What a funny tool.
Tried it on 3 photos of my girlfriend (don’t tell her!) and they were rated as 15, 20, 26…
Tried one of myself and it showed 46. (I’m 21…) how harsh! Just because I’m beardy?
Every ascended weapon needs 500 of bloodstone dust, empyrial fragments and dragonite ore. Same for ascended chest piece.
The five other armor pieces only need 200 of each of the above.
So a full ascended armor needs 6 stacks of each.
For Globs of Dark Matter: You need 5 for every ascended armor piece / weapon.
For everything else: For armors, you need tons and tons of expensive silk scraps. A full armor set costs at least 500 gold, I’d guess (light ones even more because silk is so expensive! maybe 600-700 for light ascended armors). Though it depends if you craft everything for yourself or buy things from the trading post. Weapons are around 60 gold/piece, even though it depends on the type (more wood, more steel… bows need leather, too).
The timegate only applies if you craft everything for yourself. The timegated items are the ascended raw materials (Bolt of Damask, Deldrimor Steel Ingot, Elonian Leather Square, Spiritwood Plank). You need 3 Bolts of Damask for every armor inscription, plus some for the other armor ingredients. A full light ascended armor needs around 36 Bolts of Damask alone, so if you don’t want to buy them on the trading post (13 gold per bolt) you have to craft at least 36 days for a full armor.

I guess they just re-used a book texture and that’s all about it.
Traits won’t be removed, they’re just changing the way they are working and how they can be aquired.
No offence, but what’s your point in asking? Just play the game, explore it – many questions will get solved before you even have to ask them.
The addon will take a few months to come out, so you have enough time to explore the core game.
The problem is, people seem to forget that beta tests are always restricted. This isn’t something like a certain item or achievement everyone can get if he just works enough. This is an quantity-limited item. Anet doesn’t want the whole playerbase to get into the next beta, so it’s only natural that many players won’t get in.
That may be sad, of course. But it’s in no way Anet’s fault. You can’t blame someone just because you’re unlucky and others are. That’s life.
Btw, OP: Good luck with your hope on getting an official response….
Yeah sure. You’ll have to explore a bit until you have enough silver to buy some bags.
Micro transactions / black lion trading company mostly sells convenience items like special skins, infinite farming tools etc.
It’s a good advice. You’ll get help ingame – forums are mostly full of whiners, haters and trolls. Well, not everyone here is unhelpful, but you know.
My only advice: Take the class with the playstyle you enjoy most. And buy new bags (10 slots) as fast as possible, because your starter bags won’t hold much.

So, there are eles who don’t run staff builds camping on fire? You’re talking about PvP, aren’t you?
It’s bugging because of the closed Halloween instance in the Black Citadel. Simply waypoint to Dry Top and you’ll see the star at the right place, I guess.
So the recent chronomancer blogpost drew my attention to something else: The cancelled GW1 campaign Utopia. Even though I played GW1 for years, achieving both 50 points in HoM and GWAMM, I’ve never heard of this campaign before.
Only a few things are known about it: From early artworks, it can be assumed that it was planned to have some indoamerican playstyle (like Asian and African for Factions and Nightfall). However, there were a few quite interesting things:
a) The main architecture seems to be a aztecian temple/pyramid thing, very similar to Rata Sum etc. architecture
b) There were some golem-like creatures, but, in contrary to GW2 asuran golems, they seem to be some ancient wardens, left back by some old disappeared race, to guard their old temples / whatever.
c) Well, this may seem a bit like an artifical connection, but “Utopia” can be interpreted as “unseen” – possibly leading to mursaat? Kinda weak argument, of course.
d) From some ingame hints, Utopia may have taken place at the west coast of Tyria – around the Heart of Maguuma?
Now, since Utopia was cancelled and replaced by Eye of the North, leading to GW2, there are some points that make me think.
I have to admit I’m definitely no lore expert, but as far as I know, Rata Sum and other similar places (like Rata Pten) weren’t built by Asuras, but rather “found and taken”. Is there any explanation / hint regarding this in official lore? Was there an ancient race that vanished, leaving their ruins behind?
In combination with the Utopia stuff, there are a few possibilities:
1) Arenanet re-used some of their plans for Utopia in their new campaign – they simply threw off the Utopia story ideas, but used their planned locations for the asuras and changed the golems from an ancient guardian to a high-tech robot golem, created by Asuras. However, not much lore about it. The anagram Rata Sum – Mursaat could be something like an inside joke – IF they planned to put the mursaat in Utopia.
2) They may have kept their idea of an aztecian-style race that left for some unknown reason, leaving their ruins behind. Maybe the anagram Rata Sum – Mursaat is a hint for that? Interesting enough, the mursaat seem to have an outpost/city west of Rata Sum (that gets accessible with HoT) – could it be possible that they left their former city for some reason? (Mordremoth… Leylines… Bloodstone?)
3) Or the anagram could be a coincidence and it was some other race. Maybe Anet has plans on using this secret race at a later time, or it was just an “any race” placeholder that explained the existence of ruins – making it possible for Anet to re-use their Utopia locations.
However, I like the idea that they implemented some of their Utopia ideas in GW2 (and the old Rata Sum in EotN, of course). I’m really interested if some lore expert knows anything more about those old ruins and their connection to GW Utopia and GW2 Heart of Thorns (both seem to be placed in jungle environment).
PS: Sorry for grammatical issues, non-native speaker here.
No, they planned on doing full sets from the start. They chose this order because now, you need a hell of AP for a full set (but the second set is nearly finished, too) so those bring a ton of prestige. The other possibility (one set first, second one after that) would be much easier to aquire plus nobody can see if it’s your first or second set, so the second unlocked set wouldn’t be more prestigeous than the first one, though the needed amount of AP would be very different.
There’s a limit on hero points. What would be the point in giving you 800 of them when you can only use a bunch, maybe 200 or less?
Or other question, what are you doing with your skill points at the moment? The only other purpose aside from unlocking skills is mystic forge items.
1) As a programmer i know bugs happen. Someone said he had luck. So i have no questions any more.
2) Same chances i think. Of course it is 20% chance to get exotic, but it is 5 times cheaper.
Well, it’s a 20% upgrade to exotic, true. But you have to get a Lv80 exotic though for a chance on a precursor.
When you put in 4 exotics of Lv75 or something like that, you’ll always get a Lv80 exotic. If you put in 4 rares (of any level, even 80) you have to get lucky twice: a) get an exotic (20%) and b) get a Lv80 one. So I’d say the chance on a Lv80 exotic isn’t 20%, more like 10 or less.
I’m not sure if it’s working, but you could try to bind clicks to your mouse wheel scroll.
Have never tried it, but should speed things up. I’m pretty sure that it’s okay, even though “every action = 1 key” is pretty hard to interpret for something like a wheel scroll…
Aww
I just heard it from some tester who was able to obtain/use a tome during beta. He got some % on his mastery line and iirc some dev said that those % will most likely get lowered when HoT comes out. But well, Jon should know what he’s talking about, so maybe that has been changed.
They will still progress your character level if under 80. You can level your revenant up to 80 with tomes, but after reaching 80, they won’t give “levels” since your XP will be “converted” into mastery line progress. Tomes used after 80 will give progress (not a full mastery level, but some percentage).
They will give you experience for your mastery paths.
As far as I know they can ONLY be purchased after you got one of it via achievements.
When asked during an interview (with AngryJoe I think?) Colin said that season one is going to be made replayable however HoT is the priority – no surprise here.
So as with the SAB, it’ll take like 3-4 years or something…
Does ANet dev team have a small frog fetish?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Thanathos.2063
It’s just fitting. I’m pretty sure that there won’t be new frog races when we get to see new Northern Shiverpeaks maps eg.
The problem is, those events don’t start at specific times but under specific conditions (pres done etc). So you can’t know if a boss will come before you’re in a certain map.
The only thing that could help you are the timers for the events.
Eg. the Eye event chain restarts 9-12mins after each Eye kill, then some pres will start. Once you did them, it takes another 15-25 minutes until another pre (the escort part) starts, after that the Eye will spawn again. So you can’t say when it’ll spawn, but you can say how long it will take in the worst case (once you’re in a certain map!).
You can try looking on the lfg, sometimes people mention it when one of those “rare” events occur.
PS: For more infos, look at this site: http://gw2timer.com/?page=Chains
There’s a help section with infos (routes for pres and their timers) for most bosses.
Just checked on my alt account, it’s not there. Guess it’ll take some time.
It’s legal as long as you are the only one who uses those accounts.
There’s no limit, but I think there’s some login flood control, so after 20 accounts or so it takes a while to log in.
As far as I know, guilds are separated by EU/US servers. So you can’t join an European guild from kitten server and vice versa.
Will current precursors get cheaper on TP?

a.net really must be stupid to do pre crafting and make the same kitten mistake all over again ! man im disappointed !!!
What exactly is this mistake? Is it wrong to give AP hunters something to do with their collection precursors?
I’m pretty sure that the vanilla game and all it’s versions stay untouched. If you want some extra reward, there’ll most likely be a deluxe version of the expansion.
I hope you at least open the box for some random part selling for 1G.
I did a thread about it earlier. I just keep my boxes and hoping for a change. Would love to see them tradeable, or, at least, to get another (sellable) option (like an ascended insignia or anything).
How about simply restarting the launcher instead of going crazy and reinstalling the whole meaty bunch of data? It’s usually enough.
But you’re already there if you participated in the pres for ele/foulbear. For the commissar, you have to run quite a piece (+ waypoint sometimes)…
There could simply be a hard mode that casuals can do, too.
Like instanced versions of all maps, where every foe gets the veteran rank, and where you have to kill everything (like vanquishing in GW1).
I’d really enjoy to complete the world this way, and I’m sure that even “weaker” players could do that, too.
Well okay, this armor is “special”, so you have to write the name, because you got it from the deluxe version. However, the skins are saved in your wardrobe for future usage, so you actually won’t lose anything if you simply destroy the armor pieces.
You only have to write the names if they’re really important items you can’t get back easily – I would rather store those items in your bank than to destroy them.
Generally I’m doing it this way:
a) Open bags, boxes, containers
b) Salvage whites, blues and greens (for the luck – as a new player, you may want to sell them on the trading post or merchant)
c) “Deposit all materials”
d) Selling junk and useless stuff (green runes/sigils etc) to a merchant
e) Deposit some consumables in my bank tabs (eg. boosters from black lion chests and similar stuff)
f) Sell everything rare or exotic or salvage it if I feel that I could use a few ectos
There’s no need and no logical reason for GW3. They did GW2 because they had too many ideas that weren’t working in GW1, so they did GW2. I don’t think that there are many “new ideas” now that aren’t working for GW2, so I see no reason to develop another game. (Plus, 4 1/2 elder dragons still alive – another time jump wouldn’t seem right)
I’m interested in how he was captured. He seems to have a weakness or something.
Well, first of all: Dungeons and fractals are both suited for groups of 5 players. You CAN start with AC Story once you’re Lv30, but try to look for some 80s player to help you then. You’ll find even most dungeon’s Story mode too hard before you hit 80.
Of course you can try, but it possibly needs hours and frustrating whipes (especially if you’re running AC story without anyone who ever did it and without 80s…)
But don’t get frustrated too soon
It’s all a question of experience (well, and gear) and most players will be helpful and understanding if you put “new players looking for help with AC story” or something in the lfg tool.
To fractals:
It’s similar to dungeons, but
a) it comes in different levels (1-50 currently) – you have a personal fractal level that increases by 1 every time you complete a full fractal run of a level that’s equal or higher than your level
b) every fractal run consists of 4 fractals – more or less randomly selected from a pool of around 10 different ones. The 4th one is always one of three boss fractals
c) from fractal level 10 on, there’s agony – a game mechanic where fractal bosses do immense damage if you don’t have any agony resistance. You get AR by upgrading your gear with infusions – but to get those, you have to spend tons of gold or fractal relics (the currency you can earn by doing below-10 fractals)
d) fractals are much harder than dungeons and only for Lv80 chars.
To the stats: At the current end game, you’ll most likely want to fully use berserk/zerk gear (+power, precision, ferocity), but of course it’s okay to use different stats before Lv80 (especially if you are as squishy as an elementalist).
To crafting:
Well, it’s not really useful if you want to get rich at the start. It costs tons of money. On the other hand, it gives you quite nice amounts of experience to level your character level, plus, it’s one of few ways to get an ascended armor / weapons (ascended equipment is only slightly better than exotic one – but around 100 times more expensive, so stick to exotics when you’re 80 unless you are a real perfectionist or want to do many fractals).
However, you can simply learn two professions and use the crafting materials you find while exploring the maps. For ele, it’s most clever to learn light armor & light weapon crafting (same goes for warrior and heavy armor/weapons). Jeweller & chief isn’t that useful, at least for your first toons.
(edited by Thanathos.2063)
I can only speak for myself, but I like to try collecting as much achievements as possible. With the byproduct of earning money I’m able to save up for some legendaries.
However, it absolutely depends on your playstyle. Not everyone is a completionist like me. Maybe WvW could be your kind of thing? Definitely no solo play, but still a ton of fun.
To the stats: The biggest problem is, that bosses (in open world or in dungeons) do so much damage that it nearly doesn’t matter if you survive 2 or 3 attacks – therefore, vitality (giving more max health) and toughness (giving more defense) aren’t that useful in end content. It’s more viable to focus on damage (power, ferocity, precision -> berserk/zerk stats) and dodge at the right times. More damage -> bosses go down faster -> they have less time to launch their attacks → it doesn’t matter that you lack defensive stats.
However, if you’re a new player and not that experienced with your class (especially if you have something squishy like an elementalist), you can start with something more defensive (eg soldier stats plus some defensive runes like dolyak runes) to survive a bit longer in open world mob fights. If you get used to it, you can exchange one piece by one to zerk stats til you’re full zerk. (Scholar runes work well on zerk armor)
Is it your birthday or your account’s birthday? You only get a present at the second one since nobody knows when your personal birthday is (at least ingame).
Maybe the LS team uses the time before HoT (while there’s no point on a 3rd season before the HoT story is settled) on remodeling season 1? It would be the right timing for it in my opinion – no direct connection to the expansion, plus the timing after HoT would be bad because everyone would cry for S3.
There’s no need to “take back” the items from a used achievement chest.
If someone was at 4300 points and got to 4800 through the bug, he’ll get access to the 4500er chest. After the fix, he’ll be back at 4300 points and his next achievement chest will be rewarded at 5000 points. He got the rewards a little too early, but on the other hand he needs longer til the next one, so it evens out.
I don’t think that the anniversary is a strong indicator for a discount.
At the moment, I see the Complete Collection listed for ~25€ (don’t know about US prices) and that’s a kinda good price for all 4 GW1 parts.
How is this even possible? As far as I know, you can’t take a price lower than the one of the highest buy order…
Does anyone know if newly gained HoM titles are affected as well?
In what way affected? You still get them and they won’t be removed once Anet figures out how to do so. You just have to wait for the fix to grab your HoM skins.
Seriously how hard can it be? I’ve unlocked a dozen more things that I cant get atm. I’m still getting the ap and titles though so whats the point in blocking the skins?
People got the achievements through a bug. The skins are blocked so that those can’t get them, before they set back the achievements for those players. You’re just collateral damage.
No offense, but GW2 is out since nearly 3 years. I’m sure you’ll survive it if the skins are blocked for a month or so.
By the way, I’m not sure if it’s really that easy. Does anyone know an example where achievements got taken away from players? I wouldn’t be very surprised if that would actually need a bunch of work to do. Plus, they have to differenciate between bugged achievements and the legitimately earned achievements. I’m sure it’s not that easy to simply remove them for everyone and re-reward them by the linked GW1 account. It could cause quite a few bugs (every coder knows how results can be unexpected. I don’t know the game code, but a few things that could cause problems: Doubled titles, problems with the AP count, problems with HoM connected items/skins/pets, … )
The best way to do the wurm nowadays is by joining a Community run.
Usually you join them on TS3, they open a new map and give taxis, and they lead the events with a quite nice success rate.
There are plenty of different community TS3s, I only know of European ones. They usually advertise in chat, so just look out and maybe someone posts “3headed wurm now in TS, come join us on …. [TS address]”.
PS: No need to join any guilds or something.
a) there are around 100 threads about that topic.
b) it’s not really fitting in the HoT-forum.
c) it’s over, not much more to say. It was kinda funny and just for a day, so…
