALLY hope that at least the legendary armors won’t be a collossal mat sink, since this is just plain boring.
I’d really prefer hard tasks that need a good amount of skill instead.
I played the story once, then replayed it on the same char. Didn’t work.
I played the story four times with other chars. No achievements either.
I then replayed the story (not with my initial char, more like the second or third one) and it finally worked. Don’t know why, but try it by replaying the story. Maybe you have to try it a few times (?) or with different chars.
Peer Review and my friends the smiths….. also badly bugged. Cant interact with the note just phases out or isnt clickable so unable to start the event for peer review. As for the smiths, the NPC’s dont seem to show up to revive. So much achievement bugs Q-Q
It seems that using a char that already did that instance will do the trick for those two achievements.

As far as I know, it’s happening this way: Once the bar is full, the game looks for the mastery line with the smallest level (or smallest needed XP?).
Eg, if you have gliding 4, itzel 3, exalted 1, nuhoch 2, the next chosen line will be exalted 1. If you complete this too, the next one would be exalted 2 and nuhoch 2 after that.
Well, it’s just a different way to aquire it. You can get the precursors for free via the collections if you’re willing to farm a few mats. I’m, for example, logging my wood by myself everyday. It’ll take over a month to get The Legend this way, but it feels smoother than grinding the money instead of the mats and buying it directly. Plus, I like the scavenger hunt and the associated AP.
No, I fear that there isn’t any benefit for you.
Doing all fractals from 1 to 20 doesn’t necessarily mean you have fractal level 21.
Example: You do them in the opposite order: 20, 19, 18, … 1
The first ten fractals will give you a “level up” (2, 3, 4, … 11) but doing the next ten fractals (10 to 1) won’t give you a level up anymore since you only get them if you do fractals higher or equal to your level.
Ergo, it’s possible that you did all 20 fractals and are still below level 21. Check your fractal level inside FotM or by approaching the portal.
If it says 21 (or higher), it may be a bug, otherwise you’re possibly just a few levels short for 21.
Send the gold to me, you would make a day 1 player with 0 precursors so far very happy.
By the way, it’s my birthday today (not lying).
// naah, I’m not begging… cool for you, bro.. one day I’ll get lucky too
I love game story and i’M going to purchase s2, but I found it quite expensive. will I be able to understand what happened on S2 by playing HoT?
Well, there are some summaries, those should be enough. If you want to know what happened in S1 and S2, read my spoiler:
Scarlet Briar, an evil sylvari, got crazy and attacked nearly everything, leading to the destruction of Lions Arch. In the final battle, it turns out that she was corrupted by the last sleeping elder dragon Mordremoth, and she is able to wake him up shortly before her death.
Mordremoth is awake and begins to attack Tyria. We (Destiny’s Edge 2.0: Taimi, Rox, Kasmeer, Majory and Braham, and Canach since HoT) start to explore Mordremoth’s origin on the trail of Scarlet’s reminiscence in Dry Top and Silverwastes. We’re finding a dragon egg of Glint, the dragon that turned against the elder dragons to protect the Tyrian races during their last uprise.
The Pact flies off in the jungle to attack Mordremoth while we’re chasing the egg, and gets totally wrecked. Trahearne and Destiny’s Edge get captured while we’re killing a Mordremoth Champion and finally getting Glint’s egg. It turns out that sylvari were originally Mordremoth’s minions and only the Pale Tree can protect them from their twisted nature – weaker minded sylvari are turning sides and joining Mordremoth’s forces.
Still not sure if just trolling or…
Ohoni, of course those players exist. But where can Anet draw a line? If they want content that LITERALLY everyone can play, they had to consider blind people, people without arms etc.
It’s perfectly clear to me that the amount of players with (lets say) lower reaction rate is higher than those of the beformentioned. But still, what’s your solution? Making every content easier, so that even 70+ age players can do it? I really understand that struggle and I’m feeling bad for them, but nerfing everything to death would destroy much for the rest of the player base (plus, there would be still complaints about too hard content).
@topic: I’ve only done adventures on Verdant Brink and on Auric Basin and yeah, some were harder than others. However, it creates an even greater feeling of joy when you finally manage to get gold. I did shooting gallery today and it was awesome to get it after 1-2 hours of tries.
The only problems I’m seeing here:
a) mastery points for gold… you could simply say “you don’t have to be perfect here”, but those points are making this kinda impossible. Maybe for bronze/silver instead, while gold grants something like a large bag of map currency?
b) huge difference in level of difficulcy – no difference in reward. Some of the harder activities should give more rewards than others. Plus, lifetime rewards could be a “little” bit higher, I mean, come on, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing.
That’s true indeed, with some exceptions (like chests from PvP reward tracks)
The new legendaries require mastery#4
Thanks but there’s still no ETA on a fix.
If you read the dev answer in the linked thread, you should have gotten the info that there won’t be a fix since it was never intended to work in WvW.
<- me too
Spark is a dagger and therefore should be crafted by a weaponsmith.
The description of the recipe is a bit misleading, since it gives you 4 recipes (3 weaponsmith for spark and another one that can also be crafted by artificer/huntsman, ergo all three are stated in the recipe as possible crafting skills).
A workaround: Buy a new recipe (10k karma at the legendary vendor) and give it to your weaponsmith.

I always wonder why everyone is ignoring the fact that you don’t need to play a sylvari, as long as the story opener uses one…
I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE!
Oh, sorry. But it’s true, that bothers me too, so so much. Okay, it’s kinda unrealistic to see the whole map filled (at least in my lifetime), but, well, at least the existing part of the world shouldn’t have those weird gaps.
I’m really hoping for some cool little filler maps (LS?)…Yea I don’t mean the whole world (my god that map in wiki article “the world”) just what we see now
Okay well, my sentence was kinda confusing.
What I meant:
Whole map = the Tyria map we see now ingame
existing part of the world = the maps we can enter – this should be like a growing ball, getting extended by new maps, AND without strange gaps in between.
I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE!

Calm down, it’s currently bugging. You’ll get them back when they fix it
