What about the other 9 people that were doing PvP? They were punished by her wonky computer crashing. I’ve had the occasional crash while in PvP and i’ve never once been given the dishonorable condition. If someone is frequently crashing they probably shouldn’t be doing PvP.

The possibility that her system may not be at fault shouldn’t be ruled out so easily, and especially not so condescendingly.

How does it matter why she is disconnecting ?

As I see it, all that matters is that she has problems staying in the match.

You just answered your own question there. Her crashes are the very reason she has problems staying in the match, and those crashes could either be an issue on her end, which may be rectifiable, or a recent update has introduced some instability in the client, which will be something only ANet’s developers can look into. One of these is a potential bug.

Q: how to go to every race's born place.

The Pointless.3869

You mean the cultural cities? Each one has a gate leading to Lion’s Arch (or Vigil Keep for the time being. Lion’s Arch got… blown up. Hard.), which will in turn hold gates serving each of the five race’s cities.

Check your map and look for a purple swirl icon. The gates themselves are big stone circles with glowy purple in the middle. You can’t miss them.

  • Hoelbrak’s gate is to the west, just before the frozen lake (the area should be marked Peeta’s Gate on the map).
  • The Grove’s sits near the northernmost wall, on the top floor of the city’s centre. Just before the long corridor leading out to Caledon.
  • You’ll find Divinity’s Reach in the Upper City. It’s that big central area, and the gate can be found to the south.
  • Rata Sum’s, if I remember correctly, has their gate on the top floor, at the northernmost cluster of gates. You might find yourself on the right track if you spot a resting charr there.
  • Finally, Black Citadel’s gate is just off the south end of Memorial Quadrant.

There’s no level restriction in place, and each cultural city leads to a low-level area. However, the current site in place of Lion’s Arch is in the corner of a Level 25-35 area, so it’s not recommended that you venture beyond the camp while you’re there.

  • Consider eliminating the Transmutation Charge cost display in the Hero: Dyes view and retaining only the Confirm / Cancel buttons. While the cost is always zero (0), it was a little concerning the first time I saw the dialog pop up, and I (albeit briefly) feared that changing dyes would somehow cost me charges — something which might be a bit startling for new players unused to the systems.

This isn’t entirely redundant, though, as a player can select a new skin for a piece of equipment and then move on to dye it without hitting Apply yet, though I do agree that it probably doesn’t need to come up with that message if no charges have been spent.

On the other hand, some people may prefer to be kept at ease and specifically told that nothing will be spent.

The personal story will have an effect on the missions you’re given and, to a tiny degree, some of the content you might see (the appearance of NPCs in future missions, their dialogue in the world, etc), but they will not prevent your friend from taking part in your missions and vice versa. As long as you’re in a team, if one player attempts to enter a mission, the other player will get the option to join in.

I doubt it, since the non-lesser Crystal requires only slightly more materials, and merging two or more lessers into a non-lesser would probably be redundant anyway, on account of qualifying crafting professions being able to craft both anyway.

(Though I suppose there’s an argument for such a recipe if accidentally crafting the wrong crystal is a common occurrence…)

Feature Patch Critique

Posted by: The Pointless.3869

The Pointless.3869

Makes me seriously question the reasons for any of the decisions being made. I would much preferred to have seen it improved. Especially since it is one of GW2’s claims to fame.

According to the Feature Pack update notes, Raid on the Capricorn was little more than an experiment that ultimately didn’t work out. It’s highly possible that there wasn’t much in the way of improvement prospects for underwater PvP, without making things like skills and traits far too situational to be viable or overcomplicating existing systems, but this is just a suspicion.

You mean the Shaman himself, or the events required before you can take him on? The former was updated a few months back, so that he wouldn’t go down in the space of 5 seconds when there were a ton of participants, so he shouldn’t be going down so fast that you’d miss out on credit. If he is, that’s… weird.

I think the prerequisite events might still be excruciatingly quick to drop, though.

What happened to my trait points

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: The Pointless.3869

The Pointless.3869

Traits got something of a massive overhaul, part of that overhaul being the reduction in the points actually needed for each trait. Now, instead of the 5 points that was necessary for each trait, only 1 is needed. As a result, the total points you can and need to earn have been reduced as well.

For the Wardrobe, for every skinnable piece of equipment you have soulbound or account bound will have both its original skin and its current skin automatically added to your wardrobe. Non-bound items in your possession will need to be manually added, though, which will account bind it depending on its rarity (though it’ll warn you beforehand). You’ll need to cycle though your character to make your the game wardrobes all their skins, an pop into Heart of the Mists to get any PvP skins that were in your locker.

Hope this clears things up.

[EDIT] I may have misread your last question slightly, so I’ll also add that you’ll keep all the gear you had at the time of the update, if that was what you were asking.

Exactly, it doesn’t exist solely for -your- opinion

Then you have realised that you cannot voice an opinion and expect those in disagreement to stay silent?

Stop flaming eachother and get off this topic. I STILL have this bug after the supposed fix a few hours ago. Im limiting what dungeons i do so i still have something to do when i log in. Fix this please

The red post specifically said next reset. The update missed the one just been by 15 minutes.

It’s true that many people here feel very strongly about this situation, and my opinion is that asking for a refund of the game or gems would be an overreaction (and I both hope and expect that they’ll reconsider). But remember that for many people, this game is their sole form of entertainment and the highlight of the day. Not everyone’s game experience is as casual as yours (you advised them to “go do something else”), and some people find comfort and joy in logging in to join their friends or loved ones online each day. For those people, this bug spoiled their happy time for a week, so it’s quite understandable that they’re unhappy.

If folks are upset about something, it usually doesn’t help to keep telling them, “Hey, you’re being unreasonable. Things could be much worse, so stop feeling so entitled!”
Honestly, your first post in this thread wasn’t the best way to start a constructive discussion, regardless of how constructive the discussion of others had been.

Let’s hope that we never hear of this incident again after a week or so. That would indicate that either the players affected by it were satisfied with the outcome, or it was a minor enough inconvenience that they chose to move on with their lives. It’s possible that some will stop playing the game altogether as a result of this bug, but I don’t think this straw is massive enough to break the camel’s back on its own.

I’ll agree that my first post wasn’t the best was to start a constructive discussion, but on the other hand, I’m not sure a constructive discussion would have borne any hope of blossoming if I tried.

The amount of rage directed at ArenaNet as “thanks” for actually getting a possible fix out there suggests some of these players might want to step away from the keyboard for little while and take a breather at the very least. Yes, this bug is no doubt frustrating. As much as certain people would like to chill my opinions on the basis that I haven’t experience this particular bug, I have been in similar boats before. It’s infuriating, but at the end of the day, this… is just not worth the anger and stress that people are inflicting upon themselves by hurling all the abuse they can at the developers that likely busted a gut to get to the bottom of it. No game is worth that amount of strain.

Note: players unaffected by this bug should stop posting in this thread, they contribue with nothing except antagonizing everyone affected by this fiasco.

And spewing all manner of abuse at a developer on the basis of an imagined slight against the player base is contributing what, exactly?

Coming into this discussion just to wave around that fact is just you trying to feel superior. It adds nothing.

What it is, is perspective. A few days without dailies is nothing compared to the bigger problems even you yourself have and will experience. I repeat, nothing.

This has nothing to do with superiority. This is all about exhibiting a little bit of common sense.

Please, just cut it out. This thread serves two functions: To let the developers know they’re doing a poor job, and to let us vent about the effects their poor job has on us.

So what you’re saying is, you weren’t affected by this in the slightest? You have absolutely no idea how annoying it is to get hit with a bug that breaks your game, that the devs have been incompetent at fixing?

Why are you even in this thread? Is the thing you like doing outside of this game… giving your opinion where it isn’t needed or wanted?

Why am I here? Because I seem to be one of the few here with the better grasp of my priorities, and the good sense to put such a “game-breaker” pretty low on my list.

Why resort to such a poor form of argumentation? Just because a situation is worse than another doesn’t give the latter a positive value. I’ve had a migraine for the last week and my next door neighbor broke her leg a few days ago. Did that cause my migraines to go away?

Anyhow, yeah: Frustrated; not buying gems ever again; not recommending GW2 to my friends; and such.

Goodness me, the sense of entitlement is strong in this thread.

Granted, there is a bit of drama brought on by the lack of Anet responsiveness.

I have no concept of the amount of coding that must be involved. Having met the Seattle team on launch night, I have every confidence they’re doing their best to fix the technical problems.

People play this game to achieve things. Whether that’s getting that next laurel trinket or crafting your first (or last) ascended piece, or killing a world boss and GETTING LOOT, this game has been increasingly less fun for these people (and disclaimer – myself) for a week.

“Can’t craft my next piece.. I guess I’ll go do dailies. That’s odd – stuck at 5/5 after reset. Maybe I’ll go kill SB. No loot. Hmmmph.”

WvW was not affected as much as I could tell, and I don’t PvP. But PvE has been slowly whittled down to playing the MF lottery and/or upgrading T5 to T6 mats.

You know… ""Fun"".

So, forgive us if we’d like to maybe get reimbursed the laurels we should have been able to earn in the first place. Or maybe just a:

“Hey, we would really like to set things straight – but there’s just no way to determine who was affected. We are really, really sorry.
Love, ANet.”

If that’s entitlement – well, it used to be called customer service.

You get 5 character slots with your copy of the game. Can you honestly say you don’t have any unfinished business with other characters you might have on your account, or considered this an incentive to put an empty one to use?

Goodness me, the sense of entitlement is strong in this thread.

Were you affected by this?

If not, try to imagine what it would be like if you suddenly had your rewards in this game reduced by 90% while the majority of players did not.

Since this bug affected so much besides daily achievements (roughly 5 silver, 600 karma, and 1 laurel per day, for 7 days), like ascended crafting (hard to quantify the value of account-bound materials), home instance mining nodes (at least 30 silver in resources, by my count, per day), world boss chests, dungeon chests and rewards, daily fractal chests, and probably other things I can’t remember. Maybe guild missions, too, I don’t know. But considering that so much of the game is based on a daily timer, it’s really not hard to see why players would be upset by this.

It’s a pretty widely-accepted truth that players like to have goals to work toward in-game. For a week, their goals were taken from them. They couldn’t progress toward ascended equipment because they were denied ascended crafting and laurels. They couldn’t earn dungeon tokens because… well, you get the point.

Imagine showing up to work one day, and finding out that there was some glitch with the time clock system. For the following week, it wouldn’t record your hours worked. The people in charge of fixing this sort of thing finally got around to fixing it after several days, and they said, “We fixed it. It should start working tomorrow evening.”

When the paycheck comes along, wouldn’t you be bothered to find that you’re missing an entire week’s pay?

No, I wasn’t, but someone else in my guild was, and he wasn’t making this molehill into the mountain that you lot are. If I were, yes, I would be irritated, but on the other hand, I don’t make this game my life. There are plenty of things I could be doing until it’s sorted, both in-game and outside of it.

Bugs happen, and it’s a royal pain in the backside to find the cause and fix them in even the smallest of programs. You could test it for days and with an eagle’s eye, but you can always count on something going wrong after it’s been released to the public. Such is the painful nature of software, and we as customers might want to start keeping that in mind.

Has anyone else been working to map those out at all? If not, I can make a (re)start at the weekend, I think. I hope.

You should include “Booze” into the list of consumable types.

Done.
I might get some time this week to look at the new changes, too. Hopefully.

I noticed, but I been a little overworked since before then.
I will have a gander at the changes this week, though.

For what it is worth, I looked into yours and compared it against his.

1. His has a mistake for the “tool” type. It should be “charges” instead of “uses”, so yours is right. Can you fix it for him or tell him?

2. Both of you have the same mistake of listing “Toy” under the weapon type. There is no “Toy”, only “TwoHandedToy”.

3. Minor mistake on your recipe type. Amulet should be listed under Jeweler instead of Artificer.

Nicely done.

1. I’ll try and pass that on to him. [EDIT: Correction made]

2. There are a few entries in the data I’ve got with the weapon type “Toy”, actually. An example of this is the Frying Pan. Not even sure whether it even matters ingame, though, because I’ve not been able to buy town clothing sets.

3. Cheers, I’ll fix that in a sec as well. [EDIT: Done]

snip!

I did get around to adding that to my page, along with the rest of what I could find from the data I’d grabbed: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:ThePointless/APIMap#Recipes

Not that I got much of a response on it on the other thread after the fact, like.

Missing a weapon subtype enum, “TwoHandedToy”.

Who’s version? It seems to be there on mine (unless I’m being an idiot and looking in the wrong place, which wouldn’t be the first time x_X).

It might just be rebuilding itself. It did that before, a few days back, so it might be wise to give it a while and check again. Could be wrong, mind.
