Nope.First you can run fresh air and celestial cause of how broken is might stacking and you will do after a while same damage as before patch (with burning ) and be a lot more tanky.
Second is the signet.It got bufed and fresh air procs it a lot more than all other builds.Its just almost as much sustain as before patch only that condies are insane and thats the only thing thats keeping it in line. I tell you right now if somehow the absurd burning goes back to before june levels ele will be far more op than it ever was

Guardians are defensive characters that bring support (boons) and have high sustain, and can trait to do nice damage too, so I do think they (the devs) have a good idea about the class.

Ele is the most OP class in the game right now. I easily go 9/10 in sPVP. You haven’t found it yet.
Turn on combat log and go back through it some time, there is a skill that will surprise you…may be a bug

It’s true. Doesnt matter how positioned you are. I am going to run up on my bunker Engi, Toss Elixir S, and then Magnet Pull you to your death without giving you the slightest chance of counter play. Then I’m going to sit on that point and bunker the hell out of it.

It’s a genuine pity and a rather distasteful that it’s locked in PvP for new players, since it can really help carry you knowing you have a “block” button just by switching to Earth. Liking it more on hybrid/damage builds than bunker.
What do you mean locked in PvP. They can use gold to buy it or if they were smarter they would have played the other half the game they bought.

Considering they gave most players a 4 month head start to get gold, I think while your argument is valid it is not an excuse.

I’m doing pretty decent with a Fresh Air 30 – 20 water – 20 arcane S/D. It’s the sixth class I’ve worked through the paces in PvP (warrior and ranger to go).
I absolutely work overtime to take advantage of positioning, terrain and teammates, especially compared to the other 5 classes I’ve used. Holding abilities in reserve to use as escapes has worked better for me than using them as all-in damage moves.
Fresh Air has no margin of error. If you pick a bad situation to fight in or flub up, you’re toast.
I actually didn’t notice any real damage nerfage last night. It seemed to me that I might even be hitting harder, but I bet that’s just because some people must have forgotten to retrait or I just ran into a lot of zerker glass last night.
Most of them dont dodge mate xD But yeah s/d still pretty much the same now with dagger main hand + celestial and might stacking they are having better results

Apparently you have to use sigil of might plus strenght runes for imba might stack and celestial amulet with signet of restoration for sustained damage, but thieves still wreck etc etc…

there’s some players that know how to survive/kill with bunker but have totally no clue how to position. I love skyhammer for the fact that it punishes these people for guessing on one horse (bunker/enemy killing), rather then truly being good at playing spvp.
It’s the Rock scissors, paper story. If the bunker builds are Rock, then skyhammer is paper.

You don’t get it do you? You can’t “outposition” when you are siting on a point either far or home, because they just get there and pull you down from stealth there is no “counter” to there there is no “skill” involved in that….

A ton of conditions proc from other attacks like bombs, grenades, crits, shattering clones etc which even if you wanted you cant dodge them all,
And last dont require any kind of special positional thinking, just stay in range and cast them, then you can even switch it up melting the rest of the team

If you read most of the complaints, those complaining do not actually even know how much damage most of the conditions are doing when compared to direct damage, or they complain about one specific skills condition duration, as if it represents conditions as a whole. Why shouldn’t they be dismissed. They were not true. 100% condition duration literally double condition damage, yet folks such as yourself make the inaccurate claim, repeatedly, that only the stat of condition damage is needed in a condition build
As far as your comment about people complaining about them, well those poster, much like yourself use inaccurate information in your argument and judgement. As well, damage comparisons showing condition skills out damaging direct damage skills, even after ferocity was added, are non-existant.
If you disagree, please, by all means, show us some damage comparisons.
Here is an example from my perspective. A warrior in all soldiers gear against an bomb engineer in all dire gear. Not only does the warrior in this case severely out damage the bomb engineer, but the warrior also gets a long AoE stun, knockdown, and knock back.
What? You can reach how much condi duration in spvp? What the hell? Nobody ran that kind of condi duration, and they were still effective do you spvp at all?
So comparing OP classes the most OP one wins? Tell me more about balance… Change that warrior to a elementalist and try again…
Ele is a bit too strong at the moment, as predicted. You should be able to perform at levels similar to or greater than what was possible back when ele was meta forever in pvp.
I think ele would have been fine with the nerfs to the other professions, and the sigil/rune changes (and maybe 1-2 small buffs). As it is now, it feels like it is too much.
And before you flame me, I have been pvping with ele for a long time. Before patch I was managing top 100 solo and teamq quite easily and consistently.
Listen to Apt, he is an actual good pvper who knows what he is talking about.
Edit: Every class is really power-creeped right now, we’ll see how it unfolds.

Comparing the rewards system of GW1 to GW2 is an insult. The reward system of GW1 was a thousand times better, you could actually make tons of gold and unlock expensive PvP skins for doing GvG.
In Guild Wars 2, you are still awarded essentially nothing the only people who benefited from this patch was PvE players.

I’m pretty sure the Dragon finisher existed BEFORE the patch. It’s not a new thing, it’s just the first time people got to dragon and could finally see it.

The only nerf to anything Ele was boon duration runes – but that’s pretty minor compared to the huge rune nerfs for other classes (Lyssa? Perplexity?) along with the ways the frustrating meta builds got dealt with.
Edit: oh, wait, sorry – and the exploit with FGS+teleport got fixed. What a shame, what a massive blow to skilful play.Ele is still kitten, and in some aspects even worse than before.

celestial on dd ele feels so crappy.. the damage is so low compared to valk+zerk ..and if i equip valk i have no crit chance.. if i equip celestial.. i have no power.. which means even when i crit its a kitten umber.. really feels like dd ele is stuck to being semi support to group fights w/ some chip damage and boons .. tbh i rather have valk w/ zerk jewel back and drop the evade on fire 3 + blast on water 3..

You are missing the point completely.
Competitive balance = equality, for instance in Counter-Strike there are no one with a stronger AWP than you, or for instance in Dota2 there are no one with a more powerful Zeus than you, or a better Rapier..
Casual balance = Based off of unlocking access to in-game equipment, for instance League of Legends where you are forced to unlock in-game content to play with the same access to in-game equipment as the professionals(not that Gw2 has pros lol), this is a time sink and only made to make people feel a false sense of accomplishment, because there’s no real accomplishment in playing 10 games to earh 3g to unlock something, it’s just a time sink.
Competitive balance is the model most suited for Gw2 since it has been this way since beta, changing it half-way through almost makes me want to get a refund for my money, because I bought Gw2 for the PVP ONLY, because it was competitively viable, something other games like AO or WoW failed horribly at, now.. Arenanet has failed as well.

Down state is fine for me. I just hate the rally system. 1 person dying shouldn’t miraculously revive 4 downed players. When you rally you already have slight invulnerability—and having all your work diminish due to 1 person’s death is pretty stupid. It’d be more challenging to have 1 person get credit for the rally and then everyone else has to either rally from another person or get ressed. This allow the other team to still finish off other opponents.
This is pretty much my opinion, downed is fine in pvp but rallying shouldnt be allowed, its a great pve mechanic when you screw up, but in spvp sucks
I disagree with it being a great PVE mechanic. All of the bosses need to have large 1 shot mechanics and SUPER high auto hits just to compensate for downed state because people never “just die”, so they have to make stuff as chaotic and as hard hitting as possible or everyone would just keep getting raised forever. If people just died bosses could be more interesting and less one-shotty.
I was actually talking about leveling, not exactly boss fight, but, you know bosses are suposed to die to players right? Pve is suposed to be easy (especially on this game)

Elementalist ofc, they are going to be immune to everything and do tons of damage (diamond skin+stone heart+mega conjures super damage (lol) and people will just afk has soon as they see one on the enemy team
