I expect specializations to fill a gap in the current profession. Give us something the profession is currently lacking.
Although not something (completely) we’re currently lacking, I think Tempest could be something that either gives us Wards, which are large defensive AoEs, or something that combines the power of the other attunements.
I’ve heard that specializations will be taking a mechanic from other professions and giving them to the profession that’s getting the specialization.
For example, Mesmers got something similar to wells which fall under the Necromancer. Guardian got something similar to traps from the Ranger.
So what profession would wards fall under? I think they could be similar to the Warrior’s banners except not be moveable.
I think another strong possibility could be something similar to alchemy which could relate to elixirs from the Engineer or venoms from the Thief.
Now I know Tempest is just a fancy word for storm. But it doesn’t have to be in terms of weather. It could mean chaos, too.
I’ve also been told that the name Tempest isn’t necessarily confirmed yet. I’m not sure if that’s true. But if it is, then there’s still a chance for some other fun things.

If you make a Sylvari Elementalist, you’ll have the highest access to invulnerability in the game with the cultural skills.

I, personally, love Cleric’s gear. I use it in every game type along with my Soldier’s and Berserker’s gear.
Cleric’s does lack a little on the damage side, however. So if you’re going to use it, you need to be decent at might stacking and you can also supplement your trinkets, amulet, and accessories with Berserker’s attributes to give you that extra push in damage.
It works extremely well when I’m roaming around in WvW.

If there are issues with it making sense, like wielding a fiery torch while in Water attunement, I was thinking the torch’s animation could change with the use of skills; much like how even if you’re wielding a fiery blade while in Water attunement, the animation with Vapor Blade still changes your weapon attack (excluding Incinerator).
For example, during Earth attunement, the animation of the torch could be a little sand storm inside the torch instead of fire. Implementing it would take more time and effort than on other professions, though.
This also means that skills would overwrite the appearance of your torch. Although it might only be during the duration of the skill or it could be while in your respective attunement. In which case it would be a bit like the Engineer’s kits, in which you never get to see your back item because it’s always covered by a kit. If this animation change does take place, then it could be viewed as another tell to Elementalist skills.

I really like the idea of going to the Hall of Monuments each day to get some sort of daily quests to do in addition to my dailies. I remember in Guild Wars 1 when they implemented the banners that gave us a daily vanquish, boss slayer, and I think the third one was to do a specific missions/quest.
Now we do already have dailies in this game right now, so adding more daily things might be counter-productive or superfluous. But maybe these could be special challenging dailies to do. Also, I can’t remember if everyone has access to the Hall of Monuments or just people that linked their Guild Wars 1 account to their Guild Wars 2 one. But if it’s the latter, it would need to be made available to everyone equally.
Now, as for the justification for these quests from the Hall of Monuments, I would like it if there was some sort of story as to why this NPC there has spontaneously begun to give quests to players. What does he need the players to do for him?
I do like this idea. But like I said, I’d like it to have some sort of lore as to why this NPC needs our help. Having it just randomly happen would make me feel a bit odd about it.

Games, just like any other type of entertainment such as movies, shows, and books, have characters with opinions that conflict with our own. Just because you don’t agree with something doesn’t mean someone else doesn’t and that it doesn’t exist. He’s called the Mad King for a reason. Does this mean that the developers believe and agree with what this character says or does? No. But it’s good to see how people who are different than us think and act. There are people in the world who behave similarly to just about any character in any form of entertainment in existence. These things need to be known; not shoved under a rug so we can pretend they don’t exist.
Is the game wrong for having characters like this? I don’t think so.

I don’t have enough time to type it up, but I would LOVE to see a rune that converts a percentage of healing power into power. Similar to other runes and food that convert toughness and vitality into condition damage et cetera.

I think it is kind of weird to be force to get multiples pieces for two different sets before being able to complete a single set.

Do we know if the conditions applied by Arcane Precision are on a separate cool-down for each attunement or if they’re all on the same cool-down?
Arcane Precision is the minor trait in the grandmaster section of the Arcana trait line, just to help you locate it more easily.

So, I believe there to be a potential bug with Glyph of Storms when paired with Inscription. But since there are some inconsistencies with how glyphs operate, it’s difficult to pinpoint. As such I’ll go over the Glyph’s outcomes when paired with inscription.
Glyph of Elemental Harmony-
Boon- given based on the attunement the user is in upon cast completion.
(Can be cast in Earth, but if you finish the cast in air, you’ll receive swiftness)
Glyph of Elementals-
Boon- given based on the attunement the user is in upon cast completion.
(Can be cast in Earth, but if you finish the cast in air, you’ll receive swiftness)
Elemental- Also corresponds to the attunement the caster is in upon completion.
(Can be cast in Earth but finished in air for an air elemental)
Glyph of lesser Elementals-
Boon- given based on the attunement the user is in upon cast completion.
(Can be cast in Earth, but if you finish the cast in air, you’ll receive swiftness)
Elemental- Also corresponds to the attunement the caster is in upon completion.
(Can be cast in Earth but finished in air for a lesser air elemental)
Glyph of Elemental power-
Boon- Given based on the attunement the caster is in upon cast. (Instant cast so that’s why. There’s no time to switch attunements)
Although, once activated, the user will receive a buff that states *Chance for (attunement at cast) to cause (condition for attunement). This is odd because the spells can inflict conditions for the attunement it was cast in, in other attunements.
For example- If I cast Glyph of elemental power in water, it would say “Chance for water spells to chill.” This is not true because spells in fire can cause chill since it was cast while in water attunement.
Glyph of Renewal-
Boon- Gives a boon at the end of cast based on the attunement the cast was finished in. (If I cast it in air and switch to water before the end, I would receive regeneration.)
Revival- If I cast the entire spell while in Air, the target will be teleported to me (which is correct). If I begin the cast in water and switch to air before completion, the target will not be teleported to my location but will be revived at full health (This is backwards compared to the other skills). BUT, if begin the cast in air and finish it in water, the target will be neither teleported to my location nor be revived at full health.
If I begin the cast in fire and finish it in air, I am given the revival of fire buff and also the swiftness from air attunement. I’ve yet to try it in earth because I haven’t gotten 3 downed in a small area to confirm anything.
Glyph of Storms-
Spell- The spell has been iffy to me. I have cast it while in fire and switched to earth for completion and gotten sandstorm. I have also had it the other way around and gotten firestorm instead when starting in fire and finishing in earth. Most of the time, the spell seems to give you the storm based on the attunement you were in upon initial cast. But it doesn’t always seem to work like that.
Boon- In a normal cast with no switching involved, the spell will give you the boon for the attunement cast in. However, if I cast the spell in earth and then switch to air, I receive neither swiftness nor protection (This is yet another inconstancy).
Now, I could have sworn that earlier Glyph of Storms was giving me the storm of the initial attunement upon cast and the boon of the attunement upon finishing the cast. But this is no longer happening since I am receiving no boon at all.
These are some of the inconsistencies I have discovered and I feel there should be at least some form of pattern involved with what boon and spell to get and when to get it. I also feel that the Glyph of Storms issue where I am receiving no boon at all should be address.

Collection:
Basic Collections – Exotic Attire,
I have this collection complete and have not received the collection reward which is a Regal Bag of Goods. In the collections window, the chest that appears next to the collection’s name is open, suggesting I have already received it.
Rare Collections – Treasure Hunter,
One of the items needed for this collection is The Royal Signet of Doric. I have this item account bound in my inventory and it will not unlock for the collection. I suspect it is because the version I have has been infused. However, I feel this should not be a barrier for me to unlock it and should unlock regardless of it being infused or not. This is because if I have the infused version, the I must have had the uninfused version in the past.
Thank you.

Here’s how I see it. If you’ve been playing for a year, you have a good sense of the basics. If you’ve been playing for a year, you also have an item from your birthday that will instantaneously boost you to level 20. As far as I’m aware, boosting to level 20 will cause you to avoid most if not all of these restrictions.
If you haven’t been playing a year, then you wouldn’t have this item. But, who knows, maybe you’ll learn something new that you didn’t before.
Sure you may want to make several new characters in a short period of time and lack the correct amount of this item, or maybe you don’t want to skip levels, or maybe you feel like you shouldn’t have to rely on a single item to avoid this new content.
It could all be a little unnecessary for them to make things unavailable to more experienced players until certain levels. But for new players, I don’t see the issue. And as I’ve said, for more experienced players, you have the item alternative.
I made a new character the other day and actually rather enjoyed unlocking something new in every level. I also believe it gives new players an opportunity to become accustomed to and aware of some of the other features the game has to offer without them just being thrown to the wolves.
the NPE doesnt end at level 20, you still have skills locked out, the trait rework is actually also part of the NPE.
Also you get one birthday booster per charachter created, per year. in the first year i made like 5 or 6 charachters, so a new player today will have to go through the same thing every time they make a new charachter. I think many players make at least 2-4 charachters in the first year of play.
so they would not have access to these things.
I haven’t gotten my new character all the way through to be aware of all the changes, so I apologize for that. What skills are still locked at level 20? I remember before the update your elite skill was still locked until level 30 anyway.

Could I also get a movement option where I skip merrily instead of walk or run?

I used to think ele vapor form was bullkitten but having mained an ele for a while now I can say seriously that ele down state is underpowered. The only time vapor state is OP is in wvw, close enough to a friendly portal. The rest of the time ele down state is junk.
Lure eles far enough from the portal that they can’t slip through in down state, or have immobilize ready. It’s not a huge problem that you miss out on one bag. It’s the strongest downed state. It 100% without fail stops the first stomp attempt of just about any number of people and lets you reposition yourself.
A thief can prevent 2 stomps something no other profession can do.
Possibly the best downed state.Ele can be CC, can be killed, still get condition damage ticks and worst of all often it bugs in conjunction with MIST form.
You can tele to the thief after his tele (mid stomp) and kill him on the first stomp. Can’t do that against ele unless they are very very very bad and push 2 as soon as they are downed. Every other class can be stomped on the first attempt in some way… other than ele. That’s what makes it the best downed state. Having 2 ways of stopping a stomp is meaningless if your first way gets countered (just look at eng’s bad downed state).
I feel like I should mention this. I’ve been in a fight before where I’m about to press a skill and just before I do press it, I go down and instead press the skill that replaces it in down state. Said skill replacement can sometimes be Vapor Form. So I have gone down before and immediately Vapor Formed because of this. So if you see an Elementalist do this, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re bad. It’s more of an unfortunate turn of events. Haha.

Fort Aspenwood Elementalist
You can think about Rapid Fire in two ways.
First, the decrease in channeling time allows the ranger to deal more damage more quickly.
Second, the decrease in channeling time allows the ranger’s damaged to be dodged more easily and more completely.
Fort Aspenwood Elementalist
By the way, Mist Form is a Cantrip utility skill. You mean Vapor Form. That’s the down state skill.

I could be wrong, but I think you can also gather from nodes and interact with chests while in Vapor form. I don’t mean loot, as Neko mentioned, but real chests like the circular ones in Orr, for example.

@Tom.8029
The fact that you use Cleric’s amulet shows how good you are at the class. D/D ele is completely faceroll even “at a high level” (not sure how you know what people do at a high level). All you do is DPS in fire air, CC and protection in earth and then healbot healbot healbot water. I used to main ele back when it wasnt so faceroll but quit cuz its a joke now. Clerics is even more faceroll than Cele. Its literally a full heal every water attunement…
Some builds have full damage, some builds have full healing, and some builds have a good mix. My build has a good mix. Just because I have a lot of healing doesn’t mean anything. I still need to time my heals properly and manage cooldowns. Being in Cleric’s gear causes me to be weak in the damage department, so it takes skill to be able to take people down, I would think.
How dare you talk to people like this. I bet you’re pretty pleased with yourself because you played Ele more when it was more difficult to play and stopped playing now that it has become easier to play. I’ve played ele for a long time too. No need to be a jerk over the anonymity of the internet. It just shows what type of person you are. And the answer is a terrible one.
Fort Aspenwood Elementalist
I would recommend Cleric’s or Soldier’s gear. They can help keep you alive. If you use Cleric’s you’ll be lacking in power a bit so make sure to use an offensive rune or sigils.

I hate when ignorant people call thief an easy class, go play the meta DP spec, maybe it was easy back in december but months of power creep have left it worst class in game.
Ranger isnt medium difficulty its easier than warrior ever wkittenter mesmer is onr of the hardest specs in the game.
Elementalist isnt hard to play its faceroll.
Skill floor varies on game mode.
In WWW roaming most beginners rolls thieves and they are effective…
Some of them try an ele and get back to their thief in few minutesPU mesmer is all but hard to play…. i see that whatever you can counter is not a faceroll and fair
Even shatter is just extreely similar to DD ele….Ranger atm is just ridiculous.
Pressing 2 every 8 seconds takes no skill.
But hey ……thief can counter it with stealth so its fine.I wonder why you forgot to talk about engi…. i suppose its a faceroll.
Thieves are called “easy” because of scrubs using shadow arts in WvW. The SA ttaitline should be completely deleted because of the bias towards the class.
In reality thief is the hardest to play in spvp due to the low sustain you only rely on dodge and blind to survive .
Anyway the OP also do sent know what his talking about, D/D ele is not hard its faceroll even easier than warrior now. They have a braindead rotation , 12345 swap attunement 12345. Its totally skill less and the sustain on Ele allows so many mistakes compared to thief.
If you play any profession long enough it becomes easy to you. I’m not sure how long you’ve played D/D ele, but I’m just saying. But I will say that any D/D Elementalist that does 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and swaps attunements is not a very good one. D/D ele is all about the skill combinations. I use Cleric’s gear on mine, not Celestial.

I do agree that Earth Attunement and its associated abilities do offer a lot of good utility.
The idea for this trait stems directly from noticing that one day while attuning to Earth, I though it would make a lot of sense if it would count as a blast finisher and could also be interesting if it did.
This could be interesting for staff and dual daggers. Seeing as both sets only have a single blast finisher if you don’t use Evasive Arcana and utilities that are blast finishers. I actually believe that if they implemented this trait, it could remove some of the dependence on Evasive Arcana since most people that use it, use it for the heal in water on dodge (which we have Healing Ripple for) and the blast while dodging in Earth Attunement. Some people use Evasive Arcana for the blind on dodge in Air and the fire Aoe for the dodge in Fire. But I believe most use it for the Earth and Water benefits.
Fort Aspenwood Elementalist
I think Earthen Blast is a bit underwhelming and the blast finisher could be added to that. But if that’s too much, it could replace the damage and cripple on swap or it could be added to one of the master trait options or replace a current option.
By the way, Lostwingman, your response seemed a bit condescending.

> auto atk.. i got mixed feelings about that one
> skill 2 is awesome, can deal 700 each dmg(x5)(in pvp w zerker amu), nice toughness boost
>dust devil is a nice blind to have, and goes thro several ppl, ofc some may say its underwhelming, but alongside w air 3, its a nice chainblind, and both r in short cdi dont play staff at all, but i guess its pretty cool, it has an unlimited target knockdown thingy, a blast finisher, if u manage to pin ur enemy on it(it is actually easy, saw tons of ppl doing it) it deals awesome dmg, 5 s instant reflect, selfexplanationary, a nice immobalize wich goes through ppl
so tell me, how underhwelming is earth..
I said Earthen Blast not the entire Earth Attunement. It’s a single minor trait in the master section of Earth Attunement.

I usually just unlock the skin in the wardrobe and then leave it in my bank or inventory. If you store it in the wardrobe, you’ll need to consume a transmutation charge to use it. If you leave it in your bank or inventory, you can avoid that.
I suppose the tradeoff for putting it in the wardrobe is you have more space for other things. But I think if you already had a skin that you were able to use transmutation charge free, it should allow you to use it the number of times in relation to the number of skins you had available.
