Nah, I’d swing the door the other way.
Every month they publish a list of achievements for Daily PvE / Daily WvW / Daily PvP. Let them be specific, like “Capture a Blue Keep” for WvW. But you get a big list of them anyway, encompassing many possible specific actions.
But you get to do one each day. Pick one from the list when you log in for the first time that day period, and you select one to do. It’s now yours to complete any time until the monthly reset, but you can only pick an achievement out once a day.
There. Choice is restored and widened out even, everyone can get time to do achievements when they can instead of having to beat a clock, and the complaints will continue about how X shouldn’t be an achievement, or how capturing Stonemist is impossible . . .
See, that would solve the vast majority of the problem already, right there.
You would think that . . .
. . . but I have no doubts there’s about three dozen posters about to explain why that system is terrible and I’m in need of an intern to keep me from swallowing my own tongue on accident.
I think the dailies should be HARDER or MORE TIME CONSUMING. You want something for logging in? Fine, here’s your login rewards. You want a daily 10 achievement points? Do something for real.
You don’t pick 3/12. You do this one thing. For example:
Jan 1: Capture an enemy keep in WvW
Jan 2: Complete an Arah exporable path
Jan 3: Win three PvP matches in a row
Jan 4: Complete a level 34 Fractaletc.
Nah, I’d swing the door the other way.

Anyway, as for today, I went to whatever place to do the 4 events. I notice now people won’t even call out events. WHY? Because, if you do, 200 people swarm it and it’s over in 3 seconds. So ya, now you have to PROTECT whatever event you stumble on because it’s INSANE.
This is why we can’t have nice things. And I don’t mean ANet, I mean the players.
See, in most places? There’s enough events to go around for people to split up and just do them and call out only major ones. But there’s this mentality baked into the populace now to swarm, zerg, and overrun events to get them done faster. Which means this starts happening . . .
This is almost as bad as when called camps was a thing in MMOs.
Yeah, this is actually my biggest issues with the changes.
(that and the specific boss fights. I can’t structure my time around a game)
The way it’s set up now makes it that half the server is on the same map, rushing around, leaving very little time to actually be able to do anything.
At the very least, they could’ve made the event dailies a bit less specified to one map section.
The thing is, I know the maps so when I see a specific area, I either know to write it off or if there’s enough smaller events I can just pick up wandering.
And even the bad ones for Events are sort of okay. Southsun Cove is easy to get done . . . if it’s setting up for Karka Queen. Bloodtide isn’t bad since there’s at least three hubs where there’s usually events recycling quickly.
The Gathering ones are better for you to go to the areas adjacent to the starting zone due to the decrease in density of nodes in them post-NPE. Seriously, I can run around Gendarran and get more nodes than I care to actually visit rather quickly. Ditto for Diessa Plateau . . .
I’d prefer if the World Boss one was not specific at all and just “do a world boss”. Hey, look, we fixed most of the problem with having to worry about a specific timer, like Claw of Jormag which recycles something like every 3 hours. Or Frozen Maw, which can be nailed down so fast in peak-time you can use it to time your soft-boiled eggs.
The thing is, people aren’t complaining because they want more
They’re complaining because they’re suddenly getting less
Yeah, they are getting less. Forgive me if I tell you it’s perfectly fine that it is less.
Mystic Coins, Karma, the occasional Black Lion goods, Laurels, all that got pushed off Dailies. Now they’re in the “Login Reward”. Which is literally “log in, get stuff”. I’m okay with this. I’m surprised it took this long to implement, but I’m okay with it.
So now, again, the Dailies are only good for the 10 AP (with a cap, and people who hit the cap get nothing) and the random loot bags which are given with each one. Four days of doing them showed me the loot bags are nice and all, but not really significant.
You’re getting less choice, and getting significantly lower on the reward side of things. So yeah, I’m in the camp which replies “write it off and don’t bother” if they’re offending you. Eventually the message will get through people don’t like the system, and it’ll get Old Yeller’d like it should have had done to it before Laurels were a thing.

This is the problem that all the defenders of these changes have. They act like we are asking for a change that did not exist previously and then act like everyone is asking for free legendaries. We didn’t get free legendaries before so how is asking for things to go back to how they were equal to asking for free legendaries or ascended or anything else.
Many of the changes have slowly reduced choices since launch. All that many people are asking for is to once again have the choices that were taken away. We understand that arenanet want to herd us into certain areas for their metrics but all its going to do is chase players away.
Yeah, that’s not what my problem is. My problem is . . . and try to follow . . . this is exactly how the first overhaul started to Dailies way back in the olden times, before Lost Shores was ever a bad memory.
If we’re going to keep coming right back to this “we want more” thing over and over, I think Dailies now need to be re-examined for whether or not they’re doing anything positive. As it stands now, literally the only thing the Dailies are good for are a few boxes of loot and AP.
. . . both of which could just be cut out and tossed aside with a little more effort, since Login Reward has put the place to get Laurels and Coins.
Anyway, I’d try to put more effort into discussing this matter . . .
They’re the typical responses that keep popping up.
-No one’s forcing you to play
-You don’t have to do them
-You people want everything for freeComplete non-arguments, but apparently they can’t come up with better.
. . . but why bother?
Ehhh . . . I’m not seeing less choice.
I’m seeing the same meaninglessness of a lot of choices I could be making as before. There’s not a compelling reason to really go do things other than “I think I want to do that today”. Sure there’s the daily achievements but . . . even back in the system before last week I didn’t feel compelled to do any of it.
A lot of it might be because I’m a veteran player and don’t really need a lot of what it gets me. AP? Please, I’ve still got a lot of Agent of Entropy to work on, not to mention pages of Season 2 entries! Loot? World Boss Grand Tour, full stop. Materials? See last, add salvage kits. Karma? For what? Laurels? I don’t plan on setting foot in Fractals more than casually, and I was working slowly on my Ascended armor anyway so why need more Infusion slots I won’t use?
. . . guh, seriously, I still play this game and I still enjoy it because I can fool around and do stuff without really worrying about losing anything over not doing it perfectly or having to meet friends for “Raid Night” or else I wind up losing out on progression. There’s no pressure for me to get things done at anything other than my own pace.
And I still have the choice of what to do, including whether or not to go World Boss Touring or to just hop in WvW and see what I can do for a couple hours.
I believe its like this:
We feed Grawnk to obtain ornaments.
But he accidentally die (or he ended in coma, you can´t die by eating Bloodstone dust dishes, i tried).
So we collect all ornaments, send them to childrens. As thanks they send back Christmas tree decorated with ornaments.
Therefore you still have all ornaments.
And a certain chef continues to try cooking with Bloodstone Dust, while I pine for seeing the Tyrian equivalent of Chef Ramsay show up to clear up the issue.
Of course, there is one man who can cook with it, and make it not only delicious but nutritious . . . A.B.
They’re meaning skins and items as content, such as dungeon armors, Ascended gear, Mawdrey . . .
That other game is also imitating other games too, so I hear, and has been for a while.
Ohh absolutely they do. Every expansion you can find items borrowed from other games. Some improved on some fairly xerox copied. Like the Garrison follower missions. Fairly closely taken from Star Wars. Send them on missions to get things then they arrive back with goodies. Then they expanded on it. They see things trending out there in other games that are fun and incorporate it. From GW2 I think they grabbed the multiple can harvest the same resources. Hey that’s a good aspect that I can now play over there. Anet seems to be doing the same but they seem to be copying all the things people don’t like and complain about.
Another game also had the “follower” type thing too, I kind of liked the concept. They also had instanced resource nodes too, and down-scaling to events (though, alas, not automatically).
Anyway, where was I? Oh, right . . .
Saying I mostly am okay with where the game is right now. (Not “I love it” or “I like it” even, just “I’m okay with this”.) Especially versus where it began . . .
Grind? You mean the infinite achievements?
these are a total nightmare imo ..
to get max AP for Snowball Mayhem Participant, you only have to play it a 150 times
thats just.. no
And for funsies, count up how many things need to salvage to max for that: Salvage Master (500) + Agent of Entropy 125 times (125 × 200) = 25500 salvages.
Then there’s Yakslapper
Swamp is actually one of my favorite fractals when done with people that know that they can jump onto and over the trees. Cliffside also depends on whether people know what to do at that section with the two seals.
Swamp, my performance is mostly in the hands of everyone else – I can just Stability and rush the one with all the tripwire/beartraps back easily. That’s not really the issue so much as the far ones.
Cliffside, that two seal one is why I don’t like it . . . it’s a bit tricky and real easy to screw up. Also, people seem to like cheesing the final encounter so hard Kraft is suing.
Am I misreading something? Because to me it looks like the achievements are exactly the same as they were last year.
They can’t be the same, because people never complained last year about this . . .
. . . I’m sure there were no complaints about it. Ever. Not even one.
You can enjoy 99% of the game without grind and none of the content is locked behind grind.
Well, some of it is, if you want to count high-level Fractals. And if you’re loose enough with a definition of “grind” then the Hearts are all grind
Exactly what additional content do you get from high level fractals than lower level fractals? Do the maps changes? Are there different enemies and bosses?
I said if you want to count it. Some people do, since the loot changes over at 10+, so I understand. Allowing you to start earning those Ascended rings and Pristine relics easier.
Bear in mind, I don’t often do Fractals because they tend to frustrate me a bit . . . especially two of them: Swamp and Cliffside. And when they first came out, I wound up doing them rather a lot so I grew to really not like doing Fractals. I’ll do it if the guild has an open spot and asks for someone to hop in . . . but I’m not going out of the way for it.
Not even if it guaranteed a Precursor.
You can enjoy 99% of the game without grind and none of the content is locked behind grind.

+1 to the OP.
Now here’s hoping ANet is good enough to sack up, and finally say “we were wrong” and bring back the game we (or at least I and older players) PAYED FOR.. . . I don’t want that game back.
No, seriously, I do not want that game back. It was terrible in all kinds of places and broken in others.
That however is the game that was different unique and fun. Now that the game is is trying to imitate other games it’s failing hard. Over 10mil paying monthly subscribers. Over 3mil expansion sales in the first 24 hours after launch and that’s not counting preorders………. Their expansion numbers blow GW2s release numbers that they like to brag about all the time out of the water. Sorry but their doing it right. Players vote with their credit cards and the votes are in. After lost shore with 100+ people in guild on each night went down to under 10. You may have not liked that game the vast majority did. Enjoy being a special flower in an empty game that will go the way of Vanguard.
That other game is also imitating other games too, so I hear, and has been for a while. Also, the “votes” about the other game . . . I talk with people. They keep playing because all their friends are still playing it, and they’ve put enough money into it to feel bad about just dropping it. (Sort of why it took me so long to quit EQ, along with shiny GM Event loot I had…)
As for why I don’t want that game back? Rangers seen as terrible loads, everyone clustering into a pair of events in a zone of your choosing, no Wardrobe, no Wallet, ran like crap on my computer, and there wasn’t much reason to do anything other than a handful of the World Bosses ever.
Sure, it’d get rid of the troublesome Ascended tier stuff, the repeated tinkering with Daily/Monthly, and most of the things I have hanging out in my Home Instance . . . but speaking from having been here on release? I don’t really want the game just rolled back to that point and then locked there.
If we’re going to talk game design and optional things to do, do I get to whip out my copy of Catan? Or Lords of Waterdeep? And we can start seeing how “optional” and “necessary” are often a matter of what someone needs in the moment rather than a flat an unmoving thing?
Why do you want laurels then? I don’t understand people who want virtual rewards, that only exist in a game they have no other interest in playing.
I’ll answer.
Laurels are the key to working on Ascended crafting (Inscriptions) or getting some accessories. They are the easiest way of getting enough items with Infusion slots to hit a good spot on Agony Resistance.
Also, they can apparently make you good cash if you go for crafting bags.
sounds more like pure luck that you didnt have to travel half the map
Well, yesterday’s dailies the only hangup was Claw of Jormag – I had to wait for it to come up. Other than that? Easy. Actually, I dropped into WvW and snagged the Veteran Warg and Ruins Capture to finish off my daily while waiting on Claw to come up.
. . . So, yeah, I’m actually getting them done faster.
I get them done faster too and get 10 achievement points instead of five. I’m honestly not completely sure what the problem is.
the problem is that all you egomaniacs only think about yourself and others with 5 80s and 100% map completion sigh and then you wonder why this game is dying because of lack of new players?!
Egomaniacs, lovely. So I just have to ask before I proceed . . . if I comment that these aren’t fiction of me doing these faster repeatedly and often, after someone (who I won’t name) called people who said they were getting it done faster than them “liars” among other things . . . it’s because I need to stroke my ego. Am I interpreting this right?
Now, shall you back away from the defensive posture of someone basically lashing out at anyone who disagrees, and take a look?
I’ve said it a few times now in a couple things – I think the daily system was fine back when it released and the biggest problem I have with it is how much time is going into revamping it time and time again. Instead of kicking it out of the airplane door over the Mojave Desert and doing something different.
I think it’s utterly unnecessary to do the Dailies . . . or did up until Laurels. And even then, I still hold the opinion Ascended Armor/Gear is really a waste of time and resources unless you plan on doing high-level Fractals where Agony is involved. And so, Laurels for Ascended stuff was in my bin of “safely ignore this and do whatever you feel happy doing”.
However, a lot of people really like the idea of walking around in Best-in-Slot, even if it’s about as useful as that Sheriff Star in a Wild ARMs game . . . or the prizes for beating Emerald/Ruby Weapons in FF7. They’re really cool, overpowered in a way, but by the time you can get them . . . they’re entirely unimportant.
Dailies need to be looked at over again, maybe have some more options? Or just drop a hammer on the whole Daily Achievement system altogether? It’s no longer serving the purpose it was a year ago with throttling Laurel acquisition, or anything else – it’s strictly about AP now, and that can be done some other way than this framework which is apparently killing the game.
Glad to hear you got it, I was just noticing this and was thinking of trying to get you some help.
. . . now salvage those trinkets and laugh at the distressed tears of orphans!
. . . yeah, it hasn’t been triggered by the new system. Which stinks because it means I won’t have time to finish December.
Oh well. Not really sweating it, just irritated.

Hopefully it will be in stock when I get money after holidays are over.
. . . I think I found the next addition to my dragons shelf, next to my D&D Mini Huge Red Dragon and the two Ral Partha pewter “minis” i have . . .
As a person that would grind AP points daily, the new system is soooo much better. It’s so much faster and the rewards look promising. It’s odd that everyone is mentioning a lack of freedom, though in my case (the minority i would imagine) its given me so much more freedom.
Perhaps adding 1 more choice to each category would allow a bit more freedom to some. Although to be honest … all the dailies so far are ridiculously easy and can be done in like 20min.
Now can we get a remade celestial amulet and an expansion? #offtopic
I had mine done in twenty-five minutes the first day. Vista at where I parked a charr newbie in Plains of Ashford, port to Applebrook Hamlet WP in Gendarran and chop trees, do events in Silverwastes – running yak from Resolve to Red Rock and doing defenses, plus retrieving rubble. Done. That’s three.
. . . really, it’s about knowing where you can likely find things.
And it would take me longer to do five sometimes unless I was lucky enough to log in during peak time WvW to go rush things.
Is this like that “Thank you letter” from a refugee child we got back in Frost and Flame?
It’s completely unreasonable that those who choose one style of play (ie WvW) have to rely on drops while another (ie Crafting) can guarantee getting what you want.
Wait, WvW doesn’t get drops which can be used for crafting? I mean, I know PvP doesn’t (and don’t necessarily need it with their gear set already) . . .
Old dailies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8wrtk_4rLQ&t=0m50s
New dailies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjqtwNUE148
You know, I like your points even if I’m not entirely sold on agreeing . . .
. . . but things like this kinda weaken your case and make it less likely you can be taken seriously by the people you want to convince.
I liked Daily Dodger – I practiced my dodging windows on them, much like I would sometimes just try out dodging on Monster Hunter to get the feel for a monster’s attack windows. I like to think it gave valuable practice . . .
. . . I mean, I went from soaking wurm rocks to almost always dodging them easily.
I don’t think making things easier to attain is a path we really want to keep going down. I mean, sure, it’d make people happy to be basically shoveled free stuff . . . but would it really fix the problem in the first place?
Oh, I wouldn’t want things to be overall easier. Rather I’d move the AP to somewhere where the AP-grinding weird people can still get it with as little effort as humanly possible, and then we can make more of the actual dailies.
Again, I don’t think this is a good idea because . . . “Press Start Achievements” are really a lack of understanding of what they could be, and what people expect these days. What they should be is a lot like . . . oh . . . “Flight of the Valkyries” from the newer X-Com (beat a mission with an all female squad). I mean there’s a big gulf between the achievements which are basically “Finish Chapter 5” and “Owned all 700 Pokemon in the same game cartridge”.
(Yes, I’ve almost got the latter one done.)
Free AP just feels “wrong” for a system called “Achievements”. I say if we’re going to divorce them from the daily system? Then don’t make them daily at all, don’t time-limit them, and cut that out completely in favor of more general achievements added over time.
. . . or adding new achievements to older content.
So, last year there was “Tixx’s Gift”, and presumably he’s giving it out this year in Divinty’s Reach.
But I can’t seem to locate him . . .
The story is much better than it was in Guild Wars
You, sir, have no idea what you are talking about.
Well, sorry, but . . .
I think this was done about on par with the Prophecies storyline, though Prophecies was better in some spots, and GW2 better in others. I think it’s better than Factions by a nice measure, but not as nice as most of Nightfall.
. . . it’s nowhere near as interesting or engaging as Beyond though. War in Kryta, Hearts of the North, and Winds of Change all were incredible to me. Good work with the characters, it felt like our characters did something important, and the challenge was at that sweet spot of “not easily facerolled” versus “makes me want to punch puppies”.
We all know where this thread is going. Just give us all the legendaries we want for free please.
Honestly this might be the key to resolving the whole issue.
I don’t mean giving everyone a free legendary, but the reasoning behind it.So, one of two things could happen:
- Add AP to log-in rewards.
- Remove daily AP entirely and change the AP values required for the chests to be attainable from fixed rewards only.
I don’t think making things easier to attain is a path we really want to keep going down. I mean, sure, it’d make people happy to be basically shoveled free stuff . . . but would it really fix the problem in the first place?
Really what needs to happen is for a long hard look at what the whole of the game is like right now, as opposed to simply looking at specific systems separated from the game. Because this year we’ve seen major attempts to overhaul parts of the game, but on a whole these parts don’t quite match up with the whole.
Traits, which held an interesting idea, wound up not fitting anymore due to how it drags new characters through the unlock process rather than new players. A rather major issue for veterans, who just don’t want to go through all the hoops now in place . . . and newer players have a lot of work to pick up traits which were free a year ago.
NPE, which smoothed out some of the opening levels and tried to make it more accessible . . . wound up making a bunch of veterans again ticked off over how it throttles certain parts of the game. Overall, it’s not terrible, but it shook up a lot of things and changed how the early game plays out.
Megaservers, a system intended to . . . and actually providing . . . better zone population in areas which don’t see much activity or at way off-peak times. At the cost of pretty much blending out local server populations (or the sense of them) concerning WvW and other things.
And now this, the . . . third? . . . reorganization and revision of the Daily/Monthly system. A system which was adequate before it was tinkered with two months after release . . . now is pretty much reduced to nothing much at all. Now I wouldn’t have a problem with this except of the backlash which has started. Again. I’m probably not the only one who thinks it would have been more painless to simply abolish the whole system when Laurels were conceived and find another way. (Note, it’s only after Laurels got introduced there was a minor point in how it was important to partake in going for the Dailies.)
What we’ve seen changed this year is not meshing well and is not really meeting the rest of the game all that well. And the CDIs were talking about raids and GvG? At this point, those things should go back-burner more than they already were and focus spent on trying to take a good long look at the whole game again with fresh eyes.
i completely agree, play your way is out of the picture, which makes it falsely advertised.
. . . I don’t think that means what you think it means.
Are we using up more of our coin way pointing around more than we used too ?
Are rewards are better. Remember, we’re getting stuff just for logging in. If you never waypoint and never do a single daily, the only thing that really suffers is your achievement points.
A couple of waypoints for achievement points is not all that much, but you know, for stuff like the vistas and gathering, if you don’t want to spend the coin, you can go through the mists lobby, and into LA and then through the portal to any area you want. You’d not spend a cent on waypointing and you’d still be able to do two of the dailies, at least so far.
You’d trade a few silver for a few loadscreens.
Not really a couple if you focus just on the PvE side then you could be WPing quite a bit to catch events and sometimes you don’t catch them in time, forcing the player to move, haven’t done the math but it could mount up on a daily basis, to be quite astronomical, but then WPs costing coin has always been a silly idea to me.
I’ve . . . rarely found myself having a problem with WP costs, when I choose to sell everything Green and under (there’s a lot of that) rather than salvaging it. It does add up quickly . . . more quickly than the costs of jetting around even if you don’t use the Lion’s Arch shortcuts.
I think the most any waypoint trip can get to is 5 silver? And that’s being generous since I only recall 3s 94c for the longest one I had to take. Four nice Greens will net you that.
+1 to the OP.
Now here’s hoping ANet is good enough to sack up, and finally say “we were wrong” and bring back the game we (or at least I and older players) PAYED FOR.
. . . I don’t want that game back.
No, seriously, I do not want that game back. It was terrible in all kinds of places and broken in others.
All they have to do is remove the account bound restriction on crafted ascended. Now everybody’s playstyle can get them the gear because everybody’s playstyle will earn them gold.
Do . . . do we really need another Best in Slot item largely agreed to be available through direct gold purchase only? I mean, we already have Legendary weapons and we know how that turned out.
I think craftable Ascended is fine . . . especially right now since there seems to be half a ton of cloth material coming out of my Wintersday Gifts. (Not as much Silk, but that’s what salvaging is for.)
If there’s a tweak needed to the crafting of Ascended? It lies in easing off that Silk problematic spot.
ascended trinkets are absolutely kittenedly absurd to obtain so yes jeweling needs to happen
Laurels arent hard to get, and you only need to spend 25 for an amulet. Quit being lazy. You only need 10 pristine fractal relics for rings, and most players are lucky enough to drop at least 1 by then. Quit being lazy. Accessories you can get by running guild missions, which takes at most 3 weeks and 1 day. Quit. Being. Lazy. It takes ONE MONTH. To accumulate ascended trinkets. That aint absurd.
And how about if you have 8 lvl 80s? 10 80s? 13 80s? 15 80s? 20 80s? Your assumptions and conclusions are both silly. Telling people to ‘quit being lazy’ when you’re ignorant of what their constraints/intentions are is pretty silly as well. Also note that laurels are spent for things other than just jewelry, ie. Ascended crafting.
Eh, it is silly.
Also as silly as being able to make Doric’s Signet Ring or a Mursaat Token (Still think those should be more earned/found than just bought off a curio shop . . . )
I’ve been playing since a few months after release and had a single ascended trinket drop for me in WvW. The drop rate is too pathetic to be reliable because such a rare RNG can mean that you could die from old age and never so much as get an ascended armor piece drop.
I can guarantee you that by the time this game comes to an end, there will be those who will never got an ascended armor and/or weapon drop (rewarded probably but not as a drop). So I would say that since such a thing is possible, it fails to satisfy Falaha’s statement and fails to satisfy ANet’s ‘core philosophy’.
. . . ANet’s core philosophy was that everything should drop equally?
Hey, you know, I could do without the charr in Guild Wars 2. They’re kind of in the way or rebuilding Ascalon. Can you do something about that?
If you don’t do Fractals, Ascended is kind of a non-issue as far as “needing it”.
I mean, wanting it and needing it are two separate matters. I want me a jetpack skin but I didn’t get it in the few times I had a chance.
“Top equipment” would be ascended gear which can only be obtained by crafting it for yourself. So, no, it never had the ability to get the top equipment by playing how you want.
Or doing world events.
Or doing Fractals.
Or doing WvW.So basically doing most things in the game (except PvP, where it doesn’t even matter).
EDIT: Oh, apparently you can actually ALSO get them from PvP. So apparently you can get them for doing a grand total of everything in the game.
How do world events get you ascended armor and weapons?
I don’t do fractals. I knew they were good for ascended trinkets but are they good for getting weapons and armor?
I do mostly WvW and you can only get trinkets not weapons and armor so that’s wrong.I’ve gotten a few ascended drops from world bosses. I’ve heard of people getting ascended drops in wvw too but I don’t play a ton of it myself.
I got my Wupwup Greatbow from WvW and know a guildmate in my group who looted an armor chest at Tequatl (I think it was Beigarth?) . . .
It hasn’t been removed?
. . . Cantha confirmed
Xunlai was not something that was Cantha exclusive or came with Factions. They are an NPC guild that ran the tournament and bank services of Guild Wars 1 since the beginning and still continue to provide the games current banking system.
Oh hush you and your common sense, the meme must go on!
It may be due to the redesign of the Daily system right after it launched? (In other words “would have worked if we hadn’t changed Dailies”?)
Well if you did the Graunk “quest”, you’d be very wary of wanting cooking 500, with bloodstone/empyreal/etc.
But yeah, jewelry needs to be upped too. We still have 2 (maybe 3?) unused ascended material (crystalline ingots/ores), which most likely go with jewelry, if we ever get that…
Yeah we still got this.

Which made me think they had something in mind that never got off the ground for whatever reason.

2012-2014 Play your way. 2015 play our way or the highway.
Anet: Hey guys, we moved all the rewards to just logging in so you can show up and play as much or as little of whatever you want and still get your laurels as well as a bunch of new rewards too. And if you are up for it, try some of these dailies too, and you’ll get over three times more ap for the first three you so, as well as cool new bonuses on top of them!
Whiners: Omfg I thought you said I could play like I want!
Anet: ???
I don’t know how many people realized the bulk of the rewards migrated to the new Login Rewards system . . .
I do note the complaints seem to be for the Daily Achievements so maybe the rewards aren’t part of their problem?
At first, I was surprised there were so many people that actually preferred the new dailies. The rewards I get: the new rewards system is more enticing for many people. No one is complaining about that. But the actual mechanics of the new dailies? People really prefer having obnoxiously specific tasks?
Prefer is a strong word. I’ll take “pleasantly ignorable”, personally. As in, if I don’t want to do them, I don’t have to.
…but then I noticed that a significant portion of the posts in the thread in support of the new changes are largely the same people posting over and over again telling everyone that they’re playing the game wrong.
. . . and more than a few people posting how they don’t like it have come back to keep up discussion on the topic as well.
Also, I just logged into my lower level characters today, and did not receive the login reward on any of them. It was only after I logged into my 80 that the chest showed up. Is that a bug? Or does the login reward only appear for level 80 characters?
If it’s the latter, that’s yet another unfortunate aspect to the new daily system.
Huh. I’ll try it in a few hours when it resets.
There are no culinary applications suitable for Bloodstone Dust.
None.
If Cooking goes beyond 400 I would expect it to be a matter of combining ingredients in different ways for much more exotic-seeming meals.
. . . either that or someone learns how to start cooking Mordrem corpses.
I’m wondering how many people have a malfunctioning sarcasm detector.
At the least I’d say the krewe needs to get back to work developing the Mark II.
