I agree with you Dano, I enjoy playing both front and backline, but the way stability works now, frontline can’t do much without burning through cooldowns the way we used to be able to play. People have been running their backlines more than their frontline just cuz it’s a lot easier to stand back n drop your aoe’s:/

But on the other hand, you learn to cope, change your builds, change your tactics. I’ve found it to still be fun with my frontline, but it’s a lot riskier.

OP isn’t arguing about how effective his thief is, he’s arguing about targeting mechanics concerning walls……

Change “thief” to “ele” if that’ll help you understand him more.

The new HoT maps are apparently trying to resolve some of these issues though, so give it a month and we’ll see if it’s any different.

Find a couple friends you enjoy playing with, that play the way you want, and do the run, if pugs come, they have to do it the legit way. And gods willing, they’ll realize how much faster it can be, and how much better it is overall.

My friends and I do get those who complain about not letting mai die n such, but they still go with it because they know we’re better than most pug groups they’ll find.

Actually the opposite of PUGlife/lfg lol, but I think it’s comparable to a bad pug:D

Ran a CoE P1 (I think, with the 1-4, been a while, if I got the path wrong lol)

I decided to take guildies in a WvW focused guild through CoE, with only 1 of them having never done it before. And one of them, thinks he knows everything and is super experienced.

We get to the 1-4 room, and I ask them “1-4 good for you guys?” no real response, and I’m explaining it for the guildie who was new to the dungeon. I think all is good, so we go.

I’m defending, and watching my guildies… n we get the 1 done, I tell them to stack on the side, 2 of em stack with me while the experienced guy and another are running around fighting… I’m like, whatever, so I go out n kill the rest, and tell them I’m defending, and for all 4 to get on the console.

They’re all still fighting, and I’m trying to get them to get on the console to count down. The experienced guy… was ignoring that and activated “2” without the rest of us…… so we defend again. At this point, I’m thinking wth is wrong with this guy. I then tell them we’ll just have 2 defend and 3 activate…. again the experience guy goes and does “3”…… Goes on like this for every wave and I’ve stopped trying to explain it.

And after all that, I explain to them again, in chat, what 1-4 means, one of the guys is like “yea, not sure why we didn’t do it that way”

While the experienced guy is like “This is how I always do it, it’s the fastest way”

So yea, we basically did it the way Anet probably intended for us.. lol

Suffice it to say, I never take certain guildies on runs anymore…

Yea, right now I think T2/T3 servers might swap places a bit, not sure how many guilds are moving around. T1 is still pretty stable, even with YB entering the fray, will see how stable YB is.

I intend to try them, and see if I can make anything better than what I have, but to avoid trying new things just because you think what you have is the best ever, is just hurting yourself.
At least until someone puts up a build on Meta and everyone is like “OMG Such OP”
Or, someone else is able to destroy you with something from the new specs.
Not saying it will happen, but anything is possible.

If nothing from the specs improves upon, or gives me other options as to how to run my characters, then I’ll probably stick to what I have.

I’d personally wait till HoT, but you’ll still probably want to stick to t1/t2 for those timezones.
You want to have people on your server at those times, but you also want to have enemies at those times right? Those times are around when NA is dropping off a little bit lately, though this will change with HoT maps i’d imagine. The new maps should promote more small group activity as opposed to large zergs.

And while it gets tiring fighting blobs constantly, sometimes I find it quite fun, a change of pace as you will. I mean, 15v15 is fun too, but gets repetitive as well.

HoT changes will get more people into wvw in all servers, for a while. But generally, most wvw’ers have gone to t1/t2, those who have left t1/t2 tend to be “fight” focused, and will probably just do gvg’s for the most part. /speculation

In my view, the 6 gods are just powerful entities, similar to the dragons, or norn spirits, the races just choose which they will worship/revere, and in return receive boons/power from them. Whether or not my human character believes in the norn spirits as godly beings or not, does not affect their existence or power.

As far as Melandru choosing to help non-humans… I doubt any aside from the mortal realm have issues with helping outside their designated race. Melandru and the other gods might see this as an opportunity to regain some of their lost power, and try to fight back against these dragons, which they had always thought unkillable before. But now, one of those dragons has been defeated.

On another note, doesn’t necessarily have to be Melandru, I just believe some power is needed to help the sylvari, and Melandru just fits the bill more than other sources:)

BG shouldn’t be completely full at the moment, a few guilds left, however the server has been locked for quite a while, not sure when they’ll be removing said lock (all the T1 servers are I believe)

We’ve had a few join our guild from other servers just before the lock, just have to wait for off hours to try to enter.

Hmm, another thought, the Pale Tree and similar trees are bound to Mordremoth’s magic right? So if we defeat Mord, what will support the trees?

In Zhaitan’s case, his minions are apparently still there, but are slowly going away gradually, i.e. no new ones are being created and the ones still in existence get destroyed.

So for the trees, would they still be able to produce more sylvari? Unless another source of magic can replace the dragon magic?

Your main dmg isn’t from the auto, the auto is more of just something to do while your skills are on cooldown and yer attunements are on cooldown, which isn’t too long.

In melee range, one of my favs is dropping ring of fire, dropping a dragon tooth and phoenix, if the get out, u still get might, if they stay in… well, fun times lol

kinda of funny tho, back when celestial was introduced, a few of us were like “this could be amazing for ele”… we were for the most part shot down, being told that not min/maxing stats is noob… lol (sry, just wanted to put in an “i told you so”)

But yes, cele synergizes very well with ele, the only thing I could think of to nerf it without killing it is perhaps reducing the stats a bit, cant think of anything else that wouldn’t be too much of a nerf, that would affect every other class.

But then again, I run into op classes of all sorts that I could consider op.

My only question is, is D/D really that powerful? or is it that some people who are particularly good at it make it seem powerful?
I’ve run ele since start, so I don’t know how difficult it is coming from another class, it practically feels second nature to me.

Have people who main’d other classes, switched over to ele, and had an easy time learning and playing it? or is it practically a faceroll for people?

Not saying the sylvari will ask for help, I’m saying the players themselves, through a quest, maybe due to hints from rytlock, and try to find a way to contact some of the gods, in this case melandru, because her magic might be similar to mord’s. And perhaps all she’ll be able to do is interrupt mord’s influence over the sylvari.

As far as the likelihood of not reappearing? Who knows, I’d be bummed if they never did.
Think of it like one of the nightfall missions, where we had to channel all the human gods to help fight against shiro/lich.

One of the reasons I thought of this, is due to the fear of sylvari that is developing, and I believe our characters will have to find some way to remove or at least alleviate that fear for the greater populous.

Yea, but the gods do exist even if the other races don’t consider them gods, else, we wouldn’t have fought abaddon n such.
As far as the non-interference, I think part of the quest would be persuading Melandru that they, along with all the races, working together, have an even better chance at defeating the dragons.

I personally might have the bunker sit at mid n cover supplies, or maybe just outside of it toward the enemy spawn, or maybe run with the champ, because as long as a player is there, it wont be as easy for the enemy to take out the champ

I watched a LoL championship game where a guy was using a support class quite offensively, was that what the class was meant for? Was he effective?

Experiment with things, you don’t have to force yourself into a role.

Remember those rpgs, where if yer main character died, you have to load from your last save… hopefully you saved pretty recently lol

A good bunker doesn’t necessarily have to sit in one spot. There are other strategies you can use as a bunker other than sitting there and taking hits.

“Bunker” is something the community created, so why would anet have to cater to that creation?

I enjoy it, it offers more of a lot of the things that I personally like.
Updated fractals (even if no new fracs are added yet)
Updated classes via the specs (some are good, some aren’t, but then, some of us like ele most n some of us like war most, it’s pretty subjective)
Updated and improved (imo) wvw maps, we’ll see how it goes once the ball really gets going with wvw on those
Guild halls, which seem to be adding some cool stuff

Frankly, if you’ve enjoyed GW2 so far, why would you think HoT won’t be worth supporting Anet?

With GW1 and all of its expansions and EotN, I feel they improved on things every time for the most part, the game by the time EotN came, was quite different from when Prophecies first started, and for me, it was better. Even if there were some things we could gripe about, overall, Anet did well enough to have my trust.

Oh didn’t realize soft cc worked as well, was 1v1’ing a guildie, n thought I had to use a hard cc to do any appreciable damage to the defiance bar

Yea, and thinking about it more, removing the anvil or not does very little, if it was gone, people would find ways around it.

As for the orb, yea, pretty useless in general, unless the whole party wipes, in an area that is difficult to get to, and someone orbs to rez everyone, that’s the only sort of instance where orbs would have use.
But in the middle of a fight, unless you die away from the damage, the orbs won’t do much.

Well.. This changes things quite a bit.

Yea, but you cant get into the foyer once you’re in a fractal instance, you have to leave the fractal completely, by going to the log screen, and repairing in LA before re-entering.

But… the larger guilds will be able to get the buffs quicker, more easily, and benefit the map as a whole faster, as every person on that map will benefit.
The larger guild tend to be the ones that roamers gather to when needed, and the small roamer groups will usually (ideally) report to the larger groups on the map (again, this is ideally).
So, while it would be nice for each person, each small guild to also be able to claim and such, wouldn’t it be better to let the groups able to build up buffs faster claim things? for the sake of everyone that will benefit from said buffs?

I mean, let’s say a 2man guild can claim a spot, great, they have a few buffs they can put on for themselves, and they have 2 members that can contribute to the expansion of those buffs? How long would that take, compared to a 10man guild? a 40man guild?

If this were a group project, you would delegate the jobs to the people who can perform them best for the benefit of the whole right? In this case, the larger guilds can produce the most in the shortest time for the objectives, while the smaller roam groups, can roam, and not worry about upgrading, can scout and fight, without having to run back to the tower they claimed.

You make good points about keeping the anvil Zaith, but on the other hand, not everyone will have multiple sets (though apparently we should in case some areas need more toughness as they noted), and the overall feeling that “Yes.. we can fail this completely” will push players to play harder, to work together better, to actively find solutions to problems, without just throwing bodies at it.

I rarely ever saw people using orbs in fractals, my friends n I run 50’s in about 40min average, have never needed orbs and we avoid doing things like letting ellen kiel die in the mai trin fight or doing underwater moss.
We will however stack the molten zerker to see if we can finish it faster than before:D

This could be interesting indeed, and we might need a designated rezzer for the first many runs:D (Super tanky thief perhaps?)

But yes, I would love the removal of the anvils as well, as others have said, it creates an actual “Game Over” situation, which frankly isn’t possible anywhere else.

Was thinking about the sylvari and their corruption, we know that proximity affects it, as well as the Pale Tree (who is weakened), so even those with high mental fortitude could potentially fall if near enough to Mord… so how will our sylvari characters be able to fight?

Then I thought, what a good way to pull in the 6 gods?
What if, we are guided toward Melandru, in order to see if 1) she still exists and responds to the mortal realm, and 2) if she might be able to exert some sort of influence on the corruption side, thereby providing an amount of protection for the sylvari?

Just a random thought, and one I think might be kind of cool:)

Stats are the same as anything you can get anywhere else, the only thing you don’t get is a skin…..
Only those who did WvW can get the mistforge weaps (even if they only did a little bit)
Only those who do Fractals can get Fractal skins…

Where is the q.q for those??

Do the thing that gives the reward you want, not that hard of a concept.

As far as casual players that don’t want to put in as much effort? Join a guild who does em, and let em carry you. How long they’d be willing to carry is another question.
(Next we’ll have people who won’t learn the raids complaining when people ask them to do a certain build or carry a certain weapon)

My guild originally came from DH, and we had some fun times in wvw there, back before people knew what a guard line was and such:D We left while transfers were free due to a lot of the other wvw guilds looking for more wvw focused servers, hoping to be more competitive.
We ended up in BG (tried CD but that wasn’t quite what we wanted) before server transfers started having a cost, and I’ve personally enjoyed it quite a bit. It has been a good community to me, though the guild I’m in has always been a little more fun oriented.

Every server will have their bad apples, some will have louder apples, so you see it more readily, but ever server has good apples, just gotta find em:)

My only suggestion: Find the guild with likeminded people, that you enjoy playing with and talking to, and you will find the server you want to be part of.

I’ve run S/D since forever, and the new traits make it even more glorious:D

I’ve 1v2’ed a pair od D/D’s, and won, though I think one of em wasn’t so used to D/D.
I’ve dueled my guild’s top D/D, and we were at a stalemate for quite a while, until I let his burns eat through me (I may have gotten complacent as the fight went on lol)

I run Blinding Ashes though, which is super helpful in fighting those peskier classes like rangers. I haven’t run into too many that I had notable trouble against with my build aside from good thieves.
I can easily stand and fight against Lich Form and Rampage Wars (not sure if that’s a feat or not, I just see people complain a lot about em:D)

I was gonna use the Guild Pillar, pretty much a flat blade on a stick, but I think I’ll be using the Kodan Staff on my asura. It’s big and hefty, and doesn’t look like it’d break on impact.

This backpiece is pretty much another “Fractal” skin, like all of the weapons, the stats are no different from ascended gear. There will be other legendary pieces in time, so if you don’t want to do fractals, wait for another.
Just as not everyone bothers with the current legendaries.

I have full zerk trinkets, and a set of cele (asc) armor and a set of zerk (exo). Due to the trinkets, my power loss with celestial isn’t too bad, but I still like having the zerk set when i want the highest dps I can output, like in dungeons or running with my guild in wvw.
In dungeons, it’s particularly easy to run full zerk if you know the mechanics of the fights, and can avoid getting hit more easily. But, it’s not as forgiving, so if you do get hit, u feel it a lot more, and u can’t recover as quickly (heals) compared to celestial.

I always thought Anet would add something like that in LA, there was a little “arena” that would have been perfect for it. Almost polymock style, but would be 1 on 1 combat, u pick your mini, become that mini in the arena, and fight with the mini’s skillset.

I enjoyed the orbs, aside from the hacking, we would actually have a reason aside from PPT to defend or attack particular keeps for one, and escorting the orb was quite fun some times as well.

+1 for this, been hoping Anet would look into this.

Personally I don’t see anyway people could profit off buying wvw gear to salvage (dungeon gear would be more economical time-wise, and u get a few silver from the runes), and even in the rare cases where someone just has so many badges that they don’t know what to do with em, those people deserve to be able to do something with those badges:)
As for extractors, yes, only possible thing I could think of worth using them on would be very high level agony infusions.

Warrior Shield Reflect no longer working?

I run sword/shield on my warrior, and use the trait for reflecting projectiles. Ever since this new patch came out, I’ve noticed that projectiles aren’t getting reflected, primarily while in fractals. Ooze projectiles and harpy projectiles that had always been reflected now seem to just be getting blocked.

Anyone else notice this?
