Unique Skills for Legendary and Named Weapons

This idea is awesome and should be implemented. All the naysayers are just followers and idiots—don’t listen to them.

It absolutely should not be implemented. Giving hard to obtain weapons their own specials attack/defense skills is one of the worst balance ideas ever. No offense OP….

However, rather then shoot the idea down entirely how about Guild Wars 2 implement this compromise. How about each Legendary Weapon come with it’s own special set of Emotes that you can activate using the F5-F8 Keys. These emotes can be used anywhere in the game world outside of sPvP but do not do any damage. They are simply there to make the owner of the item stand out and to show off the weapon and it’s Legendary appeal. Each one could even have a somewhat useful but non game breaking special effect. For example Dawn /sunrise emote or F5 might summon a small sun from the heavens that will conpletely light up a dark area, such as the dark torch room in the EB Jumping Puzzle. Twilight could do the exact opposite ad darken a bright room. Say /void or F5 summons a black hole that sucks out all of the light.

Would this be an acceptable alternative?

What happened to the no grind philosophy?

Randulf, actually i said that GW 2 alienated most of the GW 1 playerbase is based off my knowledge, my friends, and the players i talked with. The overwhelming majority disliked the path GW 2 is going down.

And yes, you do good dmg, but someone with the ascended gear will outdamage a equally skilled player. Im a min maxer, i look at the numbers, and the numbers tell me that ascended gear will make me stronger and thats pretty much a fact. So tell me why shouldnt i rather pick someone with ascended gear over someone without? In GW 1 if someone had to switch roles and was playing GW for longer than a couple of months, he could do so in a matter of minutes. In GW 2 its a matter of months now.

Lets say i just geared my warrior with full prec pow crit% gear. And now someone wants me to play a condition dmg tanky build. Well i have to do dailies for 20 days and 1 monthly and 20 lvl 10 fractal runs just so i can swap the gear.

And no, im not satisfied with , its just a minor boost. Its flat out better gear.

This +1.

I can honestly say that I’m extremely dissapointed in the direction that Anet took the Guild Wars Franchise. I was the biggest fan boy of the worst sort and now I’m extremely frustrated. Every person I started playing with from multiple guilds has quit this game and most likely will never return. We were promised one thing then delivered another. Most of the support in the podcast community has quit as well. There’s one great video podcast that still airs weekly but the remaining audio podcasts are WoW kids who are into Progression and are calling for more of it.

Here are some of the most stupid comments I’ve read: “No one is forcing you to do it!”, “You don’t HAVE to do anything you don’t want to do”, “You can get everything you want and need just by playing the game”. Clearly the individuals who spout such non-sense just don’t get it. These types of players don’t understand the original Guild Wars philosophy. Being able to change your build was a part of the game. It was a core design and the same thing was promised to us in Guild Wars 2. Getting the max stat level gear is something that should take under an hour for max level character. And I mean for every single max level item in the game. The only thing that should take time to acquire are the unique skins that you desire. But the skins should offer no statistical advantage over the easy to obtain ugly max level gear.

In Guild Wars 2 acquiring the max level gear for your build is a major time and money sink. Now imagine you’ve finally got everything you want for one specific build and then decide you want to change it up and switch from a Power and Condition Spec to a Power Precision Crit Damage Spec or a Tougness Vitality Healing Power Spec. Whether you care to admit it or not you are 100% committed to a specific set of stats and switching it up isn’t going to be easy. If you honestly think that you can compete in Greens and Yellows over Orange and Purples you really don’t understand the difference that it makes. I’d love to see a group in all Greens and Yellows in WvWvW go up against the same size build/group that’s decked out in all Purples and Oranges. Or a Yellow and Green geared group attempt to complete Arah Path 4. It’d be a joke. If you still don’t think it makes a difference I’m willing to meet up in EB for a 1v1 with the only difference being our gear and I’ll show you first hand just how big a difference it makes.

At this point in the game I am 100% commited to a certain stat base of: Weapons, Armor, Earrings, Amulet, Rings, Backpiece, Runes, and Sigils. I cannot switch these out with other max level stat items without grinding. Regardless of how you feel about progression beating your opponent or winning a boss fight should never ever under no circumstances come down to player gear. It should always be about player skill and or team coordination. If you don’t understand this you are part of the MMO Grind Mentality problem and should go back to WoW or LoTRo or Eve or EQ or wherever it is you came from. And while you were off “progressing” your toons in those other games many of us were giving our money, time, and support to ANet and Guild Wars and having a blast doing so only to have them sell out and turn on us for quick buck. Without us there never would have been a Guild Wars 2.

They already have the system in place they just need to give the player the tools they need to create in this place. The place would be your very own Fractal of the Mists; the tools will cost gems most likely. How great would it be to develop your own “home” whether it be a paradise or an insane jumping puzzle. I am eagerly looking forward to this……….

Will build diversity ever be a real option?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Theplayboy.6417

Theplayboy.6417

Build Diversity used to be a part of Guild Wars. They had it nailed as close to perfection as you could get in Guild Wars 1. Currently there aren’t many classes that have more than 2 viable builds. You basically have to choose between direct damage, condition damage, or survivability. You can hybrid two of the three options and still be effective in PvE, never though against a suitable opponent in PvP. However, your character will never really be very proficient unless you focus on one of the three aspects I mentioned earlier.

In Guild Wars 1 you could change your build for free in any outpost and max level gear could be obtained very quickly. By very quickly I mean 20 minutes or less. In Guild Wars 2, I can’t even phathom trying to respec my main with all of the grind that is involved on top of the cost. The cost to switch to 6 new superior runes, 6 new armors specifications, new weapons, and new weapon runes is out of control. It’s very un-Guild Wars like. They are currently trying to cater to the WoW kids and it’s a shame because they really had a good thing going in the original game.

Everything is becoming more difficult and grindy to do. I barely have time to log on during the week and now I come on today and see these ridiculous dailies. Oh, and dungeons are going to be a lot harder now so I won’t be able to gear up my characters as easily as the people who played the game for 5 months prior to this month (I’m new to the game). Let see what else, another currency that I have to keep track of, great.

From my point of view, it would seem like the bulk of these changes were put in to halt/limit progression.

I bought the game because the original Guild Wars wasn’t so grindy and GW2 was advertised as the non-MMO MMO. Well I can see now that GW2 is about as much of a sequel to GW1 as Diablo III was to Diablo II, as in a sequel in name only that completely misses what made the previous game good.

I completely agree…they threw out most of what made GW1 memorable and inherently fun in the first place.

Combat depth, elite skill capping, actual cinematic cutscenes in the story rather than middle school plays…it’s like they completely dropped off the deep end with this game.

Hahaha Middle School plays . I love that.

Thanks.

As far as what I would like to see….just a nerf of the obvious ez mode faceroll classes. Specifically, thieves, mesmers and d/d eles. Getting really sick of seeing so many in spvp all the time.

I only know what I’ve read here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/january-2013 and heard on a couple of GW2 Podcasts.

Ok so, if you do wvw a lot you are probably familiar with the JP’s. So here I am, my first time in a JP and I’m in the eternal battlegrounds. After 4 hours or so of torture and extreme difficulty the chest is only a stones throw away. Throughout this puzzle Ive seen a few enemies but we’ve just ignored each other…Right near the chest I get ganked by 8 people. I am beyond kitten but I am determined to not give up. In my attempt of escape from the mob of anonymous kittens I’m able to drop down right near the griffon part of the puzzle. Eventually someone stumbles by after 15 minutes of praying and waiting and has the courtesy to revive me. Me and him go up and are near the chest…Guess who is waiting there 15 minutes later. The same exact people and once again they just kill me like nothing…..Why? What do they gain from this other than the feeling that they are torturing some random person whom has done nothing wrong to them? Seriously though, this freaking sucks….anyways I was kitten and left to get a glass of water and cool down and when I got back I was DC’d… BYE-BYE afternoon, too bad I have nothing to show from it!

Do the Jumping puzzle first thing in the morning on a weekday before work. You probably won’t see anyone and can get it done in under 10 minutes.

Pre-Made and PUGs should be split. Here is how the system should work.

Tournament Queue for solo players waits until there are 40 people queue’d up for the tournament. The tourament will then kick off and the PUG teams be all be assigned in this order. Highest Ranked Player: Team 1, Lowest Rank Player: Team 1, Second Highest Ranked Player: Team 2, Second Lowest Ranked Player: Team 2, Third Highest Ranked Player: Team 3, Third Lowest Ranked Player: Team 3…..etc…. Under this system all of the PUG teams will be somewhat balanced and the neweer players will get to team up with more experienced players and can learn from them.

Pre-Made groups stay the exact same as it is now. Wait until 8 Teams are signed up and then tournament starts.

Every one happy?

As stated before cut out unneeded background apps. The best way to do this is by going to the Windows start menu and in the search bar type “msconfig” without the quotations. It will open a new window with several tabs. Go to the “startup” tab and “services” tab and uncheck everything not required to play the game and your laptop properly. Click the “apply” button after that then restart your machine. Defrag your hard drive that the game client is on if it’s not on an SSD. Restart your machine again. If you have a graphics program that manages your visual settings open it and switch everything to performance instead of quality. Do the same with your Windows settings. After you open the client and login but before hitting the play button go into task manager and set the GW2.exe to High Priority. If you still experience FPS issues then try lowering the resolution before you attempt a jumping puzzle. This should solve all of your problems.

It’s the Virtual Treadmill Carrot on a Stick Gear Grind that all the WoW Kids love and that Guild Wars and Anet have been catering to. You can’t just enjoy the journey or stop to make friends or even have a decent conversation. There simply isn’t enough time. With the gear/weapon/gold grind and soon to be introduced daily and monthly Laurel grind you have to spend every second of your in-game time very wisely. Well, for people that have jobs, lives, and girlfriends at least. I really feel that the only people who can get ahead are kids with no jobs and social outcasts with no friends that live off/with their parents. The problem is that if you’re not grinding out Karma, Playing the TP, Farming specific Dungeon Paths for Gold, Grinding Fractals, getting all of the WP’s, Vista’s, POIs, and Hearts for 100% World Map Completition you ARE falling behind the power curve. Which will be extremely apparent to you the moment you get into a 1v1 in WvWvW. And if you’re doing any of the things I mentioned above then you’re falling behind in your sPvP Rank and will never get hooked up with a good sPvP Guild because you need to be at the very least a Tiger these days, that’s Glory Rank 40+ for all you PvEasy’s.

Anet really messed up with Guild Wars 2. They put all of this gorgeous great stuff to see and do and then at the same time add in a gear grind that’s impossible for anyone with a job, life, and girl to achieve. Unfortunately you have to have the gear or you won’t be on an even playing field as your enemies and peers. The stat difference is already immense with just the Rings and Back Pieces. Wait until you can wear all Purple or all Red. Out of the Four different Guilds I’m in, every single player aside from one or two have quit. This gear grind BS is not what we signed up for.

Anyway, no chance you’ll be making friends in game. Your enounters will be brief. You’ll use GW2LFG.com to find a group for a Dungeon or Fractal or 2 and as soon the rewards are handed out the party will split as if it never even exsisted. And due to the DR you can’t hang around that area for too long. You have to move on to the next thing you can do to get ahead. It’s a really sad time for Tyria.

This will make it stick so any time you travel or have to open and close it, your inventory pane will be in the same spot and size .

Developer Livestream Discussion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Theplayboy.6417

Theplayboy.6417

The technical format was horrible, using a single mic for three people only works when the mic is passed around, for some of the questions the mic was held by one person while another was speaking which made it difficult to hear what was being said, a directional mic like Blue Microphones Snowball or proper lapel mics would have fixed this.

The lack of media training your designers have made this live-stream horrible to listen to, it was filled with umms and ahhs which makes the speaker sound less informative, speakers often read half the question aloud before answering it, this is problematic as it doesn’t give full disclosure of WHAT is being talked about to the viewer (who may not have the questions in front of them,) essentially read the whole question, none of the question or paraphrase.

What is the point of having a Q&A when you can’t discuss or mention much of the information people are wanting to know? Sure it does count as developers talking to the community but we (the community) only got generic (sometimes already answered) information that is close to unusable by us.

What was the point of live-streaming this when there was no immediate interaction with the audience? This could have been done better as a standalone piece of media on youtube, which would have allowed for slightly more editing (to remove the umms and ahhs) and probably remove the need for mic sharing. It just looked like a PR stunt to say “look, we care about communicating with you guys, we can use technology too!”

Great, you talked to us… but you didn’t deliver much by way of meaningful information and it was done in a pointless format with under-trained hosts, it seems like you don’t really care about your audience if this is the best you could produce with your resources.

I feel that this the best post in the entire thread and also more informative then the Q&A Session and of course the creator gets infracted for it……

Seriously why even bother having a live stream Q&A if you aren’t going to answer any real questions? I tuned in expecting to hear about the back tracking of philopshy, gear grind, gear gap in WvWvW, class issues, DR Complaints, Guild Halls, More PvP Modes, and valid sPvP concerns. What I actually got was a lecture on opportunity costs, why the conquest/capture points type is the greatest kittening thing of all time, and how Ele AOE is OP. Oh yeah and I heard “Ummmm” a heck of a lot. What a complete joke and waste of my time. There was a better Q&A going on between the viewers in the chat log.

And FYI the only thing OP about Ele is the fact that they can’t be killed when defending a keep. You can down them but they’ll just mist form and walk right back into their keep where they can self heal in complete safety. Fix: Do not allow Ele’s to go through keep/tower/structure portals while using the Downed Mist Form ability.

On a side note stop saying eSport. Guild Wars 2 sPvP is the furthest thing from eSport. If it becomes an eSport it will be because the community makes that way and not a moment before then. To expand on the developer comments it’s not the lack of an elo system, leaderboard, or observation mode that’s the problem. It’s the overall design and game type. It’s gets extremely boring after even a short amount of time. On top of that winning a tournament feels extremely underwhelming. The complete opposite of how it felt to win the Hall of Heroes or beat a top 25 GvG team in GW1.

I disagree. I enjoy Jumping Puzzles as much as you enjoy having Alts. But back to the OP don’t you fret sir, more jumping puzzles are on the way! And they will hopefully be much more difficult. I was listening to a podcast and they interviewed the developer of the Mad King’s Clocktower. He stated that what he’s currently working on will make people go crazy. I can’t wait for it. As far as PvE is concerned, Jumping Puzzles are my favorite things to do. Unlike most PvEasy content, Jumping Puzzles are skill based. Theplayboy.6417

It’s funny, there are now four threads on the front page about the same thing, all phrased slightly differently, but about the same thing. The problem with discussing the issue from the first tier of gear is that you have people trying to minimize the problem based upon a relatively small difference in stats. The problem, as each thread ultimately gets to is vertical progression. We are not talking about a small difference in stats, we are talking about a process that leads to a large difference in stats over time. Vertical progression progresses by periodically raising the power level of players. It makes no sense whatsoever to argue about the first three pieces of a new, more powerful tier of gear.

The devs said we would have vertical progression in the game moving forward. Consider the words that make up the element of game design. Vertical: the power level increases. Progression: it continually increases over time. They said the power curve would be low. I suppose when you have a gear grind you can have a slow grind, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a gear grind treadmill.

In one of the other threads a person posted a video that details why vertical progression really needs to see the door in gaming. Or, at least there needs to be alternatives for players of games. GW2 was to be that alternative but I sense the devs got spooked for some reason by players who bought a football and now want to play baseball with it. Here’s the video link:

http://taugrim.com/2012/04/19/why-games-should-scale-horizontally-instead-of-vertically/

This. Plus some of what Wintyre has posted.

In my case, GW2 had fun PvE that allowed me to quickly get to max level where I bought a bunch of karma yellows and started to WvW while I worked on exotics. To me, WvW and sPVP was the end-game and from what the devs had said plus the way GW worked, seemed like a nice place to PvP/WvW without worrying about progression every month.

As soon as Ascended gear showed up I pretty much lost most of my interest. I have chased carrots more than enough in past MMOs to know that, fun for awhile but ultimately it just makes for horrible PvP and very boring or annoying PvE. It ruins PvP because you end up with huge gear gaps between new players and old players, which leads to dwindling numbers and eventually empty servers. That could take a long time for GW2 and the gear gap is small atm, but it has already started, which is really sad.

Its a very good game that I’ll probably pop into but the choices by the devs since launch are taking the game in a direction I really dislike.

Agree with both posts. Very well said. I constantly find myself doing things I don’t want to do, such as run CoF a million times, just to get the armor and weapons I need in order to stay on an even playing field with my peers. What upsets me the most though is all of the people crying for Vertical Progression never game a kitten about Guild Wars, never played the original, and never wanted or cared for Guild Wars 2. They are looking for WoW 2 and while they were off playing WoW I was playing Guild Wars. I stuck with Guild Wars and used to have so much faith in the developer team. Now however, I am questioning my brand loyalty.

Anti-ascended gear: What do you want?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Theplayboy.6417

Theplayboy.6417

My main gripe with Ascended gear is that the grind required to get one piece will pretty much make sure you’ll never play around with builds. Want to turn your maxed Power warrior into a maxed Condition Damage warrior? Sure, just get 300 ectos and 1500 t6 mats!

GW1 was all about build-making and experimentation, but now it looks like you’ll be locked into a single build type in GW2. I don’t see a way out of this situation without a radical change to the way gear works in PvE.

I love this thread and I really enjoy most of the posts. But this one above a million times over needs to be read and re-read by the developers. After you invest so much time and effort into getting the gear you need, yes “need” just to stay competitive in both PvE and WvWvW switching builds, traits, and weapons is a major pain in the rear. Everyone gets bored with the game because they are all using the same exact weapons, traits, and skills for 900+ hours straight. The only time you can viably switch it up is in sPvP.

Slowly Progressing

I love the Original Post and the responses. The beauty of Guild Wars 2 is in the details. Call me nubcake but I love being in Divinity’s Reach. Just walking around and listening to the music and looking at the scenery is one of my favorite things to do. Some of the NPC’s give you Way Points to the unique areas there. Forgive me if I label it incorrectly but there is a Zoo type thing in town and if you talk to the Animal Keeper she will walk from caged animal to caged animal and actually tell you about them. You can examine the book cart merchants and they describe the books the merchant cart has and a synopsis of the books. One of my favorites is in regards to a Dragon book and it actually says that if you would like to read more or understand more about the Dragons to go the Priory and read their information. It made me actually want to go to the Priory just to read.

Unforturnately though, the Devil is also in the details. In the original Guild Wars my level 20 character was maxed out in several minutes. In this game I feel like I’m constantly falling behind my peers. I want to spend my time exploring and examine every detail that the developers have put into this game, but I can’t. The reason is the gear grind. I’m not trying to bomb this thread, as I stated earlier I appreciate it; but I want to stay competative and at the top of my game. It was easy to do in the original Guild Wars but it’s not so easy to do in Guild Wars 2. If I don’t run in full exotics with superior runes I’m at a clear disadvantage in WvWvW, which I happen to love. It also takes money because a lot of the players I encounter are running gem shop boosters as well. In sPvP there are so few players running paid tournaments that my poor Wolf Rank isn’t cutting it and you need to be Tiger or above with Champ Slayer title to be taken seriously. So now I’m sucked into running the same dungeon a million times, fractal daily’s for rings, and I have to make tons of cash so that I don’t fall behind in WvWvW. At the same time I have to grind it out in sPvP so that my rank is at least respectable so people take me seriously when I want to join their group because there are so few Guilds that run paids. With a full time job, girlfriend, and life, this makes it nearly impossible because there simply aren’t enough hours in the day. Literllay, as I type this, I’m fallling behind my peers. I just wish it was like Guild Wars 1 where I could do both and always be on an even playing field but unlike the original Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2 PvE is a grind fest.

All MMOs are a grind. If you don’t like that, go play an RTS or FPS.

Not entirely true. I would say that ALMOST all MMO’s are a grind. Guild Wars 1 was not a grind. Not for gear or weapons at least. The titles were a grind but in the end they didn’t mean anything other than showing your dedication to the game. In Guild Wars 2 you have to grind or you will be at a disavantage in both PvE and WvWvW. The PvE disadvantage isn’t too noticable but it’s on the fringe. As they introduce more Purples and start scaling the Red gear up, you will see a clear difference in future content. In WvWvW there is a very real and noticable gap.

Got my first Ascended Ring from FotM 10 daily and I can’t wait to get my hands on the Rings which gives +103 Power, +68 Precision and +8% Critical damage.

Currently still sticking to my Exotic Rings because the only Ascended Ring I have is the Solaria which I equip it only during Fractals boss fights for the Agony Resistance.

Anet made the decision that they wanted some slight form of gear progression. Even though the stats on the new gear will not give you any advantages, if you want 1-3% increase go for it. If not a fully exotic toon can easily compete with someone who has some FOTM gear.

It’s much more than just 1-3%, as you can see from the GW2 Wiki here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_ascended_equipment

and these are just the rings and back items. They have yet to release other parts. Altogether it’s going to be a bigger advantage compared to Exotic stats.

This is spot on. My question is why would anyone ever want to spend their hard earned resources, such as 250 Globs of Ecto, on a Unique Exotic when it will soon be obsolete. I would be happy with the Whisperblade and Lyss but I’m not dumb enough to buy or craft them because they will soon be equal to current build Green weapons. The difference in WvWvW will be immense.

People associate anything that is similar to WoW and associate it as clone. It’s like apple suing everyone because their phones are rectangle. Then we have the people who say anything that’s not similar to wow is crap eg. the phone isn’t rectangular so it’s crap.

Actually, it’s more like when people accuse the guys that made the Lord of the Rings movies of ripping off Harry Potter. :p

Or like, back in the early days of Napster, how every song with comedy was attributed to Weird Al.

There is a 250 years difference between GW1 and GW2. In the real world, things change over the course of 250 years in terms of currency and coinage. Why wouldn’t that be also true in a game?

I have to admit the GW1 system of having ecto as the ultimate commodity was awesome. What was it roughly? 30 ecto for 100 gold? I wish I could bring all my GW1 ecto over to GW2. My Xunlai Chest was full of the stuff.

Personally, I’d like to see an MMO that had no default currency. It’d be interesting to watch and play through the period when the players inevitably shifted from pure barter to the adoption of some sufficiently rare but sufficiently commonly demanded product for use as money.

This is actually a pretty brilliant idea. Would never work though, the sheep would freak out. But back to the OP, yes it should have stayed the same. No idea what happened to Plat. It’s pretty silly.

How about this though….. In GW2 I can mine gold and then turn the mined gold into solid gold bars. I can then sell the solid gold bars on the TP. However, the solid gold bars are only worth several silver coins.

Why does ascended armor need better stats?

Hate the Idea of Ascended gear.

- Keep it as GW1. Dont add better gear after a games release. Prestige och progression should come from cosmetics only!
- WvW will be even more unbalanced.
- Already Exotics player will have to waste probably hundreds of hours to replace their already perfect set of Exotic arsenal.
- Remember Agony Resistance came from a Campaign Quest in GW1! Good times.

I think ascended gear should have the same stats as Exotics but with just added Agony resistance for Fractal of the Mists dungeon.

I’m taking a break if this game forces me to get new gear, after just spending 119G on Cultural armor and dungeon running for Exotics for transmution and thinking I’m all set to enjoy the game in WvW and Explorer the world etc. Now I dont have to worry about my gear. And then Ascended happens to satisfy the minority wich will kill the original GW1 players and in the end this minority of WoW players will go back to WoW anyway. Bam! this game is dead.

I agree entirely with this post too. Keep it like the original. Cosmetic upgrades only.

Sure. It’s all about how GW2 was designed and marketed. Unlike the first guild wars, GW2 was designed with a majority of the focus placed on PvE content and rather little focus on PvP and WvW in comparison. It was marketed as the next big MMO to rival the likes of WoW.

As such, to keep their newly found PvE fanbase playing, they need to continue expanding upon the already existing loot grind. So, I would expect to see new weapons/armor released in intervals that is better than the stuff released before it.

Well said sir. I kittening love it.

Disagree with number 1. There is plenty of group content. Just not exactly the group content that you and your buddies are looking for. I would argue that most of original Guild Wars players play MMO’s to play AGAINST other players, not with other players in a PvEasy setting. Guild Wars has always had a solo option of game play.

Agree/disagree with number 2. There should be GvG PvP like in the original Guild Wars. With very little PvP Game types Guilds are pretty much useless.

Disagree with number 3. Gear grind is for kids and people who don’t have lives. It was never a part of the original Guild Wars or ever needed. Why taint the second installment with that trash? If you want gear grind then go back to WoW. That game is dedicated to it. WoW = Gear Based game. Guild Wars 1 = Skill Based game. That’s why many of played Guild Wars instead of WoW.

Why does WvW have to be in World Completion?

Theplayboy.6417

I think most of us are totally NOT INTERESTED in killing other players.

Are you freakin kidding me? You do realize this is an ONLINE game right?

what has the fact that it’s an online game got to do with it ??
Realy support your point here or just don’t bother to reply ty…
Look the simple fact is WvW is NOT part of the world so therefore should not be part of the 100% map completion..
And the PROOF that it is not part of the world is if you press ’’M’’ on your keyboard you DO NOT see the WvW maps show up in the WORLD MAP.

I enjoy both the PvE and the PvP portions of GW2, but correct me (nicely hopefully) if I’m wrong here. I know there are POIs in dungeons too, which, if you press “M” on your keyboard you can see the entrances (if your the right level or above, unless you have explored the area already), but you cannot see their maps on the world map. And unless the POIs in the dungeons don’t count towards world completion your statement doesn’t carry that much weight.

I wouldn’t dream of correcting you..
However.. ;p
I have 2 lvl 80 now one with full 100% map completion and the other on 85% so far, unless im suffering from a severe case of brain fail i can’t recall any dungeons having poi ‘’in them’’ that count towards world completion.
I may be wrong of course, im getting old now so you may correct me {nicely pls} if i am wrong.. : }

All dungeons have POI’ s in them. However, they do not count towards World Completion. I believe that they should include all dungeons / all paths though. I also like that WvWvW is included in World Completion; for the record .

Do the npc players ignore you in the other maps?
No didnt think so, what you are saying is im a bad i can kill npcs but not players please nerf the game.
either that or spend some time in wvw and see it can be fun, the added danger that you could actually die rather than auto attack and afk help the time pass

I think most of us are totally NOT INTERESTED in killing other players..
And the only reason most people are in WvW is because its one of the easiest and most efficient ways to farm Karma.
Oh and its full of underwater farming botts too..
And people camped in the jumping puzzle 24 hours a day to get there ‘’easy kills’’
The only Added danger in it is if one zerg is going clockwise round the map and the other is going anti clockwise and they accidently bump into each other.
Even then with the culling issue you dont see 90% of the people on either side so where is the excitement in that.??
Killed by invisibility.. ;p
{Edit to agree with op} and yes i agree with the op WvW should Never had been made a part of world completion.. thats a fact.. end of story..

The main reason I play is to kill other players.

Dungeon Merch Purchases to Account Bound ???

in Suggestions

Posted by: Theplayboy.6417

Theplayboy.6417

The Tokens are account-bound.

Why didn’t you put your tokens in the bank and get your Guardian to purchase the desired runes?
Yes, it is your fault, but it sounds more like you’re fishing for sympathy instead of taking responsibility for your own mistake.

So, there’s no serious validation here to get ANet to change anything.

The point of Tokens being account-bound while Dungeon-Vendor items are soul-bound is to give players lee-way to give leftover tokens from main characters to their alt.’s. ANet does not want you grinding for all your tokens on a single character.

Purchases are soulbound to (ever so slightly) discourage grinding for tokens on a specific character and not earn anything on your other characters.

Throwing a few leftover tokens into the bank and doing the actual dungeon-token collecting on the character you intend to have the gear on is easier (and arguably more fun) then grinding on one character and constantly switching to make repeated transfers/purchases.

And we all know there’s always a few tokens leftover when you’ve completed whatever set you wanted.

Jack Burton do not listen this kid. I agree that your vendor purchase should have been account bound. However, I don’t think there should be a such a thing as account or soul bound. Everything should be tradeable, even after you use it.

Theplayboy.6417

I could not agree less with the OP, grind is what made WoW the boring thing (not a game if it’s boring) it is now, so NO GRIND FOR GW2. And since progression IS grind, I have to say no to it.

You do realize that GW2 is a RPG right? it is supposed to have progression, people keep calling it a grind for some reason but it’s not, if you’re gonna call gearing up a grind then so are dungeons which are a big part of GW2, I guess you’d like a game where as soon as you create a character you hit level 80 and get a full set of exotics right away, don’t you? And the raid grinding is what made wow a fun and successful game

Exionn you’re playing the wrong game . Go back to WoW . There will be no further progression, especially in PvP . The gear grind is bad enough as it is and goes completely against the original philosophy of the developers. Guild Wars 1 had it right. It’s all you WoW kids that trying to ruin the second installment . If you want progression and raiding you’ll need to look elsewhere. The devs need to get back to their core competency and focus on balanced fun and engaging PvP with absolutely no progression; only titles and emotes.

Really unnecessary to have such a massive, massive wall of text.

I play on Crystal Desert too and there’s loads of people everywhere, always people for events in every zone, lots of people in WvW. Maybe you’re just logging on at too bizarre times ?

Do not listen to the Fan Boys they will defend the game no matter what. I enjoyed reading your “wall of text”. The truth is that low level zones are dead, mid level zones are dead, and high level zones are dead. The only populated areas are WvWvW during peak hours and Lions Arch. Lions Arch will most likely be too populated though and you will pushed to an overflow server. At whic point it’s unlikely you’ll see too many Crystal Desert players, if any. Heart of the Mists is an absolute Ghost Town with the exception of the Anvil Rock server. You are more likely to see people in the Human areas because most players roll Human characters. There is a Guild Wars 2 looking for group website that is great. It’s pretty much the only way to find groups these days.

Fractal Boss Chest Exotics are account bound. It’ s total BS I know. Do not vendor or salvage it though. Wait until you have 4 account bound Exotic Weapon or Armor pieces and throw them into the Mystic Forge. You’re guaranteed a non- account bound Exotic in return. A precursor if you’re lucky .

AR/NSP/DR – all have high population servers. DR may have a larger Wv3 pop but thats because AR/NSP prob have more PvErs that only Wv3 when its a win or a massive zerg on their side running the maps PvDooring. (just opinion mind you) First week DR was in this bracket, there was a pretty even Wv3 pop for the first 3-4 days…then AR/NSP dwindled. Their pop is there, jst not in Wv3.

no disrespect to you brother, but you’re simply not helping the conversation- you’re hurting the conversation. It’s great that you have an opinion and that you’re willing to express your opinion. “Now for the sampling I can’t tell you irrefutably why…” yes we know you can’t tell us irrefutably why and we can’t tell you irrefutably why either…

No disrespect taken.

But as I and projectcedric have explained the more tries you make the more accurate your results will be.

ANet can´t reply to you on that as well as statistics stand out for themselves. They have a base chance for ectos to drop and that’s it, they can´t tell you for certain how many will drop in an X number of attempts.

Although it’s almost impossible it could happen that you made 5 tries and got ectos everytime and I salvaged 500 and got 0 ectos.

RNG is about that. It’s random even if based on a fixed percentage.

Your statement would be the true if ANet was flipping coins or Rolling Dice but the reality is that there is nothing Random about a Computer Random Number Generator. Computers do not spit out random numbers. The output only appears random. Computers have to operate within a specific set of guidelines.
