Not saying it’s ideal, but not every premade is good either, just play your best no matter the hand you’re dealt.
Like Chinese poker, a bad hand played well can beat a good hand:) not the best metaphor but hey.. lol
If they’re good, then the 3/4 player team will move beyond your tier soon enough, if not, well, doesn’t really matter.
Or at least be a Blast Finisher…..
Hammer Primal Burst is pretty solid imo, large area effect, immob, daze, and blast finisher…. by far one of my fav bursts. (Compared to crap like sword burst….)
Plus immob removal if you have the trait.
The only issue with it might be the fact that it’s a directional skill, the attack goes forth from where you land, as opposed to a circle aoe around you, so if you use it incorrectly, you miss.
Yea for the most part I just ignore it now, unless I know the map I’m in has nothing.
The Aetherblade sets, as well as a few others, were made long before Anet decided to only do costumes for gemstore skins.
It’s not a costume, the Aetherblade sets are actual armor skins.
Your match record will tell you if it was an unranked or ranked match I think.
The release notes stated a win = a pip, and I don’t think it’s affected by personal score.
Also, even if there’s a d/c, I think only the losing team would really be affected pip-wise (no pip loss if d/c is on your team)
I’d say warriors are the ideal for melee combat. Relying on your timing, your counters, you movement above all else to win the fight. And with good usage of those, you can deal with those who, ability-wise, should be superior to you.
Always love taking out meta classes on my war, it’s a lot more satisfying, knowing you brought your knife to a gunfight, and won:D
I used tomes to make new 80’s, took em through the storyline getting Chak skins, Auric skins, n leystone armors, with my primary goal being the armors.
Didn’t actually take too long that way, had to craft a few still but was faster than getting all the Chak skins.
I deleted the chars that I made for this purpose, so didn’t need to worry about slots, though I’m sure a lot of people don’t have a free slot to do this.
4 African Swallows, attached by rope……
If they decided to add it as a rare drop, I could see them coming from Fractals, except now it’d be too easy to just farm the molten bosses and experimental weapons fractal.
And I doubt players would want more skins coming only from fractals.
As far as re-releasing em for tickets, most other skins that were re-released in the past were done so in relation to some event I think, like chaos/tormented weaps were re-released together with something (I forgot what, and the relation was loose at best lol)
So maybe, if a new living story chapter brings back something related to Scarlet and the Molten Alliance.. perhaps sifting through old research, finding an old lab, where we accidentally release a champion, all in hopes of finding more “weaknesses” or something.
Kodan staff is quite nice imo (Like a large spear/halberd), as well as the Guild Pillar, Lightward Battlestaff is amazing, but quite pricy.
And of course there’s Bo.
I was able to get a little over half via pods/tower events, but after a little while all I got were repeats. I ended up completing the story on quite a few characters to get the rest (using tomes to make more 80’s just for this…). Only plus side to that was getting a lot of Chak and Auric weapon skins unlocked as well.
Honestly though, I think Personal Pony sounds a lot more offensive than Stalker lol, like “Hey, I’ll be your pony, baby….”
And I don’t consider stalker offensive at all, maybe you killed someone in pvp n they reported you?
Are you sure you just didn’t get drunk one night, or maybe someone else logged onto your account to prank you? Check your Black Lion purchase history (you can see it ingame) and see if a name change contract or wedding bundle were purchased recently.
“I would love to use a utility skill in place of one of my elites”
- Every Ele ever!
Pretty much this since beta lol…..
I was thinking it’d be nice to be able to buy dungeon specific decorations with tokens. Would really get guilds into running em as well.
Yea, joining something like DS, having it start failing, then tagging up n bringing it to completion despite all the naysayers feels pretty good too:D
Broomstick……….
The very first TD kill I had (3rd week of HoT I think?), had so many close attempts before, n finally we get it with a full pug map, felt pretty awesome. Was also on the first ever Teq kill, also pretty awesome (which makes me so sad that it’s now a faceroll boss again).
Those few pvp matches in ranked where your full pug team goes against a full guild team, and you pull off the win by a hair’s breadth.
Or taking a T3 keep filled with siege and protected by a map blob (preHoT), haven’t really had comparable fights in wvw lately.
The times where you’re pulling out all the stops, and hoping your allies are doing the same, but even then you have the potential for failure in the back of your mind, that I feel to be most fun.
Yea, I was thinking arcane for the additional burns, basically choosing between a more powerful Signet of Fire and +100 condi damage, or turning all Arcane skills into additional burns, as well as increased revive speed (most other Arcane benefits are from attunement swapping, which I don’t think will be done often with this build).
At least that’s what I’m assuming you’d want from arcane.
I think Arcane might be better if you took Arcane Brilliance as a heal over the shout, but with the shout, I can heal my allies as well.
With a traited Signet of Fire, you can put 2 stacks of 20s burns on every 16s, with improved crit chance. So I still think Earth is a better option than Arcane.
As for pyromancer’s training, wasn’t sure how important that would be, since the build would already have a lot of other sources of burn, not just from the weapon skills. But I do agree here, just wasn’t sure which would be better overall.
As far as requiring the target to be stationary? Only the ring of fire and fire overload are affected by that really, all the other burn skills are on target or perhaps Dragon Tooth, but that’s easy enough to aim for the most part.
Also, I also would prefer going power, but… just in case you’re having trouble finding another condi, or just another way to make Elems super versatile, this option might be here for us as well.
Also, does the direct damage modifier affect condi’s? (Harmonius Conduit?)
Also, does Sigil of Earth add much condi damage? So would that be better than Sigil of Bursting?
(edited by Ven Zehn.6573)
Burn pretty much the only effective damage condi an ele would be using, so if you can get higher condi damage, with 100% burn, using balths runes and a different set of condi gear, it’d be better in general imo, than using vipers.
I mean, the build I set up has 100% burn duration and 2185 condi damage, and 2055 power.
The other build someone posted with vipers is 91.5% duration and 1710 condi damage, and 2268 power.
Both including food/utility buffs.
And just using the signet of fire for comparison’s sake, mine can do 18,800 burn dmg over 20s, where the viper build is 15,000 over 20s.
Vipers has lower overall condi damage, and the main benefit to it is boosting all outgoing condi’s a class would use, wars get burn and bleed, others get those plus poison.
Hmmm, I should just setup a pvp build real quick n use dummies, to compare my war vs my ele, to see which I can get the most sustained dmg from lol. Will do so tonight.
(edited by Ven Zehn.6573)
Yea, I’d prefer not having a 3rd set of gear cluttering my inv, just wondering if it could potentially be better than other classes.
Anet has no reason to touch things like skins.
Everyone selling things by undercutting, especially by a lot, hope for a quick sale, but if doesn’t sell quickly, more people will undercut in time.
Yea, though luckily if you bought skins n such at their lowest prices, you can still profit now, just not nearly as much as before.
Hi, since my burnzerker no longer has broken mechanics (I.e. no reason to HAVE to take it, lol), maybe my ele could be used in this role.
I’m wondering if anyone has tried running a burn ele in raids and if it’s effective? I think the main problem ele might run into with going condi, is that burn is really their only effective condi that they can keep up (earth provides bleed, but you probably would lose dps by swapping to earth)
This is a build I threw together, seems good number-wise, but I haven’t tested it in game. (If I took arcane instead of tempest or earth, could get about 5k burns per arcane skill, but tempest would provide some additional heals n party support, as well as Fire Overload, while earth boosts condi damage a bit and improves signet of fire quite a bit)

People coming back to the game, and noticing the skins they had in their inventory are worth a lot is part of it, but not too big a part.
I think the main reason is that people need cash…. due to costs of guild halls, ascended crafting, etc. So a lot of people are dipping into their investments to get some quick cash, only issue here, people undercut, and no one wants to remove an item for sale due to posting costs, this coupled with other people who normally would buy the skins, also running low on liquid gold due to the same reasons…
So fewer people with the funds buying aesthetic items, more people trying to sell their stockpiles, and just less liquid gold in the market in general I think.
(Greatsaws and Shields aren’t the only things hurting in price)
Most other classes with an evade skill also involve movement, many of their skills leaving little control as to where they end up, at least with this skill, you know you’ll be moving backwards.
Additionally, it should remove immobilize when Warrior’s Sprint is traited, which in my opinion is a huge bonus to the skill.
Having an additional “dodge” combined with immob removal AND immob of the enemy is amazing.
So again, learn not to spam every skill just because it’s not on cool down.
Use it for the immobilize to lock down a player for a bit, or use it as an escape when someone immobilizes you.
Lastly, most wars are probably not running rifle in PvE, it just isn’t optimal unless you have trouble in melee. So this argument of it being useless in PvE is kind of a moot point, it still provides vuln if that’s what you need it to do, and it putting you at further range from the enemy due to the evade? You’re using a rifle…..
Edit: I do agree though that the evade should be immediate.
Arcana provides quite a bit, however with sigil of energy nerf, it loses out too much.
The buffs for one are always solid, and the cleanse/blast/burn/blind on dodge was handy, particularly the cleanse imo. But again, since our only source of energy now is vigor, it’s kind of useless:(
Depends on how experienced you are, can easily run a full zerk ele through almost all pve content if you know your dodge timings and such. HoT maps are a little tougher, you might wanna through on a bit of defensive stats, since most everything can 1shot a zerk ele
Dungeons/Fractals/Raids are all about knowing the fights, once you do, you can run glass relatively easily.
PvP: has a different set of “gear” so you don’t needa worry here, just test out different amulets (these give you all your stats).
Not sure if anyone has figured out a solid choice of amulet for this yet, since our go to (Celestial) was removed. I’ve tried Paladin which works well, but not great.
Chaos and Tormented returned for a bit which surprised me. Really just depends on what Anet decides, it’s tough to really say.
On the other hand, the Wintersday (the fancier set) set didn’t return this past winter.
Well, timing wise, if you started gathering pages since the beginning, should have more than enough pages for 3 more journals currently:) (I’m at 107, missed at least one daily though)
So far no sign of footfalls, and while I think we all assume there’ll be a glider, I don’t think that’s been verified.
If the cost is just pristines, dark energy, and stabilizing matrices, I’d be happy lol.
One gift idea might be: 250 Stabilizing Matrices, and 3 completed journals, traded in to the 98/99/100 fractals. Just because i’d imagine Anet requiring the legendary to need lvl 100.
That’s why you buy em when theyre in store, knowing how unique the skin is:) also, Oni Blade is nothing like it, other than the handle.
It’ll return in time I’d imagine though.

Something like 105 extra journal pages atm lol…. really would like some info on when it’s gonna be in game, or if it’s getting delayed for nothing other than leaderboards…
Was from GW1 by name only, looks completely different. Most other GW1 skins that made it were only slightly reworked design-wise.
I personally like the GW2 version, not sure if I’ll use it on any of my chars though.
I rather like this, before I didn’t take piercing shot trait due to losing a better trait (imo)
I am also very happy with this patch. I main ele, and I will still enjoy pvp with him (with a scepter, always have, always will, I’m quite glad they didn’t change it much, id rather everyone else stay D/D). My war is as happy as can be.
I also play mes quite a bit, and whole heartedly agree that mes needed a nerf.
Squad UI adjustments are solid.
Only thing that I’m concerned about is what they did and didn’t do to necro/reaper, but we’ll see.
Always takes a bit to adjust to new functionality, the shot becomes something you use only in certain circumstances, no long just spamming all skills that are off cooldown.
The buckles n such are part of a collection, the rare pack you get itself doesn’t upgrade, when you complete the collection, you will get a new exotic backpiece.
It’s all in your collections tab.
There was a bug where some of the collection items didn’t always count, so check the collection, make sure it’s all there.
You can delete the items once you get it in the collection.
(edited by Ven Zehn.6573)
Yea, not sure if they also drop from mobs, but I’m pretty certain mine came from a chest.
Kind of off topic, but I really love these names lol, Arc Divider just sounds… Final Fantasy-esque in an awesome way
Dive Master Title: King of the World! (Since that’s a common phrase when standing at the peak of something:))
Or, since that would probably be too awesome of a title to give, maybe “Leaf On The Wind” (get some more Firefly lovin in this)
I’ve gotten one ever (the 14g version), from the final chest of some random fractal a long time ago. I’ve never gotten the higher level one.
Beyond that, nothing, and I do at least 6 fractals a day:/
Take into account a lot of people are spending hundreds/thousands of gold on their halls (among other things). So materials and things have stayed level or gone up in price.
The only things I’ve noticed dropping noticeably in price are skins and minipets, aesthetic items.
Also, a lot of people are trying to sell those high value items, to fund their other projects, thus increasing market supply, with no increase in demand.
Yep, when the game started, I made sure to get single word names that I wanted asap, and even when I recreate those characters/delete em, I make sure to make another char as a place holder if I don’t need the name right away.
Chances are, if the name is uncommon, but in a book or something, it’s been used with every variation lol.
Honestly the exploit that annoys me more is the Mossman pole exploit.
find another build, no light armor user should last longer than a heavy armor by nature, yet without boon corruption (sometimes even with that) eles outlast most damages, suck it up and deal with it
While I agree with you, I’m pretty sure most necros can outlast most heavy classes in a melee fight with less effort put into it, taking player skill/experience out of the equation
