There is no ingenuity in it and when you have used your available skills, you always end up doing autos, because all other skills are either on cooldown or some of them are not worth using
So, basically, after you have used ALL OTHER AVAILABLE SKILLS AND THEY ARE ON COOLDOWN, necros will default to auto attack? Just like every other class in the game? And you are QQing because why, exactly?
You already said you are on ranger now… go back to that forum plz.
Ok, I can’t stop watching this video. There is so much awesomeness going on, it’s hard to understand it all.
Some things I saw:
- Leading with Staff 2 for the chill
- Dropping Staff 2, then sitting there waiting on the thief to come tag you (lmao when he ragequit)
- Dropping wells on people ressing
- Dropping wells on the downed
- Being chased, dropping a well, then turning around and Dagger 3/1 WH 5 while they are standing in the well
- Fearing people directly back into the well you just dropped on them
- Using the walls/corners for dropping marks/wells and watching them run right in (It’s a trap!)
- Dagger 2 on a thief before he invis, and siphoning while he is invis. (meanwhile pointing to his location at the same time, lol)
- and the epic fear SR, then interrupt the heal, then TP to him, root him, and well/stomp… dang man, thats skill.
Obviously you have played spvp quite a bit to understand the mechanics of it all, but to know what the other person is going to do BEFORE THEY DO and to already have the counter ready to go is absolutely amazing.
Don’t you have to be standing in the well to get the conversion?
Loved the video… I think I watched that thief denial about 10x in a row; truly epic. It also makes me super nervous in your videos having your health so low most of the time….
I had a question about your Well of Power usage: I know there is a slight life siphon usage there, but are you using it specifically for the stability? I saw you get rooted when you were almost to SMC, then you dropped WoP and ran into the portal…
Just .02 – two of the best commanders I have ever seen run necro: Indo and Dekar.
I like using it in EOTM for when there isnt a cliff close enough to suicide off of. “You think you can kill me? BAM! I killed myself instead! Ha!”
Devs, please change Plague to Applies 10 stacks of burning and 3 seconds of self stun on use; transfer all allies conditions to yourself; all nearby enemies cast /laugh emote (1500 range); fireworks light off.
So, we seriously have a thread where there is a contest to see who can suicide the fastest?
lm@o epic Necro’s will literally kill themselves if they play the game…
(edited by Thustlewhumber.7416)
Inb4 our OP downstate gets nerfed.
I’ve been wondering what the siphon was, cause it works really “well”. (get it?) I would’ve guessed 900 to be a little low.
Epic skillz. Great editing on the vid. 10/10
(from a wvw perspective) First off, thank you for actually reading the forum. Thank you for realizing the limitations that we (necros) have been given. Thank you for understanding, and most importantly, correcting the downfalls of being a necro BEYOND EXPECTATIONS! I think i said “holy kitten” watching the video more than watching Kim Kardashian’ss home video.
Necros in the GWEN meta are going to be a force to be reckoned with. I like being the polar opposite of the guardian. I like dealing lots of damage to lots of peeps. I like being pushed into the front line but being the “anti front line”. I like that you maintained the selfishness of the necro, but added more group dynamics. I honestly like where the necro is going.
slow clap Good Job.
“ALVIN’S HOT JUICE BOX”
Transform into shadow form, teleport to target, target is stunned, teleport back to original location, target recieves 5 stacks of confusion.
(from a wvw perspective) Knowing a necro is selfish and its strengths are taking down multiple targets quickly, I like these changes. Necro already had the ability to take a hit, and pushing them more towards a “front line” class (like War/Guard) is a welcome addition. I see the role of dealing lots of damage very quickly to a lot of enemies has only been enhanced.
If the gap closer works like the War’s “rush” and doesn’t need a target to function, it will be the evade that everyone has been asking for. The “pull” animation is excellent also… will be nice to pull overzealous rangers off the walls and for everyone to know why it happened.
Not digging the fear changes: if it is coupled with chill, it turns it into a temporary “disabler” and not a permanant “remover”. (For example, fearing the guy on an AC on 3rd floor Garri will not make him fall off anymore. Say goodbye to EotM fear wall also).
It will be interesting to see the synergy necros will have once all the changes go into effect.
Since it’s being nerfed with the expansion (probably cause of my last post about it – thx Anet), I run 6/2/0/6/0 in WvW with parasitic contagion and 66% lifesteal food for max passive heal. I only use my main heal to clear conditions if needed – it’s that effective.
To put into perspective, I can solo an entire camp using only dagger1, warhorn5, and alternating wells and still keep a full health bar. That included every npc in the camp on me at the same time.
First off, this is NOT THE THREAD FOR COMPLAINING. If you want to complain, there are many more threads for you to pour out your qq’s. FAR too much negativity surrounding necro’s in the forum, and yet lots of people still play them. There has to be a reason why… I want this thread to be just about WHY you play necro and WHY you think it is the best class in the game for YOU.
I have played necro for almost 2 years now. I LOVE the multiple target management. I have yet to see a class that can kill multiple targets like they were a single target as fast as a necro. I almost always drag as many targets as I can before I go in for the kill. The more targets, the merrier.
Bags. I have played every other class in WvW, and no other class gets as many bags as a necro. Guardian is a close second, but they are limited to staff 1,1,1,1,1,1… bleh. Practice dropping your staff/wells on a single spot while moving/strafing/etc. That spot will be, by far, the most damaging spot in the game to stand in. All other classes will melt, and you get to reap the benefit of the lewts.
Versatility. No other class is as versatile at the necro. We have SOOOOO many utility skills that can be interchanged quickly. Personally, on whatever build I am using, I am constantly switching between pull, fear wall, power signet, boon strip sniping, poison cloud, spectral run, etc etc.
Weapons. Yeah, we got the staff staple… but that is for long range. You want medium range? Axe/focus can bring a single target down shockingly fast. You want short range? Dagger/warhorn is probably the fastest, most sustained dmg in the game behind 100 blades, except it hits many targets. (again, necros strength is multiple targets, not singles). My main build uses staff and dagger/warhorn, cause it gives me a good mix of long and short range fighting ability, speed, and the lewts.
That’s it for now. What are the reasons that YOU still play necro?
Do you mean wells? I thought it didn’t work with wells which was why there is the master trait that causes wells to also steal health.
WoS/WoC can proc Vampiric and Vampiric Precision 5 times per second each if there are 5 people in the well. Meaning you can get 60 total procs of V/VP from a single 5s well.
Add Vampiric, Vampiric Precision, and Vampiric Rituals all traited with Bloodthirst + Parasitic Contagion + Sigils&Food… you see where I am going here…
I find that going full vampire (6/2/0/6/0) tends to act as an ongoing passive heal, especially in zerg fights.
If you have 2k hours pvp, you should just keep everything the way it is and roam.
necros are horrible in everything
In zerg warfare, a condi necro is worthless. There’s just too much condi removal going on. A zerker necro can pop lich often, so there is that…
But zerker necros are only effective against people that have never dealt with one before. If you’ve run into them before, you know they’re a one-trick pony.
Can a zerker DS necro shoot you down? yes. So leave. They can’t catch you, so you just wait for their DS to run out, and then you come back. Same thing for lich…
Necros are horrible at stacking bleeds, so a zerker has plenty of time to take one out. DPS is a race, if a necro needs 12 seconds to do 1000 damage, and you’re spamming 4-5k heartseekers and dropping all conditions just by stealthing… what a joke…
Necros have tricks, and once someone has learned your tricks it’s over.
A good necro can drop half the zerg in one bomb, and it ain’t a condi necro.
Tried this last night. I teamed with a thief against a thief and mesmer, and it was very fun. Tried it in a guild group/mini zerg and it just didn’t have the ability to do very much damage. We went back and forth with another guild for about 5 minutes with no results. (too much condi clear) As soon as I switched back to my power build, they were instantly downed on the bomb.
With that said, I like the build for smaller scale fighting… I will keep it.
It’s the overly arrogant attitude of rangers in general that warrants the massive disrespect of the entire wvw community. They are my absolute favorite class to kill… gives the same the satisfaction as killing a pesky knat, except their tears are sweeter.
In answer to the OP’s question: double dodge towards, spectral grasp, dagger 3, well dump, DS4 and DS5 to finish them as they try to get away. Make sure to throw the /laugh emote in at the end.
Here’s some video of NA T1 prime time action on a necro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIcltKoxbME
You see one lich go up, two lich, three lich, liches go down, four more lich pop up. The necros were real that night.
Nice video, good positioning. I like how you can strafe left while bombing. I would say to be a bit more aggressive with your bombs when you see them clumped up, but otherwise good job. I liked that steady stream of loot coming in
If you want a lot of bags (and I do mean a LOT) play a necro. Everything you lay down affects 5 people per tick, and all you gotta do it hit them once. The copper-fed salvage-o-matic will be your friend.
Spectral grasp, dark pact, well dump, spam dagger 1, stomp.
Let’s look at the facts. Right before season 1, IRON went back home leaving a gap in our coverage. I loved IRON, those guys were stand up people and a ton of fun to fight along side. I get that, this was a major hit to our community right before S1 kicked off. What happened next, truly was messed up and you can blame wildstar or gaiscioch or whoever you like but that does not change the teamspeak meeting that decided our fate. If we didn’t throw a match to drop out of T1 FEAR was going to leave SOR. If we did throw a match CHOO was going to leave SOR. Lets see. Lose a 500 person guild or lose a 500 person guild. Good choices here and the rest of SOR just had to take whatever fate was delt out. You can dance around it all you like but in the end that doesn’t change the fact that FEAR left because we wouldn’t throw a match, causing us to drop to Tier 2 where CHOO TW and so many others chose to split as well. In the end we lost everything and it sure as hell wasn’t because of Wildstar or a guild that you all asked to stay off the field before thursday.
If you remember, BG and JQ bought MANY MANY guilds before Season 1 (I know for a fact that BG bought at least 15 WvW guilds directly from Dragonbrand causing its implosion). SoR refused to buy guilds, which imho was very admirable, but the lack of PPT meant that we were dropping to T2 no matter what. Ace (FEAR) decided we needed to move to T2 faster, but SoR didn’t cave in and he lost a lot of credibility when he moved. (FEAR also imploded shortly thereafter).
Absolutely everyone I know was talking about the move to Wildstar and were just hanging out until then. EOTM also came out around the same time (probably to try and keep everyone from moving) and everyone on SoR lost interest in real WvW. (Remember the “last” SoR reset meeting and absolutely no one volunteered to do reset? Remember when SoR had an open EOTM channel? Remember JQ and BG pitching a fit because SoR stopped playing WvW?)
If you think T8 is good for SoR, then I believe it’s also in a good place. Most of us (except Ace…) have very fond memories of the whole journey. Most of us feel like everyone contributed an equal amount, but being in T1 requires everyone to be on TS, everyone on a level 80, and everyone to coorperate; that was the magic of SoR, because it worked (mostly) when we all worked together.
Here was the deal: Wildstar happened.
SoR made a real push to be a viable server. Next thing you know, we ended up in T1. While in T1, we encountered blobby blob blobs and siege humping over and over and over. SoR liked to fight rather than defend, and we were getting tired of the T1 PPT fest, so we (all major guilds) started scouting other viable servers so we could get some real fights in before Wildstar launched. We all liked SoS, so we (TW) planned our move there before jumping ship to WildStar. Most of the other major guilds moved to TC or SoS. We (TW) made sure every other single guild that wanted to move to another home had that chance before we moved. (In essence, we turned the lights off before we said good bye).
Those that stayed had various reasons, and we understanded them all. We truly enjoyed our time on SoR, the community, the desire, the ups and the downs. TW is currently back in GW2 (Wildstar was a bust, lol), but these things happen to servers. I was on Kaineng from is humble beginnings to meteoric rise to its equally meteoric fall. I have witnessed many servers rise and fall (most recently Yaks and Maguuma) and many guilds rise and fall, but in the end you have to decide what type of WvW gameplay suits you best. SoR will never be what it once was, but that doesnt mean you cant still enjoy the game.
Anyone try running a straight vampire necro? 6/2/0/6/0 with dagger/focus + staff?
Parasitic bond
Parasitic contagion
Full of life
Bloodthirst
Vampiric
Vampiric precision
Vampiric rituals
Life siphon (dagger 2)
Mark of Blood (staff 2)
Reapers touch (focus 4)
+ superior sigil of blood here and there?
I wonder what the potential passive heal effect would be…
Ascii had a wvw condi-build thread a while back, which I think every necro in the world copied (I think I even tried it), but with the amount of condi cleanse out there it has been rendered useless for a while now.
In wvw, you want to put as much damage down as you can in as short of a time period as you can. Power build is the only way to do this. You should be taking people from full health to down-state in around 10 seconds or less… not 1 minute.
OMFG necro is so op right now. 6/2/0/6/0… thats all i’m sayin… basically god mode, lol.
I have a guardian, thief, mesmer, warrior and a necro. Necro is still, hands down, my favorite class to play. WvW power wellomancer has unreal damage + fantastic survivability + tons of bags / tears.
Wow, that range is kittenedly far. Gameplay = Burst while out of range, invis if they get close, rinse/repeat.
BUT – Rangers have been the laughing stock of GW2 since launch, especially in WvW. I’m glad you guys can finally do something. Enjoy it while it lasts!
I don’t get impressed by gameplay that often but, you sir, are the best necro I have seen.
Only a WvW player will keep reviving this thread every 29 days just to spite ANet.
After reading sparc’s wall of tears, I had to remind myself that his server doesn’t matter in WvW anyway so why did I read it?
I like that TC and SOS are together in OG now. Makes my heart happy
Two of the more famous necro commanders I’ve had the pleasure to be around are Indo and Dekar. I have a war and necro with cmdr tags… I would rather command on my necro 99% of the time. Way easier and way more bags.
So can you suggest something that would be more viable/better? I’m at a loss as to what would be a good WvW zerg/group build for my necro.
For that, let me quote one of our other guildies…
“Necros are easy to play. Is it on cooldown? No? Then hit that kitten!” -Wutever
Now I know why there are so many condi builds out there, lol.
Ascii hasn’t ran with us since we transferred, I think he still might be on SoR. Although I am not at liberty to discuss TW builds, the condi build is too easy to cleanse in zerg fights / gvg that I personally never use it and I don’t think any of our other necros do either.
Still viable? If you liked it before I think you will still like it.
Maybe Its Maybel [LINE]
Last season the gap between T1 and 2 was huge. If T1 really is 50 man hammer blobs and JQ still throwing golems and a full queue at keeps during SEA coverage, I doubt any of the T2 servers are going to be very enthusiastic about trying to PPT against that sort of nonsense. It will just be season 2 of weekday karma trains with more dots.
T1 consists of terrible, blobby guilds siege-humping in their keeps/towers 24/7.
Salty waterfields.
“Rangers QQ’s on me! Blast Blast Blast!”
Best. Thread. Ever.
We even have a guild designation of “Died to Upleveled Ranger” for lower ranked members. So OP.
What I like:
- All servers on one map
- Different power ups depending on which side you are on
- Immediate upgrades to captured points
- 7 different ways to get to any one spot, up or down
- Enhanced use of “fear tactics” to knock people off
- Great areas for open field fighting
- Great areas for small group (I’m sure thieves are loving all the nooks and crannies)
- Super Cannons
- Chests after every major capture
- The list goes on and on… easier to say what needs work.
What I don’t like/Needs work
- Bridge destructions need work. You have to take the time to build a cata, then you have to fire about 10 times and then “wait” on the final hit. 99.9% of the time, everyone can see the bridge’s health and doesn’t take it. If by chance you get lucky, you might be able to get 1 or 2 people dumb enough to be on it after watching you try to take it down for the last few minutes. Its a great concept, just needs a little work to actually make it viable in combat. Maybe make them player destructible instead of having to use siege?
- Open field cannons. Super annoying, super overpowered. I would recommend increasing the recharge time so that having two cannons on you doesn’t turn into an insta-kill for half your people.
- Spawn camping. Holy Jeebus, the bags! I love spawn camping on EotM, but it doesn’t seem fair to the other team who is trying to get out of the choke point and out of the area.
- Choosing an instance. We figured out how to all start in Obsidian Sanctum as a guild and then say “3…2…1… PORT!” in order to try and get the whole guild into an instance. It works about half the time. It would be nice to be able to pick the instance or overflow you want to go to. (Like the old GW1 system of picking which LA overflow you wanted to go to). “Hey, what instance are you in?” “We are in instance 3, come join us!” “OMW!”
The rest of guilds in Sor is/already transferring/ed back to Tier 1. a.k.a TC. They left all the pugs to suffer in WvW. I think TW is the only guild I know left in SoR. they wont last in T3 either. maybe T4,5. After they get into a fit tier. they should starting building back their server. I feel bad for Sor now.
Actually, TW does an impressive job when it comes to fights. They were in SoS BL earlier fighting FA’s AGG guild. A bunch of us from SoS were watching from the fields near Bay and inside SW tower. I was rather amazed to see TW completely wipe the AGG group with little to no deaths on their end, and then doubly so to see them wipe the same group again when that group was almost 1.5 times their numbers the second time.
TW’s good, they won’t have problems fitting in here in T3. Sadly SoR doesn’t have the coverage and will probably drop again, but kitten if we aren’t having fun battling the people still on the server.
That was good fun, glad you enjoyed the show.
I am by no means a spokesperson, but the BG/JQ tactics of buying guilds to hide in towers was/is ridiculous. SoR in general was just tired of it… we wanted out by any means necessary. EOTM was the perfect reason for us to get out. (On our pre-reset meeting for server assignments, there wasn’t a single guild didn’t want to be in EOTM, lol).
I will miss the hours of bag farming in SMC, but not those two servers. Even if you “think” TC might do good at some point, BG and JQ have an endless supply of gold in their server bank to keep paying guild transfer costs (or “embracing new guilds” as they like to call it). In the end, their PPT and status is only a coverage game, and they will buy any guild that will fit into the time zone they need…
…at least the guilds in T2 actually come out and fight.
Um, necros can have 3 sec of stabo every 6 sec with unlimited uses.
(edited by Thustlewhumber.7416)
The ONLY thing that needs to be added is a way to pick which overflow you want to be on. Otherwise perfect in every aspect.
It is, by far, hands down, the absolute best thing to happen to WvW. Love it, love it, love it.
We will miss you bro.
Now that SoR are 100% EOTM only, it’s kinda irrelevant who has left or who is left.
Our PPT was at 0 (yes, zero) the other night, lol. I haven’t seen it get above 100 since EOTM.
Agg/NS is by far my favorite to fight.
SF, ONS, and EE are also much fun. CHOO is a powerhouse, so is DN. FEAR and RET are also solid, and it will be interesting to fight them when SoR hits T2.
