First time I’ve heard of a hacker on our server. They will be stamped out though as soon as possible, we don’t stand for that.
I am not sure about this myself, I don’t care about constant retaliation however the amount of time between being able to put down the symbol I have counted on to be my combo field is worrying now. Maybe increase the length or the extended length of the trait improving symbols, this seems really inconvenient to those who actually get the combo field system and use it frequently.
The change also hinders builds like mine that are reliant on symbols and particularly symbol of wrath. Did retaliation builds really use this? I feel like I now have to build for retaliation to make the symbol worthwhile now. Could we not get a different boon or condition damage? Burning maybe?

As I stated almost my whole dungeon group has MF armor cause we farm elsewhere for money and yet we are very capable and have learned the dungeons we have played we can beat because we know how to do them, a 2% boost in stats here or there is not that big of an improvement, especially in explorable where you can get 1 shotted no matter what stats you have. I’m not for or against the argument here but I am telling you that in the case of dungeons MF is not ruining groups it is skill that is making them fail.
I agree MF doesn’t need to be in the game, but it is and it’s not as big an issue as people think it is. In group play that 2% is you know “Any little bit helps” but in the same token it’s not hurting either despite what is being said. What really needs to be worked on though is how they can make everyone feel their effort is worth while with or without magic find and yes right now magic find seems to be needed to ensure you get more money. The cost of various things are too high so people go out of their way to make sure they can get as much as possible, I am doing it along with thousands others and most of my guild. It does not hinder my guild however but removing it would let us focus on better stats and more strategic builds which I absolutely agree with.
I guess in closing, to reiterate, MF could be done away with but it is not hindering group play in any big way only skill of the individual is.
it is not as simple as changing one tiny thing, every change can effect a multitude of other things and it takes time to test the new build and find out. Thats why for example when end game stuff was fixed beginning areas had some issues, the changes effected other areas.
Zzulu is right though, it is a release and at release its gonna be buggy, but its had a better release with more content then even WoW. What needs to hapkitten not on A-Nets part, they are already doing what needs to be done, everyone else needs to calm down and stop demanding instant change, it simply can not happen that fast. If you want instant gratification perhaps play a facebook game and pay to win there.
- if you wear magic find gear in dungeons you are kittening your party for the sake of personal gain.
completely untrue, the group you party with matters far more. My group has no issue in dungeons only explorable versions really have us in any danger. Many of us who go wear magic find and it has no impact at all on the effectiveness of the group.

Zoula is right, our attitude is not about being the most hardcore PvP server out there, we literally have a mix of everything you could want on our server, PvPers, WvWvW…ers with a huge alliance of fairly well co-ordinated guilds and commanders, RP and so on. We aren’t out to be the top world but we are better then many suspected. We just want to have fun though, if it becomes uber competitive in WvWvW you’ll likely see a drop in activity, we are fighting worlds around our level of play, where we can win and be challenged doing so, or if loosing fight tooth and nail and feel like we are accomplishing something. We only need more people at night to help fill in the gaps, but not super competitive people/guilds that only care to win.
I think the issue here is that near every server needs a night time crew. It doesn’t matter TC, SoS, GoM, whatever, we all need those who are available at night to keep fighting. This is SoS’s thread asking for help, TC has our own. Everyone on every side of the fight is gonna talk about beating each other and ignore any negativity about the way the fight is going, I mean if you want people to join you are you gonna talk about the time you are loosing or the time you are winning?
I hope both TC and SoS get a round the clock fighting force, the battle this week has been a lot of fun and a 24/7 battle with you guys will be even better. It’s no fun to have no opposition and be handed everything just because people have to get off due to sleep deprivation.

Tarnished Coast guilds likely will not leave TC just due to the fact that those here now are RPers and it is the unofficial RP server. People do not want to give that up just to make a better WvW server. Go figure though this large group of RPers also has a strong community in WvW. If several SoS guilds came here it’d be great but I kinda doubt TS would be leaving their server cause it has this extra tag to it others don’t.

What happened? Elaborate.
- A player is running by me with about 10 mobs following him, which attacks me when he is out of reach. This is my number one cause of death in this game.
This is rather annoying, people will just let you deal with mobs, you think you are helping and attack a few but they just leave you with everything.
- No one is ever reviving. It looks like no one gives a kitten anymore. They’ve hit max level and are now just farming those gathering nodes, not caring to help the downed or defeated player.
This depends, at least on my server you get picked up most of the time, but in high level zones you do have a higher chance of it not happening. In events however, particularly ‘farm road’ and more specifically penitent camp, if you go down because you stayed in the risen chicken explosion, expect not to get picked up.
- If you’re not following the Zerg you’re a kitten which is only thinking of yourself. This is at least what I’ve been told when I have been running around Orr with friends doing events. The Zerg somehow claims that we’re “stealing” their loot….
This I have never encountered, infact I have seen the opposite in events where people are actively pushing or pulling enemies away from the group or several people are stood in 3 different spawn zones killing things so that they never reach the mid point where everyone could benefit from it. Everyone looses.
- If you’re alone or outside prime time you’ll never get the skill challenges, events or waypoints. All the players around are either bots or they’re just there to farm resources.
again not something I have encountered, there is always someone available to help if you really need it and our map chat is active with people letting us know when events go up.
- Everyone is just minding their own business.
Again not really true on my server, people still help out they just stick to several areas mostly, but for the most part if you ask people will come.

Why does everyone expect something brand new, as big and different as this to work perfectly ever, but especially when released? It takes time to get things right in an MMO and it might be hell for a while, deal with it and things will get better. This game however will never give you the best skin or gear without effort and a good deal of time.
If you move around and fight different mobs in different areas you will not have DR or not as severe as people think it is. As per waypoint costs, you are making plenty more then them in these events so yea, use em.
Also, the game isn’t about farming, why not just do something else with the 40 minutes. Although I don’t see how you get DR within 20 it usually takes about a an hour.
I switch to a low level character after farming all the time and I have not seen any change in loot drops for them when I am just doing whatever and leveling. I am sure someone will tell you the exact opposite though.
That puzzle has some bugs with it making it more difficult, the dying you mentioned. Dying in other puzzles though is meant to happen. However otherwise there is nothing that needs to change.
I wonder how people play other games. Do the same people sit in one spot in say Skyrim just to try and max out their level? And then what, when you are finished getting every skill 100 percent, grinding out whatever achieves and so on, do you just go and enjoy the game then? Or because there is no more grind to do is that just it, end of the game? I mean there are plenty of entertaining things to do in this game that do not require sitting in a single area. I just don’t get how thats fun and when the game tries to tell you to at least just change up your spot it’s a huge ‘kitten’ fit on how the game is terrible for not giving you the instant gratification you demand of it. Play and pay for stuff in a facebook game if you want instant gratification.
There is no reason to remove it at all. Every area remains at least somewhat challenging giving you a reason to enjoy the old areas still and help out low level friends without obliterating everything. If you are level 80 though and going back to a level 15 zone and are dying then you are doing something very wrong, even with the level down I blast through low level stuff.
How to counter one is nice to know but how do you play one? I am having a lot of trouble on my secondary character, more then one mob is often stomping me and I can only sometimes kill vets alone. I feel so weak and even all that fancy dodging and stealthing is barely doing a thing for me. There are times where I feel the class is great and I am going around doin fine, but far too often I am frustratingly unable to complete something my primary character did with ease. I’m currently running with dagger/dagger sword/pistol but I have tried everything.
I have my build as a 2 handed survivability sort. Power and Health max and the rest in toughness. Its back up is symbols, making them larger longer and adding effects or more damage. Farming wise the greatsword symbol is perfect to hit everything and get your tag on a creature and spinning gets you a good bit of health back. I have vigil armor stats though, thats one area I didn’t pay much attention to so I dont know what is most effective but it works for me. The slots are fill with traveler and pirate stuff for magic find a long with the jewlery, though I plan to do a second set of armor and jewels without magic find when I get the money to do so.
Trait wise though, on land they are very survivable, along with save yourself and… the ability to turn conditions to boons you can stop most additional incoming damage.
A PvPer might be able to complete the monthly but, as you are claiming to be strictly PvE then we are talking about someone strictly PvP. Neither of you will get a legendary either. The PvPer will never get map completion, never get many titles from the various achievements, and never have much of a use for those tokens he is getting.
Perhaps you should just give WvW a try, if you have not you really do not know how different it is from truely competitive play and how easy those kills will actually come. The point of these achievements is to get people to try and experience everything it just so happens, until they start making new types of monthly and daily achieves that a PvPer can get them all… still can’t do much with the reward though.
It is not fun to be killed over and over, which is what people will do to new players, PvP in PvE is just bad. Dueling will likely be added and thats fine, it fits but PvP doesn’t. It ruins the game anyway, the races are all working together to kill the dragons but here comes guild X ready to kill all the newbies who spawn in Queensdale. Meanwhile they ignore the mass of enemies causing trouble in the land already. It does not fit in this game, there are no factions. Being able to kill each other barely adds anything to the game, there might be some legitimate fun to it but the negatives far out way anything good.
Excuse me if I am wrong but DR= Drop Rate yes?
Is it really fun to sit there and grind out some material? I mean who plays the game for that other then bots? How is that remotely entertaining? There are plenty of other more interesting goals to set for yourself that will gather the materials and gold you need to obtain legionaries, which btw require legendary effort to obtain, makes sense. These weapons are basically just skins, thats the point. However should you move between maps and enemy types all day and you played non stop the DR would not drop much. You’d see it, move on, repeat and eventually come back to the start 5ish hours later seems to be the reset time when I am gathering in Orr. I will log out of my main and play my second and when I come back later loot is fine. I don’t get how thats a big deal.
As for all the bugs… the game just released they need time to fix it all up, no release is perfect for a while but this release has been much better then plenty of other MMOs. To me it just looks like people trying to find any little thing to complain about to justify returning to other MMOs they get or just warrant not liking the game. If you don’t like it fine, but trhat doesn’t mean the issues you have with it are fact or are not being worked on.
Lastly, A-Net has said, play other games, GW2 will be waiting. With no sub you have nothing to worry about. If the bugs bother you then come back when you see mention of a majority being fixed.
There is no reason they should only focus on PvE players. Sure the PvP can complete the achieve but no where near as easily or quickly and pure pvpers will miss out on tons of achieves that pve-ers wont. They are giving something to involve everyone here. Go try some WvW its not the same as arena and you will find it easy to get your kills if you devote a few days to it on and off. If you really do not want to, then just like a pvp only, you just wont finish the achieve like they cant finish the map for example.
They have two teams working on things btw. This is a non issue. Team one is fixing the game, team two is working on future content.
The problem with Guardian underwater weapons is that they force you into certain roles. You are support underwater and that is it so if you aren’t speced for that you’re gonna get stomped real easy under water. Im built for 2 hand survival but underwater a single enemy can down me if I am not careful, above land I can take on vets and multiple mobs.
One of the things Unique to Thieves though is speed, it’s something you can spec them for versus other classes.
You are not punished for doing DE’s, you loose loot when you do the same ones over and over. If you switch up the areas, even on the same map, as well as the mob types, then you will see the loot become regular again until you farmed that too much as well. I see no reason why they should make the game so that you stand in one area and get everything you want.
You can spec for healing in this game but they are never going to make enough abilities to keep someone constantly healed if they can not watch over their own health. You can heal others as much as you like but if they stand where they shouldn’t, do not dodge when they should, and so on you can only do so much. If anything worry more about protection skills in the game instead of healing, stop and mitigate damage, everyone can repair themselves.
Lol nice, didn’t even know, I was on my alt, Trokky the Asura there.
Was random and fun. I went to the trading post before it began to dance with my friends there. As more people joined some Sylvari was like, “I… feel something… stirring inside me….” And then he burst into a Kodan. And soon after everyone was.
Here’s the thing: if the grubs spawn as a mechanic of fighting a risen giant, then keeping the giant alive to harvest grubs is NOT, by definition, an exploit.
An exploit is a flaw in game code discovered by a player and used to unfairly enrich his/her self (hence the usage of the word exploit ) I.E.: the karma price exploit.
It was clearly coded into the game, on purpose, and should not be nerfed or have drops disabled.
Your wrong, while coded in the game, the result of exploitation was not desired and them taking it down is proof. People were not playing as intended and did something they did not expect which ruined how the giants function. It was not meant to be a farming thing at all, you were meant to be fighting the giant who adds mobs to help him fight, but your fight was meant to be with him. The exploit is the fact that you are ignoring him to create a scenario where you benefit far more then you should.
It is not a legitimate game design, which is obviously why it is removed right now. As intended you would fight THE GIANT while killing adds and take it down. I could swear it is a mini event as well, giving some silver and karma or something in addition to whatever the grubs give you. You choose not to kill it though, bypassing and abusing what was intended and it is ruined for everyone because of it, all grubs everywhere, thanks to people who exploited.
I see people keep cropping up with “this text is a terrible solution” its not a solution, its a bit of duct tape for the moment until the get the right piece to make it work right. It wont be there forever, just for a moment, its not a big deal.
This would help me play better and some classes need it… thief for example. I could really use this on my thief.
This message also pops up killing grubs in Celadon Forest (Sylvari start area). Is that intended?
Until they decide how to fix it exactly, which is not as simple as some people think, all grubs have the loot disabled this way.
(edited by Trock Bronze.9625)
It’s an exploit because it was not meant to work like that. They expected players to kill the giant as well not EXPLOIT a game mechanic and keep it a live for infinite loot.
killing random mobs of the same sort in the wild is not the same as an infinite spawner of 1 mob that you can ignore and indefinitely gain loot. Your grawl farming will not go, but if that Asura in the mountain were to say constantly throw grawl at you until you walked in there and killed him, and no one went in and killed him, only killing infinite grawl, then it would also be removed and later fixed like this.
Not to mention the speed and little effort required to obtain these materials exploiting the giant like this.
(edited by Trock Bronze.9625)
People don’t kill the champion though, they purposefully ignore it to exploit it.
In a while you get a message that whenever you kill 5 mobs in a row.“Youve killed to many mobs in a short amount of time, please wait 30 minutes before killing the next mob”.This game..is starting to become limited, very…limited.I’m seriously starting to lose interest more and more.
It was an exploit, unlimited, unending, easy to kill mobs, how can that not be an exploit? People were unfairly gaining from this, it needed to be fixed.
How is grinding mobs any different ? If you look at any other mmo, grinding the same mobs over and over to get some maths,is different then killing these grubs..how exactly ?
Any other MMO is the point, GW2 doesn’t want that. Again though, this was a specific way to gain an advantage of time with little effort for decent profit, it was an exploit not a grind, there is a difference. Can you not obtain the loot you need simply doing events and fighting your way through the land? Yes, yes you can, it just requires more effort and thats where peoples issues come in, they want it to be as fast and easy as possible.

It was abused and it was an exploit. The point of the giants was to be fought and killed along with the adds they spawned, not to be ignored and have the adds indefinitely killed. What I don’t get is why people are so mad, it’s so obvious why this was done. Sorry but you’re gonna have to farm like everyone else, where there is no endless supply and you have to wait for events and mob spawns.
@Voqar- It is assumed the message is there right now as an obvious temporary fix until they figure out exactly what they want to do here. Problem is whatever they do, if grubs give x, people will still exploit it. they need a way to make these giants less exploitable, forcing them to have to be killed. Perhaps the giant could simply not throw grubs as often, have more powerful attacks, and so on to kill lone players trying to exploit it/do something to make it more of an annoyance if left alive and better to kill off instead. Maybe they could make rogue giants tare camps down if not dealt with, contesting points without events, then events happen causing you to have to face whatever it is throwing at you plus a champion giant. there are a lot of options for them to consider before they fix the problem. A message for now is fine, it does the job.
I have a few issues with underwater combat, perhaps Monster Hunter spoiled me.
-I have to agree that you feel significantly less powerful underwater. I play a guardian traited for survivability. On land I can take on two vets, sometimes a champion, and plenty of mobs(separately of course) and often 2 players in WvW at a time. When I go underwater though I can barely take on one and honestly I think it’s the weapon options. (Also Risen Farmers are super OP at times). For my guardian I am forced into a role underwater and this is why i would prefer more weapon options or simply allow us land weapons under water with new skills akin to what they do on land. (Who cares if its not exactly possible to use a greatsword underwater, there are plenty of things that simply work ‘because’ in the game, I doubt that would be so jarring. Make it attack slower but still give the satisfying capability it has on land.)
-When underwater I am forced into a support role, which is fine, if I were specked for it, instead due to my choices that allow me to play very well on land and still support my allies in the way of my choosing, the role I am made to play underwater messes that up and makes me less useful let alone powerful.
-Now underwater in this game IS better then other MMOs, but it is not perfect and I do still avoid it as much as possible. I think they could honestly do with a look at Monster Hunter, the underwater combat is much more fun and the style of combat is not that far from adaptable to the way things already work in this game. If they are going to have a deep sea elder dragon in this game at some point they really really need to consider fixing up the water combat, and honestly either letting land weapons go underwater or adding more choices for underwater combat would easily begin to help.
Interesting, I was very curious about the dungeon but I haven’t had the chance to get in there yet. From the sounds though it is either something still relating to Primordus or the green plant/earth dragon. I’d love to see this solved but I have limited GW1 knowledge for any connection there and I haven’t seen that name pop up in GW2 anywhere.
I would imagine these are things that will likely come in the future. Right now they are trying to get the game working as close to perfect as they can, and it’s gonna take a while longer still. Once they get the major issues out of the way then they can start focusing on the fun little things again. We can only wait right now but I can’t imagine they wouldn’t be adding more options of the sort, the only thing I don’t see them considering without suggestion is the underwear, which, yes we need more options or at the very least the option to color them differently with our dyes.
The tag is not necessary in the least, you don’t need to purchase it. If you really need it on all characters then, like a legendary, its gonna take a long time.
As was suggested a while ago, scaling the events better is what we need. based on the number of players around not just throwing more at them but changing tactics and such, giving the enemies the chance to really pound us into the ground would be nice. in stages you’d have like, enemies charge, more players more enemies, more then we add in more vets or even a champion, more still give them some seige to hit us with as well, and so on. the enemies in most war time events should have a better strat based on how many of us there are.
You can attack them, without pressing F, and often kill them faster. Even dead though they can be brought back up. It can get annoying but more then anything Id rather see them change it so that if you die there is no ressing, only downed in PvP.

Well there is plenty more in the game then undead, they are simply the first and biggest enemy in the end. however we will be fighting the other dragons, this is only the start, we got lava, ice, crystal, probably some under sea one, and maybe a plant dragon to deal with still. There will be plenty more in the future.
This makes no sense, ‘users stacking magic find are selfish’. No, they want to have better chances of making money and obtaining better items/materials. You choose not to wear it just as they choose to wear it. It does not harm the team as has been stated but it’s this perceived notion that these people are somehow selfish that makes you guys dislike them. Having a small bonus to health and armor versus say health and magic find is not gonna be any sort of big difference in the way a player plays.
One person prefers more gold/items to a small bonus in stats, neither effects each other in any significant way.
