Fort Aspenwood Elementalist
(edited by Tom.8029)
Hello. I like the idea for this guild. I love my Elementalist so much and would never trade it for another class, even if we had it rougher than now. I roam in WvW and PvP a lot and take price in being successful. I currently am in 5 guilds, but send me a mail, I’ll try and ditch one of them.
Mail me at my account name, Tom.8029. I look forward to hearing from you.
(edited by Tom.8029)
I would put this in the suggestion area. However, it has been moved to archive. So I wasn’t sure if that meant it was no longer looked at. Anyway, my idea was to offer some option to indicate the order of precedence you would like conditions placed on you to be removed by your cleanses. Not all of them, just maybe like the first one or first few.
For example, you may like certain conditions to be removed on you first depending on what build you’re currently using. A high mobility build might want Immobilization, cripple, torment, or chill off them first. A damage build user might want weakness off them first. A person with a build that requires several quick actions may want confusion off them first.
This may be overpowered, but one thing I thought would be really cool for Meteor Shower is if each meteor was a blast finisher. I mean, it makes sense and the meteor shower field is bigger than most fields anyway, so not all of them would hit.
But could you imagine meteor shower over a water field or fire field? It would be epic!
I like the proposal for Churning Earth. I like that it’s difficult to land, but the concept of it ticking damage to enemies inside the field with smaller damage more times rather than one high damage hit is interesting. Visualize the Elite Earth skill from Guild Wars 1, Unsteady Ground. Something like that.
I should note, on my current build, I have very good health regeneration, toughness isn’t bad, health isn’t too low, lots of vigor for dodging, plenty of condition removal, and tons of boons. So the potential of high survivability is there.
What my build does lack is high critical damage/percent chance, and power. So I simply need to have 15+ stacks of might and rely solely on attack as opposed to conditions to do any noteworthy damage.
With most fights, I’m slowly wearing the enemy down and out healing their damage.
So what I’m saying is, Elementalists have no issues with surviving. Maybe condition damage could be toned down a little. But that’s not the main issue.
Basically Elementalists have 3 options: go defensively and kill nothing, go offensively and get killed by everything (Unless maybe you get the first strike or something), or go for a mixture and have no chance to survive against fully damage or be able to kill a fully defensive character.
But this profession has been changed so much that I’m not really sure what I want anymore. Surprise me. Lol.
(edited by Tom.8029)
Personally, I think Elementalists are fine on their survivability. I think our defensive set-backs, in terms of health and armor should remain as is. I mean, on the Guild Wars 2 profession definition page it defines Elementalists as, “What they lack in physical toughness they make up for in dealing high damage in a single attack.” I think what should be changed is the offensive capabilities of the Elementalist.
I’m not sure if I would stop traiting for defense even if Elementalists had greater survivability. I just naturally spec to be more defensive. But when I do go defensive, it’s tough to deal any significant damage.

Elemental Attunement wasn’t a near grandmaster trait until recently, and it could be just as easily moved back to where it was.
I find the only thing I use Flame Wall for is to blast for might.
Not to mention we need to use two skills to get that skill off effectively during a fight.
These are just a few things I’ve noticed: Sometimes when I use Lightning Flash, my character will freeze in position and be unable to move. The same goes for Ride the Lightning, although is doesn’t happen as frequently and when I come out of Ride the Lightning, my back piece disappears and I need to either wait a few minutes or unequip and then reequip to see it again on my character.
You NEED to be good at dodging to play the Elementalist effectively, since most of the time we have such low health and armor. I would recommend making yourself more tanky (Toughness and Vitality) until you get a good hold on the profession. As you get better, you can shift slowly (wean yourself off) and move towards more damage.
This may be a bit selfish and unreasonable, but I’ve had this idea lately that they should allow the Elementalist to have more trait points than the other classes(professions). Maybe like 5 or 10 more. I always feel like my build is incomplete in some way. For example I have this really good vulnerability build and it literally needs 5 more trait points to be perfect. I feel like a lot of the builds for the Elementalist are like this. For most builds, you would need around 5 or 10 trait points to get that last buff in the trait line that would just be the icing on the cake. I figured I’d just throw this out there. haha.
But I’m not sure if I think it would even the playing field or if I’m just being biased towards the Elementalist.
I think they should make it a water field so we can blast it for heals.
I’ve played the Elementalist since I picked up the game in October of the year of it’s release. I think I understand it.
Hey guys.
I actually tried tournaments for the first time a few days ago with my guild mates.
I don’t know if that’s tpvp or not. But our group had 2 Elementalists, myself and one of my guild members. The rest of my group did not carry us. In fact, I’d say we were top players. We won 6 of 9 games against some good, great, and terrible opponents.
My argument on the Elementalist is never that it isn’t good. The Elementalist is extremely tough. My argument is that people who play the Elementalist need to work much harder than people who play other classes to get roughly the same or better output.
Here’s my Elementalist. Arcane Majesty
(edited by Tom.8029)
By the way, I’ve been using the above build for PvP, PvE, and WvW. I like well-rounded builds like that.
My point was that I suppose the Elementalist does have versatility in that it’s the jack of all trades. But it’s hardly the best at anything useful. It’s simply good at everything. But every class can do something better than the ele.
I found a setup that works nicely. My traits are as follows:
Fire-20-10=Spell Slinger 20=Internal Fire
Air-10- 10=Zephyr’s Boon
Earth-10= Stone Splinters
Water-30- 10=Cantrip Mastery 20= Soothing Disruption 30=Cleansing Water
Arcana-0
For Armor I have a PVT with full PVT accessories and such. Power is the primary and Vitality and Toughness are the secondary attributes.
For the Heal skill I have Glyph of Elemental Harmony.
Utilities can be any cantrip.
Elite is Fiery Greatsword.
I feel this build works well, but I run into serious issues when I’m fighting a condition heavy enemy, an enemy that regenerates too fast, deals too much damage, or stealths frequently. If conditions are an issue, you can swap out the heal for Ether Renewal. But that elite doesn’t heal for very much.
The build works well, I can bring someone to nearly half-health or downed with the fire bursts. If they run, I use Ride the Lightning, Lighting Flash, and my greatsword to catch them. I guess I should have mentioned using dual daggers. The build also has pretty good mobility and survivability, as well as speed.
But I feel that I need to work too hard to have an output similar to what another class can accomplish easily. Try out the build and let me know how it works for you.
(edited by Tom.8029)
And they spend all their time making cool new greatswords anyways, which is kind of a kick in the gonads to classes that can’t wield them.
I figured I’d add this. I heard some other people that play elementalists talking about this. The trait Elemental Attunement should only make boons on attunement swap apply to nearby allies. Elementalists should have the buff as a standard on attunement swap without needing to trait for it. Much like the Guardian always has access to its virtues.
So without needing to trait,
Earth → Protection
Water → Regeneration
Air → Swiftness
Fire → might
Elemental Attunement should take this base and grant these boons to nearby allies upon attunement swap. Also, for switching to fire, you should make it more than a single stack of might. I think two would be fine simply because all the other boons stack in duration and might does not.
I feel like the elementalist class is strongly lacking. Nearly every class can do something better than the elementalist, so then why play one? The class to me seems like it simply isn’t viable anymore. The only thing the elementalist has that other classes don’t is bending the elements at their will (Obviously) and cool animations.
On the professions definition page you (Anet/NCsoft) have this, “What they lack in physical toughness, they make up in versatility and the ability to inflict massive damage in a single attack.” Where is this? Our class keeps getting nerfed into the ground. I love the class so much and that is why I continue to play it and I keep trying to find a setup that can hold its own against other classes; which is extremely tedious.
Also, can you please change Diamond Skin? It doesn’t work. 90% is too high. How about like 80 or 75% health?
My issue with this is it seems to me that they can have good damage, while having good defense, health regeneration, and speed.
lol
“Warriors are masters of weaponry who rely on speed, strength, toughness, and heavy armor to survive in battle.”
This is the kind of response that is completely idiotic. At no point did I say a warrior isn’t supposed to have these things. What I meant was, based on the warriors I’ve fought, it seems like they can be very good at every aspect of their class at once.
As an elementalist, I can use all four elements whenever I choose. But at no point can I be completely proficient in everything simultaneously. I simply feel that the sacrifices a warrior has to make to be good in certain areas are imbalanced compared to other classes. And yes. I know there are other classes too that could use more balancing. Why don’t you try critically reading something and then actually offering some feedback other than a simple, “Lol.”
(edited by Tom.8029)
I love how a state of emotion (grief) has become a verb. You people are just silly. Silly I say!
I don’t know about you, but I think warriors are completely ridiculous. I run a D/D or S/D Elementalist with about 3000 attack, 3000 armor, and 23k health. Whenever I try to fight a warrior, they either deal insane amounts of damage to me while shruging off nearly all of my attacks or they run away to the point of no return.
My issue with this is it seems to me that they can have good damage, while having good defense, health regeneration, and speed.
So this is what happens with a warrior in most cases when I meet one: they attack you and deal intense damage, your attacks do nothing. If you somehow manage to get one low on health, they run away until they’re fully healed and then fight you again. This time they manage to get you low on health, you try to escape and there is absolutely no hope unless you have stealth and/or infinite cc. It’s extremely unfair in my opinion. I mean, why do they get to have all these nice things simultaneously? Why can’t I have nice things! (Lol. Quote from Fairly Odd Parents)
I’ve never played a Warrior, so I’m not that knowledgeable about the class. However, I’m not that bad of an Elementalist.

Enjoyed slaying yaks on FABL today. FA you need to up your game, even with the guards and defenders I still managed to destroy your yaks.
How dare you hurt my poor yakies. But you didn’t get all of them. We made sure of that. :P I was mostly in Northern FA BL, if that’s where you were.
my neck…. yes, that’s it
She must have needed a break.
Have you never heard of Kit Kat bars?
If my voice was high pitched, she must have sat on something very tender.
I’ll forgive her
She sat on your neck? I do apologize for that.
It ain’t over ’til the fat lady sings. If you happen to be a fat lady, please refrain from singing.
Your mom is singing very loudly.
It’s over.
My mother is actually quite skinny. I think it may just have been you with your high-pitched voice. It’s okay. Don’t be ashamed.
It ain’t over ’til the fat lady sings. If you happen to be a fat lady, please refrain from singing.

I’d like to coin “Fort Purchasewood,” in case it ever becomes relevant.
It may not fit into your puns. But I still think Fort kittenpenwood has a nice ring to it.
Well, this didn’t work out the way I had hoped…. Lol. kitten you censorship. Refer below for the name, please.
So FA… that’s a whole lot of new tags you’re sporting. Looks like our precious brother bandwagon eating server became the bandwagon finally. This is… depressing.
Sure. We got some new blood for the Leagues. Most servers did. We also had some guilds that left come back and guilds that didn’t normally WvW much now do. So that’s also what you’re seeing.
Seriously TC and FA? Reset night and already working together to face SoS? lol
I don’t know about you, but I can’t recall a time when TC and FA ever formed an alliance. We simply enjoy kicking the Kitten out of each other. So, take this opportunity to use that valuable time when we’re fighting each other…. And stop complaining.
So you’re making that assessment based on the fact I’m from FA? Ignorance at it’s finest.
Except it’s not, because as a FA person you preach about people being ignorant and hypocritical, however it’s the vast majority of your people who are the ones being hypocritical and ignorant. So yes, I’m allowed to make a statement based solely off the fact of what server you’re on and what you said. Don’t you love logic?
Excuse me. No. Just no. You can’t make that assessment based on what server a person is from. Not only does every server have people like this, but also NOT everyone on that particular server is like this. Making this assumption, even if it may be one of heuristics based on your opinion, will simply be branded by most as an act of laziness and/or ignorance because generalizing everyone is simply unfair and an easy thing to do.
Even if everyone on a server acted this way, what would stop them from transferring to another server without your knowledge? Does everyone on the new server automatically be branded like this as well? Suddenly, your logic has failed.
Think more heavily and critically about what you type and how if may affect the people reading it before you type it in the future. I feel like if most people had good and smart intentions, they would have nothing to say.

WvW is fought by 3 servers at a time for a reason. There’s a 3rd server to shift the balance of power in a normal 1v1. WvW is interesting because it can be played many ways. It can be a free for all or it can be a team effort. I don’t see any issues with a 2v1. Having an alliance with another server actually requires more planning, seeing as how you wouldn’t want to do anything to aggravate your alliance, which in turn causes there to be less things to do on the map at any given moment. This is actually better and more interesting, if you ask me, than forming a gigantic person-bubble and running in a random direction. Don’t get me wrong, there is a strategic aspect in your standard free-for-all. It just… changes the state of the game.
its a joke .. fa talking trash
wait til they meet gold league members again.
FA had been fighting Gold league level servers for a long time before leagues started, and maintained 5th or 6th spot for months. DB knows what’s up.
Gold league is nothing special, just more zergy.
Do they also have gold?
He is correct. If there is a 1st place winner, and two people in 2nd place, it WILL skip 3rd place and begin at 4th.
I think this is a really cool insight into the points. It would be pretty funny if more than three servers were awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. But….. SBI IS GOING DOWN!!!
“Still better than FA.”
:(
You may be asking why a FA person is here. I was bored. Haha. I must say, I had a blast fighting you guys during this league. FA certainly got the chance to fight many servers it wouldn’t have if it hadn’t been for the leagues. I can’t speak for all of FA, but I had to say that I really admire your sportsmanship going into these passed match-ups. I wish a lot of my fellow FA-ers were a little less kitteny. Good luck in your fight!

I like my WvW shaken, not stirred.
I actually really like Scarlet.
[GH], [Drgn] has loved running into you guys in the field and engaging Quaggan mode.
Hi Everyone!
Drgn has recently undergone a roster purge of inactive members and we’re looking to bring up the numbers a bit. I’m looking for people who enjoy doing dungeon runs (FotM, Arah CoF), guild events (rush, trek, puzzle, bounty, challenge), and world bosses (Shadow Behemoth (SB), Fire Elemental (FE) and Orrian temples).
I’m also looking for people who enjoy running havoc groups in WvW and would also enjoy running with a guild commander on Wednesday and Friday nights, as well as PvP.
All character levels, classes, and skill levels are welcome. We will help as much as we can with your levelling, WvW training, and answering any questions you may have!
Requirements and what to expect
As a member of the guild, we expect you to be friendly and courteous to people while sporting the [Drgn] tag. We will not tolerate trash talking about any guilds at any time. We do encourage constructive criticism and sharing of different ideas (opinions) in a civilized manner.
Representation is not constantly required, however, we would like you to represent the guild as much as you can and interact with the guild’s members (Socializing, helping out guild mates, and playing the game with them from time to time). After all, what good is being in a guild if you don’t talk to any of its members?
For guild events and WvW, we use Ventrillo and Teamspeak. We will ask you to download one or both of them for enhanced communication while playing the game so we can be more organized.
Membership to our website is not required, but we encourage you to join upon entering the guild.
If you would like to be a part of the guild and would be willing to accept these terms, please mail my account or send a whisper/mail to Tom.8029 and I’d be happy to talk to you about it.

Da’wwwww
Is FA mad about us capping all their keeps?
Yeah lets camp EB BL and build a waypoint says FTF.
Meanwhile in Every Bl, FA proceeds to spawn camp and gank roamers.
Let’s bully the other smaller servers says FA.
Lets Chest Thump because we are zerging the other server to no return.
Pathetic.Much Lost Respect for FA, I know its not everyone from FA, but it’s most that is ignorant about this matchup.
/Enjoying Stomping FA Zerglings when they don’t have their Zerg to support them
I’m sorry for whatever made you guys so mad, but this is just funny. This Screenshot says it all.
Leave DIE alone for god sakes.
Gasp One of my guild members is in that photo. I’m slightly disappointed. I do try to discourage spawn camping from my guild members. So I do apologize for that.
Every server has zergs. But not everyone on a server zergs. I run solo in WvW all the time. I often 1v2 and 1v3. I may not always win. But if I lose, I make them work for their kill.

Of course there’s trash talking. Some people see someone from another server doing it and they feel the need to reciprocate in the name of defense, vengeance, or just to stir up some trouble.
Just remember, if you see someone from any server trash talking, know that it’s the opinion of that one person and doesn’t account for the views of the entire server.
Keep up the good work this week, everyone!
Ehh… Well then maybe we just have less than you now and you, relatively speaking, just seem to have more. My bad. I’m not complaining that you have higher numbers than us. I just see a lot of negative comments that just so happen to take place when you guys are doing better than us. I hate that about competition. Can we have modest winners, please?
People from Magumma, now that you have increased numbers and are actually doing well, you’re getting pretty kitteny. Chill.
You should like totally come to Fort Aspenwood.
