Don’t have this skin unlocked nor have any in storage or for sale. That said I prefer things like this not be made easier to acquire. You want things of value out there like this. if anything would also like to see more ultra rare drops that have limited numbers out that in which people might get lucky to see as a drop. There needs to be things of luxury value in game for people to try and acquire.

And true to some of the above, GW2 is very alt-friendly and differing classes and toons setup means that there are various ways to do things, be that in PvE, PvP, WvW. More options mean more variables which then alters can keep the world/event/fight fresh.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Goals:
- Achievements – GW2 includes Achievement Points that can be acquired by doing various things in game and covers things in all game modes. This is more of a mile marker system for players that is completly optional. For completionists its a bucket list of sorts and has it own leaderboards.
- Legendaries – Are morph-able weapons and armor that require time, coin, materials, luck to make that also have unique skins. Legendaries also require precursors that have their own challenges in obtaining.
- Guild Halls – Guild Halls include their own goals that allow groups of people to work towards building up. Guild Halls can offer boons to guild members as well as places to acquire materials and player buffs. WvW buffs and WvW equipment are also available guild hall features that can allow them to upgrade objectives their guild might claim in WvW that will bolster their servers effort in that weeks match up.
- Home Instances – Home instances are areas that player can work towards improving that can allow them access to in game materials that they can also share with friends and can include unqiue items acquired from various PvE elements ranging from living story events, world events, expansion areas, and from the gem story.
- Loot – For some its all about the shiny. Loot various from trash to precusors, what might you find next.
- Gear – Gear progression is key to both PvE and WvW. Gear ranges from drops, rewards to game mode currency to crafted gear. New sets are also introduced over time meaning what you like today might need to be changed in the future.
- PvP – There are ranks to be made and seasons with leader boards mean that past glories are just that, go and prove your position anew and see how you rank in new ones. With a range of maps and differing builds you never know what you might get next. Unique skins and gear also await as well as player finishers only available here as you rank up.
- WvW – Weekly resets mean that what you own now might need to be fought for a new on the morrow. Ideally weekly changes and new server links also may change your challenges levels. There is also a cost to go to war so be ready to change up your gear, build/acquire more siege and be ready to lend a friend/guild-mate/server mate a hand. Unique gear options are also available that can only be acquired here. WvW levels also grant you boons only for this game mode but will grant additional benefits to your account as you level.
- Fractals – Build up your gear and acquire more agony resistance as you work your way up in levels. Be ready for enviroment and NPC abilities to morph as you go. Unique skins and items also wait that can only be acquired in this game mode.
- Crafting – Crafting is available that allows players to build their own high level gear and create temporary consumables that will increase their stats in the various game modes. Though crafting may not offer profit to some other can also earn coin from crafting that they can sell to others. Crafting has its own levels to work thru and requires people to acquire materials that will be consumed while crafting.
- Reward Tracks – Oh shinny. PvP and WvW both offer reward tracks that are additional loot drops that are granted to you over time for playing the game modes. Some of these offer items that are acquired via PvE for players that are more interested in challenges from others versus from AIs.
- Coin – Gather in game currency can be a goal and game in of itself for those that like to judge their progression on such things. Coin is always in demand how you acquire it is up to you.
- Fashion-Wars – For some its all about looks. GW2 uses a system that allows you to unlock item appearances that can then be applied to the same class of gear at cost of transmutation currency. For some its about chasing down those items so that they can then wear that appearance. Since different items are available only in certain game modes it means players need to adapt/lucky/persistent to acquire ones they want. Fashion-Wars is also a way for people to show what they acquired and therefor done in game.
- Gathering – for some its all about gathering and different part of the world offer different maps. Gathered mats are needed in a wide range of game activities ranging from crafting to siege gear and tactics to Guild Hall upgrades to making money on the Trading Post.
- Gems – Gems are a special game currency that can be used to acquire appearance items, boosters, account services and various services that might aid a player. Gems can be purchased for real money or can be acquired by exchanging gold in game to gems. To some this is another collectible that might be acquired that can show progress in game.
Could probably go on and I am sure I missed things, but as I said its like an onion, there are games here in games and many ways to do things. Key to it all though, is the chance to find new friends along the way and other people to enjoy it with. GW2 is a good game that allows multiple people to enjoy together and some bits of shine all the more when playing with others.
In any case, good gaming where you find it and remember where ever you land to have fun. And limited editing so forgive me any spelling and grammar issues.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Agree with some of the above, no one can make you like a game if you don’t. That said I understand your question is more why other players like it so will answer your direct question. There is also a difference if you are coming at this game as a place to explore versus you had an older game that closed and this is something close but you miss your old home. As an older player there are elements in game that I can complain about but I am going to post this looking at it from a new players perspective.
In the simplest terms this game is an onion. There are many layers and its a matter of determining which layers appeal to you. Does it have its short comings, yes. But that said all games do to some degree.
To me the key is replay-ability and end game. A game needs to give you challenges and allow you to work towards things but also not be ever “over”. Its about the journey. That said GW2 does actually just begin when you reach max level since you have much to do once capped.
To address it in sections:
Player vs Player:
- SPvP – has elements that will allow you to play against others in a close to level playing fields and has tournaments and seasons. No real gear requirements here means you can jump in at minimum level and play against others as you wish. Ranked matches try to match you against people in your rating’s bracket and unranked allows you to try your hand against random opponents that are queuing at the same time you are.
- WvW – Large scale combat against other players where all people on your server are on your side. WvW is an endgame mode where you play against others and gear matters meaning it gives you goals to work towards and weekly matches as your server fights for position. Depending on the server you can find fights 24×7 and the environment is constantly changing as objectives are traded back and fourth. The difference here is war isn’t fair so be ready to face more than just 1 on 1.
- Trading Post – For some the trading post is a PvP environment of its own as players fight for profit by selling and trading goods to see if they can control/earn coin for themselves. Though meant for the role of allowing players to trade goods to others, some players do enjoy “playing” this market and for many this is another form of PvP. Buy low, sell high and try and control it all.
Player vs Environment:
- Storyline – There is a pretty expansive main story line that will progress your toon(s) thru the world and unfold the lore of GW2. Each race has differing elements to offer as well that may offer differing beginnings to players.
- Living Story – GW2 concept that the world changes means that there will be things that have already occurred that altered the world that players now see. Starting just now you will experience a Lion’s Arch that looks much different from older players have known since events have occurred that drastically altered it. You might find other structures in the world that are remnants of past events that unfolded over time. GW2s world changes over time as things come and go.
- Dungeons – For those looking for small group content dungeons were GW2 original take on this and further fleshed out the main story arc but were not required but were addendum’s to allow player to delve in deeper into other NPCs in game. Though ANet has moved away from dungeons they are still good content for those seeking group PvE events.
- Fractals (Fraggles) – Fractals were a way to introduce PvE group content that ANet could then expand on without risking changes to the main story and allow a vessel that scales in difficulty. When first introduced to fractals my first thought was the goal of fractals was to be able to do more fractals. Fractals scale in the sense that at intervals the game rules change and players need to adjust their toons to meant new challenges even though they know the maps and what they will face. There is also a gear progression in this that requires players to acquire more and more agony resistance as they go else just being in the fractals will kill the player on its own. Loot drops and value also increase as the levels increase.
- Raids – Raids are Anet’s answer to people asking to be able to large scale PvE content an offer higher challenges. Its the newest of the PvE challenges and offer its own rewards and also require players to seek higher end gear.
- Live Events – Part of the living story at times will also include world events that might be temporary content that offers differing PvE challenges and might also grant limited time items that plays may want to acquire. These might be solo events, group, map wide events.
- Holidays – GW2 offers Holiday events as well that include changes to some maps and events that might only be available during limited times. There are usually differing activities only available during these events and items that may only be available to be acquired at that time. Holidays might include changes to PvE, PvP and sometimes cosmetic changes to WvW.

Prophecy of Fire
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Admit, excited. Also hoping that at the end we get work on the next XPac. Is it Tuesday yet?
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
With siege, does the timer reset at target destruction or hit? Haven’t really check this yet. If its a lower timer on hit than that makes sense that it shouldn’t be high since you might not be firing for effect anyway and its really easy for people to spoof the system with a keyboard macro and walk away, so you want that really low. Else we would end up with a bunch of afkers on siege firing non stop but not really there. If its on destruction and target hasn’t changed then yeah you are wasting time shooting at a target that’s not there so you are not contributing.
Do a mix of roaming, group, zerg surf, and active scouting. Haven’t seen an issue with decay unless just sitting in an objective, which even if you are reporting movement you really aren’t doing anything that swords on the map wouldn’t have already warned about to one level of degree or another except provide more detail. Active roamers should already be taking a peek anyway when that occurs. I can see the decay when first starting out in a WvW session but once you get going its a non issue unless you then afk for 5 mins, which then you will have to rebuild your contribution. Wasn’t seeing the hordes of AFKers previously but am also not seeing an issue with the decays, we either need to let them fine tune, players need adjust their play style or figure out if people want more afkers or shorter decays. I still like the new system and its adds more fun into a mode that was already fun to play but now its less of gold sink then it was.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Based on the video you make more of a point to buff the rev. Hammer Rev have their own weaknesses as your video shows. If do not already have any counters to power range attacks (not not just rev) in your build then yes you will need to have gap closers. I think if you are having issues with Hammer Rev then Longbow Ranger, Riffle War will also give you grief as well as potentially Rifle Engis though that’s a more rare build now. And there are tells, just more regular ones but Revs work about at the same pace so its a matter of understanding that pace. Play all classes and a mix of builds from power to condi to hybrids on all of them in WvW, I wouldn’t class my Revs higher than some of the other builds.
For my power hammer rev, either condi me, gap close me and power/condi it up, stun lock, or power outrange, all of those can have good effect. If you are having issues in the zerg, then that’s zerg positioning. If in a group, are you or someone in your group not specing as a particular counter, were you not focusing or the caller choosing the wrong targets. If its a solo issue ask yourself if you are specing for a class of target and do you need to spec more multi-purpose. Good hunting.

So much Outmanned pip whinging. This is more venting than constructive, but…
Outmanned is there for a reason. It has 5 pips for a reason.
Why do people want it nerfed or removed? Do you not want people to be incentivized to play against you, even if you have an overwhelming advantage?
The problem is Outmanned PIP bonus is having the exact opposite affect on WvW play.
When WvW #pipstress farmers are on a map, most have a tendency to not call out that a map is outmanned (or wait as long as possible) even though objectives are being taken non-stop including keeps being lost because it hinders their own PIP reward progression.
Secondly, #pipstress farmers are basically afk-in-usefulness players. That #pipstress farmer is there for the reward tick and switch back to whatever map can give them active participation again.
TL;DR Outmanned PIP bonus is detrimental to WvW coordinated team play.
First off, haven’t seen this. Second not certain these same people would have called out before anyway. This sound more of an issue of scouts and not having any that are really scouts. In either case if people are in doubt and are cross map watching they should be sending people over to take a look for themselves if they aren’t getting real reports.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
The goal of the outnumbered is to draw people into a map that needs reinforcements. The old outnumbered buff didn’t cut it for most people. Most people aren’t going to spend time in game if they are not having fun or gaining anything for their time be that in anything that they value, kills, rank, loot, levels… People are prone to leave maps that are failing unless they have something to account for that time. If you go with play whatever map you want you again fail to cover the core issue which is to get more players on the outnumbered map. If map hoping is the issue, don’t reward players outnumbered points until they have been on the map for 10 minutes. Then there is no reason to map hop just to get rewarded on another map. We are seeing more people balancing the maps since there are more movement on different maps so this is working to some extent. As far as spreading the outnumbered and paying it out across all maps, that doesn’t encourage people to spread which is part of the goal. Would hate to see the side that is running max population get rewarded for zerging while the other servers are balanced across the maps. Risk/reward.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Personally I would love to see another map like EBG. As someone suggested somewhere, just copy it, alter some terrain in some spots, make the theme to jungle, and put a big mayan pyramid in middle instead of castle.
Only thing I would do, since it would be a BL map, give the home team closer distance or faster way to travel to the middle vs the other 2 teams.
Also, this is just my preference, but I am very sick and tired of deserts and snow type deserts. Would actually like more green maps with vegetation in them.
I don’t think just re-sknning the terrain would do it. You need something different enough that there are new tactics to employ. Part of the WvW burnout in the past was that sameness, oh they are on the cata wall, use the ACs to the north. Watergate, cannons and AC from topside.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
+1 here, adding a visual display of the queue for the borderland you are on would be a nice addition.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
I fear the answer is no, but I hope they are working on a new map as well. We do need to get to the point where each map is unique and is not repeated. I would also go for all maps made in the future as structured as three sided maps that don’t favor any one side. Still believe part of EB’s success is in the equal footing layout.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
That would be a nice QoL feature down the road.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
I fear this suggestion encourages K-training and zerging. Prefer the current system more than would want to encourage the “we can flip it back” mentality.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
A single extra slot for a racial skill could be a good answer, as currently they aren’t game changing so it shouldn’t matter as much.
I really like this idea. An additional slot dedicated to racial skills would be a good addition. To the points already made these skills are far from best in slot so they rarely make build and I think this would be a good option to allow people to slot one with less concern that they had a better skill to use.
On top of that I agree racial skills add an additional level to toon creation and should have more importance than they do. Ask any alt-o-holic and those that have more than one of a class and odds are they would have more if different races played differently for the same class.
2 cents.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Right now we are in a good balance. Power is going to win in the short run and condi is going to win in the long haul. In a WvW/PvP sense condi is easy to counter via clears and vitality, power is easier by keeping distance and CC. You are going to have mis-matches on both sides if one player is spec’d in the counter to the other, that’s in a power or condi build. The difference is condi builds had to plan to be hit multiple times in the past and power build are just now having to do the same planning. In the long term the balance should remain, power = more burst shorter time, condi more damage over time.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Participation already accounts for WvW activity and does OK for balancing out the values of differing activities. You don’t want pips to be rewarded for these activities else you end up favoring zerg play over other play and that just turns everything into a K-Train. 50 people taking an empty structure does not have more value than 1 so why reward someone for that.
Coming at this from someone that is only 1530 and I have no problem with someone that spent more time in WvW getting more pips for their activity. I think ANet’s intent is to reward people that spent time in this game mode with currency they can use to gear out since WvW was more of a money lose than gain in the past. Already in full ascended gear on all WvW toons since I did a lot of Fractals outside of WvW and it was needed in the past. Why should I be rewarded the same as people that spent more time here when I might be coming in better geared then them for doing the other game modes?
As far as outnumbered, if the issue is people gaming it, then change how its calculated to prevent the freeloading that people are discussing. That and consider not rewarding ticks if in a safe zone after a short time period of being there.
The existing outnumbered buff is not really encouragement since if you are just getting crushed while outnumbered than X% more of 0 is 0. A lot of people will already not put up with that long and then we are back to dead WvW areas. Right now outnumbered is increasing the population on maps even when people know they are still going to lose. I have to wonder if this is more of a T1 issue than the other tiers. I am not in favor of people that game the system but this still sounds like an issue in calculation over the extra pips.
In short people like to chase things, in this case its pips. It can be fun and gives the feel of progress which in any MMO you want to have something that so people don’t stop and say, that felt like a waste of time, since MMO’s are a time sync. The fact that people are worried about maxing each week is why ANet drops gates on us since some people take it too far and have to max it. Right now the more time you spend in WvW and rank you the more tools you are granted to continue to do so, that makes it valuable to rank up. To me this is encouragement to play and level more. Having goals in game keeps people around.
I am surprised that people didn’t target the 1/2/+3 based on server ranking first since that favors servers that are stacked. Have now played a week where we were outnumbered most of the time and one where we are closer to the higher numbers and I think I see that disparity more. Again I know why they did that and I can agree you want additional motives to fight, but for the rank one, you already put in the time to get and the outnumbered you were more than likely already losing so you were paying a different price.
Good hunting!
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Plan for the worst and be pleasantly surprised.
In my opinion they will introduce a new currency. Now I say this for a number of reasons:
- That is their trend with new areas is to have new currencies
- It creates a level field that prevents stock piling in advance of release for key currencies
- It reduces the potential that people can max out on day 1
- It doesn’t require players to have HoT if they sell them separately
- Look how they handled Tomes of Knowledge in HoT
Good hunting!
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
The Outmanned buff is in a good state right now since it is drawing more people to maps that are under populated at the time and for weeks they have no chance of winning and therefore all maps are under populated. Will people abuse it, some will yes, but they will abuse any system that is created. Active play is a dicey thing. To a soloer or a havoc group, causing chaos elsewhere may be a way to draw pressure from elsewhere and they are aiding their realm for any points acquired. On an outnumbered map they may get run over a lot and therefore take more lumps then on a populated map. In short its too early to tell but I think this buff will help people spread out more than zerg which I believe is part of its intent.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Agree with the above. Finishers are a fun little side bit to the game that adds a more personal touch to finishing a fight.
When you double click on a finisher in your inventory it pops up finisher inventory and allows any expendable ones to be added to your stockpile. It also sets your finisher to the last one added. That’s what might be making you think you have to do the full process. That said even if you don’t have any you will default back to the generic “dirty sock on a stick” finisher that is unlimited so don’t worry about not having any, spike to your hearts content.
In WvW you will get more points if your side has bloodlust so spike if you can and the situation calls for it. PvP’s more of a spike vs cleave situation. Now as far as PvE, there are only limited mobs to have to spike, wouldn’t mind seeing them add more NPCs with that mechanic in the future though so you are right, usually you don’t need there.
Good hunting!
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Not saying linking is good or bad, but I think ANet’s intent is to encourage people to balance out the servers themselves. I wouldn’t bet on the links being removed anytime soon. Not to mention we are still in the “its shinny” phase so the question is how long will the population bolster last.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Have to vote no here. WvW is end game and part of that is gearing up for it. This makes sense in PvP but not WvW. And yes I did start in WvW with trash gear and under level at the time. We have a number of ways to gear up in WvW already and they continue to introduce new ways as we go.

So are we missing patch notes or did the change to prevent a 4v5 not count as a loss get revoked?

Leeches could be used to reference blood without showing blood. The dagger’s handle could be an open leech’s mouth that the player puts their hand inside, the mouth closing over the hand. Leeches could even slither up the arm and attach themselves. Excuse me, I have to go shudder.
Um…no, no, no no, not the same image at all lol. You, stay away from Legendary designs.

have run into enough bots in this game and others that can’t deny that people do either.
I suspect that there aren’t nearly as many bots as people think there are. I’ve certainly seen them, I just don’t think they are ubiquitous.
GW2 is no where near as bad as ESO to be sure. But can’t agree with people saying there isn’t anyway to do it. I knew there was some on the trading posts but when watching how they work on youtube, its kind of crazy. And this game doesn’t support Add-ons, would probably be worse.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
lol, for half asleep nice word choice. +1 there you do not exsanguinate often.
I like your idea, but also have reservations that ANet would probably shy away from something too graphic. Your concept of it meddling into the player itself could be conceptualized in some form to represent that its feeding off the player that is using it though.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
But it definitely sounds like you’ve never been to an Engi farm because you would know that most people actually stay around and chat. In fact, we once saw bots among us and we reported them.
No I rarely farm, and not saying people aren’t active, but have run into enough bots in this game and others that can’t deny that people do either. Again not opposed to people actively playing, not a fan of un-attended plays or bots. Same goes for people afking events, they do impact others by filling maps or scaling events that others are actively playing.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
the tl;dr of what I am saying is that engineers aren’t the problem, Anets official farm as the solution to the leather problem is.
Agree its not an engi thing. Would love to see their numbers on units in existence, but not sure why they haven’t adjusted the recipes or allowed raw scarps to drop from animal NPC kills. Oh ello pocket raptor you will make some nice gloves.

I’ve never had an issue with any HoT events, either.
- Use the LFG tool
- Best time to find good event squads: weekends
Yeah but the OP has a point, the more content that comes out the odds are better that the less people will be out there to do these things. Liked the HoT zones but that doesn’t mean that the scaleability may need to be addressed as the population shifts. Same concern was raised with the HPs as people predicted population shifts over time.
Above points on LFG and timing is spot on though.

Turn of the players auto cast feature altogether. No one uses it.
Oh look at me. I don’t use auto attack, which means no one does. Anet pls do everything I say. I am the playerbase.
I think GW2 has already cost me 3 gaming mice from the existing in game clicks. Wonder if they own shares in Razor or Logitech.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Can ppl auto cast turrets? Also, that farm isnt about the leather as leather is supidly low even in this farm it about the bags that drop. Funny thing is its one of the low reward farms so idk why are ppl crying about it its not like this farm will outprofit you if you do anything else. So i ask again why are you mad with this? This actually works great if you want to do something else during that time like clean cook read etc as the turets need to be refreshed every 5 mins.
Ironically, don’t care so much about it, assumptions are a different issue. That said, are you in favor of people that spam you to sell you gold? Un-attended play is one way that gold-sellers make that money which leads to the ingame spam. Also the more people farm the less items have value and not a fan of trash loot.
Don’t have an issue with farmers in general if they are having fun, but un-attended play leads the devs to things like diminishing returns and people failing events and then being hostile to players doing the events to completion. Don’t get me wrong, appreciate the value of game time, will play 2 or more different games at the same time if they have built in delays that make you wait for something, but you did ask why people post I can see both sides.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Gotta love it when people complain about things they do not even know how they freaking work… Engineers. cannot. be. afk. because. the. turrets. get. destroyed. in. 5. minutes. Also, if a GM comes around and they don’t answer the whispers, they get temp. banned. This is not an afk farm. Next time learn more about the situation before you open your mouth!
Ummm… what!? So, what do you use for a keyboard and mouse? Pets classes like the engi/ranger/necro could be easily used since you can simply set the abilities to respawn after a delay with any current gaming mouse/keyboard. Not saying people are afk farming or not but your assumption that no one is and its impossible are right out if have every used any gaming peripherals.
Just go roll an engineer and play one for a bit. You are making assumptions that you wouldn’t make if you were familiar with the class. Example – you only can autocast 1 turret, and they are ground targeted.
Sorry know gamer’s that easily marco’ed movement and placement skills, might not agree with them and were kittened at them for it, but denying they did it wasn’t going to change they did.

De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
I enjoy my Engi, but I fear this is going to just lead to a turret nerf in the end.
“Turret’s now have a 10 foot range before self-destructing”.
It is ironic, the original issue was that leather was trash loot. Its good that items in game have value, we need more of that. Its the flip-flop and overcompensation that’s the issue here. Remember when silk had value, its now closing in on trash loot like leather was. Player’s reacting and chasing that leads to off-hand reactions and things like this. There is no good answer, farming drives down prices which is good when you have to buy, but then you are left with trash loot, and be real loot is the shiny carrot that people chase. So when drops and sinks are out of balance we end up here. I still wonder if NPC vendor prices for goods should be moved up, more coin added to loot drops and less items dropped would impact it. Not sure, but there is nothing worse then looking at a full bag and releasing its all trash.
Would love to see the metrics but betting that less than 5% of players at level max level use any green or blue gear. In an ideal sense would love to see more random variations in dropped lot that would bring the more rare drops in a line that it might contend with crafted gear. I am happy that crafted gear has serious value, but to be in balance there should also be drops from mobs that compete in that market as well, which outside of precursors we do not have.
Either way that pic did say a lot however you take it.

Not saying people are afk farming or not but your assumption that no one is and its impossible are right out if have every used any gaming peripherals.

I wasn’t certain what to expect when we got gliding but am a fan of it now. It was a good concept that added a new dimension to the game. Am a fan of the more vertical maps and being able to glide between levels fits the world quite well. I hope that the concept is expended upon and we get airel combat in all three game modes in the future. The new Oakheart mastery that allows the “spidey” travel via the vine pulls likewise expands and compliments this form of travel. If we were to get mounts I would hope that they too compliment versus replace these forms of travel. Leave the mounts to be ground or underground travel and leave the airspace to gliders.

Kickstarter is a great way for players to invest directly into games that they have interest in. I admit I back a number of projects that I found of interest and wanted to support as a gamer.
I do know some people use the ingame store to directly invest in GW2 already and will spend more when happier and less when not with game direction.
I like this idea but can see issues since I think the player base would see this more as why they are looking for more regular game expansions. Since gems can be bought also with in game gold there is also that issue that would addressed since these I assume would need to be gems purchased via cash.
The other downside here is also you could have features released that most players wouldn’t want but a few players with more disposable income would want. Resulting in features that drive people away. Business wise this may seem ok if someone just looked at the numbers but if you don’t manage your playerbase for the long haul then you end up with no players.
@cyn – Good points all. I do like your feature 4. Course I think more communication by itself would go a long way. I think they would see even more community brainstorming if they shared more that was in development. A dedicated suggestions area would also be a nice to have. Its been fun at times going back thru peoples older suggestions and seeing things that have appeared in game later. Yes maybe I am twisted. So be it.
Good gaming to all!

It’s not just the leather farm. It’s the winterberries, the spots in orr, drytop, wherever it’s being done. Maybe you didn’t understand what I meant. Turn of the players auto attack feature altogether. No one uses it. To set up another skill to fire off every time its off cool down is not useful in the slightest. Because in all reality you still spam #1, so its not being used anyway. Pets and other things that auto attack are fine the way they are. It’s the player abusing the auto attack that is keeping the system from logging them out. no matter how you spin it.
Not sure this would solve it. The turrets and pets are probably a bigger issue since they will attack targets in range on their own. For an AFK farmer it wouldn’t be an issue to marco on their own system to repeat 1 on a timer. Appreciate the concept but I think this would impact more legit players than AFK farmers. Can’t offer alternatives here since other options are also more impact-full on active players.

They don’t handle them based on my experience so far, the reports just land directly in the bin.
Though I can respect the no name and shame policy, I do wish they would post weekly ban metrics so that people might actually believe that the report feature has an active function. Only problem with reporting and blocking is it gives you a false sense that the issue was addressed since you can’t see their text any longer.

I waited until their farm zerg left warmaster josif and then soloed the event before moving on.
You guys should read better.
Its the worst part that some people are so selfish, they watch others farm and haveing fun and instead of joining everyone they just try to annoy them and afterwards complain on the forum…
We really need instanced maps to ban toxic people like in pvp.
I read the OP and the part you quote pretty clearly says that he waited until the zerg had left before doing the event himself. They had gone. They were no longer playing that event and yet wanted to control how others played it, or attack others for not playing it according to their preferences.
I mean I am not even logged into the game right now so I should be allowed to attack others for going to Orr at all while I am away right?
Agree, will never blame a player for playing the game as it was intended. Not in favor or completely against farmers if they are doing it reasonably and not blocking players or crossing TOS. But that doesn’t sound like this was the cause which is the problem.

tl; dr version: Build diversity options has been increasing over time but could still use more attention.
As far as power versus condi, to me it should always be that power is quicker more upfront burst but condi should be more damage over time. Condi being slower to build but a heavier hitter over the duration. That also allows the players to create mix builds that have elements of both.
The same could be said about range versus melee, since range requires less risk it should produce less damage than those abilities that require the player to be closer to its target. Risk versus reward.
More defense already means less damage and we shouldn’t end up with builds that are both the most damage and defensive else something has gone wrong. ANet has been targeting that over time so its less of an issue.
Play both condi and power builds among alts on all classes, not sure I could define meta since I play builds that I experiment with all the time. At the same times changes should be considered across all three game types since some complaints come from one or another and then end up impacting the others.
OP is right there were threads all over the place about alternatives to zerk meta. In damage output condi is now up there with zerk. In PvP/WvW there are a lot of people that don’t want to spec to defend against condi since their defense against zerk was counter zerk and now they have to adjust. People don’t do well with adjusting in general which causes a lot of complaints. If there was zero reason to use defensive only abilities though then those should be replaced.
That still does not address the issue about diversity that was also in those threads. That won’t change in PvE until more boss logic is changed to target the weakest target. If you think about it, in a PvP environment you don’t hit the target that is taking the least damage (hopefully) but instead target something that drops faster. Since traditional trinity is still not the end goal there will not be a need for more gear diversity until the AI also follows logic that players do when choosing targets. Until defensive attributes play a bigger role you will not see changes in which gear is consider more desirable.
In PvP and WvW players spec more defensive gear based on the environment they are playing in. Would love to see stats from ANet but my beat is that the most gear diversity shows up in WvW, followed by PvP and then PvE.
Now that said we have seen over time a bigger role for CC with the introduction of break bars and that has filtered over to PvP and WvW with the additional changes to stability. In PvE that to me was a rather good change and made encounters more diverse and created more reasons to use skills that might not have been up to par compared to others. In WvW that was mixed since it changed it from a melee focused combat to a ranged environment and things are still evolving. That impacted gear selections to some degrees but was limited.
Additional changes that allowed one attribute to bolster another was also in line with encouraging changes and might have done some, but in a limited sense.
So are we there yet IMO, no. Is it a moving a target, yes. But this will cause issues since we do lose people as fast shifts change since they had toons they work longed on and built that suddenly became mote. We do need mechanisms to assist people in those fundamental shifts else we risk losing more over time. Not sure what form that assistance takes yet but have seen it enough to say it is needed.
Good hunting.

Failure providing more incentive than success is a failure in game design and should be addressed by ArenaNet.
This.
If events were reworked they should be reworked to reward some for effort, but much more for success. If the reward pays more for failure you will end up with people trying to game the system for more reward which leads to these issues.
Report and block in game is also correct but posting also leads to a change that created the situation in the first place and makes sense. Its not about being selfish its about game environment which can impact player retention.
2 cents.

It sounds more like you hit your toggle box. Double check that you aren’t set to queue only for Stronghold game type.

I do appreciate options to be able to do content with groups and solo at times.
Focusing in on who the NPCs would be, that is a good idea. I know a lot of times players get the feeling that they have little relationship to the their story line guild and this would go a way towards connecting them more. Having more interaction with both DE and DW is a good idea and would lend more weight when we have off interactions with the NPCs in living story episodes.
On being able to complete the content with added NPCs, not sure where I stand on that. I appreciate that at times you may want to run solo or may not have people on. But for NPCs to able to keep up they at times will be able to bypass some game rules to stay with the player and things like that make me question the concept. I do a lot of falling and going splat in some of the jumping fractals but that’s part of the challenge and fun. A programmed AI is going to be up there with me where as in a group environment some players may be holding the line while others are trans-versing the environment to get to that point. Those are not the same fights at all.
As far as effort, I could see this being a larger coding project. Not a bad idea to put out there but I think this would be a large undertaking. If I was to weigh this coding effort versus a match-maker style of system for group content I think I would lean towards a match maker.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
I agree with the OP that there should be more armor sets versus outfits. Clipping may be thing but would prefer that over outfits and being able to mix and match gives your player a more unique feel.
Now that said, there should be 1-2 in game sets added for each gem store set. A lot of people enjoy working towards things like that in game. The drive of the collectors and achievement hunters shouldn’t be under estimated and things like that extend the replayability of the game. Not to mention if they are added as lot drops or associated to reward tracks under the different game modes. I support the gem store but the goodwill of adding items to both sides is huge. Good gaming to you.

Wasn’t really looking for mounts but I get why others do. Having the mounts more than just a transportation method is also a great idea. That said hope that gliding continues to control the sky and mounts are ground based. I could see this working story wise if we are moving into areas where there are not fixed asura gates and we need mounts for large travel areas. And yes they did need to innovate and this will give the collectors more goals if they have both exclusive ingame and gemstore mounts.

Seeing issues in US as well. Take patcher as sample, testing connections down at 50 Mbps but Anet server is at 25 kbps. Not sure what is up yet.
