why? condi necros spec far in the tree that grants them crit chance,
the sigil will pretty much proc every 3 seconds taking the ele down 10%.if diamond skin was really the problem that people in this thread make it out to be then you wouldn’t be against a sigil that counters them.
i for one know that if there was a sigil that instantly counters hambows i’d slot it without question.
so diamond skin can’t really be that much of an issue if you aren’t willing to sacrifice a sigil slot to counter them.
Why? Because the sigils scale with power and a condition necro does not have power. Therefore the sigil will do pathetic damage which won’t even work in the scenario you want it to work.
So that is the answer. It doesn’t counter diamond skin or berzerkser stance.
The damage is fixed, iirc just like fire sigil
WvW you can manage since you can get crazy crits in Spvp just stay on your necro and engi

The problem is really the combination of high healing/toughness with condition damage making them pretty hard to kill and still be able to deal damage without any regards to positioning.
Example:
Engis just spaming nades or bombs on point and running around in circles…
Rangers auto atacking with short bow and wrecking you
Play warrior, see how “balanced” they are and realise how “bad” you were five minutes ago while playing an elementalist but suddenly got extremly “good”…
IMO they need to bring ele back to where they were before. The changes to ride the lighting and stun breaks hurt them badly. If ele was at the level it was a year ago no one would think they were op because every other class has gotten a lot of love in that time. I really don’t think the old ele could be considered OP in this meta and don’t see these changes to traits really giving them any upper hand.

rtl nerf was deserved…otherwise eles would reset fight everytime they want, there are other things to look at in order to improve eles…but reverting rtl is not one of those
RTL was nerfed because bads in wvw couldnt kill a bunker ele + he could run away so they whinned until it got nerfed to this kittened state while even at 2 feet distance you still get the full cooldown like you havent hit anything.
Thief can reset it all day, mesmers can reset it all day etc etc…

I agree with that, although I can’t see diamond skin getting play over stone heart.
Stone heart will not only be a great anti-burst tool, but it’ll also screw with boon and condition procs, and is found in the traitline where rock solid lies in (to use with ether renewal). It’s too good of a combo for diamond skin to compete with.
i agree that the choice will probably be made concerning the enemy lineup but there is no counterplay to diamond skin (for some builds/classes) so i would love to see it changed
also i am afraid we might see a bunker ele back in the game :/

I doubt the trait is going to see some play given it is competing with stone heart (wich actually helps against classes that kick eles kitten.

I’m rank 36 right now. This doesn’t affect me that much but rank 80 was my small dream in GW2. Now it will be so easy to get I’m not even sure if it will be worth to get or care getting
If this r55 proposal keeps going ahead, you´ll just be rank 55 in 2 weeks playing intensively (I promise) with the current rank rewards in the game (that have been raised lately).
Sadly, it won´t give you any prestige, fame, or coolness attached. You´ll just be another one amongst lots, you won´t be distinguished.

All I can say is I’m not surprised. GW2 is a casual game pure and simple. Anet needs a way to bring more people into PvP, so they make things easier to achieve. Veteran players will still play regardless, so that’s not really a focus for them. If they lose a couple of veteran players but gain a lot of new people. It’s a win for them.
Do I think it was the right choice, no. However I can’t blame them on their decision. In the long run it’s better.
It isn´t better in the long run. As soon as most experienced players keep quiting because of this, the skill cap in this game will get lower and lower as soon players keep quiting, so the game won´t be competitive enough, there will just be worse and worse players, while other games evolve on their skill ceiling (league of legends)

Veteran players wont have any way of distinguishing themselves from other rank 55s now. Or showing off their accomplishments/skills. Veteran players never played for rewards, this isn’t PvE. We want something to distinguish our skills.
Winning tournaments and owning people isnt a way to distinguish themselves? Rank was mudded by farmers anyway. Or did you lick the boots of every and any player higher rank than you? They will have the leaderboards for that.

It is a nerf aimed to the average player. The one who just spams every skill and to whose “timing a condition burst” is an alien concept.It was an overpowered trait no matter how you look at it. It doesn’t mean anything that one specific build utilized it the most.
The nerf is well-deserved, whether it’s PvP, WvW, or PvE.Overpowered? By itself the trait is quite bad, instead.
It was used only due to the condition meta. Obviously it ends up seemingly strong if no one exploits its weak point – that is, direct damage burstability due to the low hp treshhold.
The drawback was there – people just didn’t want to make use of it, and instead whined all the time.
And instead of shifting the meta, the devs made the easier choice of nerfing it to oblivion.
Also i would care to repeat – they had other choices, many of them were proposed to change it in various threads. Ones that wouldn’t have made it so useless.

Well that too. The point is we shouldn’t have to wait for perplexity to make it into PvP in order for us to “earn” a rebalancing of it in WvW. Perplexity has made a mockery of balance in that format for months already. But it seems WvW is low enough on a.net’s list of priorities that we only receive such balance fixes by power of association. It’s not until whatever the problem is messes something else up – something important enough – that they bother dealing with it.

The warrior doesnt need to dodge he just stances and becomes immune to your burst, cc and condis, while passively healing while waiting for evis to get back from the cooldown
I think some professions have benefits on diffent maps and thats ok.
I’m playing thief cls and switch a signet to scorpion wire and try to pull them at the plattforms if I’m sure that the enemies dont have a protection anymore.
In this case my class I’m able to defend it against 2 for a long time w/o any help from the cannon.
And I think this isn’t low skilled in general, because you need a lot of timing and an eye for the right moment. Engineers are quite strong too.And I also think the cannon is the biggest problem on this map. The missing ability to dodge dmg combined with a roam lock if the plattform is broken makes a fight pretty unbalanced.
It is only OK when you have the upper hand right? Makes perfect sense, that surelly makes it more competitive…
From what I understood the advantage pve players will have is more gold, because the way the wardrobe will work pvp players will actually have more skins unlocked than pve players.
So if they increase the gold rewards on spvp and dont flood these new runes + sigils right at the start , I think we can get the gold needed for them just like the rest.

And to be honest after the skyhammer farming the real spvpers couldnt care less about the rank, it didnt mean much after that point.
I was surprised that they actually made a system that actually works so that everyone that ranked up at least gets something instead of just “yeah it wasnt working so we deleted it”

To be honest: I’m not a Type-A player, but I really rock on skyhammer.I think tournament maps should always be different. This is one of the most positive aspects in this content for me.
See, why do you think you are good on skyhammer and not on the other maps? Is it because on that map you get an advantage others dont perhaps? Think about it

I don’t see how removing the jewel brings more players into pvp. The ones that play PvE/WvW already know how to customize their stats with far more options. They have jewels/multiple stat choices on the same items with all trinkets, back items, and stats on armors. I don’t see how this helps or encourages them what so ever.

The problem of this rune set is that it can’t be balanced in it’s current way. The best way to use it is to brainlessly use a chain of cc skills without even being in need of cc-ing in order to deliver your damage. If you REALLY want to implement it in pvp (which is still a terrible idea imo), make it so the confusion stacks (not more than 3 for gods sake) proc off of something MEANINGFUL, like a healing skill or an elite cast. Not just weapon skills or even auto attacks. And while you’re there, do the same thing for halting strike and distracting strikes. Reward meaningful cc. Not cc spamfest.
Well with no cast bars it’s kinda hard to see all those important casts, but yeah at least reduce to 3 stacks

No. Sadly my Elementalist build will die because of this. I will fill my need of PvP elsewhere. With the removal of jewels, it just doesn’t make me want to try. I play for diversity; I enjoy MTG because of this. Good bye. Ladderless and pointless solo roaming in WvW is now more appealing (I am not kidding at all).
Just to point out, my Staff Elementalist build wins duels, it’s not glass. It’s Celestial with a twist. Now, you are removing the “twist”. How will you convince me to play again?
Celestial amulet is getting a buff, im going to try it too this patch + the water trait nerf being reversed in pvp is going to give more resilience against the condi spam it’s going to come.

It is probably a programing decision, like the underwater weapon removal, just to make it less complicated to them to implement the new changes, otherwise it doesnt make much sense.
The rank system is/was kinda flawed (cof cof skyhammer farm), and it is true you could grind hot join for the ranks so you werent exactly “pro” by being rank X.
I think they didnt delete them completly now, just for people dont feel like they were losing all their work toawrds it.

With this release, we are adding new runes, sigils, amulets, and traits outside of the core set. The core set is always open and available to all PvP players. New runes, sigils and amulets can be unlocked for your account with gold; new traits can be unlocked for your character for gold and skill points. These items are purchased directly from the UI. If it’s locked, simply click on it to unlock it!
I thought the whole point of PvP is that everyone is on an even playing field and skill & brains rule.
The way I read this, if you want access to an actual level playing field, you’ve got to pony up some gold. That doesn’t sound….good.
You’re still on an even playing field, just because you have less build OPTIONS doesn’t mean the builds you have access to are inferior. And people have been screaming they want progression in PvP for kittening ever, Personally I was fine with how it was (join with everything) but apparently a lot of people were overwhelmed or something with PvP (which I saw a lot of my friends being that way when they first started).
Essentially what the Runes and Sigils and Amulets are doing is when you start you have access to everything we currently do, but if you want like Runes of the Pirate, or Runes of the Golemancer or Sentinel Amulet etc for a different build, you gotta pay a little gold.
That is why spvpers lose again because you dont/cant make nearly has much gold has you can in pve
I’m actually amazed that Skyhammer isn’t in tPvP, yet it’s in Solo que.. the map isn’t very noob friendly because positioning is absolute KEY in that map. And one trend i’ve noticed is that out of all my friends and guildies the ones that are good at positioning absolutely love the map (such as myself), yet all of those that suck at positioning (such as my best friend) absolutely despise the map and everything it stands for.
In Tournies I feel like it’d be a very good map to not only play on because you’d (hopefully) be playing with a group of competent players, but it’d also be a VERY fun map to watch and has an absolute ton of come back potential due to The Hammer and the potential to send someone into a chasm.
