An Idea for Banners

in Warrior

Posted by: Ven Zehn.6573

Ven Zehn.6573

So.. I personally don’t like having to pick up and move banners, though their buffs n party wide benefits are great.

So what if, just an idea, banners were mobile, as in: you summon a little asura that carries a banner, and follows you, immune to dmg and what not, because we don’t condone killing progeny.

And maybe, one banner can also provide pulses of stability, perhaps banner of defense.

However, since they’d be mobile, maybe make the area of effect a little smaller?

I mostly just want a bunch of asura following me.

It depends on which backpiece you chose in the first chapter, so if I choose Priory backpiece, i’ll get the priory based straps and such when I complete the quests.
That’s how it’s worked for the 2 characters ive taken through HoT completely.

I have seen selected pieces of armour I have enjoyed, but never bought them. Why?..because they are an outfit that can’t be mixed and matched.

I am confident I am not the only one who feels this way. I don’t mind spending money on things I like. It is nice to have nice things so-to-speak.

Hope this feedback helps. I’d rather buy an arnour appearance set that can be mixed and matched for 700 gem, rather an outfit, 5 dyes I already have and a glider appearance I don’t care about for 2000 gems.

Yep, I really like the chest piece for female humanoid characters, but the rest of it ruins it for me (the blades specifically), but I would buy the whole armor set just for that lol

A lot of things go through block where as I don’t think anything can affect you while you evade.

Top 2 things I’d really want:

-Adren degen definitely needs work, either slower degen, or let it generate faster, If I don’t use any skills or traits, and just smack something, it can take quite a while to build up enough adren to be useful (especially for berserker)

-Baseline Piercing for rifle would be nice, considering if you want that you lose a far more important trait currently (imo)

However chopping down trees with herrings….. or, kill the Killer Rabbit of Caer Bannog with a wooden sword (or a grenade made from angel tears)… these would be stories to tell your ingame children.

How much fun anet could have had making these, and how fun these journeys could have been.

Honestly the collections for the 3 pre steps weren’t bad, aside from the time gate.

Well, maybe the cost of getting the balls of dark energy, but hey, this is a legendary, and it will be somewhat more unique than all the weaps, at least for a while.
Pretty sure cost is still no where near making a legendary weapon of any kind.

There have been some issues that annoyed me, but not deal breakers for me.

Mixed Skins

Don’t think that’ll happen for shield, unless anet redoes the programming for that specific issue.

However, I do agree with the idea of weap skins that really change the look, like a GS that looks like a great axe, or a hammer that looks like a stick. Kind of like how we have daggers that are broken bottles.

The Only One?

Ven Zehn.6573

I see, so every player who hasn’t beat me on my war is bad, makes sense.
But there’s this issue where you think the only pvp warrior that has been and ever will be is zerker/marauder.
I still recall running as a celestial ele when everyone said they were worthless despite my success on it.

As far as the competitive pro leagues, pro players will choose to take any and all advantages they can because it is that competitive, and I agree that other classes currently have greater advantages (which I personally believe to be unbalanced and hope anet does something), but those alone just give them an edge, one that I don’t need.
But to say warriors are in the worst and incapable of being awesome…. when I and many others easily roll face with wars, makes me wonder what people are doing with their wars.

Lastly, some of you keep pulling in Pro pvper’s for your arguments, if I’m a college level math student, of course I’d probably get schooled in a math competition against a doctorate. But in my matches, I’m playing against people of my skill level I believe for the most part, on average, and I do well.
(Maybe you should ask one of those pro players to make a war build and see how they do with it)

So what IS the point of precursor crafting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ven Zehn.6573

Ven Zehn.6573

What I originally thought precursor crafting would be like:

1 – get a base weapon, maybe a unique crafted item, comparable in cost to any standard crafted exotic, or more expensive, cost here doesn’t matter

2 – Apply various things to weap, to temper it, to strengthen it, to improve it
a – Maybe you need the waters from some specific place combined with ore’s that have been imbued with magic. (Maybe you have to have said ore and you have to put it into lava, several times, gated by time, because you do it too often too fast and the blade will shatter)

3 – Carry this weapon with you, doin various events or dungeons or fractals, or killing world bosses, further imbuing it with magical power. (anyone read the manga Berserk? where Guts’ sword has become imbued with power from all that he has killed?)
Maybe get struck by lighting several times for zap lol.

Imagine having to kill Zhaitan with a lvl 10 greatsword, that’d kind of be hilarious and awesome to me.

4 – and so on…..

Something like what we did to make Mawdrey, or the Black Moa Chick in GW1, but on a more grand, legendary scale.
Sure, there should be costs, there should be time invested, and maybe it still would cost a lot even with this method, maybe to smother the weapon with melted ectoplasm or something.
But to cost as much as buying outright + the time invested… because time “should” equal money… that doesn’t make much sense.

To make a real life example: Cleaning your house – costs a little money for supplies and the rest is time spent, OR hire people, you go n do your thing elsewhere, come back home and your house is clean for $100.
With Precursor crafting, you’re cleaning your house yourself and buying all the cleaning tools and what not for $100, to clean it once. Because you only buy things in travel size when you clean, who buys bulk anymore???

I’ve seen plenty of wars in all HoT maps, I don’t know if they’re all doing well or not but they’re there.
As for pvp, I usually do unranked and HJ, and yes, I do run into a good number of people who don’t play their classes well, or perhaps they’ve forgotten how to counter a warrior since so few of us exist apparently. But, I’ve run into plenty pretty good players, as does happen in a game mode like pvp. I’m usually among the top scores, and I don’t find myself any more disadvantaged than playing my other classes (Ele, guard, mes, ran).

So, all I’ve been seeing in the warrior thread is how underpowered or useless their warriors are, and I’m here to say that I still think my war is solid in all aspects of the game, and does well in all aspects. And I’m wondering if there are any others out there who think the same?

I deleted my first war when she hit her 3rd bday, and remade her a few months after. Gave her my guardians spare set of ascended armor, which was a soldier’s set for WvW. Had plenty of zerk trinkets n such so those were no big deal, and had a few weap boxes so made a hammer and sword, also zerk.
With those, I’ve run around solo through HoT and through fractals, and have had a blast.
In pvp, I was a little wary since I did feel war was a bit underpowered compared to what they were. But… few matches go by, and I’m still rocking face, the only players able to effectively shut me down are pure condi, and those are easy to get away from usually. But even when I do stick to and fight, knowing how disadvantaged I am in that fight, I still do quite well. Many times I’ve fought against great odds, whether being outnumbered and/or being “outclassed” and still putting up quite a fight. And theyre fun fights.

Maybe I’m a little weird though, I don’t like running classes/builds that are considered OP as much, I like fighting against the odds.

Anyway, my ramble is kind of over, I just want to leave you guys with some advice, for those who feel like they can’t do as much with their wars, try something different with your wars, I didn’t think switching up my full zerk build for a hybrid soldier’s/zerk build would work quite as well as it has, but it has kept me playing my war.

PS – I still run core war in pvp, but pve I’ve been liking Berserker a lot, and might start tryin it in pvp some day. And it always feels good winning against DH’s, Chronos, DD’s, etc

Moa and the Breakbars

Ven Zehn.6573

Id say any situation now when you need time warp, you also need to break a bar, so moa does seem a lot better, at least to swap to for big boss fights.
It’s amazing how some bars barely budge even with full F3 and double gravity well, but Moa just crushes it.
And keep in mind, mobs are more vulnerable to dmg with a broken bar.

I know, but you don’t get the map rewards once the map rank reaches the end of tier 3 I think it was, which is like 15 leyline crystals every 10-15 min or so, the bouncy chest.

The events themselves don’t give as many crystals, if at all iirc, almost all crystals come from RNG loot, and map rewards for each step of tier completion.

Tangled Depths does not award enough Crystals

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Ven Zehn.6573

You don’t need a full map to do events, and even if the Gerent event fails you should be getting 75 crystals as a map reward when gerent starts on top of all the other sources. Assuming you actually get 200% participation. If I start from some time after gerent ends, I can usually get over 250 crystals in an hour or so.

Only thing I don’t like is the long lull between completing all events, getting 200%, and waiting an hour for gerent to start.

So that kind of narrows down our choices I’d imagine, no sylvari for now just because of potential dissidence. I do think some or maybe all of Destiny’s Edge have a good chance, why have 1 leader if we can have a council?

Warrior beating Mesmer

In the past, and somewhat now, I’ve found one of the best ways for dealing with mesmers is a lot of aoe dmg, aoe stuns, etc. And knowing when to avoid their incoming spikes. Is it perfect? no, but it’s a start.

Hammer stuns and aoes are great, especially if the mes stays close to his clones/phantasms, just be ready to dodge out.

Phase Retreat can save them against stunlock though, so try to watch for that and don’t burn all yer attacks in one go if you think you have em locked down.

The Uncategorized Fractal is Rata Sum

in Lore

Posted by: Ven Zehn.6573

Ven Zehn.6573

A little late to the topic, but I’ve always assumed that this was the precursor to Rata Sum.

That Dessa seems to know of it, and maybe even know of the Asura in there, it should be relatively recent.
My guess is that when the Asura first set about making a new city, they decided, what better way to show off their intellect and power, by having a gigantic floating city.
However the reactor, the power that would be needed to keep the city afloat, would have to be insanely powerful. And perhaps something happened causing the containment for that reactor to malfunction, thus, “Breach!”
This would fall in line with the other fractals as well, where a large gathering of magic energy occurred, thus locking it in time.
And for abandonment, I’d imagine the Asura not on there, for the sake of their own safety, decided to shut down any gates going to the Rata.

Also, the golems are of recent design, not sure if that’s intentional, but we do know the golem designs changed radically between GW1 and GW2.

Ven Zehn.6573

Our BL maps didn’t have queues primarily due to the lag, not that people didn’t like them, seems the central event causes insane lag for some reason.

I, and many of my friends, love the new maps, but the combat is what kills it. Stability being stripped off the entire frontline the moment it goes up among other things. But then again, maybe we just need to fully shift to a different playstyle to counter it.
