The party at the end, I enjoyed it. I enjoyed talking to the NPCs.. loved the ending music. Loved the surprise Wozmack the Wonderful at the end. (Now I know where he disappeared to after the noble party.) And thank you for the dancing Moa troupe. I actually teared a little now that epic journey is at the end. I have seen the creative work put into all of this and its beauty. While I am critical in my other posts about certain things (mainly the kitten weapon tickets behind the scam boxes or the “stupid box” since most people feel stupid spending money on the worthless things but that is for the other hundred threads that haven’t been responded to at all), I dearly enjoyed the ending party instance. In the spirit of Douglas Adams.. so long and thanks for all the Moas.
Um yah, they are stupidly exclusive. Abysmal drop rate from abysmal boxes.
Locking these weapon skins behind this scam of lock boxes (and yes, its a scam, you are fooling yourself to think it is otherwise) is horrible for customers and is only causing ill will. As anyone can tell its also causing a huge amount of conflict among the player themselves. This is not good for any community based gaming such as MMO’s and especially for a social game as Guild Wars 2.
Consider the RNG lockboxes boycotted by me and have been endorcing everyone to the same in and out of game.
I would love for people to have another chance at getting the molten pickaxe. I have one and I do not care if it was limited time or not. I would not be upset, I would be glad for it to come back again.
I have seen many threads about RNG system of boxes as the only means of acquiring weapon tickets and rare content specific items from the Living World content.
When the game was released, a token system was used with dungeons; after acquiring enough tokens, you may purchase varying amount of style specific items and armor.
I liked the system in the first Guild Wars personally, where tokens such as Jade Wind Orbs or Zaishen Coins allowed players to pick and choose what they wanted and allowed everyone to enjoy content specific items while letting hardcore players work toward top tier items.
For the developers, why did you decide to switch to a system of RNG style boxes for ingame content?
For players, what is your opinion on the RNG system currently in place? Do you think it is hurting the player base at all?
Which type of reward system do you prefer?
As a player the answer is obivious. The RNG style boxes has been erodding the player base. Its been hurting us all. Any who thinks otherwise are truly just fooling themselves. I have yet to meet in any game while playing who actually likes this stuff let alone willing to put up with it. The whole thing is the worse sort of money scam and any player who defends this practice are truly clueless. Sure, A.Net has the right to make money, but as a customer, we have the right to be treated fairly for the money in which with these RNG box scam, we are not. I honestly cannot any longer suggest this game to my friends anymore.
Please, no more RNG failboxes or appalingly low drop rates.
Just sell the weapons tickets directly in the Gemstore.
Slap a reasonably high price on it if you want Anet, but I dont think anyone fines you RNG failboxes fun or worthwhile. And why design weapon skins hardly anyone gets to use. that kind of limited access stuff belongs in other MMOs, I expect better from GW2.
I am 100% behind you on this one. My boycott of it continues.
Absolutely zero weapon tickets. Only from drops though. Would waste gems on this type of money grabbing scam.
would or wouldn’t
?
Wound not. Thanks for catching that. Edited and fixed!

Cool idea for a reuse of previous well made dungeons. I think F&F molten factory would be an excellent candidate it.
“We founded ArenaNet to innovate, so Guild Wars 2 is our opportunity to question everything, to make a game that defies existing conventions.” – Mike O’Brien
Then let me take this opportunity to question the Lock Box scam. To question why weapon tickets are behind such a horrible system. This doesn’t defy existing conventions but makes an existing convention worse. This “gem” of a game is tarnished by it. This is not innovation.
This is my suggestion to you. Stop with the lock box scam (might as we be snake oil). Stop wasting our time and money with this. Start selling these weapon skins via the gem store. The Braham and Roxy items were a great start!
Dyes should have been account bound to begin with.
I´m not liking it at all either, but RNG boxes are standard way of monetization in pretty much all F2P games I know of, not necessarily Asian-only.
Nobody is forcing you to buy them and if you can´t keep your greed for “fashion” in check and have to enter the lottery, then I fear it´s entirely your fault.
At least they do add some skins to the Gem-store, guess we have to be happy with that.
Yah.. no. Not happy with that at all. Not going to settle for it at all either. Guild Wars 2 was about breaking standards. I hate this in any game and in turn is turning me off from the game.
“We founded ArenaNet to innovate, so Guild Wars 2 is our opportunity to question everything, to make a game that defies existing conventions.” – Mike O’Brien
Lockboxes are an existing convention. Its about time for it to be broken. Because it is certainly questionable.
Best tweak they can do is get rid of the stupid lock box system all together. Or leave an option to buy the items straight out and have a chance of getting it cheaper by a lock box. Expand the options for the player, not freaking limit them with this bogus hiding well made skins behind worthless to the player RNGs. Enough is enough. We are sick of it.
Why would you want the price of it to go up? Means more people can have them. That’s a good thing.
If it is popular in other places, fine. But I am getting sick of this. It has to end. At this rate, if this continues, I think I am just done with MMOs all together. I really liked this game too but this is getting too aggravating and I do not know if I really want to be part of game that carries such practices as this box crap.
Forget it, not spending gems or money any boxes. That ship has sailed. I am not filling anyone’s coffers with more of these kitten boxes.
Definitely a serious lack of emotes. Cannot even sit in chairs. Makes me really miss City of Heroes.
What I really miss are character description boxes and more emotes, like sitting in chairs, leaning on walls, different types of sitting.. etc.
Would not getting the gear appearance of the armor you want not be the incentive in the first place? Also the achievement for doing all the dungeons? I don’t understand why appearance and stats are still so connected. It is so backwards and outdated concept. Transmutation stones is a whole other ripoff. I love making my characters look the way I want, but being forced to do it through consumables that cost gems seems overboard to me.
If they dump the RNG weapon boxes and able to buy whole sets of stuff instead via gem store, I would be all for it.
I was thinking about dungeon armors lately, where some armors I like the looks of but doesn’t include that stats I need or want for my character. For example, I really like the looks of the noble heavy armor from CM dungeon, but none of the stat choices include soldier stats I want. Why does that have to be? Why not expand the choice of stats to include all the variety? Why just three sets?
If it didn’t cost gems to reskin everything, I would be more for this, but the way things are now, the current setup works well. Gives reason to go to various temples to get the stats you want without worrying about an armor look to match. If only dungeons would give more stats per armor appearance…
Not a fan of solo instances. I like playing with other people and felt sad I could not join in the instance with them. I play MMO’s so i can play with other people. The instances themselves I found interesting. I treated it more like a puzzle then a combat situation. When looked at as a puzzle, it was not so disappointing as others have made it out to be. I have a feeling the big fight is yet to come.
But for the love of the six gods, please stop putting weapon skins behind RNG boxes that no one likes. It is just kitten ing off your customer base. If you, A.Net, really want us to spend gems, sell them as skins. I am never spending money or gems on random loot boxes. And never will. Either I get what I am buying or walk away. No one in their right mind spends money on something they may or more likely will not get. It is bad for the consumer and a shady business practice at best.
Also the crab tossing game wasn’t a favorite of mine. I felt there were good ideas in it, but if it was more team vs team oriented, it would have been way more fun.

This is obvious in Southsun. Good storytelling, interesting dynamic events, a deep change to the world? No, 200% Magic Find and some unique looking items if you do some achievements, plus the good old RNG boxes. That’s what ArenaNet gave its community because that’s what the GW2 community wanted.
From what I can tell from the long list of threads frustrated with RNG boxes, including myself, the community does not like RNG boxes and would love to see them go away. Especially locking weapon skins behind them has to be the worse and most hated move ever on A.Net’s part. I have yet to meet anyone in game that actually likes the stupid things.
Getting rewarded for exploring the island with curious and fun items, i can get beyond that – though the diving into lava bit seem awkward and out of place for an achievement to me, though did get a chuckle getting a friend of mine to do it not knowing what the dire results were going to be.
I think what happened is the community is feeling a bit frustrated. I can see it mainly starting when the fused ticket weapon fiasco happened. And now it is happening again with the new weapon skins. There has been no direct or indirect feedback on the issue from any rep of A.Net. No response to the great dislike of it. And it is starting to make certain parts of the community feel ignored. And the frustration spreads from those people to the rest of the community.
Lets not forget the lack of social tools as well. Lack of emotes, lack of interaction with the environment (i.e. not being able to sit in chairs). And costly character customization – requiring gems to change the character’s appearance or armor to match stats. It adds up.
(edited by TheMagickDoll.7594)
Its a really kitten good idea.
Cannot say I was the greatest fan of Crab Toss. Though I thought the added environmental dangers was a nice addition. There were some many fun ideas in Crab Toss, but I kept finding myself comparing it to Brew Brawl. Was it as fun as Brew Brawl, no. In the end, I found Crab Toss more frustrating then fun. Maybe it was the lack of team element?
A lot of us are sick of it and if you check around there are many long threads dedicated to it. You are not alone and I hope the dislike for it hits home with folks at a.net.
Faren is definitely a favorite of mine as well. Though I also wish he would have remembered my character.. since he was after my brandy!
I have no issues with it. I like to read. And its only a wall to those look from the bottom unlike the rest who like to read; it is a short climb on a hill on a mountain of lore.
That’s the general idea. Look at the Wintersday Skins, no one uses them because they were soooo common. It’s been 5 months since Wintersday and the skins are still at less than 10 silver.
The idea behind rare items is to give them value. Yes, putting them in lottery boxes is a way to make money, and yes they are a company that needs to make money to continue to keep the game running, but no one is forcing you to get this skin. If you think it’s unfair or you don’t like the way it’s implemented… the solution is simple, don’t get it.
Are you really comparing winterdays skins to the f/f and the one from southsun? Why not compare them to the halloween event that shield skin still sells for over 200g.The reason why people dont use the winterdays skins are because of how they look not because they are common.
I wont even bring up the sab skins and how many people are using them and anyone could get them. The reason why the new skins are in crates is to make money. It has nothing to do with trying to keep them rare.
I was going to say the same thing. Its because how the skins looked, not rarity.
The RNG is a big problem for the player base. There was a big fuss over the Molten weapon skins for this reason. The exact same issue. Do not think people are going to take it so lightly. Those who really care or understand the game understand why this is a problem.
From my experiences, Warrior is in a bad place when it comes to PvE. Horrible survival skills if any. Hardly any damage migration. The traits are mess when compared to other professions; especially noticeable now that i have a guardian at level 80.
I want to like my warrior, I have soft spot for the character, but when there far more interesting choices for professions in the game, I find it hard to justify putting more effort into the character when other professions perform better with less.
Oh silly me, should have realized that. In the end though guardians have it best at 100% vigor upkeep on a 5 point minor trait o.O
I wonder why they decided to give that to the most bunker class?Because you got the HP pool and the damage.
The warrior hp pool is a joke. Guardians have regen. protection, Aegis and retaliation. That trumps any hp pool you can come up with.
If our Hp pool and damage were better than a guardian..how come you run away from a good GS/hammer guardian when you are a master of weapons and stuff? They also have a heal that blocks at the same time. Guardian survivability is just a joke that needs to be addressed. I dunno when the devs will leave PVE to focus on class balance. Maybe next year.
Survivability in this game is not about numbers. Its about mechanics/boons.
That! Right there. Its about the mechanics. The warrior ability to survival is horrible. Scholar classes have better survival skills then the warrior. The Warrior down skills does not help either. It has to be the worse set of down skills of any profession.
I also wish WvWvW maps weren’t part of the map completion.
A native client of GW2 would be a dream come true.
I miss it too. I like how people could actually get weapon skins in that as oppose to the kitten lockbox. At least sell the stuff in the gem store if they want our money.
I just wasted $200 on these chests….Am really tired of this now. I had to buy over 100 BL keys just to get ONE bloody fused weapon ticket, now $200 (over 1.8k in South African rands which is my currency….) later and all I have to show for it is a bunch of Karka shells and Passion Flowers….
Please Anet, I have just payed for your server costs for a month and gotten next to nothing for it. Your RNG is flawed in so many ways. I have had probably 5 or 6 exotic DROPS since launch, and now after over 100 of these supply crates I haven’t gotten anything remotely useful.
Between that and the lack of Necromancer fixes, my interest in this game is starting to turn into annoyance, which is a pity, because I do actually like the game.
There’s nothing I can do now after already spending the money which is more than a bit frustrating, but what can I do…
Continue to express your disappointed the more they do this and do not spend any more money on it. Like so many people have said before, vote with your wallet. Don’t buy key and boxes.
I dig the weapon skins, but A.Net, whoever thought of putting these behind these kitten lockbox needs a wake up call to utter contempt people have for them. Who ever is behind these boxes, who ever you might be, even face to face, I will tell you, stop doing these this. You are only making yourself and A.net look bad. And only more so the more this BS continues.
I am enjoying it. Nice.. view?
But at least you can get it unlike the horror of the stupid RNG boxes.
Count me in being sick of this stuff. Sorely disappointed.
These are one of those items people would slay for. The demand for a more permanent way to change ones hair is so much needed in the game. There are a lot of other games where a character can change their hair styles without resorting to a gem store process that is currently in the game. Its obvious a demand and need to have something more like this in the game. It is sad that things like this bring the game down where it could shine. Better ways of customizing ones character is where this game fails. RIP City of Heroes.
The Black Lion Chests is a bad system and only makes the player base frustrated. Frustrated players don’t stick around. Its been destroying the loyalty of customers. I have been having a hard time suggestion the game to people because of it despite the in the other areas the game shines in. If anything, I just tell people never buy the keys.
Seriously. STOP IT.
We paid your game. We want those skins, but we don’t want them to be a CRAPPY RNG BASED KITTEN!
SERIOUSLY. I would’ve bought at least 3-4 fused weapons skins, instead they put them into those stupid black lion chests with a ridiculously low chance of dropping (i opened +/- 15 of those from dropped keys and bough ones and got not even one), it sucks and nobody frigging like it.
We want stuff to be fair kitten it, personally, it’s the last time i buy anything on the gem store untill they start making stuff fair and whatnot.haha, the reason you want that skin so bad is because it’s highly prized.
Now, consider this question very carefully: Do you know why it’s highly prized?
Then, realize the answer: It’s only so highly prized because of how rare it is. People love having rare/sought after stuff.
If fused skins were cheap and easy to get, it wouldn’t be nearly as sought after, and there wouldn’t be nearly as many people shelling out $100-150 just for a ticket.
No, its high in demand because its such an awesome looking skin. A lot of people would love to have it and pay for the skin, but the BLC random system prevents most from even attempting to get it. It is an unnecessary barrier and hurdle to get something they should be selling straight out to people. The black lash is justified. This is a shady business practice and people are calling out on it.
I am sure if space starts becoming a problem they will find a solution to it. For now, I find this book fun and enjoyable to use. I am sure they just wanted to get something like this out there as soon as possible for people to enjoy since the dances were so much fun from the party box. Its the step in the right direction and applaud them for it.
Or better put “rarely” available as it is locked behind those stupid black lion chests. I usually love your work A.net, but this non-sense needs to stop.
Well here’s to farming lvl 10 personal story quests. Watch, theyll make them really hard now this next patch instead of addressing the real problem haha
Going to take a stab that the real problem here is that these fantastic weapon skins are hiding behind some random system instead of being flat out sold. It continues to be frustrating for a lot of players, especially those with any common sense with money. It is unfortunate A.Net has not rectified the situation. It is not remotely fair for the play base and only gives A.Net a bad reputation. This problem has been overshadowing a lot of great stuff going on otherwise.
In my case windows reported this error:
“Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered. "
Take a look on your Windows logs under System. You should have the same error. Btw i tried it on Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x64 (fresh installs), using Catalyst 12.10.
I have this exact same problem.
Having the same issue. Pass week or so my graphic device will suddenly stop working and recover randomly.
