Actually NO.

The whole point of these changes is to make PvP more connected to PvE, but more importantly it is to make PvP have a decent amount of rewards when it gets release in the biggest MMO market, China.

I’m actually amazed that Skyhammer isn’t in tPvP, yet it’s in Solo que.. the map isn’t very noob friendly because positioning is absolute KEY in that map. And one trend i’ve noticed is that out of all my friends and guildies the ones that are good at positioning absolutely love the map (such as myself), yet all of those that suck at positioning (such as my best friend) absolutely despise the map and everything it stands for.

In Tournies I feel like it’d be a very good map to not only play on because you’d (hopefully) be playing with a group of competent players, but it’d also be a VERY fun map to watch and has an absolute ton of come back potential due to The Hammer and the potential to send someone into a chasm.

What class do you play master of positioning?

So basicly the ppl who will be in the best spot after this patch will be those who mostly played PvE?
As they will have the most amount of gold and gems and those are the only things you now need to get anything in PvP.

So the changes to PvP:
-Instead of getting full acces to traits, skills and amuletts etc. you now will have to pay for them in PvP.
-Instead of “Style” being tied to you progression in the rank sysem, you now can simply buy everything or use you PvE gear
-Everything achieved via PvP in the past e.g already unlocked skins, glory boosts, crafting mats will become worthless.

But at least they are fixing the meta with proper Balancing. Oh, wait…

How exactly would that be? If you are a PvP only player then these changes except for the charges to change armor wont affect you. To unlock more stuff you already get gold. These changes means more players Playing PvP which gives Anet an incentive to actually dedicate more resources to it.

This changes only negatively impacts PvP only players that decided at this very moment to suddenly start doing PvE and this amounts to it being your own kitten fault since nobody was physically stopping you from PvEing.

what the hell… what was the point in doing pve before this changes if your focus was spvp? the gold was worthless plus the skins were only unlockable by pvp….

And now all the pretty boy duncans of pve will come like heroes with their legendarys and getting stomped (or playing OP classes and roflestomp the rest)

I absolute agree with you but on this map is engi/thief/mesmer better but on other maps are warrior/thief/necro/spirit ranger/guardian better. That’s life

They just made hambow build the absolutely most telegraphed and obvious in the game. You can now literally dodge everything big the warrior is going to throw at you because its the slowest thing in the game. The bad players will just spam dodge dodge dodge and run out for absolutely not reason and get hit with everything while the good players will run circles around them.

Implying you get more dodges per second than the warrior has atacks, you dodge the first kitten he tanks you for a while and gets you on another one soon enough, you talk like you can dodge everything, and just own the warr right away…

The thing is not every class has the same access to the tools to fully utilize the uber skills of leet power, that OP is talking about.

Some classes have an obvious advantage with stuns and stability (quite hard to figure wich ones) so I supose thats is what OP and the rest of this map lovers play.

And “LOLOLOL IM SO SKILLED that kitten just went down LELELELEL”, much skill very wow indeed….

do remember that they balance the game for casual players, not competitive.

Did you play GW1? If something was wrong in GvG, they fixed it. Otherwise, it wasn’t a priority. With the e-sport community of GW2 increasing, I can’t imagine they just sit back and watch the rank 60+ teams decimate with broken builds and not concern themselves with it. I promise you… they don’t balance PvP for sPvP. They balance for tPvP.

This grandmaster traits were designed with pve in mind, dont get your hopes up that they will change them.

One of the devs even said that the mesmer one that gives distortion when you kill a target is good for pvp because “teamfights” topkek

Stun duration would actually make skills like dragon tooth hit, would be much better then the “imba” (lol) weakness, or the aegis would actually make you time your auras to avoid big hits (or not) it’s not bad either

Atleast make trait unlocks profession bound, not character bound.

The only profession I play in pve is Mesmer. The others are either lvl 2, or below lvl40. I very often reroll the lvl2 ones just for pvp, for example when I want it to be another race, or use other looks and stuff.

If I play a certain build with a new grandmaster trait, rerolling (which is a big part of my pvp experience, because I love how you have everything right from the start) would basically force me to pay more gold tounlock that trait again… Or rather, I won’t be able to reroll anymore.

Please make trait unlocks profession bound, so you only have to unlock it once, atleast in pvp :/.

Now you seem to get what this “unlocking in spvp” thing is all about…

Nothing will change unless Arenanet developers realise that they are bad players. They are not meant to be testers, this should always be done by better players. Seeing Karl dying to an PVP NPC or realising that Allie Murdock is still r14 after 1 1/2 year (no allie wvw is not pvp its zerging!) and steadily increase of rank points just confirm that these guys should not have the right to judge what is unbalanced and whats not.
Unless they not give the best players (if they are some around) the opportunity to enter the Alpha Server and let them fight until something is real balanced this game will stay dead forever.

I watched yesterdays Ready up and all it leaves is dissapointment. The new game is a simple map without a capture point….but yeah just make it as beautiful as possible because that is what pvp’ers care about…colored bushes. I remember they mentioned that making a pvp map is not that sophisticated…now they made a map were they dont even have to consider capture points. That is not a new game mode, thats just bullkitten.
And since it is bound to hotjoin nothing will change and spare your breath when you want to tell me again that there are “more things to come soon”.

Beloved developers your selfish behaviour and management decisions are the main reason why this game failed to be comptetive.

Pretty much this, they at least admited they dont know what to do regarding nerfs (look at the decap engi post) so yeah you really need to start to change the balance team and integrate more players to give feedback…

The build IS overpowered, I was saying in my previous post that people were saying “oh its not OP because it is only strong in 1v1” implying there werent any of them in spvp.

And the build is overpowered in a sense that you dont need to time coodlowns worry about positioning or anything just push things out of cooldown and the pets do the rest….

Also what’s all this bullcrap about ele getting more defensives because one, I repeat, FRIGGIN ONE skill set gets an evade when they use an ability (IE Burning speed). I feel d/d is the little skill set anet dances and only think two kitten ed skill sets exist for elementalists. Because with these buffs it feels like “If you don’t like staff, than use d/d” Like the other weapons don’t exist..

Scepter feels a lot weaker in comparison yet hasn’t received kitten. It’s not like the auto attack sucks kitten on EVERY attunement or anything. Or that Dragons tooth and shatter stone are way to slow animations that NEVER hit any player with half a brain.

No, it isn´t the death of competitive gaming. LoL, the one competitive eSport game also has an unlocking system for it´s champions. What´s import is that you unlock them by actually playing the game, that it doesn´t take long to unlock the traits you need, but to unlock every trait there is can take some time, which is a good think

Why is taking time to unlock everything you want, to be able to be competitive (on a game mode that even gives you gear plus up levels you so you can start immidiatly to play and be on equal footing) is a good thing?

It is just a map with no competitive aplication, you can just do it in custom arenas so instead of going to that fight club servers on that map (cant remember the name) you go to this one….

Those were the high level changes, meaning we didn’t get into all the details for each profession (each and every # change), each weapon, each skill, etc. We were just trying to move through a lot of info in the Ready Up, so we didn’t get down into each and every # change for every class. That would be more of a detailed list you’d expect from game release notes for a release, for example.

Some of you have asked why we haven’t focused on fixing the issues already in the game. A lot of things have been fixed, but some concerns you guys have like with PW, HS, decap engi, etc. we decided to wait and see how the new traits will affect the meta.

This does not mean that we aren’t open to adjusting them.

Ultimately, we knew we wanted to add some more traits, so we wanted to focus on trying to make those good and then we can revisit them if they are still an issue. Does that make sense?

People have been waiting for a meaningful balance patch since PAX last year , but once again you failed to provide one. There’s always some excuse why you dont deliver. This time it’s the ‘we want to see how the new traits affect the meta’
Isn’t there really any professionalism or accountability left with you guys? What on earth the balance team does when it accomplishes so little or breaks the game even more and why it is still employed?
Why would anyone think it’s a good idea to introduce new skills before fixing what is broken in the first place?

Because wvw/pve players are bored….

This changes arent really made with special focus to spvp just look at some of the new traits “on kill” etc… Just like the unlocks it’s to make players sitting in LA bank continue to play and fiddle around while they wait for new content. Not for balance pourposes.

Soloqs are all about luck. Thats pretty much it.

The biggest problem is the way that MMR works. New players can win a few lucky ones in a row and get their MMR and ranks up higher than they should be. Direct result of that are really weird and uneven matchups. So the direct opposite of what an MMR system should be doing.

A good example is a (friendly) guy i met in soloq the other day called Jace Norsd. He currently has a 21-32 record overall, while being a former top 22 (currently 900). And he was about as good as any random new player you meet if you ever do hotjoin games.

Wrong solo q is all about who runs the kitten kitten builds, bunker engi, condi wars spirit rangers. kitten game play at it’s finest

Please do not presume to speak for all players. As a PvP player, I disagree with you, and I know others that do as well.

If you want to turns this into a numbers game, please do keep in mind that the vast majority of PvP players play PvE and WvW as well. We definitely want to make the game fun and enjoyable for PvP-only players as well, but we need to keep a broader context when designing systems.

I agree with Justin. I think a lot of players are getting scared that they’ll have to actually work towards something instead of just getting it handed to them, but personally, I will enjoy having something more than just a higher ranking to work towards.

I am completely, 100% against the power imbalances with players who put tons of time in the game for gear/bonus/etc. advantages like you see in other MMOs, but I don’t think that’s what this is.

You are missing the point of spvp, that was just play when you wanted and not to have to worry about petty things like gearing up and grind new skills, you were all on equal footing

The point is, in spvp there shouldnt be ANY KIND of progression, just “plug and play” that was one of the main selling points of this game, not needing to grind whatsoever to achieve a competitive status in spvp (now you just roll warrior), simple as that.

You can put any fancy theme to it like “horisontal progression” it goes against what you guys preached in the beginning

It has an internal cooldown of 5 seconds, so when it procs from 1 regen source it doesnt from the rest, so you only lose 1 condition, but I think they will change that with the new patch

Also isnt anyone else finding the ranger trait..a joke??30 points to have your spells (that you cant aim) actually hit? Whats the point of implementing a projectile system that works by calculating enemy speed and direction and then throws the spell in a line..when you are forcing the player to use tab targetting anyway !!?..:S
And then force him to build in order to fix your designing mistake
