My personal whshlist:

- A decent autoattack (Instead of alwasys swapping kits, ecc… )
- At least one short cooldown leap, or whirl (so i can run through WvW maps)
- An Hammer build that does not need kits (If anet do not fix Hobosack)
- At least one or two blast finisher, or a fire field (might, might, might, might…)

All the rest is rubbish for me

I main engi, but war si my second character. I have a problem. I do mainly pve and pvp unranked, but i suffer when i have to fight mesmers.

I usually run a zerker build 0 0 6 2 6. With different weapons. I Usually axe shield/ hammer, or axe shield/longbow.

I love war’s playstyle, even more than engi’s. Do you guys have some tips to fight this trolling class?

Thieves are a problem when running SD.

Some tips :
Land your toolbelt reveal and burst HARD while he can’t invis.
You can try swapping Goggles for Elixer gun, as soon as the Thief engages you drop skill4 and cancel the animation, then hit him HARD. Elixer4 deals insane damage.
You can do this with Rifle 5 too. But less reliable and less damage, but it should pressure him enough on the engage.
Also protection injection and protective shield is pretty good for survival, ESPECIALLY protective shield vs thieves. You should swap Power wrench for it if you want to give it a try.
Runes of the Scholar are not suggested either in my opinion, especially if surviving is an issue. Rune of Vampirism is great for full zerk. Runes of the pack is better than Scholar too in my opinion.

Thiefs are the only class that annoy me. I can burst each other classes, except for Guardians and sometimes other SD Engi.

I started running not much time ago a Full Zerker SD Build in WvW. I love this build, but i feel like a soap bubble for any thief roamer. I have killed a lot of people, and also thefs too, but do not think that they were skilled.

Anyway some of them just went to stealth, after i started my bursting chain. Then backstab, stealth, backstab, and i die

Do you have any suggestion to facing these killers?

imho:

- This build is boring. I find tanky builds boring.
- Absolutely useless vs ranged builds (SD eng, Pew Pew Ranger, GS Mesmer Shatterer)
-To holding a point it’s better a shoutbow, then this build
- Rune of Vampirism is great with SD zerk build

Anyway if you play it with an organized group can stll be a good build.

If wanna be tank i would go with this one

imho, tool kit, and power wrench are a must for every pvp build

Well, I’ve never humiliated with a emotes players that I’ve defeated, both in pvp and wvw, because i think that it’s unfair and a braggart gamestyle. But I do not expect that other players understand or respect this ethic.

I thnik he was using a S/D-D/P at the first encounter. I think that he swapped to SB after we chased him. The problem is the blind and the stun. He blinds me so o lose my dps, then steal, bursting, then he interrupts my healing skill… then i die. Even if i use gear shield block, elixir S, toss elxir s, after these sklls i’m vulnerable

Well, maybe i deserve it. I chased him with a very squishy build. I cannot expect to beat class that is my direct counter, expecially if he is a skilled pro player

Yesterday evening i was roaming with my engi SD full berserker in Piken Square Borderlands (I’m from Seafarer’s Rest) when i see along the path a Piken Square thief wearing a Phatom’s Hood fighting a SFR Guardan. The thief kill the guard. Me, and an ele rush to help the guard. The thief hide, run, burst me and the ele wthout kllng us. We chase him he hid, run back, but never escape. At the end he kill the ele and me too, then start to jumping and laughing on my corpse.

I saw this kind of insane players on youtube, but i never faced them off in the game. Even if i was defeated and umiliated, i must say… chapeau.

Mt only regret is that i didn’t redord it.

if you want more mobility use rocket boots, instead of Elxir S. Also, Elxr Gun its a must for condi removal, so use t, instead of tool kit.

It’s not effective as the meta, but it’s funny and easy to play. I understand that nades can be annoing to use, ths is why i run this build.

NO! Just don’t go with this build in wvw or you are gonna get one-shotted!

Just kidding! btw, it’s really glassy, but if you master well the class and you don’t get raged if ppl kll you easily, feel free to mess around with it. I ‘m really enjoying it, expecally if you roam in a group of ppl, and there’s a least one tank.

This one. It’s cheap and it also suit good because of the the gears on it.

A good armor skin cuold be magitech or aetherblade, and for the back (If anet removes Hobosack…) the spinal blades skin

Since that we are going to take the hammer, want to ask you which skin would suit nice for this weapon, and the skin of the hammer too

Learn the correct chain of sklls: Magnet+Pry Bar+Net Shot+Blunderbuss+Jump Shot+Overcharged Shot, then when your opponent is on the ground launch to him Poison Granade

learn how use Healing turret, and don’t forget Tool kit#4, if you are in trouble

Hobosack is an abomination. It kills the beauty of the characther by removing constantly the back skin. Fix it. Please

play engineer since i started to play. It’s my main and i play it in pve, pvp and wvw.
For pve i’ve got the meta dungeon gear (berzerker+R. of the Scholar)
I can tell you that i tried the other classes, but this one is the only that like, because
-it’s quite effective in pvp, once you learn the correct chain of skills
-in dungeons it’s funny, because tbh, i used to play a war, but i was loosing my brain spamming GS#2, axe#F1…

to reach to level 80, well, go to the edge of the mist, with an exp booster, or play pvp and gain tome of knowledge

I’m posting this reply to contribute to the abolition of this abuse.

I would ask you what do you think about the Flamethrower in the classic pvp Celestial Rifle build.

I mean, since that i got sick about all these “superior-single-target-burster” thief, war, GS guard… i decided to try something else

It’s basically the Celestial Hybrid that everyone knows, but with the FT instead of the Elixir Gun or the Elixir S.

Of course, the purpose of this build is the decapping, but we do not loose damage power. Plus, we have a very short CD knockback with the Air blast, and a 20 sec CD Blindness, which saved my life tons and tons of times.

I feel much safe when i run with this build, because i have more survivability, expecially when they try to gank me.

With the classic build i get killed more fast, but with this one, i can survive longer, without loosing DPS.

So, whaddya think guys?

if the your dungeon party doesn’t look for meta classes, this build works pretty well for both wvwvw and pve.

if i want more survivability, i can swap Berkerker trinkets, with Celestial trinkets. This happen when i do roaming with little groups in wvwvw

Anyway, i’m waiting the expansion, because i fear that after HoT, actual builds could became outdated :P

it’s a Bunker/decapper. You have to go far, cap it, and hold it
Of course, it’s not better then a good Bunker Guardian, but imho, it’s still a fun play

If you like to be an annoying opponent(i love it… ^^) this is made for you.

I had a lot of fun with it. For a beginner it’s quite hard, because you have to switch always kit and choose the right skill, but if can use it well, you will be able to hold 3/4 opponents

if you don’t like elixir S, you can replace it with Elixir Gun or Thumper turret, or, if you want to be more aggressive, with Throw Mine, or Flamethrower, so you can interrupt the opponents.

I also run the Condinade, but when i run the decapper i feel more safe.
The problem with this build is that it has very low DPS, and it’s weak vs brainless LB Rangers who spam arrows, instead of Condinade, which very good vs Rangers, Guardians and Warriors
