6 hoursish… gave up, I’m okay with it, I tried, gave it my best shot… I’ll get the pumpkins I need to carve today and then be done with the event after the party.

I really enjoy the dungeon and I’ve basically only done WvW since I bought the game But this weeks my entire guild has been partaking in the content, it’s only when Gandara slipped into 3rd that we were suddenly “Oh Crap… neglected my duties”

Tonight in Eternal Battlegrounds on Gandara we were treated a wonderful player calling us all sorts of names and baiting players into arguments as well as slagging off some of the respected commanders on the servers.

It got to the point where practically all the folks in EB reported the guy for verbal abuse at which point he said he’d never be banned and we’d be stuck with him for hours.

I was wondering if in instances like these if you could let players who complained know that you’d dealt with the situation. I know it’s another task to add to the list but the guy in question suddenly went quiet and I hope it’s because you got rid of him rather than him getting bored.

It’s just one of those rare instance when you can let the community know you are working to keep the peace and all that jazz.

Can I not just pay gems for the title once the game realises I’ve spent six hours plus on it? Lol

I’m resigned to the fact that I’ll never complete the puzzle. Gutted yes but hopefully it won’t impact on any titles the event may throw out if I do every other achievement

My guild are usually all over WvWvW but this week we’ve barely touched it due to the Halloween event but when the server reset we were there when a Commander implied he would be glitching and needed people, the majority playing at the time said no, flat out refused and stopped going to his location, leaving him high and dry.

Gandara doesn’t do hacks even when we’re out numbered. If we know someone is planning on it, we tell them not to.

Don’t label the whole server because one person decided to do wrong by you guys.

Also the Labyrinth as a lot of pumpkins to carve inside.

To be fair this event has been so much more than you’d expect to see in pay monthly MMO’s so give ‘em a break they’re giving us good content to digest when it works

Although the Clock Tower… I just can’t do it

Entered alone, left to enter again and group up with my party but no one could get back in to the instance

I realise now that I’ll probably never get this done, I play one character and one character alone and it’s an Asura so apparently the camera is already working against me.

I understand that it’s supposed to be a troll puzzle, it is the Mad King after all but I’ll now not be able to finish all the achievements in the event, disappointing but life goes on, I haven’t managed to do it and there ain’t nothing I can do about that

Even when you’re not doing the same line and you’re having a conversation in /say this bloody well kicks in.

TWO HOURS!!! TWO HOURS!!! I still can’t do it!!!

If you do it on /say it’ll come up with a message to say that your text will not be transmitted due to ‘excessive messaging’ It lets you know which is just as infuriating as the text not appearing.

I totally get the anti-spam reason behind it but spammers are attacking us through the mail system, the only spam I’ve encountered in any of the main chats has been guild spam which is okay as the community tends to speak up if someone gets a little too persistent with their search for members.

For me, this is a real issue that’s really hindering my enjoyment of the game, especially as I was having fun in the clock tower lobby, the two to three hours I spent there and I’m still FALLING at the same jump!

I wonder how the Role Players deal with it. I’m a chatty person and stuck in the lobby of the clock tower and running around events is proving fun. What’s not fun is chatting to someone in /say whilst in the lobby and others are joining in but you can’t respond because you’ve been branded a spammer!

Fix it! I thought this was an MMO that wanted to build communities, not hinder them.

It really is annoying and has me sticking to guild chat now because what’s the point in getting to know other players in a social and annoying environment like Clock Tower if you can’t continue to chat to them between sessions?

Gandara has had an influx of new commanders as a lot of guilds transferred over from Underworld. They soon discovered their “DO THIS, DO THAT… NOW!” approach didn’t work. Just cause you have a little blue triangle above you doesn’t mean folks will follow you.

We’re a very community driven WvWvW server, we’ll chat in /team, we’ll have fun during a siege in /say. We’ll communicate with each other and bad commanders who thought they deserved to lead because they had 100g to spend soon discovered they needed to change their approach and they’re all the more better for it.

Play the game how you want to play it, get swept up in a Zerg as it passes and go with the flow or sit on a keep and call out incoming etc… it’s up to you. You could even flit between supply camps gathering resources and watching enemy movements… totally up to you.

The commanders for me are a point of reference for where the action should be happening, whoever’s closest, gets my help or whoever is treating the rest of their group with respect will 9 out of 10 have me by their side

Shouldn’t there be diminished returns for factions that are zerging whilst there’s no one else on the map? A reduction of up to 50% on locations… then as other factions begin to show up the points rise?

There has to be a way round it as US players which I think is great come over to assist the tier 1/2 folks meaning those mid to lower level on the score boards will never rise up out of their tier unless Canada or the US are hit by an EMP….

It opens up into a black expanse and beasties appear…. that add to the daily, I have seen some elite style beasts come out of the doors, I’ve also been in trouble when a number of skellys popped out.

If you follow ACT I to get the book then you’ll find doors along the way and figure out the best routes to stick to to get teh achievement.

As much as I was surprised to see that Underworld guilds had moved to Gandara the other day when we were all nattering in /team chat on borderlands, I’m kind of happy because Fort Ranik were whooping our bum and they are this time but not as badly as they did last time.

The more the merrier for us but free transfers are harming communities and aren’t really allowing people to make the links they should be when playing content like WvWvW!

Yes please!! It’s quite nice that on Gandara, guilds who claim actually take responsibility for the keeps they claim and upgrade them without prompting

It’d be nice to have the guild tags underneath the emblems on the flags.

I do think its silly that once someone has such a lead they’ve won for the week and it demoralises the servers they’re up against who quite until the following week, can’t be fun for them but there’s sooooooooo many on FR there’s no chance that either server will catch up alone.

Not sure why there’s no Parle point on a map where losing servers can’t meet up for a little truce agreement.

I just think there should be an option for servers to work together for a limited period of time, this being outnumbered gubbins is bloody annoying especially when you’re on a server with a healthy bunch of guilds like to play WvWvW and put up a good fight.

Although both servers aren’t out of the running yet :P

Don’t forget to share your tech specs like graphics card, processor and all that jazz.

There obviously a link between this and the graphics card issues… You having drops in frame rate? Artefacts appear on screen?

Had this as well just before my Gtx 460 died… All issue arose after the last content update and now I’m pc less

Weird, just been inside the pc and incredibly it was practically dust free on components sooooooo the circulation must be food, it was slightly dusty but not enough to cause issues

The cooking thing used to fix the red ring of death on Xbox although you had to wrap it in a towel and switch it on, so the cooking thing prolly works for PC components

Yes, I love the world, I love wvwvw, not too keen on the approach to pve though.

I’m pretty sure the bug that appears to be affecting graphics cards at the moment killed my gtx 460 which means the game cost me over £220 lol

Mmo forums are usually a lot worse Anet do a great job in moderating content

I’d be too scared to OC. I can reach into my PCs guts without fear but tinkering, oh good golly.

Besides this down time gives me time to wade through six films I have to review by Monday mostly horror, god bless Halloween.

Still pretty sure the game I’ve grown to love murdered my 460 lol… If only Jessica Fletcher were here she’d get to the bottom of this…

My psu is 950w pretty sure it should cope. It seems this issue is affecting a lot of people but none have encountered the severity mine reached just yet, I hope they don’t but most seem to be running the 500 series so maybe it’s a touch more stable.

My new card arrives on Wednesday so we’ll see what happens then

Thanks for the advice guys but the issue just got worse even with Windows and driver reinstall…. I shall dedust it when I go in on Thursday. Will reposition the PC and make sure all vents are free… they are at the mo but will be extra cautious.

Ahhh when GW2 recommended max I thought there wouldn’t be a problem and the PC Temp never gets too high judging from the LED read out on the front.

Oh well.. I’ve ordered the new card and an air duster, If I’m goin in, I may aswell give it a good goin over!

I was looking at the nVidia 560/570. Tried some of the suggestions above… but it does look like its fried but the error only started presenting in GW2. Everything else windows wise, transfer, interweb works behind the filthy lines so I am guessing the card is on the way out.

:( Reinstalled windows now, which should be done when I get back to my PC after food… But it’s one of the geforce…a lthough what are folks views on ATI

So, the game played beautifully with all the drivers fully updated but since the last patch whenever I played the game there would be these small lines flicker across the screen which eventually lead to a crash.

I thought nothing of it, rebooted and started again, today when I started playing GW2 I started to move after logging in to Lion’s Arch and BAM full blown crash, lots of lines all over the place, reboot, try again same thing but this time… my whole screen is greeted with the image below.

My display settings have all gone and it looks like the graphics card has been totally mullered….

Looked on the forums and people seem to be experiencing all sorts of graphics/PC crashes…

It looks like I now need to buy a new graphics card so which is the safest bet for playing a game I love? It’s not a situation I’d like to happen to anyone else and the PC is relatively new, i7 and all that jazz

The only way to really get them anyway is to go at Midnight on reset when the hardcore are on Night duty and grabbing everything. That’s how I got Gandara borderlands done, don’t think it would have been possible otherwise.

Because at least when you’re puzzle camping you’re on the other side. To put this tactic into effect, the enemy switches server and prevents the other team from playing tactically.

If you see folks doing it, I’d report them.

I think the play to win folks are the main culprits “Win at any cost” even if you have to cheat but we all know that when ArenaNet fixes these issues they will slowly go from top to the bottom and the community will be just fine with them down there

…. those ploughing in money to a keep/castle/location that get the insta claim? It seems silly that I can be ploughing money into a deserted post which has been claimed by a guild and folks will think they’ve done it.

The banners should also feature the guild tag below the their insignia so we know who they are

For example, those who spend the coin on upgrades get to claim… if another guild pays for the second upgrade it switches to them. I know there’s no real reward for claiming but I’ve fully upgraded Crag on Gandara with someone elses insignia there

Open world PvP could come in at any point as Treaties between the races are in place and could collapse at any time for whatever reason

At the moment though sPVP and WvWvW should be enough for any man… it’s only been two months and for me a few weeks so it’s not high on my list of priorities as I’ve having so much fun in W3

It was weird because Gandara last week were outnumbered by the other servers 2 or 3 to 1 at most points but on Reset night there was a weird shift where people wanted to get ahead of the game, guilds started recruiting stragglers and organising, making sure keeps were upgraded and supply routes were open.

the server appears to have pulled together this week in a big way, I hope it lasts but I get the feeling next week we’ll be slaughtered if we keep going the way we’re going.

Perhaps Guild claiming can lead to free upgrades as long as that guild remains with the position they’ve claimed. “Increased supplies from nearest supply camp – as long as it’s in the servers possession”, “Reductions in keep upgrade costs (Dependant on time spent at keep already)” that sort of thing.

I mentioned this in chat today and one guild member was like “Oh so you’re saying one guild member should leave their computer on all night?”

NO… I’m saying a guild who claim the keep should be responsible for it’s upkeep, upgrades and defence of that point on the map, if a guild goes offline or leaves the spot where that they’ve claimed the claim should wear off allowing those guilds that do want to play tactically to claim the spot tehy want to guard :P

I find guilds just claim and leave the places undefended…. I think if guilds get buffs or whatever from claiming it should be from the number of people that remain defending the keep in that guild…

Oh I defended Sunnyhill for 6 hours the other day but only saw like 3 fights in that six hours, I was paying for upgrades (all of them!), putting up all the arrow turrets and other siege equipment for little to no reward.

There’s no reward for ensuring your camp is fortified, there’s no reward for making sure you team has the tools to defend their position yet when the attack does come they all hop on to arrow carts and rake it in!

To be fair, the teams have to be even, the opposing forces equal and we know on a lot of servers that this isn’t happening. Some teams out number others 2 to 1, some higher probably from the zerg my zerg ran in to tonight lol

I don’t think winning team should be rewarded for winning, it’s a war… the only rewards should be cheaper upgrades or something of that ilk… or additional supplies when they have a supply camp.

These passive buffs are just silly and feed into the zerg mentality when if a winning server is provided additional support from Supply camps then the other services would constantly need to cut them off meaning that play style turns more to defence and ensuring they keep supply routes open.

Or something… it’s late

I think they need to reward people for defending. I always stay to protect my investment but if things were geared to also protecting your positions that you’d invested money in via buffs or some other sort of system that wouldn’t get exploited by people sitting on their bums then we’d see a more tactical approach to WvWvW.

At the moment it’s zerg zerg zerg…. Gandara is out numbered to the point where we can only hold a few positions at a time on Gandara Borderlands and no one upgrades or sticks around what we’ve had because "Oh they’ll zerg it and we’ll lose it, there’s no point… we’ll lose it over night.

Perhaps if you manage to upgrade a point fully there should be some sort of buff that prevents a team from taking it for a certain amount of time, that way the fights would push to the fringes, the supply camps in order to ensure that places kept on upgrading.

Actually I don’t know how you approach the issue lol

I never understood why those who bought the ‘commander’ thing couldn’t notify another server that they wanted to initiate an alliance to overthrow an overwhelming power on a map. In which case they would meet on neutral ground and a terms popup would appear with the amount of time the alliance would last for, the territory each server would claim as a result of the alliance etc etc….

You know a negotiation of sorts and as a result of the negotiation both servers would become neutral and wouldn’t be able to kill each other unless someone tried to break the terms of the agreement :P

I don’t know but I feel there’s one server dominating our server at the moment and I’d love to team up with the enemy!

Looking at the comments again I’m guessing I’m really lucky on Gandara as chat is actually used to communicate lol
