Since 1 designer can’t really say that until they talk it over, it’d just be best to read the posts and not reply.

GW2 Still lacks a *true* questing system

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Untouch.2541

Untouch.2541

There’s a lot of this “You’re stuck in WoW thinking! Think new!” I think it’s a futile argument. The thing is as the OP says that traditional quests are gone, we all agree on that, yes?
Now, being a new revolutionizing game in itself is not a good excuse to remove something quite essential to this genre (and don’t tell me it’s not an MMORPG :p), unless you replace it with something new and revolutionizing and preferably better.

The problem here is that what they put in place instead of quests is (in the opinion of some, at least) not better, it’s actually just even more boring than traditional questing. It’s nothing to do with thinking outside the box and what not, it’s a matter of whether something is interesting and fun to play or not. Quite simple ^^

That’s actually not what people are saying, they’re saying the story and lore is there, you have to look for it.

How about giving more weapons?

Also, part of the reason is because we don’t spend enough time unerwater.
During the game we learn how to use our weapons and how to properly combo with them.

We aren’t underwater enough to learn how to use them, and as a result we (or I) find ourselves spamming buttons.

Mantra of Pain dialogue annoyance

in Mesmer

Posted by: Untouch.2541

Untouch.2541

Creating clones is the “charge time” and can only be done in combat. I’m not saying mantras are fantastic, I almost never use them. But I can see where they were going with the idea and with a few tweaks they might actually be viable. Pretty sure this is off topic though.

I’ve never been bothered by the dialogue, mostly because I always forget to prepare the spell so I only hear it once in a while.. or in the middle of combat when I accidentally press that button when the charges are gone.

Actually I use illusionary persona so I don’t even need clones.

We'd like to say it's been fun, but really it hasn't.

I don’t these people have played a game that’s been genuinely ruined by this system.

See: Dungeon Defenders

Trendy added a MASSIVE gear treadmill, bordering on korean MMO grind. When the game first came out, you could finish it by just playing, no grind needed.

Then they added nightmare and mythical, which wasn’t bad.
Then transcendent which took an absolutely massive amount of time to get (I’m talking 12+ hours playing straight, you can’t take breaks either, it has to be in one sitting).
They didn’t even stop there, 2 more rarity levels, it’s ridiculous.

So yeah, not buying it. Gear grind lost them a sale.

This type of thing from this community (not all a good number) gets more and more disturbing every day. It’s borderline nuts, delusional atleast.

The attempt to redefine every standard that GW2 does not meet (When suggestions could be made to bring it up to standards in certain section) is disgusting.

Are football players trained to gain yards? wtf?

The core concept of MMOs are not imaginary endgame “progression”.
This was a concept designed to drag content on and keep people subbing.

It’s been drilled so hard into the genre that people think that not only is it beneficial, but a game needs it.

MMORPG = MMO RPG
Name me an RPG with this system, no diablo doesn’t have it.
The only game that comes close that I know of is dungeon defenders, and WOW that ruined the game!

GvG and GuildHall comming to GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I would really like to see GvG in GW2..after all it is GUILD WARS. I was rather shocked it wasn’t the cornerstone, WvW can’t really make up for it.

I also miss the old spectator mode thing from GW1 (stopped playing 5 years ago with the release of EotN so I can’t remember that mode’s actual name). I would like to see GvG return and a spectator mode for GvG and sPvP.

We’re getting spectator, they said that AGES ago.

Correction : Its not that “you dont need gear/ranks to see content” the truth is there is no content. You grind boring dungeons, you look fancy and game is over.
If you wanna look fancy, visit Prada.

How is this any different than WoW?
WoW the gear doesn’t even matter, you get welfare epics, so all that grind you did was pointless, you’re not progressing at all.

I’d be fine if the prices of the waypoints varied on usage.

Usage increases, the price increases. Usage decreases, the price decreases.

Let the populations willingness to use and pay determine the price.

Then kitten would get a bunch of money and hop between points and jack the price up.

Untouch.2541

Hear me out, I don’t want them to be strictly solo content.
As it stands, pubbing explorables is pretty hard, you need coordination.
Which is fine, that’s not the problem.

The problem is, if you don’t have a guild that designates itself to these dungeons, you’re left in the dust.
You could use the scaling system for this, and generally, even WITH the scaling system less people = harder.

Soloing would be harder, but someone who wants to try dungeons without a guild would have the opportunity.

Wasn’t this why henchies were added to GW1 anyways?

Untouch.2541

It’s not progression.

Stop calling it that.
Levelling is progression, you gain new stuff, new skills.

Endgame is endgame, you don’t move at all, it’s just a way to artificially make the content last longer.
The proper term is “content barricade”.

Thanks.

No wanting the story to continue is wanting some form of progression it is not a content barricade. Why is it nobody has a problem with how grindy it is to get new skins for weapons but the second someone mentions slightly better loot they get flamed?

I have no problem with PvP progression at the moment, I really like how everyone has pretty much the same gear. In PvE it would be nice to have more story line that comes out with slightly better gear ( No this does not have to mean they are huge upgrades that cause vast power creep issues).

It is also not an mmo thing it’s from of rpg games. If the story line remains at the same difficulty throughout the entire game and the pc remains at the same power level for the entire game the game becomes boring really quickly. The story line needs to progress and the player needs to feel as if they are getting stronger for completing more difficult content.

Not sure what’s stopping them from adding new story content.
I know the story “ends” after you kill Zaihtan, but the end mission explicitly states tat it isn’t finished.

Yahtzee reviews Guild Wars 2

Untouch.2541

Pretty typical for Yahtzee. I think he gets upset that every game he plays isn’t Psychonauts.

I don’t get his objection to a lack of story of purpose or however he put it. I felt much more “connected to my journey” in GW2 than any other MMO.

But, alas, everyone has their thing.

Likely due to his loathing of most mmo’s he didn’t get very far into it lol.

Yahtzee never gets far into any game, he stopped playing MH:Tri during the tutorial and decided that was a fair point to review it.
