A Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game where you have to play with other people? What sorcery is this!?

Your argument sucks. Simply because it’s online multiplayer game that means the ONLY way to play is in groups and teams? Makes zero sense.

Instead of criticizing the OP why don’t you just allow him to play the game the way he wants to play game? Let people play the way they want to play and have the difficulty scale to the party size. And yes give them all the same rewards. People can group if they want to group and people can solo if they want to solo. It’s pretty simple actually.

As far the JP’s concerned just do them all at 80 if you can’t handle doing them now. I’ve done every jumping puzzle in the game and I did them all solo style.

if pve and pvp are both equially fun, i think pvers will quit before pvpers.

Guild wars 1 had everything PvPers said they could want and what ended up keeping the game was PvEers.

You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. GW1 PvE was absolute fail. GW1 was a PvP Focused game. PvP is what made GW1 a Successful game and a successful business venture. PvP players are the people that put ANet on the map. If it wasn’t for us you never would have heard of ANet and there certainly would never have been a Guild Wars 2.

The monumental success of GW1 (that took place during the height of the WoW era) proves how great and loyal a PvP player base can be. GW1 was successful for many years and ONLY because of the PvP it contained.

I love how all of the No Talent No Skill PvEasy Noobs come running into the sPvP forums to defend Anet’s decision to dedicate all of their resources towards PvE. Stop trolling the sPvP thread and get back on our knees under thedevelopers desk where you belong.

Ultimate joke is on ANet though. There are a lot of happy people out there right now by how poorly GW2 is doing in both PvP and PvE. They are losing players left and right and can’t find a way to retain their customers. They are doing everything they can to try and keep the game afloat but it’s dying. Nothing was ready at release and in a vain attempt to keep what players they have left they constantly release unfinished projects. Not once has anything been introduced nor did it work correctly when released. Everything has been an epic fail from the start. WvWvW, Culling, Dungeons, Karka One Time Guest Weekend Event, Dynamic Events, Gear Treadmill, Fractals, etc….. All of it has been a fail and not a single thing was ready to be released when it was released. The only thing they somewhat managed to do correctly is the Halloween and Christmas Events. And even those two had some major issues. However, The Mad Kings Clock Tower was the best PvE they’ve created to date. And the Capture the Gifts Arena is the most balanced and exciting PvP GW2 has ever seen. The SAB was a good idea but it isn’t even a 1/4 of the way finished and it humorously easy to complete.

GW2 is basically VaporWare at this point. They better not invest too much money in it’s future because it’s going downhill fast. Just wait until that next big MMO that has the word Scrolls in it’s title comes out. GW2 will be a complete ghost town and the PvP’ers they relied upon in GW1 will not come to their rescue.

A full solo queue PUG Group gets stuck playing against some of the [PURP] Peeps in a Pre-Made. Two Rank 20 something’s and a Rank 9 vs 4 Guys that are 50+ and a single Rank 49.

Two of the people on our team quit a few minutes into the match.

What really gets me though is that I want to play against these kinds of teams. But with people on my team that are of similar skill level. It makes for am epic match. Love the big team fights with skilled knowledgable players. I was literally emberrased by how I could do nothing because of the lack of team support.

Something has to be done now. Today I solo queud and at the start of the match a guy actually asked in say why he was level 1. This is absolutely ridiculous. I then had to explain to him what to do and what was going on. Of course the other team wins. At the end of the match it turns out that we had a Rank 3 and a Rank 1 player on our team. They got paired up with me and another 35+. I guess ANet’s stupid MMR thought that would balance out the group?

This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. I truly am considering quitting the game over this.

And how many out of those 8000 ppl still playing? maybe like 300 max

I agree with number. 300 MAX. But the fact that it had that many viewers live in the middle of the western hemisphere day means that people are still interested. This PvE noob ism isn’t helping the real situation.

I want new players and I want the Mists to be packed. But these people don’t want to play sPvP. They are only here for Laurels. It doesn’t help the scene. I want to play with players that want to be here and sPvP because they want to sPvP.

You mean like this? Look at the top scorers rank . I was the rank 7. and look at the rank 6.

The point I am trying to make is, not all pve-er are noobs in pvp. Please do not remove laurels from pvp, I am having lots of fun with solo-q, might shift my play style in the future too.

Well points don’t mean anything in tournament play. And Rangers aren’t normally Roamers. But the fact that you have 8 Cap Points, 1 Defend, 3 Neutralizes, and 7 Communes and Only 4 Kills says it all. Means that you didn’t defend a spot, and weren’t there when a node got turned over to neutral most of the time. Meaning you jumped on the node and capped it while a teammate was already capping it. In tournament play double capping is alway the wrong thing to do. Oh yeah, and you communed with the ferocity buffs a lot. This screenshot doesn’t show what you’re trying to prove.

Plus few high rank players actually play Warrior at a super high skill level because its arguably the worst class in sPvP at the moment. Those 40 something Wars are hot join heroes for all we know.

You literally made a topic complaining that new people were playing pvp.

You fundamentally don’t understand what makes a game successful.

You have it backwards Arkimedes. You’re the one who fundamentally doesn’t understand what makes a Game Successful. All this 10 Extra Laurel Monthly PvP Bug does is push the real sPvP’rs away.

These new people don’t want to be here. They don’t want to play sPvP, they don’t care to learn, and they have very little skill. The only reason they are playing in tournaments is to get their 10 Extra Laurels this month. As soon as they have it, they’re gone.

The massive influx of these players that are playing specifically for Laurels just upsets and frustrates the real sPvP community that plays tournaments on a daily basis. This community is small enough as it is and we’re already bleeding players each week because the lack of support from ANet.

The end result is that the real sPvP’rs quit and then the new Laurel Only PvP’rs get their 3 wins and go back to PvE. At which point sPvP will be left with nothing. This 10 Extra Laurel Bug needs to be corrected ASAP.

In less than 4 days the monthly will reset and things will sort of be back to normal. I reckon this only happened because the patch came at the end of the month and it didn’t take into account people that had done their pve version of the monthly before it, so they are getting rewarded with laurels by doing the pvp version as well.

In a normal setting, you would only get rewarded for doing one version of the monthly, or so it said in the patch notes.

Uh…….you know each monthly reset you will see MORE people in it than not right?

You get rewarded for both I believe, but thing is pvp monthly is 10x easier than pve.

You need to clarify that it’s 10x faster to attain not 10x easier. There is nothing easier than PvE.

This has been stated many times in multiple threads. Please put a kittening Level 20 Rank Restriction to compete in Tournament Matches.

The queue is filled with nubcakes who have no clue how to play. Especially on this week’s map, they have no idea what any of the buffs do or when they’ll spawn. Management of the Middle buff that pops at 11:30/ 5:30 and top buff at 8:30 arguably decides the match. They don’t know, don’t care, and only play just go get their Monthly Laurels.

Please put a Level 20 Rank Restriction for tournament matches. At the very least make it level 15.

However, there is also a known issue when someone leaves the queue. The roster will never get filled unless the leader hits the submit button again. But I don’t think that is your problem.

Your best bet is to submit a ticket. Good luck on ever receiving a response.

The Game Client is constantly being updated and we never find out why. The only time we do find out what’s in an update is on major patch day releases. And the major patch day release notes are often missing many of the changes.

Can you please fix both of these communication / customer relations issues?

When you update the client for any reason, provide update notes. When you do provide update notes, make sure they aren’t missing any applicable information. Pretty basic stuff here.

Is Greatsword a bad weapon?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Theplayboy.6417

Theplayboy.6417

The GS is super legit. It’s great for shatter builds but best suited for Phantasm builds. The #1 skill is weak when you’re right next to your target but does great damage at a distance, especially if you’re if you’re running beserker gear/sPvP amulet. The #2 skill causes vulnerability stack on an enemy it hits, summons a clone, and is a projectile finisher. #3 skill hits up to 3 target for mediocre damage but it’s main usefulness is that it strips a boon from everything it hits. #4 phantasm does insane damage if you’re traited correctly and it’s considered AOE and will strike up to 5 enemies dealing a ton of damage. #4 GS phantasm is easily one of the most powerful Mesmer skills in game. #5 skill is an effective crowd control skill that creates separation and can be used to knock enemy players off ledges and cliffs.

The GS is one of the most effective weapons a Mesmer has at his disposal. Anyone that thinks otherwise has no clue what they’re talking about and obviously doesn’t play Mesmer at a high level. It’s really just a Learn to Play issue with some people. If someone gives you grief about a using a GS you can laugh to yourself about them being a super noob.

The amount of grind just reached a new all-time-high. Anet really wants to lock everybody into one char with only one build.
I’m from europe and play on a US-server. I could only play Guild missions if i would stay up really late at night.

This game gets more tedious every patch. Time to uninstall the game and delete the password. FO Anet you will not waste any more of my time.

The thing is this game GW2 is the lowest grind mmorpg to date maybe you do not like mmorpgs?

This is absolutely not true. I’m guessing you haven’t played many MMO’s including Guild Wars 1. I bet you’re one of those EQ, Eve Online, and WoW players.

The Laurel portion and/or Guild Commendations needed to get these earrings are ridiculous. Spending 1,000 hours on a single character just to be able to perform at highest efficiency possible in WvWvW is absurd. Time Played should never trump skill, ever. Winning a 1v1 in WvWvW just because of a gear gap is not okay. It’s not the worlds fault that some people fail at real life, have infinite time, and try to fill the emptyness inside with virtual junk.

“Ooohhhh all I really want is a guy who plays videos games all day and night” ~ said no attractive girl ever.

So there was no grind in GW1 i though you had to at least work for skins and the runes for both your own gear and your npcs gear. At the same time you had to unlock your npc and new zones though quest. If your going to call what GW2 has a grind then you MUST call what GW1 had was a grind too.

Side note if that your best argument to go more after a person attk your not going to last long on these forms.

As I suspected you never played Guild Wars 1. Let me educate you a bit, I had two PvE Characters that were completely maxed out within the first month an less than 200 hours of game play. I can log onto to those character right now almost 8 years later and they are still at max possible stats. They may not have not have tormented weapons or head to toe in Obsidian Armor but they are the statistically equal to every other player in RA, CA, AB, JQ, FA, GvG, and HA. Not only that but I can change these characters weapons, traits, skills, and armor in a second to many completely different builds. I can’t do that in Guild Wars 2. If I stop playing the game for as little as 1 month I will NEVER be able to catch back up to my peers. If I take a break from GW2 I will never come back.

I think you need reevaluate what it is your trying to accomplish by playing online video games. It seems to me that you’re playing only to progress your character and for virtual trash and not because you actually enjoy playing the game. If you aren’t rewarded with a virtual items or a stat increase then you’re not happy. I suggest looking deeper into your life to figure out why this is. No amount of progession or virtual loot will fill the hole in your life. WoW has taught you that all MMO’s must have grind. This simply isn’t true. All this new tier of gear really does is lock every player into a specific set of stats.

If it wasn’t for all of the grind hypnotized freaks amd their endless crying on the forums GW2 would never have even introduced Ascended level items. Guild Wars 2 is bleeding players left and right.

1.) Talk about the future of sPvP and the direction the team is taking sPvP going forward. Stop talking about balance. Even if you get all of the classes perfectly balanced(which is impossible) it still won’t fix sPvP. Balance will not bring back older players or encourage current players to keep playing.

2.) Abandon the failed conquest + secondary objective game type. Create a new tournament that focuses on fun instead of eSport. Constantly remind yourself that “If we make it fun, the players will come!”. And by come I mean play.

3.) Never use the word eSport ever again. Let the players use that term when they feel it appropriate.

What is ME3?

You already get full points for any player that gets killed so long as you’ve done damage to them. There are defending, attacking, and skirmisher bonus points that get awarded. So you’re asking for additional bonus points on top of the full points and current bonus points for attacking the called target? However, it might get newer players used to focusing fire so you could be on to something here. The Skirmisher bonus should be removed entirely in my opinion.

Killing blow points? Do you want points when you down someone or when you stomp someone? There is already a huge issue with noobs that chase enemey players around the map relentlessly hoping to get a kill instead of focusing on the capture points and the secondary objective. Noobs also almost always go for the stomp instead of the Rez in team fights where both teams have players go down at the same time. I think any situation where a players choose to stomp instead of rezzing, excluding certain scenarios of course, should not be encouraged.

I have two problems with pvp

in PvP

Posted by: Theplayboy.6417

Theplayboy.6417

It’s stupid simple actually….No matter what every class has a weapon skill, utility, or profession ability that will stop you from taking damage. When the burst thief pops out of nowhere all you have to do is hit that key as soon you start taking damage and you’re good. You’ve ruined his burst and he’s used up most of his initiative. If every option available to you is on a cool down when the burst happens then you’re probably dead. Either way it’s on you to be on the lookout when you know the other team has a burst thief roamer.

Recognizing the real Mesmer is also stupid simple. Uncheck show all enemies and show NPC names in your options screen. Keep only the Show All Players box checked. The player or the illusion you have targeted will be the only one with a name above their head. It’s very simple to see which one is the real one. Use the call target command along with this and you’ll always know the correct one.

As for Khyra’s post above these are easy Mesmers to beat. Phantasms look ghost like and do all the damage. Clones look like the Mesmers and do almost zero damage, I’m talking line single number damage from clones when they attack. Clones are meant to be shattered. A phantasm mesmer rarely has more than 1 clone up. They try to bring up Phantasms and keep them up. Kill the phantasms and you kill their damage. Even with the 20% more health trait and signet if illusions the phantasms still go down in a couple of hits. As soon as you see a phantasm pop up, dodge, then kill it, then go back to killing the Mesmer.

It happens to me all the time. I use a skill and then use a skill after it and it ends up canceling the first skill I used as if I had hit the escape button or something. And when you cancel a skill that didn’t activate there a short cool down timer. I think it’s 3 seconds but it might be 2 seconds. If you use a skill during another skill it cancels the first skill and starts the next one. You end up getting the full skill reset timer on a skill you canceled by accident.

In the original Guild Wars I could use another skill while my current skill was being used and my next skill would be in “warmup”. The only time my skills were canceled is when I specifically used my “cancel” hot key. In Guild Wars 2 you can’t even reassign the cancel hot key. It’s stuck as the Escape key and all of your skills cancel each other as you use them. It’s a really stupid setup that never should have made it past QA.

This shows that conquest can appear in several different “modes” and still be refreshing enough. And why is this observation important? Because the devs have clearly stated that they want to balance this game around one mode, to make it easier to balance. I don’t think it’s a bad thing, as long as the secondary mechanics are relevant enough to keep the entire playstyle refreshing.

So, (again), the pvp devs can also decide to do the same thing their pve comrades are doing in the last updates: take what already exists and add into it. That basically means something like:

Example: Take Foefire’s map, and make the lord slaying mechanic as relevant as the conquest nodes. Improve the gate’s defenses, and add some sort of bombs or carriers to destroy gates or repair them at each node;
Example 2: Take Temple’s map, and make the node-capturing buff appear every few minutes instead of only once, and make the killpoints buffs far more relevant.

Theoretically, we could probably get all this in very few months, if the devs wish it. And what would be left from GW1? A casual deathmatch map (it can always be added to custom arenas/ hotjoin), ha (a 3-round tourney can substitute it as long as other maps and new maps get more diversity) and gvg.

DiogoSilva your post doesn’t cut it. Conquest mode doesn’t cut it. The proof is in the pudding and the Devil is in the details. The PvP’rs have spoken and have spoken loudly by quitting the game. Why? Because it’s not fun. You can throw around all the eSport terminology you want and claim that it wasn’t competetive enough and that the proper tools weren’t in place and blah blah blah… People stopped playing because it isn’t fun. People didn’t play Guild Wars 1 for eSport. They played for fun. When it stopped being fun, they stoppped playing. People are still playing after many years.

The mass sPvP exodus took place within the first 3 months of release. People realized that Guild Wars 2 didn’t have that “it”, that “we did it!” feeling. I personally don’t feel anything when I win an sPvP game in Guild Wars 2. Even when I win a 3 round tournament. It still doesn’t feel like I’ve won, accomplished, or achieved anything. It is extremely underwhelming. Which is the exact opposite of what I felt when I won the HoH/HA or beat a top 10 guild in GvG.

Honestly the Capture the Gift Winterday PvP event is twice as fun as any of the sPvP conquest maps. The new map is gorgeous but it’s the same steaming pile of trash as most of the other. The only map they actually did well on is Khylo.

They need to realize at some point that this a failed attempt at a fail game type. Keep it in the game because it’s still a decent way to waste time, but stop trying to resurrect what’s already dead, move on, and focus on the next big thing.

-Remove the 3 round tournament. People never do it anymore.

-Create a real solo queue. Anything other than the “join solo” option needs to be considered as a pre-made queue.

-Your MMA Rating sucks. Fix it or remove it completely. I click “join solo” and I get stuck on a team with only 1 other 30+ Rank players, 2 Players that are under rank 10, and 1 player that is no longer online. We end up getting matched up against a premade guild group of 4 players that are all rank 40+ and 1 solo queue random that is also rank 40+. MMR my kitten #8230;……….

-Get rid of 225 of the hotjoin servers. Having 325 servers when only 20 are in use is stupid. Seriously, cap it off at 100 but more like 25 with the current amount of players.

-Make the Heart of the Mists one server for all of NA and one server for all of EU. Forget the different shards for each server. I promise it won’t get too busy and if players ever to get out into and overflow we’ll view it as a good thing.

-Focus on an entirely new PvP tournament type. HA or Tomb of Kings or Hall of Heroes I don’t care……give me something to get excited about. Most importanly make it FUN to play. If you make it Fun they will come!

-Get rid of the current amulets and jewels. Put in PvP Versions of Ascended Trickets and What not.

-Open up the gates to the PvE Players. I know it’s an utter sin but its the only way to save PvP. Let them come in with their current gear/weapons/build. No food or buffs however.

-Provide at least something useful. A freaking consumable jug of XP or something that can be bought via glory. Anything!

-Never use the word or phrase eSport ever again. You don’t get to decide what game gets to become a part of the eSport scene. We the players decide and we’ll let you know if you ever get there.

You want this junk to be difficult to obtain so that only you and other people like you who have an infinite amount of free time (insert all the fail at RL reasons here) will be able to obtain. Thus, making you more powerful than a majority of other players so you can rely on gear to getting you through content and WvWvW instead of skill. Additionally having all this virtual junk this will make you feel like you actually accomplished something during the 2,000 hours of time you spent playing the video game. In truth all you’ve really accomplished is that you played a video game for 2,000 hours and that’s it, nothing more.

The adventure is the reward. The journey is the adventure and the adventure never has to end. All of the top highest stat gear should extremely easy to obtain. By easy I mean once you reach level 80 you should be able to spend 10k on Karma and get a full set of ugly standard looking max level ascended item gear. Yes a full compliment of weapons, armor, runes, and sigils for under 10k Karma TOTAL. The only thing that should be difficult to obtain are unique skins. Players should able to switch their builds on a dime while not in combat. You want to do burst, do burst damage, you want a condition build, switch to condition build, you want healing power and survivability build, go for it, you want a support role, easily done, you want to switch to a runner build, okay there it is. You want to have a specific different setup for WvWvW and each dungeon in the game, done. You should be able to save specific skills, weapons, and armor as templates and when out of combat switch to it within seconds with only a few clicks of the mouse. Just like in the original Guild Wars.

In short. Take your grinding Philosophy back to another MMO. Trying to appease you and all the other WoW kids has ruined the entire Guild Wars franchise. Anet forgot their core competencies and where they came from. The ridiculous grind for max stat gear is the worst decision ever……. As is extremely apparent by the underwhelming retention rate of players. The developers have this flawed idea that ascended gear grind is going to save the game when in reality all it’s doing is killing the game for many current players and at the same time creating a giant barrier to entry for all of the new players in WvWvW. Epic Fail.

Opinions & Concerns about upcoming PvP changes

Hello, because of the growing interest in this topic, we want to collect your feedback in this thread. Please use this thread to post your opinions and concerns about the upcoming PvP changes.

Thank you.

- Make it so that whatever character you signed up for the tournament with is the character you have to use. No looking at the team composition and reacting accordingly. What you start with is us what you play with. Period.

-Fix it so that the leader of the queue doesn’t have to keep hitting the submit button every single time a player leaves the queue. It should re-submit automatically.

-If a person signs up then logs off of the game completely, remove that person from the queue!

-Do something about AFK’rs. Give the team an easy AFK Report Option. If all 4 members report the character for AFK’ing, suspend that persons tPvP privelages until the next Daiky Reset timer. Allow them to still play hotjoin sPvP during their suspension time.

-Randomize the Map Rotation! Lets try to keep it interesting. My PvP Tab states that The Forest if Nifhell is my Favorite Map. I promise you it’s not.

-Please for the love of all things good remove the Confirmation Input requirement when salvaging gear. It is the most frustrating thing to have to double click on the salvage kit, then click on the item we want to salvage, thn click “accept” when the window pops up. Then repeat for evey single item in our inventory. It makes me not want to open my tournament chests. Use the same requirement as salvaging white items in PvE.

-Allow us to throw into the Mystic Forge 4 Copper Tournament Chests for 1 Silver Chest. 4 Silver Chests for 1 Gold Tournament Chest. 4 Gold Tournament Chests for 1 Platinum Tournament Chest that contains???? Get creative. Make the Platinum Chest contain 1 single random Item that is not already in you PvP Locker. Trade in 4 Platinum Chests into the Forge for a single PvE Account Bound Exotic.

-I think the Skritt Burgler should make a surprise appearance in some matches or in the Heart of the Mists. Make him fast and worth 50 Points on last hit. When he shows up during a match make an on screen announcement. When in the Mista have him drop level 70~79 PvP Goodies.

The issue is big because of PvP. Condition Necro’s and Trap Rangers are a huge part of the meta at the moment. If conditions get buffed and are tracked independently the name of the game will have to change to Condition Wars instead of Guild Wars. All of the sPvP and WvWvW Fights will come down to who can apply the most conditions the fastest.

The best way to handle conditions and it’s effects in MMO was already in place in Guild Wars 1. Why fix something that isn’t broken? I understand they wanted to “innovate” but they literally went backwards in this area.

Uhm… no? How often do you see people in pvp with 25 stacks of bleed? Granted, the attackers know that it would be pointless to stack them higher, but it wouldn’t actually change that much in pvp, while greatly improving the pve part of the game.

Yeah this made me laugh a little too. If the meta shifts to people stacking condition builds, then people will just start to carry around more condition clears, pushing the meta back the other way. You have ways of dealing with condition spam builds in sPVP, just like you have ways of dealing with zerker builds.

The issue is PVE, not PVP.

Ahhh PvE’rs. I forgot who i was dealing with, forgive me. It’s apparent that neither of you spend much time in Tournament matches in sPvP (if any). The point isn’t to stack 25 bleeds on someone. Setting a single condition on them isn’t going to do anything because unlike PvE the enemy can actually think and react. Thus, you put one condition on them and they’ll use a skill to remove it or send it back to you. It’s very easy to deal with one condition. The point of a condition build and what is currently being run by Trap Rangers and Condition Necro’s is to literally dump as many conditions as you can on the enemy can keep them coming on. It’s a high pressure build in which you apply as many as you can on the enemy and keep applying them until the enemy is overwhelmed. Since there is no official Healer class the only person in charge of removing conditions from you is you. Nobody cares that you’re blind, chilled, poisoned, bleeding, vulnerable, weakened, crippled, and/or confused. It’s up to you to remove all of those conditions.

I understand that from your PvE experience you think it may be as simple as just using a skill to get rid of a condition when it’s placed on you but it’s not. However, in your defense most of the people playing tournament sPvP are already running at least 1 condition removal utility and bunkers are usually running 2. However, we have only 3 utility slots and these skills have longer cool downs then skills that the enemy is using to apply the conditions. On top of that the game is based on the Capture Point method. Thus, you have to be on the point in order to capture it or keep it from getting captured. So Anet is forcing people to fight over 3 tiny pieces of geography. So if you want to win it’s not as if you can just back up away from the red circles all the time. Often times you have to fight through it all and the only Capture Point big enough to kite around on is the Graveyard.

I am okay with a separate PvE vs PvP split for Conditions and how they’re applied but I think it would confuse newer players and frustrate PvE’rs as they attempt to tackle more challenging enemies than can found in the PvE world.

I feel so type-casted as a PVE’er… but I actually mainly play WvW, which I guess you could consider PVEish…

Not sure what you are arguing? The post and subsequent discussion was about the problem that arises with condition based heros when there are MULTIPLE sources of longer lasting poison/burn skills, and over 25 stacks of bleeding.

Fixing the max stack bleeding problem has nothing to do with sPVP and arguably nothing to with WvW (extreme cases of Epidemic aside). How many times do you find yourself with 25 stacks of bleed in spvp? This discussion was about the DPS loss at at that point.

What does changing the 25 stack limit to 50 have anything to do with Spvp? Or changing the priority system of the stack?

Okay I’m board with you. Do anything you want in PvE and make it so everyone contributes their fair no matter whether they are direct damage or condy damage. Just please don’t make it too powerful in sPvP. It will completely take over (it’s already starting to actually).

I agree. HoH needs to make a return. At some point they are going to have to realized that they failed hard on the sPvP and that it will NEVER be eSport. So they should stop using that term.

Let’s take a journey back in time shall we? An HoH/HA Team consists of 8 Man Pre-Made Groups. There was no HA Solo Queue. Keep in mind that each map is designed differently and the furhter into the rounds you get, the more majestic the maps become. By majestic I mean it starts in the underground when everything is rock and stone progresses upwards until the map is angelic and everything is some form of gold. And this is how I remember it not how the wiki states. So I may be slightly off but it’s pretty close. Please keep in mind that this was like 7 years ago.

Round 1: Deathmatch
8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team Death Match (2 Teams each consisting of 8 players).Team NPC Priests when alive resurrects players every 2 minutes. Last team to remain standing wins.

Round 2: Deathmatch
8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team (6 Teams each consisting of 8 players). Team NPC Priests when alive resurrects players every 2 minutes. Flag Capture Points deals out damage to nearby enemies. Can be capped by any team by use of flag.

Round 3: King of the Hill
8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team (3 Teams each consisting of 8 players). NPC Ghostly Hero is an Ally and can “Capture the Alter” so long as no other Ghostly Hero has the Alter Capture. Ghostly Hero can be killed but is resurrected every 2 minutes. When time runs out, the team who’s Ghostly Hero owns the Altar wins the Match. If no Ghostly Hero owns the Alter when time exprires all teams fail.

Round 4: Relic Run (Capture the Flag)
8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team (2 Teams each consisting of 8 players). Each team has a Relic and a Ghostly Hero. Return the Enemy Relics to your Ghostly Hero for a single point. First team to reach 3 points wins. If time expires the team with the most points win. If time expires and the score is tied, the team who scored last wins. Ghostly Hero can be killed thus preventing enemies from turning their relic. He automatically resurrects every 2 minutes. Body Blocking is a part of Guild Wars 1. You are not allowed to move through an enemy.

Round 5: Deathmatch
8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team 8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team Death Match (4 Teams each consisting of 8 players).Team NPC Priests when alive resurrects players every 2 minutes. Last team to remain standing wins.

Round 6: King of the Hill

Ghostly Hero can be killed thus preventing enemies from turning their relic. He automatically resurrects every 2 minutes. Body Blocking is a part of Guild Wars 1. You are not allowed to move through an enemy.

Round 9: King of the Hill (Hall of Heroes)
8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team vs 8 Man Team (3 Teams each consisting of 8 players). NPC Ghostly Hero is an Ally and can “Capture the Alter” so long as no other Ghostly Hero has the Alter Capture. Ghostly Hero can be killed but is resurrected every 2 minutes. When time runs out, the team who’s Ghostly Hero owns the Altar wins the Match. If no Ghostly Hero owns the Alter when time exprires the team who’s ghost held the alter wins.

Yes you could use your PvE Character in HoH. Yes you could use PvP Only Characters in HoH. No they did not have advantage over one another. Only their looks. When you won the Hall of Heroes an announcment was made Game Wide stating “Such and Such Guild has won the Hall of Heroes”. Yes you do get PvE Rewards for winning the Hall of Heroes.

Also think about how many people were playing this PvP mode. It was insane and there were thousands of people playing it at any give time. In Guild Wars 2 a few months after release they can’t even get together 8 teams consisting of 5 players each. They failed hard on PvP in Guild Wars 2. Guess that’s what happens when you make a PvE Focused game.

Braxx mad. He can’t prove his worth in PvP cause Thieves are too “OP” for him. That’s why he wants PvP to be separate from easy mode, aka WvW and PvE.

He’s from Yak’s Bend. That server has the worst players in the game……. Every time I end up grouping with someone from Yak’s Bend in PvE I have to exercise a lot of patience to not rage quit because they play at such a poor level. I grouped with an Ele recently Yat Yat that probaby can’t even tie his own shoes let alone play the game properly. And this is in PvE for crying out loud.

Downed state has too much impact

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Theplayboy.6417

Theplayboy.6417

I normally agree with CritticKitten and his posts but here I have to say that I have a very real problem with the downed state in it’s current form. Because of the downed state a lot of time the better player won’t win. Before you disagree completely please hear me out. Some downed states are much better than others. In WvWvW for example an Ele can run out and defend a keep as much as he wants with zero fear of actually dying so long as the keep or tower portal is within range and the gate will be up for the needed time for him or her to self heal. On top of that if you ever get into a 1 v 1 downed fight against an Elementalist you’re guaranteed to lose. The reason is because they get a nice a little heal when they mist form and so even if you’re spamming attack skills at each other they can mist and heal much more than what you will if you cast your self heal the instanst they mist form. But this isn’t just about Ele’s and their downed state. It’s about the balance between all classes. If you get into a 2 v 1 situation and it’s a Mesmer and any other class you’re up against. Well you have to kill the Mesmer 2nd always no matter what. The reason is because their downed attack ability causes confusion on each hit along with damage. So even when you’re winning if you down the Mesmer first, you’re going to lose the second fight more often than not. The engineer downed state is a joke and their only real defense has a warmup timer on it. The ranger, guardian, and warrior interrupt’s are too easy to avoid. The thief downed state abilities are good but not great. They really only fool newer players. And in high level sPvP play it’s more about who kills a guy first in full team fights than anything else, thus making some classes better than others because of their ability to remove themselves from the middle of the fight.

I see ANet’s point in the downed state mechaninc though. They don’t want someone to run for miles in WvWvW then get instagibbed and have to make the run all over again. It would be a huge turn off to newer players. Even in sPvP they don’t want that to happen, where a player walks out of his spawn and is instatly dead and has to wait 30 seconds (tournament timer). This isn’t a FPS where a head shot will take a player out of the match momentarily, or shouldn’t be at least which is the reason I believe the downed state is present in the first place. That being said though the imbalance is pretty high between classes.

My suggestion is to do a PvP / PvE split. Keep things the way they are in PvE. Let them have their abilities. In PvP whether it be WvWvW or sPvP increase the downed player health back to what it used to be and give them only two options. Self Heal and Rally. They cannot attack and have no other abilities at their disposal other than the self heal ability and there is still a chance that their teammates can revive them or rally off of kill. And I don’t mean a PvE kill in WvWvW. It has to be another player that is killed that makes them rally. I think my recomendation would keep the majority of the players happy and at the same time remove the downed state woes in PvP situations.

PvP Rank Progression Too Slow

By the way… make sure you use 50% Glory boost to your advantage. You get a ton of glory from it and rank up much faster with it up.

This is wrong. Glory Boosters do not help you gain Glory Rank Points. They only increase your spendable Glory.

To the OP it is slow but it’s also good. It shouldn’t be a grind for a month and get your legendary like in PvEasy. Having a higher rank should be very Prestigous. I feel your pain though because I came across a Rank 60 and got to see the Shark Finisher first hand. It’s legit. Completely puts my rank 32 to shame. Speaking of finishers do you really want everyone in the game to be able to /rank and show off their Dragon Finisher? Never going to happen. It should take years but I think we’ll have people there in less than a year in Guild Wars 2.

If I remember correctly there was only 1 single player that reached Fame Rank 15 in Guild Wars 1 and had the Dragon /rank emote.. His character name was Starcraft.

What I fail to see is how you even let this happen. The screenshot clearly shows that you got hit with Steal and then Backstab. Where is the Cloak and Dagger? It’s not there. This means the thief hit you with Steal then had had to use a stealth skill then had to get into position behind you in order to hit you with his backstab for that high of an amount. With all the tools you have to avoid this from happening it looks to me like you were just easy prey and need more practice.

mesmer clone overall power reduction

in Suggestions

Posted by: Theplayboy.6417

Theplayboy.6417

Mesmers with clones are over powered. I would like to suggest that you create a formula for the more clones a mesmer has deployed, there is a resultant small reduction in power for the player.

What do I mean? Well, if a mesmer’s original power overall is 1000, and she has 1 clone that can do 100 damage, the power is reduced by 25% the amount of damage the clone can do. The resulting power of the mesmer is now 975. If she has 2 clones with combined power/damage of 200, the player has a reduction of overall power down to 950.

A formula base you could use to craft this for the game is:

current power = player power – ([clone 1 power if deployed + clone 2 power if deployed + clone 3 power if deployed] * .25)

Why do I recommend .25 reduction in power? The clones are all different with different traits. They also do not continuously attack. There are pauses with the attacks that a clone does. .25 means the clone is attacking 1/4 of the time it is in combat.

With confusion/shatter build and the clones able to do damage on top of the mesmer doing damage and you doing damage to yourself due to confusion, the mesmer is one of the most OP classes. By using clones, there is a gain in damage the mesmer can generate due to the number of added player clones doing damage along with the player doing damage. This formula will even out the total capable damage a mesmer can do and make it an even fight based more on player skill.

Hahaha. You have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about. Clone barely do any damage. Honestly their attacks hit for single digit numbers. The only time a clone does damage is when they cause bleeding when they critical. And that only occurs when the Mesmer has that specific trait to allow it. The best thing a clone can do is die, literally, through use of one of the Mesmers 4 shatter skills.

And FYI the Confusion Build and the Shatter Build are two different builds. Confusion is by far the easiest condition in the game to negate. If you’re having problems against a Confusion Build Mesmer then you have a very serious L2P problem and there is nothing anyone can say or do to help you out. A Shatter Build Mesmer in the hands of a skilled player should be a good fight. The Shatter Build is really the only viable PvP Mesmer build at the moment. The only other decent build a Mesmer has is the phantasm build but it was previously nerfed into the ground by Anet. The phantasms don’t do as much damage, they attack less often, are easy to avoid, die too easily, and in order to hit anything with a phantasms attack you basically have to hit your opponent twice. The summoning of the phantasm can be dodged, evaded, line of sighted, etc….. So you have to hit your opponent once with the skill just to summon, then when summoned the phantasm has to hit with it’s attack which can also be dodged, evaded, blocked, etc……….I have no idea how this idea ever made it past Quality Assurance. Anyway, if the Mesmer is running a Phantasm build they don’t shatter, the idea is to keep the phantasm’s alive but they die very easily.

If you think that Mesmer is OP then you should go play one in sPvP and get a clue. They only have 1 viable build and everyone who has even the slightest bit of skill knows how to defeat it.

People need to stop complaining about the new dailies already, they are excellent. You can easily get ALL of them just by playing normally. There are veteran mobs EVERYWHERE, and reviving also counts on players, so just PLAY the game and stop actively hunting the daily and you will eventually get all of the objectives.

Also, it’s called DAILY for a reason, it’s not called “Half-hourly”, what makes you think it should be mandatory to be able to complete it in just 30 minutes? Dailies should take a day of playing to complete. Another thing, you DO NOT need to complete it every single day if you can only play 30 minutes.

This is probably one of the dumbest posts I’ve ever read. I really hate when people say, play the game normally and your daily will be complete. Here is how my version of a daily would go and it wouldn’t involve crafting, gathering, rezzing dead npc’s, or event camping:

-Score 6 Kegs in a Single Round in Keg Brawl
-Kill 10 People in WvWvW without Dying
-Buy 10 Items from the Trading Post and Sell those 10 Items on the trading post for a profit
-Complete the Eternal Battlegrounds or Southsun Cove Jumping Puzzle without the use of a Mesmer Portal
-Solo a Mini Dungeon

Does that sound like a Daily you’d complete normally? Well it is for some of us and the current Daily’s we have to go out of our way to complete. The reason we do it? We want to stay on an even playing field as our peers in PvE and WvWvW. Make sense? I hope so……

Difficulty scaling doesn’t fix the issue I detailed. Like I said, if the difficulty scales depending on the amount of players, then a skilled player will be more efficient playing solo unless all five players are skilled. This would near-kill group content.

The only way to avoid setting the drop rates at -20% per less player would be to have the difficulty remain the same while soloing, meaning it would be hard as hell to solo (this is the current way that people solo – for the challenge of it).

I don’t understand. You’re saying that people wouldn’t want to group if they didn’t have to group in order to get loot they desire? So all of those people complaining about why are solo’ist even playing an MMO if they don’t want to group only care about loot and don’t really care about group content?

Thing is, my answer solves all of the problems. If you want to group then group. If you want to solo then solo. The difficulty should scale to the size of your party whether 1 or 50 and the reward should be the same. It’s all in how people prefer to play. Let them play how they want to play and let them get the loot that they desire. I see absolutely nothing wrong with this. It’s actually pretty simple really.

I would be okay with this as long as it offered decreased awards. -20% drop rates, coin, and tokens for each person under 5. This means 1/5 the awards while soloing. Otherwise, what is the point of forming a group if soloing is more reliable for a skilled player?

Dungeons and Fractals are the last bastion in this game for PvE players looking for a challenge snd teamwork, and even now it is barely that. Honestly if the game lost its only group-required content, I would quit.

The loot should be the same but the difficulty for a group should scale. If you want to party then party. If you want to solo then solo. Some of the most fun PvE experiences I had in this game aside from Jumping Puzzles was completing the mini dungeons solo style. Figuring out the mechanics to get past a certain part is half the fun. Doesn’t happen in a group because someone always knows how already and often times how to glitch out each area. By far the most annoying and frustrating times I’ve had playing this game were in dungeons and fractals with dumb group members.

The main reason I play MMO’s is to play against other players not particularly with them. Also it’s really hard to enjoy a dungeon because if you stop to watch the cut scenes you’ll certainly get yelled at by someone in the group and possibly even kicked from the party. Not my idea of fun. You’re forced to speed demon through it with people who can barely play their class.
