“They can’t see me. I can’t see them.”
Michael J. Caboose ~ RvB
I don’t see why you are all having so many issues with this. Ya I have knocked an enemy out of someone’s attacks before and had it happen to me, usually by my own pet, but what I have the most problems with is my target moving out of my attacks, more so in sPvP than PvE and WvW, but it happens there too.
I played both ways on multiple professions, and I like this way better. The old way was a pain on eles and necros. In fact, the only class that it was not a pain on was the engi. Oh, and don’t forget underwater combat. This way is much nicer. I don’t have to level multiple weapons to get all of the skills, I just have to get to level 10, equip the weapons, and I’m done. As for the PS, well I disliked being able to do a level 80 mission on a level 60 character. I have done that befor. Trust me, not fun. Now that I can only do those missions when I’m level 80 takes away the temptation and the pain. So ya, I really like the new system better.
The Tempest is making me want to main Elementalist, but I already do, hence the conundrum. Anyone else having this problem, an Elite specialization making you main a profession you already main, or is it unique to just me?
I take no one knows then. I would like an answer Anet, please.
Now that the Revenant has weapon swapping, will weapon swap sigils still trigger on Legend swapping? Sorry if this has already been asked.
Before I get started, I want to point out that I pre-purchased HoT yesterday just for this beta, and that this is my first HoT beta. I got three things to say so far.
1. I like the skills, but I’m having trouble finding a build that suits me. Make’s sense seeing that there are 9 weapon legend combinations, but I still wanted to point that out.
2. The numbers need to be reworked. This includes damage, energy cost, length of effects (boons, conditions, control effects, and other effects like the shield from hammer skill 4), and activation and recharge times. If anyone wants to add to this list, be my guest.
3. I don’t know if it’s because of the beta or the fact that I pre-purchased HoT, but the new music on the character selection screen is amazing. What is it, and where can I find it?
I don’t know about that, but I had thought for a while that this game needs Krytan Fried Chicken, or KFC for short. You guys know you want it too.
I take it that the OP never played Final Fantasy. Magic, bows, swords, and guns. In fact, one of the most well known weapons from FF is the Gunblade. In fact, there is atleast two that I know of: One from VIII and one from XIII.
Also, define magic. Everyone defines it differently. My two favorite definitions are “the unknown or the unexplainable,” and “the manipulation of energy.” The first one suggests that what we call “Science” was at one time or another magic. The second suggests that almost everything is magic. With that said, can it really be said that magic and guns can’t mix?
I know what some of you are thinking, “This is about one of the new Engi skills and thus should be in the Engi thread.” Well, you are wrong. I’m not taking about the skill; I’m taking about what its name implies, and that is that we have spaceships or satellites. This leads to three theories.
1. There is at least one spaceship or satellite that we don’t know of. Looking at what we have now, this is unlikely.
2. Anet is hinting at something that’s going to happen sometime in the future. Still seems unlikely to me.
3. Anet chose the best sounding name without thinking of what it implies. As this is a very human mistake, and the people at Anet are indeed human, of the three theories, this seems to be the most likely.
I want to hear what my fellow players and the people at Anet have to say about this. Which theory do you think is correct? Am I right in thinking that 3 is the most likely?

Sounds like a classic match of Juggernaut, with a Guild Wars 2 twist.
They said that the new Lion’s Arch was going to be amazing. Well, it’s not. It’s AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK I’ll stop. But anyways, you guys nailed it this time! You just need to work on using the right words to describe it. Amazing job guys! Now two quick questions, how the heck do I get to the merchant south of Diverse Ledges Waypoint, and where’s Troll’s end? Opps. Got one more. Where’s the Areodrome? Thanks angin Anet!
P.S. That flower merchant is a rip off! I guess that’s the point though.

Ya, I never got a 20 level tome, but I’ll have 79 ToK after tonight’s daily long-in reward. I have a bunch of level 80 gear, and I want to see how well the Duke can fight that. Plus I want to do this after Tuesday’s update, see how the new system works.
Ok thank you very much.
Is it 80 tomes or 79?
I thought it has been Shockwave for a while. Could be wrong.
Lol. This got funny fast.
Lion’s Arch. Well, the new Lion’s Arch.
I agree. LA has always been in a special place in my heart. It was one of my favorite places in GW1, and I fell in love with it all over again when GW2 came out. Even when it was destroyed, I like to run around it. Can’t wait for the new map.
If it’s an Android, who made it? Samsung? Also, can we use the Tablet to go on to Wiki?
Ok ty guys. That helped a lot.
Is there a list of the changes Anet showed us somewhere? I tried Wiki, but while it talks about some changes, I can’t find a list of the new traits, or anything else on that matter.
Can any Anet employee that goes through the forums answer me this?
Is PvP and WvW getting the short straw compared to PvE?
(I already know he answer, just want to hear what excuse you guys can come up with)EVERYONE thinks their favorite game mode is getting the short end of the stick. It the “grass is greener” type issue. Truth is, there is no short end of the stick, it’s a really short stick for everyone.
I agree. I have read posts From people who PvE that say that PvE is getting the short end of the stick. Same applies to the other two areas.
Did you check your settings? That’s the only thing I can think of.
Same on you! I’m hurt, angry, maybe a little hungry.
Sheogorath is that you?
No man. It’s Nora Valkyrie from RWBY.
I really hope that you can bring this to NA!
My idea is really Anet’s. “In the meantime, we’d like every guild, group, and gang of friends to consider how they’re going to celebrate the new Lion’s Arch. A poetry reading? A historical reenactment? A musical extravaganza? Or how about just…a party?”
While I don’t know about the poetry thing, and music is a given, the reenactment idea could be really cool. I have no idea how you can do it though.
Has ArenaNet ever said if they allow machinima or not. I asking mainly because I have not seen much in the ways of GW2 machinima. Am I not looking in the right areas, have people not make any, or are they not allowed?
To CETheLucid: True, but I think they could have started with “Don’t Fear the Reaper,” then move on to a more contrasting song. You know, kind of like “You don’t need to fear me.” fallowed by, “Nevermind what I said. FEAR ME!”
To all: I’m sorry, but have no idea who Jason or Pyramid Head are, or what the cowbell is. Mind telling me?
How dare you Arena Net say “Fear the Reaper” without playing Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper!” Same on you! I’m hurt, angry, maybe a little hungry. That last part’s not you falt. Anyways, if you are going to reference a good song, play it!
I just have to ask, how do we know that sword ele is not going to be ranged like GS mesmer and hammer rev?
Data mining a few weeks back showed it will likely be a melee class. Also, you need to consider that so far it seems to be a mainhand only weapon – unlikely that eles will dual wield Sword.
Also, usually in RPGs tempest is used to denominate melee fighters which excel at maneuverability and quick attacks, so it also seems unlikely to go with a ranged flavor.
Another possible indication that it will be melee is that as a one handed weapon, it would only be usable with Dagger Off hand (a melee weapon) or Focus (which has more defensive skills). Ranged sword with melee dagger would be a weird combination, so you would be left with only one option – sword and focus, which kinda goes against their goal of having build diversity if it only meshes with one of the off-hands.
What leaves me concerned with tempest though is how likely it will overlap with dagger, our other melee weapon. I don’t know how they are planning on making it a good dispute between going dagger or sword, if both are focused in melee.
At the end of the day I think we will have either dagger being deemed redundant or sword being discarded, rather than having a new build option…. this is left to be seen, but I don’t have a good feeling about it after the trait changes.
Ok. I see some of your points, but have you never played a S/D ele before? Ranged main hand, melee off hand, and I must say, very fun.
I just have to ask, how do we know that sword ele is not going to be ranged like GS mesmer and hammer rev?
Remember, you can have both a primary and secondary profession in GW1. You can change the secondary later on in the game, but not the primary. My favorite primaries are Ranger, Ele, and if you have Factions, Assassin. I highly recommend using these sites for almost anything: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page and http://gwpvx.gamepedia.com/?cookieSetup=true. The second link has good builds. Also, please note that unlike 2, GW1 is not a solo game, but if you can’t find players to help you, there are npcs that will join your party.
Is it worth buying? I’ll say yes, it is.
Is it better than GW2? I like Gw2 better, but that’s just me. Really, the reason why I can’t go back is in GW2, you can move while using most skills. You can’t do that in GW1.
Does it still have a large player base? Oh ya. Not as large as it was before GW2 came out, but it’s still big.
Better because of skills? I like the builds in GW1 better, seeing as there is a lot more that you can do, but over all, I like the skills in GW2 better, mostly for the reasons I stated before.
Any graphic enhancement mods? I don’t know about that one. I know there are some mods, I just don’t know if they are what you want. This wiki page has a list of different lists of different mods: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guide_to_modifying_in-game_graphics/Texmod/Player_made_modifications
I hope that helps.
I’m not defending the dervs, I’m saying that they made it clear that GvG and the Guild Wars, which happened before anything that happens in GW1, have nothing in common. Also, if I’m not mistaken, they said that HoT is coming out with a GvG like mode. Also, I never considered GvG to be a key part of the game.
What kinda bothered me was that there was no mention of a new race… I was kinda expecting Tangu or Kodan, that would’ve been so nice. So is this completely off the table or is there still a possibility to play with a, let’s say, Kodan Revenant?
They did mention new races at PAX South. They clearly said that they are not making any new playable races.
The charr call humans mice, so maybe that has something to do with it. To me though, Asura are creepy little gremlin.
Also, bleeding does damage more frequently than burning, I don’t think that is changing.
They both trigger once per second, so what are you talking about?
If you lump bleed numbers together, they show once per second, but otherwise you see a large number of smaller values. Unless those are just cosmetic?
Most likely it has to do with stacks. If you go to this wiki page; http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Condition_Damage ; it says that bleeding does 42.5 per stack per second. Note that “per stack” are the key words in that sentence. If one stack is applied half a second after the first, then by definition there would be a half of a second between the damage stacks. Also are you sure that the numbers you see is not from your non-condition based attacks?
Oh my god! Yet another one of these topics! For the who knows how many it is now time, the name was to do with lore! If you don’t believe me, look at this wiki article: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Guild_Wars

I see where you are coming from, OP, but I don’t agree with that effect. When I think of burning people, I think of them running around like headless chickens and spreading the fire. I kind of like ProtoMarcus’s idea about the speed boost. But what I would love is something like the GW1 Disease but it can spread among members of all races, not just the one who had cast on them. Keep the other mechanics though. For more info on Disease, check out this link: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Disease
So essentially any character that is dead, dying, or will die can be recasted at any given time under a coat of “alternate reality” paint.
ZHAITAN LIVES
Wait. Doesn’t this mean that Scarlet Briar lives as well? Makes you think. And while we are at it, the mentors also live. Cool. All the possibilities!
You know, I forgot that I started this topic. I was quite surprised to have gone on the forums, click on a random topic on the first page, and then find out that I’m the first poster. LOL.
Anyways, on topic, the “One” in the title was for effect. It does not mean that you can’t post more than one thing.
Seeing that I didn’t add anything, what I want are the some of the builds back. You know, Sabway, Nuker Ele, Discordway, Touch Ranger, Pet Dagger Ranger Best Master Ranger, MM Rit, Crit Sin, Etc. Etc. I miss them all. Don’t get me wrong, I love some of the GW2 builds, in fact I want to somehow sneak my GW2 Ele into GW1, you just gotta love the classics. Am I right?
Need I remind you guys that they did the same thing with GW2? Truth be told, I’m surprised.
I disagree. I use a S/D Cantrip Ele, so I have a lot of AoE.I have been doing a lot of ranked PvP lately, but I have noticed that I can hold my own in a one-vs-one against most builds that I have faced so far, the three that give me the most problems are minnion Necros, turret Engi, and well let’s just say that mesmers almost always murder me when I fight them on my own. Eles are known for having some of the best AoEs, yet AI builds usely kill me. Also note that my build is designed around out living my targets.
There have been many times in which I’ll try to sell an item on the TP, and I have noticed that while I can’t sell Item X for less than 2 silver, there will sometimes be buyers how are listed for 1 copper. If I can’t sell Item X for less than 2 silver, then people should not be able to list a buy price that is less than 2 silver. Also, while I’m on this topic, why is there a limit to how many items I can sell on the TP in a given window of time? Is it an processing limit?
Engis could get a new elite called “Call in the Hounds”. It summons 3 Pact helicopters that fly around while a bad kitten guitar solo is going on in the background. The copters do no damage, no buffs, no nothing. They just fly around looking awesome
Yes! I must have it! Also, they can use a pred strike as a finisher.

What do you guys mean? They already told us when the pre-order and the release dates are going to be. They are (drum roll please!) when it’s done.
Let’s look at your options here. For Warrior, you got Shield Bash and Shield Stance. When you use the first one, you rush and stun a single foe. The second one locks all attacks for 3 seconds. In my opinion, very single player based. Guardian has Shield of Judgment, which damages up to 5 foes and gives protection to both you and up to 5 allies, and Shield of Absorption. When used the first time, it knocks back foes and blocks projectiles n a large area for 4 seconds. If you use it a second time, you will heal up to five allies. More team based if you ask me.
Will legend swapping trigger weapon swap sigils?
Ok as we all know, right now there is one legendary for every type of weapon except great sword. Another thing we know is Anet is making more legendries in HoT. So with this said, this is what I think they should do: two new legendries for every weapon type but great sword, with one new weapon fusing with the old legendary of that type to make the 2nd new legendary, kind of like how Eternity works. What do you guys think of this idea?
(edited by Uden Reavstone.3426)
They can do what my high school did one year. The school sent everyone an email saying that we would not be allowed on campus unless we had uniforms on. Instead of uniforms, Anet can say that GW2 AND GW1 will from now on take the monthly fee method only to say “April Fools!” the next day. I can already see the hate posts and rages.
I found this by the Imperator’s Waypoint in the Black Citadel. Look next to my right hand in the picture below. Any idea on what this is?
